Hands down, the Forks is the best place to visit in Winnipeg! Very romantic park setting and scenic along the Red River. In the summer, we took the guided boat tour which is inexpensive and about 90 minutes long. You'll see numerous musical shows on weekends. Temperatures that summer in July were about 82 degrees Fahrenheit. In the winter in November and March when it was 14 degrees (which is considered balmy here), the area which usually has events becomes an ice-skating rink and there's a small makeshift hockey rink across from it. The Forks Market was a pleasant surprise. Every lunch and dinner location we tried was delicious and fairly priced. The BEST croissants I've ever tasted are at the Tall Grass Prairie Bakery. Don't let the long line scare you as you'll be served within minutes. In my most recent stay, I was at the Inn at the Forks. It's very pricey, but worth it to get a great scenic view in the morning and is in the heart of the park. It's only a 15-20 minute walk to downtown Winnipeg. On a negative note, on my last night in 2020, I took some souvenir photos at midnight along the scenic river and was followed all the way back to the hotel by a meth addict who thought I was taking photos of him and yelling at me. I had to kick the guy out of the hotel as no one from the front desk wanted to get involved or call police. Sadly, there were some high profile events in 2022 of folks being beaten, stabbed and robbed in the Forks...and this occurred in daylight. I hope they will add cameras in the park that were lacking when I was last there. Because of the growing drug and crime issue in the area, I was going to give it a 4 star review instead of a 5. Hopefully, law enforcement will beef up their presence here because it really is a BEAUTIFUL place to be, regarding of the season. I hope the Forks will give you the same enjoyment and positive memories that it gave me and will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart!

The Forks is a MUST SEE for all visitors to Winnipeg. A meeting place for thousands of years became a defunct rail yard until the 1970s. Today, The Forks is once again a MEETING PLACE. There is The Johnston Terminal, with galleries, a popular toy store and a new age bicycle shop. It also houses The Spaghetti Factory restaurant, a coffee bar and an enormous antique shop in the basement. The Forks Market has recently gone through a re-birth with McNally Robinson Booksellers, and a new reading and relaxation area on the second floor. The food court in the center of the Forks Market building now houses The Commons, a licensed food and drink area, featuring several local beers on tap, and new, exciting food venues. The Manitoba Children's Museum remains a favourite spot for children's parties, school programs, holiday camps etc. The Inn at the Forks is a high-end boutique hotel with rooms and suites, meeting and event rooms, Smith Restaurant and Bar and Riverstons Spa. The Canadian Museum for Human Rights draws you in at the entrance to The Forks, with its glass Cloud side, its Limestone Rocky Mountain face and its Izzy Asper Peace Tower. The Forks welcomes visitors to Festival du Voyageur, Canada Celebrations and more. The Odina Circle is an outdoor venue for Pow Wows and other Aboriginal celebrations.

Once again I felt like a dirty lil sercret and a privileged second class citizen while collecting my treaty money no where near the actual forking of the mucky rivers, under the cover of a white (???) tent - are we too sun kissed? The what should've been a tipi was off the beaten bush trail, halfway between the river and an actual groomed path. Why don't they make a spectacle out of the event complete with fan fare and military canons maybe even a marching band with bagpipes or fiddles or at least a group of pow wow drummers. If they dont want us on stage refusing the public embarassment at least the bagpipes would clue us in as to where mister money bags was hidding not the trail of strollers carrying snooty nosed kids too rez for this city. We'd at least stay at the forks to spend our celebration money and not rush to dollarama or giant tiger with our cheap little earnings.

The Forks Historical Site has a lot to offer. There is a market place, several restaurants, walking paths (e.g., Assiniboine Riverwalk), a Children’s Museum, a “Theatre for Young People”, hotel (i.e., “Inn at the Forks”), skate park, the Canadian Museum of Human Rights, Oodena Celebration Circle, and many other points of interest. The area hosts a variety of things including Canada Day and various other events throughout the year. In the winter, you can rent ice skates to skate on the adjacent river (and on parts of the iced paths nearby).

There's a lot to do at the forks which I enjoy... However, this is not a five star rating because there is no longer the free parking in front of the forks. Honestly, I don't mind paying, it's the fact that there was zero announcement at all. I came by one night and all the signs were removed and I saw a new parking meter by the bus stop. Again, I don't mind paying, it's that I checked everywhere online and there was zero announcement and just the day before it was still free to park.

The Forks National Historic Site is located at very prominent location in the middle of Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. This place is close to Downtown and St Boniface Neighbourhood. There are lots of activities to do like boating, skating, photography, eating, drinking, cycling, walking and many more fun activities with family and friends. Lots of parking space available. Well maintained and decorated areas to view and enjoy.

Absolutely wonderful! The only thing that I can say is that I have a good time in the world and I think it is because of the forks! I was just thinking about going back! You should definitely check this place out you will not be disappointed with the place! I have spent such a long time there I might as well live there. And one last thing, the place at night is absolutely stunning and very beautiful in this city.

4 out of 5 because people don't understand that sidewalks are like roads and you should stick to the side you're assigned to. Aside from that not bad, just be ready to pay 10 bucks for a beer and wait for those gosh darn scooter kids to never get out of your way when you're shredding hard in the bowl, which I am sure a lot of parents and immigrants will relate to. Bring your own beer is what I am trying to say.

This park is a great family visit during the warm months, perfectly justifying a quick jaunt to Winnipeg. During the cold months there is a skating rink, and still quite a lot to do. Note the beautiful views of the Red River and Assiniboine Rivers joining. You'll easily find quick access to museums, restaurants, gift stores, attractions, and transports deeper into historical Winnipeg.

Great activities for adults and kids alike- from nice walking/biking trails to a huge playground and splash pad. Diverse food options at the forks market, and a wide selection of tasty microbrew options. Fun day for the whole family and a must see for all visitors to Winnipeg

The ice castle was neat for the first 5 minutes, which is how long it took to walk around it all. The second walk around was more trying to get my money's worth. My one major gripe is that all the shaving from the ice makes it hard to walk on if you have any sort of mobility issues. Next time, I'd save my money and just enjoy the free activities at the forks.

This is definitely the best place to go in Winnipeg. Lots to do both I side and outside in every season of the year. Plenty to do for people that like history and those who do not. I highly recommend a coffee at Espresso Junction or even try a Gibraltar at Fools & Horses. My favorite place to eat here is Taste of Sri Lanka. The food is tasty and flavorful.

Absolutely beautiful place to enjoy the summers. The calmness of the Red river with the greeneries around is a cherry on cake. It's pretty close to the Forks Market and you can enjoy walking along the banks of the river or bir along the banks of the river. It's popularly called the heart of Winnipeg Downtown and it literally lives up to its popularity.

One of my favourite places in Winnipeg. The Market is host to many restaurants and several unique shops. Lots of beautiful walking paths outside. Steps away from the Canadian Human Rights Museum. A must-visit location if you’re ever in the city.

An absolute gem of a marketplace. From sculpture galleries to tarot card readings to pet food, this place has it all in terms of stores. Our favourite had to be the Jordan Van Sewell Gallery where Jordan's eclectic collection is on display. Well worth the trip, and the food court is like no other!

I really enjoyed the view to the Prairie Dogs land, their sounds made this place peaceful even though is not, interesting art and sculptures. I heard that this place is one of the favorites for people who lives on Winnipeg. The Forks also have variety of food and a nice outdoor seating area.

The best place to take your family in the winter! They have a lot of activities for everyone indoors and outdoors. Food has lots of options and you can even buy beer! The kids loved the toy store and my wife spent forever in the antique shop. You have to pay for parking but it's worth it!

Beautiful park, crazy bike sculpture that is honestly hard to focus on. Had a great time in the museum for human rights, which was very well done. Nice place for a walk and ended up making our way into the forks market for dinner.

The Forks National Historic Site is the heart of Canada. It is where the Two Rivers Meet. It has a unique history in which unites us all. It encompasses what a diverse beautiful world we have and how Canada should be proud of who we are and how we except everyone.

Good place to bring a non-Manitoban visitor - decent varities of restaurants inside the market, may have concerts/events, playground for kids, museums around, a historical site, some spa and gift shops, hotel/s around, and you can also go for a tour on a boat!

Love what they done to the place. I'd like to see all the big surface parking lots done away with, replaced with more gardens, but that might be a city concern.

It used to be a great place. I spent a lot of time there when I was younger and lived downtown. Unfortunately, it has now become a sketchy place, where you feel the need to continually survey your surroundings. Also, a lot of the good shops have left.

A very nice park, splash pad, play structures and relaxing riverside environment, we bought a cup of super cold strawberry lemonade from the food truck at the park which saved our life from the hot.

Very nice park, lots of trees and green spaces sbd outdoor concerta. My only criticism would be the children's playstructure was not made of durable materials (plastic broken in some places). A great place to unwind and take in mother nature.

Went for ice castles. Was super cool. Literally. Lol. Not what I expected. Love the castles that are not made from ice blocks but from running water. Its gorgeous. Its worth the money to go see. Please don't touch it or break icicles please.

Tons of activities for the whole family. Good is great however hard to find a seat to eat. Skating was the draw to day. Sunny and peaceful at times. The walk on the river trail was to Good for words.

Amazing job done with the ice castle show. Well laid out and easily navigated. Fire pits ideally located. Families slide was well set. A+ grading. Well worth the price paid.

A little dull, dead worms from the heat. I also hear the museum of human rights was built by immigrants for very low wages.. some would call it, ironically slave labour.

The place to go in Winnipeg. I enjoy going here no matter what time of the year or how many times I have visited. There is always something happening or something new.
