Ace Hardware is hands down my favorite hardware chain. The staff is incredibly helpful. I believe they must have a team rule where you always ask the customer if you can help them whenever they pass by. The store has a lot of different products (a lot of which I wouldn't expect to find in a hardware store), and even when I think I can find things on my own, the staff has always known where to find it faster than me. I was recently able to get a large amount of shopping done all at this one store, which made me feel so accomplished when really the accomplishment was Ace's. I was able to get Christmas shopping done for some construction tools and headlamps, I got a replacement light bulb, found screws for a home repair, and though I didn't have space in my car, I did see they had the exact fencing I needed for a fence repair. They also have many fun/cute/practical gifts, bird feed and feeders, pet food and toys (my dog loves the Buddy Biscuits Ace sells), plant pots, kitchen tools, and lots of other regular hardware supplies. I've also gone to Ace for small plants (I found small ferns for a terrarium), and it's good to note they have a larger selection in the warmer months. I had one especially good encounter at my last visit - I was looking at the headlamps and a staff member helped me by unlocking the latch for me (this headlamp was a bit expensive, so it was latched to the rack to prevent theft). Without missing a beat, he also asked me if I needed the batteries for the headlamp. I never would have thought to get the batteries, and I'm so glad he asked! He took me right over to the battery rack and knew exactly what I needed and handed it to me. How perfect! I shop small when I can, and I love shopping at Ace Hardware. No matter which location I visit (and I've visited 3 now), it's always a pleasant experience, and I almost always see something new and delightful at the store that I wasn't expecting.

Arrived at the store on New Years' Eve to purchase some cleaning items and to look at landscape lighting for my home. Your greeter at the door (was a lady, don't have her name) was very pushy and not very helpful or friendly. When I was able to find what I needed, I asked her a question regarding the size of the package and was told brusquely that it was the only size available. Not a very nice experience, but then went to the checkout and paid for my items. I walked across the street to another business to find out some information for a work related issue, when I noticed the manager walked over to the building, and complained about my car being parked. I was also berated for parking at your store when I explained to him I was a customer. I was also told rudely that "the management doesn't care about my complaint and they won't help", even though I explained to him again that I was a customer. He only asked afterward if I had bought something and then showed him my receipt. He apologetically said after that "he didn't know". The business I went to and work for seems to have a stigma attached to them as a nuisance, but you should know that people who work for them are tax paying, hard working people who could potentially help bring more business, as they also come in contact with other business owners and professionals in the community. I had considered purchasing landscape lighting from your store, but given this experience, I will NEVER shop there again and will post this review (copied and pasted) on Google, Yelp, and other business reviewing sites to get the word out about my poor customer experience.

Had a problem with a door that would not stay closed due to my woman's mischievous cats messing with it. So I figured out that the strike plate needed to be adjusted but didn't know how to plug the old holes that it was screwed into... So I thought maybe just get some wood glue or putty or something. Had someone help me find it fair enough, but then I had a guy named Randall suggest that I just put some matchsticks or some small pieces of wood in the hole and Hammer it in. So that it will be more stable wood, given that the new hole is so close to the old filled up hole. Sure enough, that worked like a charm! The cool thing about this is, I literally just pick up a piece of wood off the ground in the parking lot. I did not have to buy a single product from Ace. That means that this employee was so dedicated the job(helping me), that he literally gave me an option that did not involve me buying anything in the store Now that's some good old-fashioned, top-of-the-line customer service. Thanks Randall! 5 stars

Follow up to original review. Do not purchase Stihl equipment from this dealer. They might fix it up enough to work while you're there but I purchased an MS 250 chainsaw and it's never worked properly and you can't get anyone at this store or the manufacturer to correct the issues. I'm done with Ace and Stihl. Better off buying a Husqvarna or even an Echo from one of the big box stores. I won't shop here again. Plenty of other Ace options in town. Purchased an expensive Stihl chainsaw that couldn't be started safely with the protective equipment engaged. Was told they don't refund power equipment and "there's nothing we can do" . Chainsaw was clearly running rich or has low spark and no offer to replace or repair was made. Follow up to original 1 star review. General Manager of the store did reach out the following day and worked hard to correct the issue. Much better customer service from him.

I wish I could give this review 0 stars. My shopping experience started out great and slowly took a nose dive. The goal was to buy two bags of mulch. They requested I go around back to have it loaded and handed me a pickup ticket. I did so and had to wait so long that I walked back into the store to confirm someone would come help me. The store associate finally did and without checking my ticket, asked if I got “nuggets” and then proceeded to put two bags in the trunk. Not knowing any different, I left only to find out he gave me the wrong type. Drove all the way back to ask for correct mulch and a comp on one bag for the inconvenience. The cashiers had no idea what to do and apparently the manager refused. Didn’t even show his face. It’s a shame a “helpful place” like Ace would have such poor customer service. Save yourself the hassle and please don’t go!

Ace filled up my 100lb propane tank up with 28 gallons. which cause the emergency release valve to open a year ago. The max that should be put in is 23 gallons 80% with room for expansion. I been going for the last year to fill propane tank for my food truck. they get it right half the time. Today the employee wanted to let me know it would automatically stop when it's filled up. I explain to him that would be over 80%. I let him know that in the past it put me in great danger when they over filled it before. He said if I wasn't happy with their service I can go elsewhere instead of trying to find a solution. The manager, Lewis came over to express the same feeling. I will gladly take my business elsewhere. When your not the owner of a business your quick to tell someone who spends $100 a week on propane to go elsewhere. JUST BE WARE!

I found this location based on a warranty call I made on my lawnmower. Upon the initial call I spoke with a gentleman by the name of Jason in the lawnmower repair and maintenance department. Jason was extremely patient and willing to educate me when answering my questions. He did not over promise or make unnecessary claims to sell any additional products. His demeanor was the deciding factor to brave the congested area at the time of day I had available to make it to the store. With the shortage of staff plaguing everywhere and everybody, I was still acknowledged despite a short wait. And to my surprise my lawnmower issue was resolved faster than I expected and a reasonable price. I would recommend Jason and this lawnmower maintenance team (think it is two more guys that rotate) to anyone looking for help.

Ace is no longer the place for helpful Hardware folks. Went to buy replacement battery for gate fob. Was told if they touched the fob it would be a 12 dollar fee. I asked where to find the battery I needed. I needed to use a small small Phillips head to open fob. That would be the 12 dollar fee. So let me get this straight...I pay 27% more for my Hardware needs so I can get help but now I pay 27% or more for my Hardware needs & pay extra for help. So I went to Amazon and payed 5.99 plus tax for the battery (it came w/ 2) I used my Phillips head to open the fob. Done. And I don't want to go back to the terribly grumpy folks @ Bates Ace on Howell Mill, ATL 303178

I love this store and the people who run it! In a day and age where internet shopping and big box stores have run the mom-and-pop establishments out of business, I am grateful for Bates. Lewis and his team are excellent. They are knowledgeable and helpful. They also give away free BBQ on Saturday's! The next time you need something for your house or garden, I'd encourage you to drive past Home Depot or Lowes, and head on over to Bates. Ask for Lewis. He'll meet you by the Green Egg's with a smile on his face. A heart of service and practical know-how are two commodities that are in short supply too much the time. They can both be found in abundance at Bates!

This is an inner city Ace and they are an excellent staff who are Truly helpful hardware folk. Get your keys made here, plumbing supplies, household goods, paints, stuff you having trouble finding at bigger suppliers, special ginger beers and even themed socks you love wearing on the weekend in your slides that says "Thou shalt not mess with me" Mom: 24:7. I give these guys two thumbs up! They greet you at the entrance and If you order something, they will call you for weeks if it's ready for pickup!

What an awesome experience? I was greeted by a joyful middle age gentleman upon entering the store. He directed me to the section for what I was looking for. When I arrived in that section 2 different associates asked if I needed help. I thought I was fine, but realized by the 2nd request I needed help. Expert help & they allowed me to exit & test fit the nuts & bolts for my application before I bought them. Great staff all around! I went back for honey & will definitely patronize this store again.

Decent selection of hardware goods and a convenient location. This location is VERY strict on applying the mailer discounts and other promotions frequently sent out by Ace. Unfortunately, the employees of the store are not empowered to help the customer in these situations due to ownership policy. The employees are very helpful in answering questions, locating items, etc. I continue to shop for small items here, but prefer to shop for larger purchases at other Ace locations or HD, Lowes, etc.

A incident happen on 8/27/22 I went to clone my murano 03 original key at this store location, They ending damage my starter to the point that my starter brote Down I record the incident I ask them to help me out to go back home they refuce and denied that they force my starter to the point that broke Down. I undertand that many people gave them a good review And I'm happy for those people but in reality dishonor and disgrace to this store manager. Thanks

I made a purchase this morning. The staff were helpful, however when I drove out, I noticed that there was a delivery in progress, so I slowed down. The Ace hardware person directing the delivery very angrily waved me to continue, and stared me down when I passed and continued to stare at me even when I exited the parking lot. I will always remember this angry man when I shop at this Ace if I go back.

Not much room to park full size trucks but for the most part my visit here was very enjoyable the staff is very friendly and very helpful. With smiles on there faces and willing to help you find what you need to handle the task at hand so for this im very pleased and will defiantly recommend to others. And looking forward to my next project. Good job.

Everyone here is so helpful and funny! I had to paint my entire condo and know absolutely nothing about interior painting. The associates that helped me were happy to answer all my questions and they gave great advice. I didn’t even mind having to go back when I ran out of paint because everyone was so friendly and we had some great laughs.

Stopped in for a few items for an installation project for a client. They had everything I needed, were very friendly and helpful, and I enjoyed a very quick checkout. They even had handmade barbecue sandwiches for free (very delicious by the way) on the way out the door. A ++ all the way around... a great shopping experience!

Typical 'White' Female(An Old Cashier) Giving A 'Black' Person A Hard Time For Something Easily Remedied. But, She Told Me Managers Are Busy & My Wait Will Be About 15-20 Minutes. Nevertheless, The Others Working In The Store Were Kind & Helpful So I Was Able To Leave Within 5 Minutes After Being SUBJUGATED By Her.

I called this certain location because my friend lock was totally busted and Steve the cashier was amazing and pleasant not only on the phone but at the register . I also want to give Randall a should out. He was extremely amazing and came to my rescue. Great team at this location. They even have Pop corn.

Okay, just got out of this place. I don't do reviews, but seriously. Nicest people I've ever seen. Helpful at every single corner. Constantly being asked if we need anything. This place also just has a fantastic selection of things as well, at better prices than I am used to seeing at other Ace's.

  • Andrew Parrott

This place has a little of everything and the price is not to bad. Their staff has been very helpful every time I've paid a visit. Well stocked with almost any home projects you would want to tackle and some you have to. Aisle are a little tighter but it's because they have so much in the store.

  • S Smith

Quick, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable plant nursery staff!! I had a lovely interaction with the woman running the plant nursery section yesterday, and it completely made my day!! She was so excited to talk to me about my plants, and I can tell she loves what she's doing. Highly recommend!!

  • Kathy Smith

Lewis and his team at Bates are the best! From hardware to gardening, everyone is helpful and friendly. They are also very accommodating with pickup orders. A special thank you to Francesca and Jack for landscaping suggestions and to Regina, at the register, for helping with curbside delivery.

  • Jordan Hurt

I've been to this store several times, and I am always impressed by the quality of their staff and vast selection. I'm always greeted as soon as I walk through the door by an associate willing to help me, and I rarely have left without the supplies I needed. I highly recommend this location.

  • Karen Wilson

I've gone to this Ace Hardware a couple of times in the last month. Each time has been for work. Had keys made and needed special screws to re-hang our Ring doorbell. They are always very helpful and have someone assisting you within a few minutes after you enter the store.

  • J Rudolph

The cashiers @ this location are patient, kind, and extremely helpful. However, the assistant manager, Jules (sp) is a smart mouth and could care less about customer retention. I would not recommend placing an order online and picking up @ this location.

  • Joel Norman

I dropped a 3-star review here last year, and am back to change it. Matthew, a new hire, is a superstar of customer service. All I was doing was getting propane filled, but he was kind and excited to help out. Best Ace experience I’ve had to date.

  • B Jeanne

Lovvve the people who work thwre. Many of the guys in the paint department know about everything in the store. The new garden lady can lead you in the right direction if you seek garden expertise. Super friendly and helpful, team.

  • S Ave

Jason had the best customer service I've came across in years. He was plesant and explain to me all the in and out of my new blower. I will be back again. He even carried everything to my vehicle for me. Bates hardware is great.

  • Corey Pattison

Couldn't bring wheelchair client into store with main isle congested with bargain bins. Hey Wade are you making that much from that garbage to warrant the risks? Going to peachtree store next time.

  • Michael Harper

Jason was able to help me with a motor issue despite it not being one of the brands Ace carries parts for. He was super helpful, fixed my issue, and taught me how to deal with it going forward.

  • Sleepy Gee

Customer Service is Trash and the Lady at the Door is not very welcoming you walk in and she's following you around like your trying to steal I will never shop here again
