Through the portal that is the double sliding doors, that I can only assume is used to keep out vampires. You're transported to a land of bright lighting and a flowery entrance. But another level of security you are promptly met with. Like all places of this nature, I have no idea what purpose this serves other than the assumption of another level to keep vampires out. Inside you will find many things, from fruits and vegetables, to coffees with caffeine and without. I almost mistook this place for an Aldi once because I almost bought a gas powered pizza oven when I only came in to buy some cloudy ammonia. (Vampires are messy) The staff are mostly friendly and willing to help you however they can, some even have a sense of humour. I have however taken one star off only because l hate that cash self serve checkout that doesn't detect things when I put something lightweight without a bag. It is my nemesis and I shall send it to the depths of Hell!
Suspect some of these reviews must be commissioned or something. I go here daily as it's next to work. It's taken 2 - 3 weeks, if not longer, for the stock in the drink fridge to be replaced. Up until now, they've left a full broken fridge, including milk drinks, and not bothered restocking the others for literal weeks. Bakery and other fresh produce is typically half stocked at best too, unless y'all all empty the shelves the second they stock them at night, I don't think they bother with it here unless the shelf is about empty. Certainly got some audacity charging almost double for some products as other Coles stores, especially when they can't clean the dump or fill a fridge.
Yesterday lunch time I was shopping with my wife at lunch time and all of a sudden I was overcome with tight chest pain and hit the floor struggling for breath convinced I was having a heart attack. I just want to say a massive thank you to the lady and gentleman that helped my wife to contact the ambulance and keep me comfortable until the paramedics arrived. It was certainly a scary experience but without your fast acting fantastic staff it would have been a lot worse. Thank you for also keeping my wife calm too during this scary episode
Visited around 930 thismorning. The staff were grumpy and rude. There was only one checkout open and he was doing an amazing job, there were approx 13 people waiting. A slovenly girl slowly walked over to open a check out. The drinks fridges were broken still fully stocked and no signs. I only wanted a water and I noticed it was luke warm. I mentioned it to the tall lady with a black shirt on and she was so rude. I know not everyone is a morning person, but these staff were awful...
Located inside the Barracks this Coles is well placed on the Western edge of the CBD. It is also conveniently located for a number of backpacker places. The store carries the usual Coles lines of groceries and other goods. It lacks an in store bakery. The service around the deli counter can be slow at peak times. The dairy section is well stocked. Some store prepared meals are also available. The service at the cash register is cheerful and personal.
Does not regularly stock Paul's Farmers Gold (extra cream) milk. Last 6 visits have resulted in having to travel to another supermarket although I'm already on my way home (cyclist). It is my local supermarket and I go early in the day and it makes no difference, all they offer is excuses why it's out of stock. They also run out of specials catalogues within 24 hours on the regular. In short, if there is a problem, do not expect them to fix it.
This is a big, well laid out store. It's the biggest supermarket close to the cbd where the product range is much bigger than in the very small city supermarkets. Also, there are plenty of specials here, which are rarely seen in the small city supermarkets, which tend to have slightly higher prices. There is undercover free parking, or walk up the big staircase from Roma Street direct to the Barracks Shopping Centre.
Self serv checkout wouldn't accept my gift card. An Asian lady, extremely rude, made me try again and again, the whole time I was telling her "just let me try another checkout". No that wont help, enter all the numbers and try again. Useless. Eventually I just went to another checkout and it worked immediaetly. Asian lady got angry at me for leaving the broken checkout. Worst coles in Australia hands down.
16 July 2022 Edit: Self serve machines have been updated, very fast now and make for a much more pleasant transaction. My local Coles, handy for me to walk to. Relatively large considering its location, however does not stock some things I'm looking for occasionally, and really wish they had a larger bakery section, and that they stocked more meat alternatives like the next-closest to me in West End.
Partner and I bought simson’s pizza base from here. The bases were stuck together, unable to separate them. It left apart. We could not use them. We attempted to get a refund, as the quality of the product was not up to standard. The store work said they couldn’t do anything about it, aside from filling out a complaint form, which he said wouldn’t do anything for us.
Great range of produce, helpful staff. Excellent parking underneath that's free for the first 2 hours. Could have a better range of fresh fish. Probably not your cheapest store, based on the area, but then that's also nice too if you prefer a more upmarket experience. Toilet facilities in the Barracks are also decent, always clean if you're busting mid-shop.
Big store. Went at around 5pm and wasnt busy which is fantastic. Coles Indro or Toowong (which were my go to stores before i found this one) are always packed as soon as it hits 5pm and normally alot of meat products are all gone :( If you live around the Toowong,Milton, Auchenflower suburbs check this store out.
The Asian lady in self check out was extremely rude. Accussed me for not paying things on my shopping bag, tried to explain that I just bought them from another store but she refused to listen and shouting to my face in front of other customers. Deeply hurt and disappointed, worst shopping experience ever.
Coles Never has fresh fruit and veggies. You get a 2 day best before if your lucky. The Doctor Matthew started out bulk billing and he seemed to want to help the community. Sadly he changed his mind and lining his pocket a couple of dollars is more important then our sick or elderly.
I've shopped here now for ten years. Great range, reasonable prices and the manager Matt is always willing to jump in and help out if any of the shoppers need assistance. A pleasant place with free underground secure parking, very convenient and well run shopping centre.
Great customer service, I always get friendly and helpful staff in the self serve checkouts. 2hr free parking Within the beautiful Barracks area with other lovely shops and the Palace Cinema and lovely views of the Brisbane River and City. Grocery shopping made fun
Good store for a quick shop with free short-term parking in The Barracks. Downside being that the weird layout is confusing (comparing to other coles stores) and the place regularly being full of backpackers milling around like sheep makes doing a big shop a pain.
I had left my phone there and half way hm before I realised and went back and it was there beung protected by a lovely I think Indian descent. I though I had lost my life line. Honedty does exist. Thankyou Coles in Quay end mall tbhingie trueky astonishing.
Needs more vegan options including the deli, health foods, frozen section and ready meals. Also, the meat free section of plant based meats gets smaller every time I visit. The layout is quite clunky and needs more check outs with less self check outs.
Not a 5 stars for Coles in this area, the extra stars go to the precinct itself and the new 2/14 cafe located next to Coles. Great coffee, great staff and they support our veterans .... Do yourself a favour and grab a coffee prior to any Coles trip.
Fruit and vege section is a mixed bag from day to day. Frequently understaffed, meaning long waits at the deli counter, or no checkouts because only the service desk is operating. Staff are generally really friendly, and know their locals eell.
Unfortunately we were charged $42 upon exiting the Coles car park due to losing our parking ticket by accident. We had been parked there for only a short time and with the ticket we would have received free parking. I know Coles shares
I got chicken wings and 1.5 days later all chicken was off customer service is poor. I use to to live at NSW and Coles there is out standing and friendly. I would like this type service and products to QLD Coles asap please. …
I quite like this Coles store at The Barracks on Petrie Terrace Spring Hill. Large store with big range of products. I've never found it crowded, and you can actually find a staff member to talk to if necessary.
There is a glorious man at the self service check out, his flowing blondish hair brings quakes to the fettuccine in my hand basket. For it desires not my pantry but instead the argent gaze of the coles esquire.
Had an amazing experience. Kialani was super helpful and conservational. Made my day seeing her smile! She’s very knowledgable of the delicatessen and made the experience of buying ham a memorable one!
Terribly uncompetitive & inconvenient, the store closes at 6pm on Sunday evening! I could expect this from an independent grocery store in the country, not a leading supermarket in inner city Brisbane.
I'm actually impressed with the proudness of that store. It's very well maintained and extremely fun to need to ask questions to staff as it's a warm friendly environment. Well done tukker diggers.
I only use Coles at the Barracks for convenience. The staff are great, but it there has been so many managers and only one has been effective and he didn't stay very long. It needs a good shakeup!!
Good size store. Never had an issue with staff. Great location. Doesn't have everything as not the biggest store. Parking is shared with other shops nearby so that can be difficult when it's busy.
#1 place for employment of the socialist radicals who want to overthrow the capitalist dystopia we live in. Plenty of like minded individuals who will help you in your communist revolution.
This Coles is a relatively small still has a full selection and, expect. The one time I bought something and found not to be fresh, the management was wonderful in giving me an exchange.
The quality of the produce here and meat is pretty terrible for a store, most fruit and veg looks like it's been sitting in the fridge for a week. Staff are always lovely and helpful.
Decent supermarket however due to size and location can be lacking in some areas. Bakery area is almost non existent which is a shame as there isn't really a bakery in the complex.
Excellent seafood choice. Sometimes specials are not restocked. They will mark down an equal or superior product down to special price. You need to approach and ask a staff member.
Never any car parking available under the barracks (everyone working in the city has worked out that it's cheap to park here now) so unfortunately I can't shop here any more.
I had a very pleasant experience at this Coles. I was helped by a lovely young man named Felix. Other workers were very polite. I recommend going to this specific Coles.
The only Full line Coles within walking distance from the CBD. Wide range of fresh produce. This store can be better with an on-site bakery and Liquor Department.
Great store, clean that you'll fine the inner city supermarket. The stands and grocery lines are very big and have so many variety of goodies to select so fresh.
If by mistake you loose your parking ticket they won’t bother to check online or they want ti charge $45. Public places are meant for service people I assume.
Don't love this Coles.. Not much selection for such a massive Coles. Feel like it could take business from Woolworths Paddington if it was properly stocked
Supermarket that has it all, just stopped here and get some fruits. The fruit stand and vegetables stand are big and very fresh. Convenient to shop here!
Same old, same old Coles. Nothing different from all the other stores. The car park is a bit of a disaster - they still dispense tickets, rather quaint.
Staff are friendly and the range is decent considering the location and size of store. Occasional issues with quality and lifespan of fresh produce.
Probably the best supermarket close to the Brisbane City area. They've got all I need! How you like that, Woollies? (Yeah, I'm a Coles kind of guy)
Handy place to know. In Barracks complex with cinema and cafes. Parking underneath so easy to drop in and pick up some things. Typical Coles store.
Well stocked, tidy & spacious Coles supermarket in the Barracks Shopping precinct. There's parking underneath with a Cinema complex & restaurants
Large inner city supermarket. Needs less self-serve checkouts and more staff. Good selection of standard grocery lines, big Asian food section.
A great place to shop with very willing staff ready to assist. Very spacious with the ability to use shopping trolleys in this shopping centre.
Coles, great supermarket as they all are, reasonable prices, great range of products, clean aisles and trolleys, loads of convenient parking.
Good variety, generally good service, specials on out of/nearly date stock. Highly recommend especially the larger stores. More specials etc.
It's not the largest COLES ever , but it's well laid out and clean , very helpful staff , good ranging . I commend the manager and staff .
All the staff make this place the most exceptional shopping experience every time. Run by the most beautiful people, it’s my fave by far!
Always out of birds eye chillies and the small prawn plate. Not sure if that's how coles are stocked nationally but nothing to rave about
Great place to shop i love all the specials can be hard to get a park at times i use to shop at Woolworth but Coles is my shop now
Usually full of backpackers from across the road buying staples. Great place if you want to practice your foreign language skills.
Great range of items. The staff are all familiar - looks like a great team to work for and it reflects in their service.
Got in, got our supplies, got out through self serve. Place was clean, an average and non intrusive Coles experience.
Convenient, many spot specials in the meat section and shopping feels like it's done quicker here which is great.
Open to 9pm most days is great if you come home from work and need to grab food for dinner or lunch the next day.
Just a normal coles but always empty with a lot of cashiers and nice music. Haha. Close to bavkpackers hostels.
Easy to find, big Cole's and pharmacy with doctors attached...... Easy and lots of parking -- not many people
Friendly staff, decent selection of essentials and the markdown section keeps me coming back to this store.
Suprisingly large Coles tucked away in The Barracks. Internals are a bit dated but clean and well run store
Convenient, good, safe parking, adequate for a quick shop although does not carry a great deal of stock.
I wanted to buy a pastry brush but can you believe they don't stock them in their cookware section!#!!!
Parking $89!! Just needed to grab a few things and parking was $89. Was there less than 5 minutes!
Coles Petrie Terrace is a great coles has all you need, and the staff are helpful and pleasant.
Clean, fresh and large format store. Friendly staff and fast and efficient click and collect.
Interesting collection of eateries and a good car park. As well as a large Coles supermarket
Its ok cos its close but the variety of meats is not that great. Better to go to woolworths.
Staff were super friendly and got all of the products I was looking for what a great coles
Good place, they sell all the groceries I look for. Plus the staff are really good looking
Very convenient for us close to the CBD> During Covid they had the best cleaning service.
Excellent grocery store; I only wish it was a tinier bit bigger with more selection!
Without doubt it would have to be one of the cleanest stores of Coles in Australia.
Picked up a few things after the movies, handy, tidy and a good selection. …
Very good supermarket with fair prices. Clean, modern, as it should always be.
You've got everything there... Diverse food sections & daily deals & discounts
Close to our hotel so I rate it 4 stars. Good range for a small supermarket
Nice clean, bright store, bit of a cold and unfriendly atmosphere though.
A nice vibe in this Coles, good quality fruit and veg and friendly staff.
Wide aisles. Friendly helpful staff. I've never waited long to check out.
Great place to shop for your groceries, especially after a movie …
Awful drain smell near the meat section that has been there for months
Great location, but a bit limited on fresh fruit and vegetables …
Excellent small. Well stocked. Happy staff. Easy parking under cover.
Best Coles. Free parking. Huge range but they don’t have chopsticks.
Typical Coles store, very convenient location with on-site parking.
Normal Coles selection but good size store given it's CBD location
Nice location if your are in the area and has a good sized store.
Awesome location, great free 2 hour parking!!! Friendly service.
Typical supermarket, some good 50% off specials, good selection.
Clean. Friendly staff. Good selection. Easy to access location.
Got what we needed but hard to get in and out of the Carpark
Good place to shopping, well organized and perfec location.
I get all my items from here and there all decently priced
Very nice ..evrything was available. Free 2 hrs Parking
A good Coles to visit. Handy parking and we'll stocked
Always open and pretty good quality fruit and vegies.
