If you live in or around Chinatown in downtown Montreal, it would be foolish not to take advantage of the great variety of grocery stores that cater to clients from Vietnam, China, Thailand, Korea and other countries in Asia. Kien Vinh Supermarket is one of the larger stores in the neighborhood. It offers mainly Chinese and Vietnamese grocery items, but it's also possible to purchase Thai, Korean and other Asian specialties. There's one area that the store needs to improve. It remains hard for a single person living alone to find essentials in small quantities. One such example is rice that is sold in bags of several kilos/pounds, while a single person may want to buy a much smaller quantity.
This place is a Covid-19 superspreader waiting to happen. No distancing enforced, rude staff, people crammed into tiny spaces, not to mention no designated entrance/exit (people could enter/exit through the same door), and worst of all, this place absolutely stinks with no ventilation! Even before the pandemic this place smells like dead rats with TERRIBLE meat products that are sold even when they're in an advanced stage of rotting. Additionally, this place sells lots of junk food made in China that don't even meet Health Canada standards. If you wanna buy better food in a safer environment go to IGA in Complexe Desjardins. Please boycott.
What kind of grocery store stocks noodles that's expired by 2 days? We bought fresh noodles today and should have checked the expiry date but didn't because we wanted to cook them the same day anyway. Mistake! They had expired 2 days ago and tasted well fizzy. Why would you keep merch that's blatantly expired like this? Avoid this place, there are so many other options in the neighbourhood.
Convenient and easy access. They always seem rude as they yell a lot but I think it is more a cultural thing. Preferably you should be fully bilingual, English and Mandarin, to have a better experience. Great place to find all those little sauces that make your chinese dish taste real!
Rude. Terrible attitude. I wanted to pay interac and they didn’t refused even though there’s a huge interac sign on their cash register. Cashier gave attitude and rudely took away my food. Do not encourage these businesspeople. They don’t know how to do business.
It is a little dirty looking on the inside but you can find a lot of items here. We usually buy litchi here but they didn't have it this time. The prices are pretty fair for the majority of items. Some are a little expensive for the amount received
Would have given 4.5 stars if possible. Most of the Asian groceries I would want can be found here, at reasonable prices. The only reason I am not giving KV 5 stars is because occasionally there are some items I want which are not stocked here.
I normally get my vegetables but it looks great in the store but when I get home does not look so great. Amount in the package is great for a meal and some lunch the next day
J’aime bien .
It's one of the very few remaining Asian grocery stores in Montreal and as such became a staple in Chinatown. They have a good variety of everything too.
This store will bring you back to the classic Chinese market. They have been here for a long time and have a great selection and very cheap prices.
Good range of Asian foods and supplies with moderate prices. Sometimes, they will have really good promotion. Also, friendly and helpful staff.
The price was ok, does NOT accept credit card nor tap. Not alot of variety of stuff compared to the other groceries down the street
The customer service is awesome and I was able to find an item that I have been looking for a while now, and at a great price!
This crowded store has good products to sell. Be careful not to grab anything expired/spoilt and your visit will be worth it.
Beaucoup de choix... Les odeurs dans le commerce sont binaires... On aime ou pas... Les prix pratiqués sont honnêtes.
This could be a better place to go for chinese grocery after a generalized facelift and enhanced cleanliness.
Find great products at great prices. Helpful and friendly staff. I always find what I need here.
Freshest produce in the area. I often come here with my wife to buy groceries for my family
