I would like to share a horrific, traumatizing experience I had at this hospital yesterday. I had an appointment for 10/16/20 and referral from Midtown Health Center which operates under Local 6 for a cardio test because I have been having a chest pain for quite some time. When I arrived at the suite 9C I was told they needed another verification of referral and asked me to wait. After waiting for 15 minutes a lady at the front desk called me and asked me to call my insurance ( union in this case ) to get the referral verified I found very odd that I was supposed to do this work for them. Anyways, I called the union and got a lady on the phone to assist them with verification of the referral and went back to waiting. Then they called to the test room for sonogram. Upon sonogram they attached all these cords to my body where I WAS ASKED AGAIN TO WAIT FOR VERIFICATION OF REFERRAL HALF NAKED WITH CORDS ATTACHED TO MY BODY. After waiting for good 15 mins in this funny position THEY HANDED ME MY PHONE AND ASKED ME TO CALL THE UNION AGAIN TO GET THE REFERRAL VERIFIED?!! I was like whaat? Are you kidding me? I got the lady on the phone for you to get things sorted out and thats why you called me to the test room correct? Why did you start the procedure at the first place if you WERE SO DESPERATE for that referral to be verified?? HERE I AM SITTING IN TEST ROOM HALF NAKED< WITH CORDS ATTACHED TO MY BODY MAKING PHONE CALLS TO MY INSURANCE FOR 20 MINS. IT WAS NOTHING BUT A PATIENT ABUSE AND TORTURE. I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH A HUMILIATING AND ABUSIVE EXPERIENCE AT THE DOCTORS OFFICE IN MY LIFE! I was so frustrated I started complaining about their treatments of patients and this nurse ( Her name was Krishna or smth ) wouldn't start the test. Now despite getting the referral authorization finally Im here in the same funny situation, half naked, w cords attached to my body trying to convince this NURSE to start the test. She kept sayin " Are you done complaining?' " Do you wanna go home and come back later?" "I can just not do the test now" ETC. Imagine if anyone did this to you. Even when she started the test, she was supposed to stop the treadmill when my heart rate went above 170, but she kept going when my heart was at 185! I had to tell her PLEASE STOP! All I can say this was the most abusive, humiliating, torturous experience in my life. I went there to get my heart checked because Im having heart pains and they gave me this even more painful traumatic experience. I will never forget this!

I’m gonna be honest if I can give this location Mount Sinai West zero stars I would!! Where do I Begin!!! My son was admitted there on September 6. He sat in the ER until September 7 until midnight. He came in with a dislocated big toe. They tried 11 times to but the bone back in place. It did not work so they suggested surgery on his big toe!!! The staff I encountered with were nasty, especially the unit clerks the night unit clerk name, Wilson if that’s her real name, when I asked, I’m trying to find out information about my son she says in a nasty, rude tone, “I don’t know who your son is” real nasty and rude. There was another unit clerk in the ER the following night working a night shift her name is Sheryl. She was also nasty!! when I asked her for her name I also asked if there was a nurse manager available that I can speak was she didn’t want to give me any information then she told me she had other work to do and she couldn’t stay on the phone!!! My son was supposed to be NPO after 12pm lunch. These amateurs gave him food so he couldn’t get the surgery!! I can’t tell everything because it’s a very long story. All I know is that this is a horrible location!!. A lot of the stuff I spoke to work, extremely unprofessional and clueless of what was going on!!! They didn’t want to give up names I asked for the administrator they didn’t wanna give the name, they didn’t want to give me nurse managers names, there was one nurse manager that I encountered which she seemed to be nice but at the end of it all, she’s the one that authorized to give him a tray and he was supposed to be NPO so he couldn’t get the surgery because his surgery of courses anesthesia and they don’t want patients to aspirate so that’s why they are not supposed to be eating anything after a certain time. They decided to discharge him with pain medication and he has to go the entire weekend and hopefully on Monday possibly Tuesday Dr. Kelly can do the surgery on his big toe. I would not recommend this location and it’s really sad because Mount Sinai the main hospital on 97th St. is supposed to be the top first hospital in New York City!! they really need to do some serious investigation on the nasty, rude staff. The wait times are extremely long they didn’t have beds available over packed with patients horrible horrible, horrible!!!

Had an appointment today at the ENT office. I arrive 15 minutes late because of getting stuck on the Subway, yes I did even give myself extra time to get there, something I think all New Yorkers can relate too. After taking a half day off of work in order to make my appointment and the doctor would not see me. I never got to see the doctor so I don't know about the if he was any good, but I do know that the overall office does not care about its patients or the time that they have taken out of their day when they are sick. The doctors allowedthemselves to be over scheduled if they cannot accommodate a patient who is 15 minutes late for an appointment. I think this does speak to the quality of the doctors though and their care for their patients if they are not willing to accommodate a sick patient. I would not recommend this office regardless of the doctors there to anybody because of the lack of care they provide to their patients.I do see doctors at other Mount Sinai locations and I never had this issue in fact I'm generally the one who's kept waiting 10 or 20 or even 30 minutes to see a doctor because they are always running late

Other reviewers ragging about picky details should try living in a Third World country for a while and see what kind of healthcare attention they receive. My husband had open heart surgery and received top shelf diagnosis, surgery and after care at Mt. Sinai West. I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had the top breast surgeon at the hospital (and possibly the entire city) operate and is still carefully monitoring me every six months as I am at high risk for reoccurance. I don't know why the other reviewer was refused to accompany her husband upstairs but I can guarantee it wasn't because they were discriminating. And construction in the hospital is a reality everyone has to deal with, despite the other reviewers issue; they do the best they can, and the way I see it, they succeed.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Kathryn Salerno, a NP in the GI/liver disease speciality is dismissive and rude. I have been seeing her for 6 months (not by choice—mt Sinai is one of the only doctors that take my insurance) and she constantly minimizes my pain and acts like I waste her time. Even if there is nothing she can do, the least she can be is empathetic. Instead, she makes me come to her office which is 2 hours away so I have to take work off just to be seen for 5 minutes and her to tell me that nothing is wrong. I will not be seeing her again and I wish I could get my time and money back. I would rather pay out of pocket than see her. If you are a person of color—especially a woman do not see her.

If you are super rich and have nothing to do, and are happy to wait over an hour for a doctor to examine your foot for 5 minutes for $660, then this is the place to go. UPDATE: A few days after leaving this comment, I started receiving "Reaching out personally" messages from the respective Mount Sinai administrators on my personal email address encouraging me to donate MONEY to help Mount Sinai continue their good deed for humanity. I wish I was a super rich client so I could give more money to Mount Sinai but I am not super rich, I gave what I could to support Mount Sinai, because if you can pay $660 for a 5 minutes foot treatment, YOU are a generous donor.

I came in with my husband for an appointment. Due to covid front desk said no escort. So I respectfully stood downstairs. Then I see people like couple going upstairs and not elderly couples young couples or a family members. They choose who they let go upstairs. These 2 couple went up together. The other picture one was checking temp and the other was ask question. Then another couple goes in and gets in elevator. I think they need to be consistent. This is why people start disrespecting and getting angry. Is not the first time Mount Sinai does that inconsistency.

I’ve been in and out of the orthopedic office for the past year dealing with knee problems. The doctor I’ve worked with is great (Dr. Anthony) but the hospital as a whole is pretty pathetic. I schedule my appointments around 8am and usually have to sit in the waiting room for an hour before I’m seen. They hospital is just consistently unorganized and behind schedule all the time, no matter what time of day it is. Makes it super frustrating and challenging to work with.

If I could give 0. Gastroenterology department is awful. Ms.Nubia who makes appointments is so rude, They made me wait for 4 months to get testing done. I was beginning with pains. They never told me doctor Pike was leaving and this was the reason. Ms. Nubia never hesitated to tell me lie that she send letter noting that insurance is not covering therapy. She deserves to be fired from her work to do not torture patients.

At ER with spouse. 90 % of the staff, including interns, nurses, doctors, technicians etc are all very kind and attentive BUT there’s ALWAYS at least one nasty unkind withholding in this case female I think doctor. I tried with kindness but she’s the sort of person who will misuse her power and that’s unacceptable. You’ve gotta train staff far far better — our experience at Mount Sinai, upper east side was STELLAR.

The low rating is NOT for the staff or front desk employees!! They are awesome and helpful! It is the management at fault. Mt Sinai needs a major update of patient-facility interaction! It is not sufficient to merge different hospitals into Mt Sinai, one needs to integrate each of those hospitals and related operations seamlessly!

  • Harlemz Ruthless

Garbage hospital that's forces unnecessary c sections so they can get that extra insurance money. Also even when you test 1000 times for covid they still act like you have it even when all tests are negative. I would never go back here for anything. If I could give them a 0 star I would.

I came here because I had food poisoning and they treated the systems really well though the waiting time was 5 hours even though I went in right always and got seen right away.i just had to see if the medicine would work and it did after the second dose and fluids.

My nurses were amazing! In fact, every medical staff member I encountered were amazing. Shoutout to Night Shift Nurse Nolan and day shift Nurse Michelle Loretta; you were great! You made me feel heard and comfortable even at my vulnerable moments. Great nurses!

Been going there for 10 years...each division stands on its own..some good some questionable. Study your problem so you are an informed patient...its really up to you..know your condition so when dr speaks you understand and can accept or reject with reason

Maternal Fetal Evaluation Unit. Floors rumbling with construction. Noise too loud almost impossible to talk to staffs nor to hear baby’s heart over sonogram. No patients should experience this at any hospital especially high risk pregnancy patient.

  • Loving Life

Clean and nice staff work within this hospital. My experience has always been positive when visiting, appointments, and even while admitted. All I can say it's a very good hospital and much better than the one in morning side.

  • Claudia Lopez

I have been there couple of time, the examiner are okay but the front desk patient coordinator doesn't make you feel comfortable. A lot of things needs to be improved with patients specially with pregnant women

  • Chris A

I'll give this place no stars if I could after what they did to my mother. They misdiagnosed her when she had Stage IV Gastric Adeocarcinoma (cancer). We found that out from another hospital. She died.

  • Kerrie Stewart

Worse place ever. Don’t even bother to call and make an appointment. They never call back. Someone needs to teach them how to do their job. It’s ridiculous

  • Dianne El

Staff was very rude on floor, OR Staff and Doctor was beyond excellent but rude staff on 8th fl change my entire experience .
