Service was nice and quick. Adequate staff to serve even when busy. Ordered pie and milkshake, and received with table service within 5 minutes. Nice and large milkshake. Pie from pie-oven was warm, not hot. Taste/texture was okay. Other options on their shelves was a very good range of bread, cakes, biscuits, and with salad rolls/toasted sandwiches made to order. Fairly simple decor, and local hole in the wall feeling. Clean and tidy seating areas. The staff were happy and prompt to cater to request for water refill. No bathroom. May come again.

Great friendly staff affordable traditional old school classic bakery:) This is a family business... not a food chain run by 15 year olds This family delivers to the customers with the customer being priority no 1 Not a share holder insight No fake trendy people to be seen Fair prices like it used to be You feel like you are welcomed and belong .... like you would with family Again ,the pricing is such a relief and is run by honest heartfelt people who know what they are doing Great Music piped through he sound system... classic 80's songs and not to loud:) Magazines and Newspapers to read which are supplied free to you while you enjoy your headspace Plenty of room to sit inside and out A Bakery lost in time... really good time with a great tempo Thank you Sandy Bay Bakery❤️ Brenton (BJ) Bayly

Went here for a couple of salad boxes, quiche and takeaway teas a couple of days ago. The quiche and salad boxes were delicious. The tea wasn’t great - it was too milky and the cup was so hot you couldn’t hold it! Anyway, the salad boxes were so good, we decided to go back the next day and ordered 4 more. However this time we got far less in them - no olives, avocado and generally less salad. It was really disappointing as they’re not cheap at $10 each. What made it worse was that they said they’d run out of wooden takeaway knives so we had to eat it with just a fork that day!

Extremely friendly, Charged my phone (in the kitchen) for me while I had a Curry Pie & Awesome Carrot Cake, & my partner had a Pie, Sausage Roll & Chocolate Éclair. Brought 2 our table with cutlery & all. Don't expect table service when paying REAL BAKERY Prices..?!! ☆ Food/Prices - were Hands Down the BEST we'd experienced in the 5 days were in Hobart. I think pies were roughly $4-ish & Cake/Èclair were $3- THANKS GUYS!!

Very friendly service, and good prices. Their sweets look pretty good, but I wasn't as much of a fan of their savory pies and rolls. Still, they do a TON of business, so I must be in the minority. I'd say it's worth a shot if you're in the mood for baked goods. Alternatively, if I was to go back I'd probably head to Burger Got Soul nearby, and stop here for a sweet and coffee afterward.

I'm not a local but I really loved this bakery. A great coffee and muffin combo for about $7-$8. We visited this bakery everyday during lockdown because I enjoyed they're takeaway coffee so much (and it was only 500m away so part of our 'daily' exercise ;). Recommended but if you want a fancy interior maybe go elsewhere like Daci & Daci down the road.

My favourite city bakery/café for lunch. So reliable re quality of food and service from staff. Always yesterday's specials to go at reduced cost and always room to sit and watch S'Bay go by. Salads to write home about and pastries quiche pies of good quality. Treat yourself.

The food in this shop is incredible. Also, the price is very reasonable. In addition, their service are unbiased and pleasant. I like the cake since it is not that sweet. It is just an ordinary looking shop and you might miss it when passing by but it really deserves a try.

This is a Sandy Bay institution that has been a hit with locals for decades. Wonderfully fresh food and great people. Nothing much ever changes - it's just excellent.

Easily my favourite bakery in Hobart. Prices simply can't be beaten and considering the quality nobody is about to complain. Many locals stop here and you know most of them have been coming by for years! You know you're in the right place.

Lovely food, everything is perfect, and the taste is nicely balanced. Lamington and sponge cake is really nice, we went back the other day to get more.

Ham and salad rolls should be renamed carrot rolls as this is mostly all that is in the roll- very disappointed you should use less filler and put more actual salad in the roll. I won't be back to buy another unless I become a rabbit.

  • Faye Samie

Blunt service and asked if I can have a few napkins... They told me to get it off the table full of people.... Sure. This place has potential but I don't think they really care how it's run. Won't be back in a hurry

Nice staff, but over priced and quite frankly well below standard (mince/mush filled) pies - left feeling dissapointed.

Great food at incredible prices. It's everything you ever wanted in a bakery plus the day old brake goods specials are always there for a penny pincher. The rum balls are tassie's best !!

  • Richard Dearden

I come here for the delicious APPLE SLICES and FRUIT BUNS reminiscent of my childhood. As is the whole place - an "original" suburban bakery. P.S. be early for the apple slices.

  • Robert Cotgrove

If you like pies, this is the place to come to. They even have a magnificent lentil and vegetable pie (and other options) for vegetarians. Their sweet treats are delicious too.

A pleasant little bakery. Clean, obliging staff. Take away or eat in or tables on the pavement. Wide range of bakery foods and sandwiches and rolls are freshly made to order.
