My friends recommend trying their honey cake. It was really lovely. but that is all. The honey cake, which is the most popular one was wonderful. But other things, service, food was..... I recommend coffee and the honey cake only. No food there, not worthy. I've read lots of good reviews about "friendly staffs" but they weren't very friendly to me. I've visited there with my partner. We sat outside, and I was the one who went to counter and ordered food and drink. I've thought what if my partner went to counter to order They might be friendly? Because he is a native english speaker? I might think too much, but I just happened to see that they were very friendly as described in reviews to other lady the day I've visited, and found out most of review about not very good service in google are written by non-white person. If you are from non-English speak countries, you might have a similar experience I had. Cake was definitely worthy, but nothing else. Food was alright, not bad, not good. service was...

During our family trip to Richmond TAS in April 2023, we stumbled upon a hidden gem called Czeg's Cafe, and it turned out to be a delightful surprise. From the moment we stepped inside, we knew we had found a special place. First and foremost, the coffee and breakfast offerings at Czeg's Cafe were absolutely fantastic. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Claire for making our experience at Czeg's Cafe truly unforgettable. She went above and beyond to ensure our visit was enjoyable, taking the time to chat with our daughters and make them feel special. It was evident that Claire's hospitable conversations were not just part of her job, but a reflection of her kind and caring nature. Czeg's Cafe is truly blessed to have someone like Claire as part of their team. Her bravery in forging connections and creating a welcoming environment sets an example for others to follow.

My husband loves Devonshire Tea & scones . These are THE BEST he has ever had . I thought they were pretty nice too ! They make their on jam , cream is freshly made with vanilla beans . The scones are perfection . The service is friendly . We met with the owner as she was serving guests . She is wonderfully friendly too … Overall perfection …. Beautiful clean welcoming feel to the tea house … Bonus she loves animals and was excited to feed my left over scone ( I’m a small eater ) ( husband had no crumbs for them ) to the birds outside our window …. She crushed it up for them and left it by their hedge … Very cute and thoughtful . A must visit .

The honey cake is really good but they treat us very rude. When we still enjoying our lunch, they put the "Reserve" on our table straightly and told us to leave in five minutes. Maybe because we didn't order main course spend too little money not worthy to sit down. Or because our Asian we will say nothing and leave. Yes you're right. We leave just because you already accept the booking from next customer. If this booking accepted before we sit down, you should let us know, we can choose sit down or not. There is not only you one coffee shop in Richmond. If the booking accepted after we sit down, you should ask us first. We can say no if we don't want to leave. There're still many empty table outside when we leave. They destroyed my day. We will not come back anymore.

So disappointed, we were one of only 2 groups in the restaurant for breakfast on a weekend. Guy at the counter took our order; coffee came relatively promptly and was fine but 50 minutes later still no food despite other groups who came after us receiving food. When we queried, the order was found on the counter and hadn't made it to the kitchen. Another 15 minutes and the food finally arrived. Unfortunately the eggs were barely lukewarm, so all round very disappointed. In instances such as this, a gesture of offering a free coffee would've been an appropriate response but sadly all we received was a less than enthusiastic 'sorry' for the mix-up.

This has become our new favourite brunch spot. We come to Czegs with our fur baby , and he absolutely loves the attention he gets from the staff. The lovely lady with blonde hair who works kn Sunday always ensures we have enough water in the bowl . Food is great , and there is a huge variety of pastries , cakes and coffee to chose from . The atmosphere both inside and outside is so welcoming and vintage( high tea vibes ) . Highly recommend . The bill usually is around $60-70 for two adult brunches with coffee and sides for the fur baby .

Very cute eclectic cafe to dine in. Kitchen closes at 3pm for meals but they have toasties, scones and cakes available after this time. Feels a bit cluttered but many interesting things to look at on the walls/shelves. Service was terrific. Food and drinks were prepared quickly and bought to the table by a young waiter who was very helpful with his suggestions. Food is of a good quality and good size serves. Flavorsome and plentiful meals. Would highly recommend this cafe. The Russian honey cake is to die for but a little expensive at $12 per slice. Devonshire tea comes with one quite sizeable scone, fresh cream (had sugar added which I didnt like so much) and delicious raspberry jam.

Honestly the food here is lovely. I have been twice in the past three days however, the customer service is pretty bad. Every staff member I have encountered has an attitude like the don't want to be there. Everything seems like an effort. There is not warmth in the service, no smile, food is just plonked on the table without a work uttered. The gentlemen who served me today was nothing short of docile. As a business owner, if my staff conducted themselves this way I would not be impressed. Customer service is just as important as the product you're selling. Your staff need retraining and educating in pleasantness, it costs nothing to smile.

Czeg’s Richmond is one of the most old classy cafe. All the things in the cafe takes you back to the early 90’s period. The atmosphere is lovely, customer service is exceptional. The food is delicious, the chef have got some magic for sure. Lots of street parking. I personally do think menu is a bit overpriced compared to the market but having said that, i am happy to pay a bit extra when the food quality and standards are so good.

Came back to Cafe after 6yrs from Brisbane. Recommended to my family. We arrived for breakfast. Totally disappointed! Service was terrible, so slow, had to ask for a sausage roll 3 times. All that was needed was a microwave to warm it up. Waited 45mins for service. Sadly my friends & family were all so disappointed with this Cafe. Staff need training in service, how to prioritise and organise. Not coming back!

Everything is baked and prepared fresh! The freshly baked sourdough bread was delicious in the mushroom fricassee! The HONEY CAKE was an absolute delight, it was light, soft and creamy, the honey drizzle and fresh cream paired perfectly. It is the BEST honey cake my friends and I ever had! Great selection of tea served in silverware and pretty tea cups. The owner Lucy (her talented son baked all the delicious food) is very upbeat and friendly, great recommendations. Thank you for having us at your cafe on our last day in Tasmania. Must come back!!

We had lunch here today, the place is super nice, we loved the decoration and all the details you can see all around the shop! Food was ok, the duck was a bit dry but still tasty. We ordered one vegan risotto and got the vegetarian one, so we had to ask to change it! They were pretty quick to fix the issue. Coffee was ok but not amazing. Apple crumble was delicious and the vegan brownie was ok. We recommend ❤️

Came here with my wife randomly (the cafe looks beautiful from outside) and certainly cozy and Boutique European style from inside as well. Saw the special pumpkin soup board for $16 and thought this is expensive, but it was a cold day so my wife and I both ordered the soup. Man, it was THE best pumpkin soup I’ve ever had, and totally worth the price. Finished off our day with the Russian Caravan black tea and Almond croissant and their most popular dessert, Russian honey cake. Do your self a favour and don’t miss out this place!

The honey cake was delicious. The young woman serving was super unfriendly and made us feel very uncomfortable. Her body language made it clear she felt it was a hassle to serve us. We were going to stay and have Devonshire tea, but the vibes, and seeing scones being reheated in the microwave, made us decide to take our cake and run

Located right at the corner of a cross junction. Parking available along the street. The cafe is in original building that has been around since 1831 Retro, welcoming vibe. All the staff are very welcoming and friendly. There are few different indoor seating rooms & outdoor seating available. Scones were fresh and delicious. Big breakfast portion is generous & good. Chocolate croissant is yummy and not too sweet. Good coffee.

Apart from being a cafe, this cafe is definitely an Instagram photo spot in town. It holds hundreds of antiques which includes; collection of metallic tea pots, chandeliers, framed posters and pictures which depicts the rustic memories of Australia. Like every other place in town, this cafe has very friends staff. The cake was very delicious - the honey lemon cake is a must try. All the drinks are very delicious. Check out their backyard for a lovely outdoor dining experience.

Food is ok but extremely poor customer service. The order turned out wrong the waitress kept showing us the paper she wrote, but of course we just told her the order and didn't look at what she was writing. How ridiculous. We were willing to pay half the price to have it changed but she insisted that we have to pay in full. She wasn't even willing to compromise to rectify the mistake.

This one star rating is based on the customer service that I being treated. One of the female staff who took our order was really unfriendly and I think she’s probably racist as we can feel the differences that how’s she treated the local. The foods and honey cake they famous for are really superb with no doubt! Hopefully the owner improve your staffs attitude and behaviour

Lovely dinning place, located on the main road. It has tables in garden as well, would be very nice on sunny days. Pros: unique decoration - silverwares, friendly staff, dishes are well presented and nice as well. Cons: just a little thing - if the two dishes were a bit warmer, it would be excellent. Overall, I would come back again.

Czeg's Cafe. Great local style cafe with beautiful interior and famous Russian style honey cake. The Russian honey cake is must try menu. Sweet and rich honey flavor. There are a range of tables you can choose from sunny outside seats, back side garden, side of the building, sunny window side indoor with beautiful interior. Next time, I also want to try chocolate vegan cake.

We had the vegetarian dumplings and honey cake with coffee. Awesome coffee but the best part was the food!! Such a good honey cake, actually pretty close to what I am used to in Europe. And the vegetarian dumplings.. don’t really know what was going on there but they were sooooo delicious!!! Thank you!! Really good and a service with a smile. Awesome job guys!!

We were provided a private room, the decor inside was so cute with all the little details. I’m not really a big fan of honey BUT the honeycake was soo yummy, it wasn’t too overly sweet as well. The chips we ordered was also soooo gooood , definitely a good memory at Tassie regards from Sydney

Friendly staff. Nice classic setting with ample seating space including a back yard. Food, beverages and cake was amazing. We had the English breakfast and piccolo which was fantastic - they use local Vilino beans. Pasta was well seasoned and very yummy. The Russian honey cake is to die for. Very happy to come back here again to try rest of the menu.

While this cafe seems small in size from the street, the outdoor area provided a tranquility to the afternoon with plenty of seats to spare. The duck stir-fry and risotto were heavenly and well paired, and the coffee felt right. Wish we could have stayed all afternoon…

A hidden gem on the Main Street of Richmond. Unassuming classic cafe with a very cozy interior with lots of tables. Food was a delightful mix of cuisines and we had the duck fried rice and chorizo and chicken risotto. Generous servings and truly delicious food. Loved the collection of silver teapots and service was excellent.

What a wonderful place to visit, relax, enjoy the tea, or coffee, tasty cakes, smoothly for the children. Sit inside or out the back garden and relax.  So when in Tasmania,  visit Richmond and this Cafe, while in Richmond go feed the duck and at the same time see the oldest  bridge in Australia build by the convicts.
