Disappointing experience. Had a booking for Mother's Day brunch, but food was served over an hour after ordering. With parking outside only being 2 hours we had to eat fast. Management simply replied by saying it was a nice day to be in the atrium. When we mentioned the limits on the parking, management were unaware of the requirements outside of their own restaurant. We have had positive experiences previously but this was extremely disappointing. It looked like additional tables had been brought in for the day, which would have put extreme pressure on the kitchen. Two disappointed mothers on their special day. Addition - Thanks for your reply. I just want to clarify a few points 1) I have confirmed with our group and there was no explanation about the grill. Had we been informed by any of the staff then this would have resulted in a more positive experience. (However this grill issue had no influence on our children's meals coming out - although these were ordered before the adults food) 2) in relation to the parking I did initially try in Evans St, but many workers on Hobart will take that parking. I am aware that many of our hardworking staff at the Hospitals use this area on weekends. 3) I did not suggest or request any staff to drive cars around. This entered the conversation, because I incorrectly assumed that Jam Packed is part of the Henry Jones Hotel, and I understand they have parking concierges. Given the delay in our orders and timed parking, I asked if a concierge may be able to move our cars to avoid parking fines, given that the meals were likely to come out when the 2 hour limit was up. (And no you cannot simply top up parking now there are sensors installed) In response a staff member "offered" to drive the cars around (but we wouldn't want that). In response, and jokingly, suggested this would be a cheaper option than a parking fine, to which I provided the issues of parking in Hunter St (above). As I have mentioned that we have had previous positive experiences at Jam Packed, but today there was no mention of issues with the grill.

I visited jam packed today with my work colleagues for a baby shower/meeting. The food was lovely and wait staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the end of our experience ruined our impression of this place and I am not sure we will return due to it. We had the Devonshire tea and two of us had a scone left over which we wanted to take away with us as they were so nice, my colleague paid the bill in full and asked the nice waitress at the counter for something to put the scones in to takeaway. We were provided a paper bag and the girl went to get some small containers for the jam and cream. My colleague said to me “oh I need a spoon” and was intending to politely ask the waitress when she returned. A lady who was at the coffee machine heard this and rolled her eyes very dramatically in front of us and abruptly grabbed a spoon from in front of her and shoved it in my colleagues face without saying a word then walked away. I don’t feel that we were rude and this behaviour was necessary. I don’t know what may be going on in this woman’s life but this sort of behaviour towards customers leaves a lasting impression. I personally loved the food and seating area but would not return or recommend this place to anyone I know due to this experience and fear of this happening again.

Such a disappointing Mother's Day brunch. Our booking was at 10am. Kids meals ordered at 1010, Adults ordered 1020. Kids food arrived at 1045. At 1100 we enquired how long it would take for ours, we were told they were busy and apologiesed for the delay. We started seeing smaller tables being served food before us, despite them arriving and ordering well after us. Not once we're we asked if we would like more drinks while we waited. My brother asked again where our meals were, again we were told they were flat out. The owner then came over and said our meals were being plated up and ' wasn't it a lovely day to be sitting in the atrium'! No apology and definitely no explanation. I note you have commented on my husband's review saying the griller was broken but we were never advised if this 'reason'! The owner also didn't seem to be aware of parking limits etc in the area around his cafe. Sadly we had to eat fast and leave so we didn't get a fine. Suffice to say, we won't be back and we won't be recommending this cafe.

We got off a cruise from Sydney to Tasmania and decided to grab a cup of coffee. I walked in the coffee shop and was greeted by the rudest waitress I have ever met. The attitude on this lady was out if this world. Instead of being nice and hospitable ( since majority of their business im guessing us coming from the cruise passengers) , she was rude, angry and unprofessional. Anyways so I ordered 2 coffees and a muffin. After waiting around 15 minutes for then I got uo and went to the bench to ask how long, at this stage she ( short black hair lady) yelled and said it's gone be 5 minutes and for me to go take a seat. As we were about to lose our shuttle tour, I told her we are in a bit of a rush after 17 minutes of waiting. She ignored us again. I ended up leaving without my coffee and muffin and they didn't even refund my money. Worst experience I have ever had.

The worst attitude from the business owner that I have witnessed. We arrived sat in a lounge just prior to ordering, my wife had taken my hat along with the other goods purchased at the markets and the wooden boat festival. I left her to sit while I went to the toilet. On returning, I could not see her, nor was the furniture upon where I left her. She had been relocated by the owner. After our ice cream and drinks are consumed I realised that my hat was missing. We explained what had happened but the owner was not concerned, nor did he show any care. The hat would have been safe had he not shifted Natalia along armed with bags, both hers and mine. I am a business owner who along with awesome staff have achieved many awards. This man has courteous staff but is inhibited by his own lack of empathy

Service was quite bad, we made a booking on Saturday for the sofa seat but they only reserved a normal table seat for us, the manager on Sunday asked me to wait till the customers in the sofa area to finish their meal and said it was not a big deal where to sit, we have 3 adults and two young kids, sofa will be easier for us, we turned to Mures instead where has far better service! Thanks for replying my review Jam Packed, i think you have given some false information, I asked the lady manager how long I need to wait for the Couch but she said she didn’t know, no one said 5 minutes! the couch they offered to me is only the one next to the entrance which is supposed to provide to the customer who were waiting for the takeaway, and it is not enough for 3 adults and 2kids at all!

It’s time Jam Packed closed. The most appalling service in Hobart, waited 35 minutes to be served by a rude waitress and ended up getting take away dry banana bread. We had to ask for it to be toasted warm. No butter / cutlery was offered. Staff have zero care factor and no service skills. The main waitress lady is rude. We had to ask for menus. Another waitress was too busy collecting dirty glasses instead of collecting orders. She said she “was busy” in front of a male owner but couldn’t care less about diners when he wasn’t there. Don’t waste your time going here. Such a shame it’s bringing IXL reputation down. 0/10

Disappointing outcome! We recently attending for breakfast with a large group of 18. Out of our entire table coffee's were missed and had to be chased up and then two meals were missed completely. Now although i understand this happens it was annoying that the two missing meals took a further 20-25 minutes for them to turn up and required us to ask staff twice for them. Then to top off the day when we received out bill be had been charged for 19 meals even though there was only 18 of us and I was required to debate with staff to have the extra meal removed. On a positive note the food was great it’s just a shame about the service and our overall experience was tainted from that.

  • kylie parker

Very poor form by staff on a dietary requirement. Despite double checking when ordering that we ordered the gluten free option meal and again asking when it was delivered to the table that the bread was gluten free and being dismissively told it’s all gluten free, waitress then advises (when half meal is eaten) that oh it’s actually not gluten free. This careless mistake triggered a migraine and intense nausea and gut pain and all before boarding a flight for home. Lift your game Jam Packed and educate your staff on the seriousness of food allergies. If someone orders a gluten free option, check with the chef that it’s actually gluten free…. no excuses!

  • Nic Nemo

I would have given this 4 stars if the service at the end was better… waited ages to pay with staff walking past me, then no ‘Thankyou’ at the end when paying… Great service from our waitress at the start & throughout, Nice outdoor/covered area, nice ambience. My husband ordered a Bircher muesli but was disappointed; not enough yoghurt provided so it was dry & when he asked for more yoghurt (stating it was dry) we were charged for it. He also said it was very bland, not pleasant at all… I had eggs & bacon with ad ons of avocado & mushrooms. It was nice, though nothing amazing. With all the great eating places in Hobart, we won’t be rushing back.

Service has always been sketchy, but on my last two visits has reached an all-time low. Last visit it took 20mins for my order to be taken, and then the kitchen sent out the incorrect meal. OK, everyone has bad days. Today, after 20mins at the table (in full view of the staff who were busy talking among themselves) I had to approach them to order and request to speak with the manager. Awesome location, and good food (when the order is right) but totally spoilt by exceedingly poor service & weak badly made coffee. What a terrible shame.

Our family ordered three kid’s meals for three children, who later decided to swap food with the adults. However, the staff said because adults ate the meal instead, they must charge the adult price for the kids. The owner and two female staff members were extremely hostile and screamed at me after I brought up this issue with them. Please be wary of the rude staff and lack of transparency when visiting this restaurant.

Not recommended. Was a nice location by the harbour in the lovely old IXL jams building. Poached eggs were cooked perfectly, but the whole breakfast was cold. The English muffin style bread was dry, the smashed avo had bits of red onion - not guacamole, but not plain avo (do one or the other, not an unpleasant mix somewhere in between). The bacon was just cooked so lots of flaccid white fat, I prefer the fat crisped up a little. Overall, wouldn’t recommend.

  • Daniel Brown

I ordered waffles and received less than a sprinkling of blueberries and a tiny swish of syrup. Nobody wants waffles with a hint or sprinkle of syrup. Either put a reasonable amount on them from the start or put it in a side dish so we can put it on ourselves. The waffles themselves were nice enough to eat. My partner had scrambled eggs which were tiny for the price and too salty. Overall quite disappointed given the availability of good cafes in the area.

  • Bernice O'Connor

Planned to have lunch at this lovely cafe, but had to change plans because of a very rude waitress. She was extremely unpleasant and rude. We had eaten there in the previous x2 days with no problem due to different staff on duty. She needs to find a job more suitable e.g morgue attendant. This occurred today 30/8/23 at about 1 45 ish. She had her hair pulled back.Would love some feedback from the owner of Jam Packed.

Just brilliant - we had a very limited amount of time to grab a quick brunch pre flight, and having tried 5 places with no success (fish & chips at 11am is wrong), we tried Jam Packed as a last resort before giving up & eating at the airport. The staff were lovely, brought us our food in record time and it was SUPERB. Great coffee too - will be back

  • Aron McNamara

The staff are so friendly (I'm talking about you Leo) and I just love the outdoor indoor cafe section. You will understand when you visit. The food is scrummy and the coffee is well made. When they have it try the cold pressed juices; they are super tasty. Don't forget that they open Tasmanian early so you can get your caffeine hit from 7am.

Extremely over priced and poor quality.($80 for two breakfasts). The food was below average. Generally undercooked and tasted average at best. I wouldn’t have written a review if I had been asked for any feedback at any point (during eating or when paying).

Very disappointed with breakfast today. We have loved breakfast here in the past but today, after a long wait, our breakfast was served up cold. Eggs were rubbery, mushrooms leathery and rye bread was impossible to cut with the butter knife provided. Not the first reviewer to mention the cold meals/ coffee. Lift your game Jam Packed.

  • Kerry Ho

Great coffee, even better service. The staff are fantastic. Reasonable prices for a great location. You can sit inside, outside on the sidewalk facing the docks or even in the covered atrium out back. We chose the atrium today to get out of the cool breeze, it was full of light and sunny, very pleasant and peaceful.

  • Georgia Browning

Poached eggs were perfect, as was the hollandaise. However, $20 for a mimosa? $30 for eggs Benedict, $25 for a breakfast burrito? We both found hair in our meals and when we notified waitstaff we got a disbelieving look even after showing the hairs. We won't ever go back because of the pricing, which is obscene.

Jame Packed Cafe is inside the old IXL Jam Factory. It is a warm inviting space with lots of light and friendly staff to take your orders and bring you food. I ate my breakfasts there in the mornings and found the fresh croissant and waffles to be wonderful. You will also see plenty of local art in this space.

  • K B

Lovely atmosphere, staff were friendly, ordered toasted chicken, cheese and mayo, it was chicken thigh looked revolting and not cooked, looked like it had been slapped together, was also cold ! One star for the Chia Latte which was perfect! First and last time i will be eating here pretty dissapointing ☹

Wow! What a fabulous place. The atrium out the back was gorgeous and warm, which is what you needed on a day like today. Nothing was too much trouble, gluten free options on most meals and made my young daughter some breakfast off menu. Service was lovely and food was delicious. Will be returning!

Absolutely Splendid Customer Service is Exemplary from email enquiries to face to face service I thoroughly enjoyed the coffee on offer there and the caramel slice is to die for Ample parking is available at the ambience is lovely although I didn't eat the food it did look fresh and tasty

Located in the old IXL Jam Factory this cafe is located only a short walk from the Grand Chancellor and immediately adjacent to Henry Jones. The coffee is good and the out door seating adds to dining experience. Most tables are close to overhead heaters. There is a good breakfast menu.

  • Neal

Lovely cafe in the heart of historic Hobart's wharf area. Lovely food and views and you get the feel for the old Hobart town. In fact your not far from where Hunter first put foot on the shore. Hobart has many great cafes but if your down on the wharf district then this is a must.

Located in the Henry Jones Art Hotel, Jam Packed has a gorgeous little gourmet market and takeaway counter, while the tables for cafe service are located in the atmospheric courtyard of the hotel. This may well be the most beautiful cafe in Hobart. Plus, the food is excellent.

  • Daniela Magri

Great place for food choice, decor and atmosphere. Staff could be highly improved in manners... more friendly and helpful. A greet and a smile when you enter goes a long way... beside the blonde short hair lady that has been there a while all new staff are quite rushing...

  • A & P Sengupta

Staff have no idea. Bought takeaway sandwiches, told them we can’t eat specific ingredients. They assured us these were not included, even double checked with kitchen. We took them away - one bite to find the sandwiches had these ingredients and had to throw them away.

  • Stephane Budo

A pretty good cafe for breakfast at a reasonable price. It has everything to comes to expect from a decent breakfast with a nice range of choices on the menu. Coffee was a little light for my liking, but then again I love strong coffee, so it's very subjective.

  • Go WestGourmet

Super friendly and attentive staff and a fantastic menu at very reasonable prices all in the gorgeous setting of the Henry Jones atrium area. Excellent coffee and a fresh hit croissant with some of their own jam for only $5 fantastic place to stop for a bite!
