Had the honor of meeting Mr. John Tosh, Museum Director and one of his great volunteers and vice president, John Soria. What an experience it was. This place is incredible. I challenge everyone to visit this museum. Donate one hour of your time or money. They desperately need your help. It might be hot because this museum is in a hanger. But it is worth every minute of touring. What these men and women did for our freedom is one of the greatest things to be grateful and be proud to be in America! Challenge your children to volunteer one hour of their time to help. You will take this memory in your heart forever.

Great tour guide. So informative. I didn't realize the Stinson family was played such an important role in flight history around the world. This museum has chairs to sit during the presentation or breaks along the tour. There are bathrooms available and a gift shop. I highly recommend this place. This is a museum. There are fragile items, displays, aircraft etc. So please keep a watchful eye on your children. There is free parking on site. The museum building is an old aircraft hangar so it is cold in the winter and extremely hot in the summer. So choose your visit date accordingly. I'd also recommend eating at the Big Bib down the street inside Stinson Airport.

Better than a movie ! Why ? Because this is History!. My Son enjoyed every airplane and It feed his imagination. I bought him a Pilot Badge and two airplanes in the gift shop. We'll Be Back. . ***Fast foward to September 22 , 2020 It's one year later. My son still loves ," Aviation ," and had his first one hour," Air Tour ," in a Cesna. Always encourage your child's interest. My Son's dream is to become a pilot and I'll do everything I can to help you achieve that Dream ," My Son." Love You Buddy . One year ago the museum feed his imagination and now he's been up in the air.

A must see for people with an engineering background or mindset. This jewel has many items that would not make it into a larger meusem where the focus is on the general public and the "wow factor" of large aircraft. He you find machine and motor artifacts of the past along side unique aircraft and aircraft reproductions. Turbine engines, radio equipment, and a machine gun trainer are a few of the items you get to see up close and admire the workmanship and ingenuity of past generations. Highly recommend if you want an experience different than the typical air museum.

So the building is an old hangar. It’s a bit dirty & dusty - it’s no Smithsonian. BUT, this is clearly a labor of love. Mr. Tosh & his volunteers run an excellent local museum. This is an important nod to the role of & connections with SA has in relation to (military) aviation. There’s a small space with chairs in which a few people can view a historic speech JFK gave in Texas the day before the tragedy in Dallas. This alone is worth the visit. There are exhibits & planes kids can climb on & in. My students loved it.

An eclectic museum featuring a lot of information about a lot of things. Not sure I would rate it with the best I have seen but for the location and budget, I think it was well worth the visit. Quite a few interesting displays and most of the stuff had good description cards and it was easy to navigate. Staff was friendly and helpful and it is definitely handicap accessible all being on one level with a concrete floor. The outside aircraft were in miserable shape but - that goes with the elements.

A hidden gem. The owner and volunteer staff made us so very welcome, as did Snoopy the museum dog. It was a pleasure to visit and everyone was so kind. Thank you from Paul and Joanne. We had a wonderful time exploring the planes, trains and space explorers from the past. We loved the huge planes to get up and close to. We also enjoyed pictures in a plane. The prices are great but you should bring cash. Maybe don’t go when it’s super hot because there’s no AC inside. The little one got really hot . We loved learning about Katherine Stinson who was amazing woman who flew one of the first air balloons and also was one of the early aviators ✈️

What a gem! Many thanks to John Tosh and his associates for making us feel so welcome during our overnight stay. The museum was a real delight filled with memorabilia spanning many decades. Very quiet at night and close to downtown, the Alamo and the River Walk. Spent 1 night here. No power, water or sewer, but you park on a grassy level spot and we had 5 RV's staying here on the night we were here. There was space for all. Thank you again Texas Air Museum.

I go to this place about once every 10 years and was not prepared for the extreme growth as they have consolidated it with the old museum from Kelly Field. My dad learned how to fly at Kelly Field during WW 1. While you are here it is worthwhile to go to the old terminal at Stinson field. It is still operating now but in the early 1900s it was San Antonio's airport and the photos on the walls are fascinating.

If you have even a slight interest in historic military aviation, this is worth the stop. We spent over 3 hours here and enjoyed every minute. The curator knows his stuff and can answer just about any question you can throw at him. In fact, be sure to ask him about the Stinson family who founded this airport. It's an amazing story that sets up the entire visit. Very affordable way to spend a day.

Hey all you history buffs, you gotta come here to see an eclectic collection of World War l & ll stuff, from planes, uniforms, gear and highlighting many heroes. The volunteers are so kind and helpful. Great place to take well behaved grandkids during the summer.

It's a great museum for Aviation buffs. Not a lot of aircraft but the displays of everything about the history of aviation in San Antonio is definitely on point. Besides, anyplace that has a super friendly, super cute museum doggie named Snoopy is #1 with me.

It's not Smithsonian quality. Many mannequins and display cases look like hand-me-downs. But what they lack in pizazz, they make up for in volume and history. The admission fee is low--and I rarely say that. If you are really interested in reading everything, you could easily spend the whole day here. I ended up spending an hour and a half. Enjoyed the curator as well.

Visited this museum with my son and his boy scout troop a few years ago. We stayed for awhile after the troop departed because there was so much more to see. It may not have the bells and whistles that bigger museums have but what it does have is authenticity. It is a great museum and a great tribute to those who served. Will definitely come here again.

Awesome museum, went with in-laws and had a great time. The kids loved it too. Like the other Google poster said, really hope Congress or someone steps in to give this place more funding for AC. There are so many important pieces of history here definitely visit!

This is truly a hidden gem in San Antonio. Wow, I had no idea such rich history in aviation there was here. I know we're military city USA, but dating way back to WWI and WWII. Definitely recommend to visit with the whole family

This is definitely a labor of love. There is a great variety of items to see. Took us about 90 minutes to look through everything. Was definitely worth the price of admission. If we are ever in the area again, we will come back and see what’s new! Be sure to stop and give snoopy some puppy scratches and belly rubs. He’s a great dog.

We really enjoyed our tour of Stinson Air Museum. They had all of the history of Army and Air Force planes, equipment,uniforms, etc. from all of the posts and bases around San Antonio. Rod Roberts was our tour guide. He did a GREAT JOB. Thank you Rod. They also have a museum mascot dog by the name of SNOOPY. Very friendly doggie.

This place is filled with both civilian and military aviation memorabilia, as well as some old aircraft and replicas. If you are an aviation enthusiast, I would highly recommend stopping. We spent about two hours there, but did not take the time to read most of the information or we would've been there for several more hours.

The Texas Air Museum has an extraordinary collection of aeronautical history for enthusiasts. There are numerous models exhibits, dioramas, and actual aircraft (military and civilian) which enables the visitor to become part of aviation history! The museum provides more opportunity to let your dreams of flight awaken!

Enjoyed the museum with my hubby, who REALLY enjoyed it. It's a bit pricey, but it does take several hours to complete. They have a cafe which was good. Had to buy a very cool fitted t-shirt.

I had a great day here at the museum with family. So much to see and the fee to get in was a great price! All staff were so friendly and explained information very well! The museum has a cute dog who is like their mascot! Overall it was a great experience and we had a great time!!!

A place with quite and interesting materials to admire, a bit old and it seems somewhat abandoned but culturally good and excellent people work here, with a bit of luck on your visit you can see helicopter landings up close next to it, it is a place that yes I recommend visiting

We had an awesome time at the Texas Air Museum! Tim and Moni gave us such a great tour. There was an unbelievable amount of things to see. In addition, they have a great amount of displays that deal specifically with San Antonio and Texas aviation history. Well worth it!

This museum has been on our list for a while and we were finally able to make the trip. So worth it to see all of these planes and artifacts. Volunteers do a great job running it were very informative. Easy to get to and lots of interesting history on the Stinson family.

Today we showed up and I was just amazed at what I saw. It's a great place to stop by for a research analyst and if you have served before. I wanted to stay longer but we had things to do and i just took one picture cause it better you go in to see for your self.

Spend a lovely afernoon here with my family. The people were super friendly have have the best stories to tell. The layout is nice and easy to navigate. It's not a huge space, but it contains lots of wonderful exibits. Worth the go if you are interested.

Great place to learn about recently retired aircraft, general history of aviation and other assorted interesting historical facts. They are hosts in the Harvest Host network so members can camp overnight. Dry camping with no hook ups.

The man who greeted us (Pete Jones), was really a great way to be greeted. There were some cats and it smelled bad but you don't really notice. Very entertaining experience and very cheap. Be sure to ask as many questions as possible.

Facilties may need some TLC, but it was an excellent experience! Soo much more than I expected and volunteers were mazing! Stayed here overnight via harvest host-- 42' fifth wheel fit easily. Would definitely recommend …

A lot of military displays mostly based on aviation. However, other military fields were also covered. Very interesting display on youth, as young as 12, who have served and a display of fighter aces from Texas.

Great for a good introduction to women's history in the US Air force and memorabilia. Should get more looks. A whole in the wall outside of San Antonio. Worth a stop and very affordable. Being cash though.

Every Educational! They had planes that I thought were only in documentaries. " Flying Saucer" Lots of artifacts it's a must visit for early plane enthusiastic. My son and I loved it.
