If you're like me, and visited Roma Street Parklands for numerous reasons but rarely ventured past the edges, you would have missed The Garden Room, as it wasn't part of your reasoning to being at the Parklands. Pleasantly surprised how nice this place looked and felt. I loved how the edges of the cafe are softened by the plants that are the main stars of this place. The outside seating area has lovely hidden away dining areas and it's a place that allows you to escape just for a little while. Wheelchair access isn't a problem and the seats are solid and stable and well kept with decent space between tables for access for prams, wheelchairs, mobility scooters etc. The toilets are clean and tidy and are for cafe clients to use via a key accessed by asking staff. It seems to be dog friendly (outside). Staff are welcoming, friendly and professional. I personally had the Eggs Benedict with Ham, which was perfect and really well presented. Was a nice turn around from ordering to when I received my meal (10-15mins). So if you're after a wonderful experience and tasty food I highly recommend this place for a catch up with friends/family or just that quiet time by yourself to just relax. NB: Don't expect this place to be 100% quiet as Roma Street Train Station is not that far away from the Cafe. Apart from that, it's the perfect place at Roma Street Parklands to have a great Coffee and meal.

We got to the cafe excited for the location and food, but unfortunately our expectations were not met. :( I am pescatarian (vegetarian + sea food) and Brisbane in my mind has been ahead of the rest of the country for vegetarian food. We asked if we can have a vegeterian version of the Gardener's Lunch Board. So the pork rillette and sugar baked ham were replaced with a camembert cheese. Also had a greed juice. The food board looked good (see picture) but the bread was just nowhere enough for the food served. So half way through we were left with two half eaten cheese with nothing to have them with :( The cafe needs more staff as the service was slow, tables were left for a long time to be cleaned so the ibis birds where having a fight over the left overs and I am quite surprised they didn't break some of the glasses. Atmosphere was ok but with the birds making a mess, it wasn't that pleasant. It could be the effects of pandemic that has cast a shadow over all hospitality businesses here, but unfortunately you could feel it. I believe this place has got the potential and it could be caused by the pandemic and bad management, but as it is at the moment, it shouldn't be on the top 10 places to go to in Brisbane.

What an incredible experience here at The Garden Room! Everything was perfection! The atmosphere and ambience is so inviting and fresh and earthy with plants and decor everywhere. Very open space dine-in seating. Lots of outdoor sections. Plants and trees everywhere making you feel like you're in a beautiful garden Oasis. The service is above and beyond and very friendly and accommodating and knowledgable. They are all amazing people ! The food....wow, the food! So delicious and fresh and flavourful. Even the plate of sides I ordered was delicious and perfectly seasoned and fresh ! All the dishes we ordered were beautifully constructed and a feast for the eyes. As well as a feast for the tongue! YUMMM ! The coffee and drinks are made to perfection! There is no fresh juice which would be a nice addition. There are various seating options in the spacious indoor and outdoor sections. Take a pick at your favourite flavour of seating. There's a huge variety for all comfort levels. I cannot fault a single thing at this place. What an incredible location and restaurant and service and food! Absolutely give this place a visit!! I will be back for sure.

Previously known as the under whelming and under performing Melange Cafe, I was very pleased to see that this cafe has been renamed, re-vamped and looked aesthetically pleasing. It’s apparent that the service is of a standard that is to be expected for a cafe that is in a prime and beautiful location of the Parkland. Food wise, I appreciated that there were vege options, albeit limited, however the price point vs what’s offered is a little high. This could be because they are the only cafe there…as they were busy. Pictured below is their “nourish bowl”. It needs flavour and warmth. It was cold and a tad unappealing. I’m not sure what the carrots had been fermented in, but they were on the high end of acidity. The falafel balls were very bland and had a slight odour. Chick peas tend to do that when not stored correctly. I sincerely hope they begin to offer a vegetarian burger and a vegetarian version of their lunch board. Otherwise, I’m hoping they allow ordering off the kids menu. All in all, I would return as the service is good, has great ambiance as a meeting point and of course located in the most amazing location.

The Garden Room, the only Cafe Restaurant at Roma Parkland. Order over the counter or on from your table using table scan. During our day tour around the Roma Parklands, we walked in for a nice breakfast and coffee, it’s nice for me though that day were too busy with my friends feeling a little dissatisfied with the service. We do understand it was just a busy day for them. My main meal was pretty authentic and rather surprising. I ordered Beef Mosaman and somehow confirmed a different meal which was the “Winter nourish bowl” I had to accept it, I enjoyed it and wash it down with a nice refreshing delicious green smoothie. I suggest, it is probably best for you to visit the place and see for yourself. Public transport stops right near the park. Bus Train Taxi Parking ️ (pay parking at most) it’s not easy to find a free parking area in the City. This is all I can say for now.

Disappointed as a senior disabled visitor to this place. No one but me at the order counter. The man at the counter could clearly see I had a walking support. A very hot day and I asked for a drink of water. No offer to help by simply filling the glass and putting it on my table. I went to my table and man at the counter yells out that I forgot to take my table number. Wouldnt it be a nice customer service gesture to simply bring it to the table? These are not over and above customer service tasks; Gradually the art of providing good manners is deminishing. Also ordered large half strength coffee. Recieved average size coffee. The polite lady took it away, poured into a large takeaway cup topped up with milk. Here's hoping the $25 corn fritter is worth the value experience.

BUTTERMILK FRIED CHICKEN BURGER $20.5 I had 2 hr to kill in the city it was lunch time and i had to be close to the car for my next appointment, I stopped in at the Garden room and ordered a burger and a drink and took a seat, the barista looked at me funny and asked if i was alone and then asked me if it was take-away, I shrugged this off and told her no it is eat-in and yes I was alone. After 40 min in a fairly empty cafe i went and got another drink and politely asked how far my meals was away from being completed. she informed me a few more min then charged me $12 for s ginger-beer and a juice. After another 25 minutes the meal came out she says sorry was this meant to be takeaway! the burger was reasonably good. however two bites in I had a call I was needed at my appointment. I did try and eat another couple of mouthfuls before running off. just felt like a waste of food

Great atmosphere. Food quality depends on what you order. The beef burger is dry and not very good, but the fish & chips are great! Wines and coffee are decent. The service staff is nice, but the food and drinks take forever to come out and rarely together. Animals eat your food if you aren't careful/vigilant. Cafe is overly expensive. It's worth checking out just for the atmosphere, but be prepared to pay more than usual and dial your patience meter up to 10 when waiting for your food. Personally, if I were you, I'd just stop in for a coffee to experience the nice atmosphere and not be dependent on food coming after your drinks are well finished.

Had a wonderful breakfast at The Garden Room this morning. I ordered savoury mince on (sourdough) toast, and it was excellent. It was served with black truffle butter (a first for me) and a poached egg. I also had coffee. The mince was a generous serve and delicious, rich in flavour with just enough vegetables - peas and carrots - to go with it. The coffee - flat white, extra shot, extra hot - was also up to the mark. This cafe is in a beautiful setting, surrounded by greenery, both inside and out. I sat outside among the trees. Happy with the pleasant and efficient service, too. Well done . I'll definitely be back.

I cannot believe that I just spent $25 for a single piece of toast with avocado and two eggs on it. The toast was so hard I could barely cut it with my knife, let alone chew it, and the toast was cold, even with the eggs on it. It look almost 40 minutes to come out. It looked really fancy, but it tasted like exactly what I could get from any other cafe for $14. The coffee was nice though, so at least there’s that. The customer service overall wasn’t really good either, it was busy, and I understand not having time to talk, but I didn’t even get a greeting when they left my food or my coffee, they just popped it down on my table and left. I’m not from this area but if this is what to expect from the venues, I’m very disappointed.

Went to lunch at the only place in Roma Street Parklands. Delightful setting but food was only OK, service reasonable and coffee mediocre. Anyone who thinks that coffee is good hasn't had good coffee. I had the winter nourish bowl which was fair, but nothing to satisfy a decent hunger. My companion had the Gardner's Platter and he too was left hungry and dissatisfied. Not very much food for the price. As others have reviewed, the place can be busy and the staff don't get around quickly enough to clear tables between customers. Overall, will look further afield next time I'm in the vicinity.

I’ve only been here a couple of times and am yet to experience good service. This morning was average at best. It wasn’t busy but it really felt like the staff didn’t want to be there. I ordered fruit bread and coffee. The butter had obviously previously melted and then been put back in the fridge so it was opaque and hard. The fruit bread was really dry and doughy. And the final straw came when I found a dark hair at the bottom of my coffee ( I am blonde ). The location is fantastic next to parklands and in a lovely area with lots is greenery. I won’t be back despite the location.

Pretty poor service for the price you pay. Paid $15 for 2 milkshakes. Price gouging if you ask me. The kids meals seem decent $12.50 for a meal with chips and veg however the kitchen was closed at 2:30pm so I was unable to order so can't say how good the food is. The kids were hungry so that was a let down. The cafe cakes innthe window look far from appetising. The milkshakes were disappointing, the chocolate had a strange taste, not a good chocolate syrup it tasted slightly alcoholic or like bitters. For the price as well, it's literally just syrup and milk, no icecream no cream, very disappointed. Caramel was enjoyed by the kids but not the chocolate.

Staff were very efficient, though the lines were not as clearly marked as they could be. A small sign indicated the line for takeaway pickup, but the order line didn't seem to be marked. Trying to maneuver a wheelchair to the correct line while only two other groups were there required moving the barrier between lines, or going outside, around both groups.

Always love the fact you can choose how to cook your egg; been here a few times and tried different dishes. Think I like Garden Room Breakfast (free-range pork & fennel sausage, bacon, eggs cooked to your liking, potato cake, roasted field mushroom, tomato & toasted sourdough), which costs $26.5 Forget how much the coffee costs, it is an iced latte with almond milk and caramel syrup. Nice environment, right next to the train station and bus which is good for people who need to catch the schedule. The presentation is nice and it tastes as good as it looks.

We purchased two picnic boxes from The Garden Room for a Father's Day brunch in the Roma St parklands. The picnic boxes are $65 and come with two coffees. They are a good size and our two boxes fed five people with leftovers. The hits were the sandwiches (fresh and nice variety), scones (fresh cream would be better than the canned whipped cream though), danish pastry and good coffee. The misses were the frittata (bland) and banana bread (dry). We also ordered two thick shakes for our teenagers and got two milkshakes instead which was disappointing.

Whilst the staff all tried hard, and very pleasant, the wait time was horrific. We took our little granddaughter to the Parklands and I went to get 2 cappuccinos. After ordering I waited 45 minutes in line and then in frustration, I said to one of the staff have you got an order for my name. She said yes, we’re doing it now. 15 minutes later, I received the coffees. All up 60 minutes for the coffees which were pretty good, but the wait was very frustrating.

Not a great experience. The staff are friendly but there's long delays for food. We waited over 40 minutes for our lunch, and when it arrived my beef burger was undercooked in the middle. It was quickly fixed but it wasn't impressive after such a long wait. Drinks are really expensive: I was going to get a bottled juice but it was $7.50, which seems excessive when a wholesale website lists a carton of 12 of the same brand/quantity for under $32.

82 years old, new to Brisbane, missed my train, saw The beautiful Garden Room restaurant in the Parklands thought that would cheer me up. BUT worst coffee ever, when ordering panini, asked for no dressing whatsoever, it came smothered in sauce apparently pre prepared! Offered alternate dish so got freezing cold poached eggs on inedible burnt hard toast. Next time I miss my train it will be bottled water and a snack, will save me $. grandma

The Garden Room hosted to our wedding reception in July 2022. Josie and the team went above and beyond to accommodate our quick 4 week turn around to host the event, from flexibility with decorations drop off / pick up, the team helping set up the decorations on the event day, hospitality of staff,  and the quality of the food was brilliant and complemented by many guests. We were also very impressed by the venue, layout and ambience of The Garden Room, it created a beautiful atmosphere.

Had a burger. Loved it. Meat cooked medium rare and a good size, my wife had poached eggs, feta, avocado with salad, delicious. We had a side order of home made chips, perfect . Nothing was too much trouble. We couldn't finish the meal as it was large but no problems, staff gave us takeaway platters. Recommend it all

Ordered Eggs Benedict. Thought it would include the classic crispy bacon or no meat, but instead got this half burned, half chewy pork steak. Looked at the menu and saw the customer can pick either this ham, bacon or mushrooms but the waitress didn't ask which one I wanted and assumed I want this. But even so, it was not cooked well. The food was also quite pricey. Staff were walking past often but didn't ask how the food tastes. Would not recommend.

Mocha was too flat, but the boy that brought it to me was lovely. Public holiday aside, it’s quite pricey for a coffee (and the rest of the food, looking at the menu). However, it’s also the atmosphere you pay for (take dining fees in other countries for example). The tables weren’t all clean in a timely manner, but it wasn’t too bad. Great atmosphere and decor.

Great spot close to the Parklands. Wait time for kids food was long (40 mins). Philipino rice suggested it included pork on the menu, but none was evident. $23+ for greasy fried rice with an egg and some coriander. Hmm…. Kids burgers and Kids chicken & chips were fine (when they arrived)

Bought a strawberry milkshake. It has almost nothing of strawberry mermelade and nothing of ice cream, so I asked about the ice cream. They told me that they use only one cup of ice cream and offered to make it again. I agreed and thanked and it came worst than the first one, it was the same milk, no added strawberry mermelade and a little more ice cream. First bad experience in this place.

I haven’t been here for a couple of years. The difference is outstanding. Fitting with the garden theme there are now superb outdoor areas amongst the hoop pines with beautiful tropical plants. Lovely view of the fountain and waterfall. Above is a magnificent basket with ferns and cymbidium orchid about to flower. And great coffee!
