I had read positive things and seen the Royal Canadian Mint listed on a few "things to do in Winnipeg" lists, so I definitely wanted to stop by. They advise booking in advance by phone instead of walking in to be sure they can accommodate. The tour is about 45 minutes, and our guide was Mireille (sp?)/Marion? - who was great (give her a raise)! She was very informative and knowledgeable and easy to understand for an English speaker. As an American, I really knew very little about Canadian coins or minting, but this was very interesting! I was shocked to know how intricate and complex this industry was - and that they have new coins in production so often! I thought our guide was really excellent and made the experience interesting for us all. One thing that could be helpful in the future is that if the entire/most of the group is made up of non-Canadians, to explain some of the even more basic facts about the coins. Also, I was a little disappointed there was no production taking place at the time - the site clearly states that this may be the case, but perhaps it would be helpful to note when it is or is not in production so that visitors can book accordingly. Or perhaps a voucher/discount on the ticket price or something from the gift shop would be a nice acknowledgement/consolation for this, since I imagine that it is probably the highlight of the trip.

An astoundingly informative tour well worth the visit at ANY time of the year. HOWEVER.........you SHOULD call for advance bookings if you are going to be in THE PEG for a few days. HOWEVER, if you are just there for a day or two call anyway but as the staff is VERY busy and they say they will call you back....DO NOT WAIT!!!! JUST SHOW UP ANYWAY and emphasize you had done your due diligence but never got a return call. This place only stamps all our coins (no bills ...that's Ottawa) and other countries as well...just a mere ONE BILLION a year !!!!! A shout out to the marvelously informative Olivier whose appreciation of his years of working education in the numerous departments at The Mint was displayed in his effusive anecdotes during the tour. BTW.......NO PHOTOS INSIDE....as I learned too late!!!!!

Math will open any doors. Integrity and attention to detail. I was permitted an unescorted tour. I have the credentials I hold due to my ability of math, and integrity, honour and vigilance. Given. Math will open doors for you. The Mint was highly organized with obvious care and attention to detail. Their primary focus is apparent. They care about currency resilience and circulation sustainability/ resiliency. I am personally confident they mean it. They have banners regarding high safety practices, and given the high tech they had on their forklift, this I also feel is true. Thank you sir, for the high honour and privilege you allowed me. I will never forget. David

Very nice!! Alana was our tour guide, and she was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and funny. I recommend getting a guided experience. I also went on the weekend, so the machines weren't operational, but it was still enjoyable because of the tour guide. No photos/videos are allowed upstairs whether you are on tour or not. I had my phone out to type up all the interesting bits of information from the tour guide, which was pretty much everything she said. It's definitely worth the visit.

Surprisingly interesting for all ages! It's worth it just to see the building, and I highly recommend joining a tour. It's a bit more difficult with those with trouble walking (especially elderly or toddlers), but overall it's accessible for everyone. It's highly enjoyable, and the staff are very knowledgeable and cheerful. However, I wouldn't plan on making an entire day out of it. I would recommend checking out the display cases and asking staff questions about them. Fun for collectors and newbies alike.

The overall experience at the Royal Canadian Mint was fantastic, the tour was decently paced, informative and funny! The only downside o have about the experience is how inaccessible the place is. Taking public transit there is a nightmare as the buses stop 20 minutes away and you have to walk next to a highway. Also the premises of the mint itself so not have sidewalks which give it a very hostile welcome to those who didn't drive into the place.

We’ve visited both locations (Winnipeg and Ottawa) in the last week and found them to complement each other well. The guide offer plenty of historical and factual information as well as being very passionate about the mint. You get to see most of the departments in action and better understand the process of minting Canadian and international circulation coins. Well worth the price of admission. Make sure to book ahead via their website.

Great place to get educated about everything this place does! Sure is a lot more than what you would think. Many commemorative coins for many different people and things. Some coins are minted in pure gold. Info on folks involved in design and much more. Sorry we weren't able to get in on a tour. Flags of nations gives you a chance to learn even more. If you are in Winnipeg don't miss this and call ahead to book a tour!

We went here on a beastly hot day in August and it was very enjoyable. You can see the place by doing a tour and our tour guide was knowledgeable, engaging and could handle questions well. Not really interesting for very young children - maybe minimum age for those interested would be about 10? They do seem to have some type of activity book for kids though. Worth a visit.

This is a must go place where you witness production of coins. Was lucky enough to witness production of coins for another country in process. There is need to book in advance so as to enjoy the guided tour. You can also enjoy the free unguided tour anytime you visit. Souvenirs include 1 carat crushed gold in a cute small bottle as well as gold and/or silver coins

had a wonderful tour by some sweet young lady named... Karen. She will show you her cool collection of crushed coins and coin accessories from her sick apron. Hopefully on the tour you get to see the Coin Crusher 2000 where the bad coins go. Very exciting place. And the gift ship is designed to keep you searching for the perfect gift for hours. 5* loved it.

Had an excellent experience and the Winnipeg Royal Canadian Mint. I would recommend a tour to those who are coming by the facility and try to request Olivier if you can! He was a fantastic guide that brought his many years of experience and coin expertise into his explanations and conversations. The facility is a very interesting piece of Canadian history !

I definitely made a mistake of not visiting it earlier. Such a beautiful building! I stopped by to buy a gift and happy I did. The store assistant Miriam is extremely friendly, knows her coins and all about the museum. Will be coming back for an even in January and for a tour with my son. If you haven’t visited this amazing place I highly recommend you do!

Had the opportunity to visit the mint in May 2023.I can easily say they are must visit facility.Took the guided tour and it turned out to be the best in the class. Our guide "Alyena" explained the process and handled all queries like a pro. Coming out of the tour shop they have a very well fair priced souvenir boutique having large collection of unique coins and other merchandise worth collecting. Good job Alyena and team Winnipeg Mint.

I would like to visit again during the weekdays. If it's your first time visiting the Mints, following with a tour guide will help you to understand more information and more about the coins’ history. We are only available to take photos of the first-floor ~ so for all the fun and knowledge about the mints, I recommend you join their tour.

Wow! Who knew it could be so cool!!! The tour was FANTASTIC, though I wish I could have been part of a slightly smaller group. Not as much as I had expected to see in the gift shop, but they still had so much cool stuff! The tour guides were so knowledgeable and fascinating! Even my kids liked it!

Very informative tour this morning at The Mint. Kade was a very good tour guide. The Boutique has a great selection of Collector coins and other Canadian souvenirs. You can visit and checkout the store or book a guided tour as well. Very impressive coin production here for 80 countries.

There on a Saturday so machines weren’t in motion but educational nonetheless. 35 minute tour walking through the coin manufacturing process. Can’t go into the rooms for security and safety reasons but can see everything from windows. Pictures not allowed on second floor. Learned Winnipeg mint has made circulation coins for 80 countries and how colour is applied

Kade was our tour guide and he did an excellent job! I highly recommend his tour. Kade was very knowledgeable and friendly and he made the tour fun and interesting for all ages. He was also very able and willing to answer any questions. I hope you enjoy your tour!

Tour guide was great! Answered questions and they had a cute scavenger hunt for the kids. We were disappointed as we were looking forward to the coin stamp machine to be working. Out of order. Bought the beautiful 2023 national indigenous peoples day coin set.

You don't need to be a visitor to Winnipeg to visit this gem. Took the tour over the Christmas break and what a learning experience. Our young tour guide was an encyclopedia on coins. Highly recommend Winnipegers and visitors to Winnipeg to visit our Royal Canadian Mint.

The staff is very nice and have so much knowledge about this museum. (Great service!) It’s interesting what will you see here but kinda boring (not interactive at all), i think is better weekday so you can see people making money. Oh and it’s FREE! Unless you wish a guided tour.

Went there for the first time today with some family, our tour guide Maya was more than friendly and nice to lead the tour. Will definitely be coming here with everyone visiting Winnipeg.

Beautiful but a bit small in the shopping area. You can book a tour at some different intervals during the day at around $ 8-10/ pax. No picture taking is allowed of the factory. You can buy some gold coin as souvenir of up to $5000. This place is closed on Sunday .

  • MARC ROY

The machines were closed when I went usually during the week the machines are running you can take any pictures or videos on the inside the outside is very beautiful there’s lots of geese walking around with your babies and you can buy coins at the gift shop

  • Claire Kaiser

Very unique looking building! Highly recommend going on a tour (better to go on a weekday so you can see the machines working). The gift shop has some unique collector coins to buy. Loved the little tidbits of information from the tour.

  • Carola Little

We had a great visit here. Be sure to call ahead for a reservation for a tour. They book up. But its well worth it. Informative presentation, yet with lots of fun little stories and tidbits to keep it interesting. Highly recommend it!

  • Kanchan Kumar

It was very informative and fun. The ticket price is $12. Would suggest visiting by car, the public transport is not well connected to this place.
