My first experience with the representative of Fairhaven Memorial Chapel was via phone call. I spoke with Jason Sheppard, who was neither comforting, reassuring, nor kind. I cordially asked Jason how he was doing, but he was cold and crass, as he neglected to dignify me with a response; rather with harsh swiftness Mr. Sheppard inquired, “how can I help you.” I was completely caught off guard and bellowed, “you have my father,” to which he responded with my father’s name as his tone changed and he recited his condolences. To add insult to grief and injury, my family and I arrived at the church to look upon a monstrosity of a job, as my father was unrecognizable. His head was misshapen and elongated, his face was disfigured and pulled tightly low on his jawline, his finger nails had not even been clipped; and we, as his family, were all beside ourselves. His memory was dishonored in the worst way in his careless preparation. The person we knew and loved, and the one presented in the casket were not one in the same, by no means. Should you or your family choose to select his business, please, be sure to ask whom your loved one will be serviced by. Otherwise you must take your best guess as to how recognizable your loved one may or may not appear. Mr. Shepperd, Your flippiant and dismissive response to my post, proves my point. Aside from the fact that you have yet to address any of my families concerns or complaints, it is more than insulting and condescnding to insist that my eyesight is somehow affected by my emotions. What I witnessed had nothing to do with my grief processing or state. Perhaps, you should focus more on caring for the loved ones with whom you are intrusted and less on your length of service; I'm most sure that your business success was due to your predecessor, if my families experience with you and your company is any indication. Further, should you decide to continue to shirk your responsibility and accountabilty under these most sensitive circumstances, I will be sure to extend the reach of my voice, as a greiving consumer whose entire family has been neglected and dishonored by your company. All we ask Sir, is that you recognize your shortcomings and do better with, and for, others in the future, as you can never make up for the sorrow and misery you have caused our family. Do better, and be better to honor God, and honor the memory of those who have paved the way for you, as well as those you will have the priviliedge and honor of serving during the most distressing time of their lives.

AS A WOMAN IN MOURNING, MY EXPERIENCE AT FAIRHAVEN WAS B-A-D. THE EMPLOYEE'S WERE VERY RUDE, AND HOMOPHOBIC. IN THIS WORLD TODAY, SOME PEOPLE HAVE FRIENDS THAT ARE MEN, WOMEN, STRAIGHT, GAY, BIG AND SMALL. BUT WHEN YOUR GOING TO SAY YOUR FINAL GOODBYE'S YOU SHOULD NOT BE JUDGED BY YOUR PERSONAL LIFESTYLES. THE MEN AND WOMENS BATHROOM IS LOCATED DIRECTLY BY AN OFFICE DESK, AND YES THE EMPLOYEES (4) WERE SITTING THAT CLOSE TO THE BATHROOM. MAKING SMART REMARKS AND WATCHING PEOPLE GO IN AND OUT OF THE BATHROOMS, WHICH I FIND VERY DISTURBING AND UNCOMFORTABLE. AS A PEOPLE IN MOURNING YOU SHOUD BE RESEPCTED AND PUT INTO A COMFORTABLE POSITION. THIS PLACE IS NOT RECOMMENDED IF YOU HAVE PARTICULAR BELIEFS, OR IF YOUR ARE PUTTING A FAMILY MEMBER TO REST IF THEY LIVED A DIFFERENT LIFESTYLE. THEY WERE NOT LOW-KEY ABOUT ANYTHING, THEIR WERE VERY OBNOXIOUS AND BELLIGERENT

My family had been using Fairhaven for decades and while I’m so sorry for all whom lost loved ones I can’t stand on what’s being posted. Like another poster said it was the grandfather my family has dealt with. I met Jason for the first time two years ago when I lost my mother. While Fairhaven has been like an honorary family member for close to 4 decades, it was my first time being hands on with the protocols of funeral planning. Jason was very patient and informative. Not to mention my mom was a shell of her self when she passed and Fairhaven had her looking like she did in life. They even set her up with an online page that I check into every now and then to write to my mom. That’s how I found these reviews and was shocked by what I read. Again no disrespect to the grieving families, this just wasn’t my experience.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You to Fairhaven Memorial Chapel’s Jason Sheppard for a job well done during our bereavement for our mother. Mr. Sheppard is a caring, friendly and the ultimate professional. He listens to all of our concerns and with his expertise was able to implement our needs. Jason felt like one of the family. He never failed to return my many phone calls, emails and texts. Fairhaven’s mortuary skills are phenomenal and our 84 year old frail and sick mother was able to look like herself prior to illness. Her hair,nails makeup and clothes were flawless and natural. We highly recommend you entrust your loved ones to Fairhaven Memorial Chapel and director Jason Sheppard. Fairhaven was located in my neighborhood, where in the past Mr. Roberts handled all of my families home going services, however in Mr. Roberts absence I was introduced to Jason. Since I was introduced to Jason things have been smooth, although I was a little hesitant at 1st, Jason listened, he was professional, patient, gentle, kind, compassionate, attentive to my families needs and most importantly he was available to answer any questions or assist to ensure there were NO issues. Thank you very much Jason you did an AWESOME job! Although each interaction occurred during very difficult times, entrusting you and Fairhaven Memorial Chapel made things feel ok while laying my loved ones to rest. I recommend Fairhaven over all others!

My experience with this funeral home Fairhaven was horrible. It was unprofessional to pull up to my Dad service's at the church, to see the funeral director wiping down the hearse.(That should have been done before hand). I go inside the church and my Daddy didn't look like my Daddy. They messed my Daddy up, the only way i knew it was my dad was by his hands. I DON'T RECOMMEND this FUNERAL HOME to NO ONE. Unfortunately my family and I have had to use Jason's services twice within a years time. My mom passed and my husband died. And both times he was entrusted with taking care of my loved ones. And both times he did a wonderful job. He is a very understanding and compassionate individual. With my husband's arrangements I had no one to help me but he stood by me and held my hand all the way to it was done. He gave me the emotional support that I was lacking. They are wonderful people. Jason is the best. I was so thankful for him . Maxine Harris and Joe Robinson Jr. Are resting in peace. And Jason Shepard made sure to help the family find peace. Thank You again Myngnon Harris

Please do not use Fairhaven's services. Jason Shepherd is a one man disaster. The embalming & makeup for my Dad, had my Dad looking unidentifiable. The death certificate has the incorrect information, & Mr. Shepherd refuses to make the correction. I have the original paper work & text proving Mr Shepard did not do as requested. I'm happy that I record all of my conversations, & I keep all of my communications. I have proof of Jason Shepherd's colossal mistake of my Dad's send off. My Dad's service was 2/8/21, I'm just now able to speak about this nightmare performed by Jason, representative of Fairhaven.

I have dealt with the grandfather for over 25 years and recently dealt with grandson for my Mother and the apple doesn’t fall from the tree. The services were fabulous Jason (grandson) paid close attention to details stayed within our budget. He gave sound advise when needed during our difficult time and our family is very grateful.
