I would like to make a complaint about your unsatisfactory customer service with my upcoming booking and also request someone to sort the issue out within the next working day. We had booked a campervan between Adelaide - Hobart on the 16th of Feb however, as I explained to your customer service team, I have recently received news that a close family member is undergoing life threatening treatment back in the UK and requested to cancel my booking, and due to the circumstances, also received a full refund. Your customer service declined this with little empathy of my situation and offered me a credit, which was of no use to me if I am travelling back to the UK. I then offered an alternative of swapping my booking to travel between Hobart - Melbourne instead between the dates of the 17th-22nd of Feb. I received no correspondence from your team and I ended up calling a lady based in Perth called Amanda who was due to chase up my enquiry as someone had put in our file notes that I had agreed to accept the credit and our booking had been cancelled. This was not the case and i have email threads to prove this. I have sent numerous emails to your customer service team (at least 5-10) but no one is replying to me, causing me extra distress in a time which has been very anxiety provoking and tiresome not knowing what our travel plans are in the upcoming weeks now. I spoke to a man called Brandon on your online chat and requested for him to look into the matter. This morning I have received a quote for $1839 to change my booking to now be from Hobart - Melbourne. This has completely confused me and is evidence that again, your customer service department are not properly trained reading , understanding and handling requests and are unable to provide solutions that correspond to what I am requesting. As I’m sure you can understand by this point I am very frustrated by the matter and would like for you to either: 1. Offer us a full refund - NOT CREDIT 2. Offer to swap the original booking to now go From Hobart - Melbourne between the dates of 17th feb - 22nd feb. * please note option 2 will need to be organised very quickly due to us having to book the ferry crossing from Tasmania - Melbourne which is currently almost sold out otherwise your van will not be getting back as it can not swim. We were thoroughly looking forward to our trip and hope that you can respond to this letter with suitable resolutions to my complaint for our faith to be restored in your company for future bookings. I look forward to your quick response, Kind regards, Gabrielle Kemp

My partner and I had been very excited and looking forward to our trip to Tassie. We booked our ''Premium 2 Seat Van'' 7 months in advance online direct with Wicked Campers. On arrival/collection of the vehicle we had been ''downgraded'' to their smallest 2 seat, 2 door car with no call or email prior to our departure to notify us - we were gobsmacked! After spending some time there the staff managed to organise the vehicle we paid for. This wasn't a good start to our holiday and I found it extremely cheeky that Wicked Vans were prepared to downgrade us and not offer us a partial refund! TERRIBLE! In regards to the Van we were given, the mattress (if you could even call it that) was super thin and very uncomfortable. After one sleepless night my partner and I decided to invest in a double blow-up mattress, this made sleeping a lot more comfortable. Thank God for Kmart! We had also pre-booked a table and chairs for the trip to make life a little easier, we were given the cheapest looking chairs I've ever seen, they both had rips and holes in them and should have been on the verge of getting thrown away. Roughly 3 days into our trip we noticed one of the tyres was quite flat so we pumped it up at our next fuel stop only to notice that the back tyres were bald and one in particular was considerably bad. We also had no water in the windscreen wiper tank (so this had not been checked) and the inspection sticker inside the van was our of date. Last inspection on the vehicle being on the 01.11.2017 - We collected the van on the 27.12.2018. It was very clear that the staff here didn't care about the state or safety of their vehicles. When we dropped off our vehicle the depot was quote busy and my partner and I got in line with everyone else, we were waiting there for an hour all up to drop off the vehicle. Roughly 20min into our wait a couple pulled in with their van and a staff member walked over to them right away and checked them out on the spot - not bothering to check if anyone else waiting in line was in front of them to check out! The quality of service was disgraceful. In summery, the service was terrible, the van was terrible! Lucky Tassie as a destination was amazing and we didn't let our experience with the van ruin our trip. We will NOT be using or recommending Wicked Van's to anyone EVER!

Dodgy business practices: bond refund took >20 working days and multiple calls from me despite no error on my part. Hired a Wicked Camper in Tasmania with a friend (we are both from Western Australia). We hired the cheapest 3-seater van and everything was as expected for a van of that price. Service was good at the depot and had no problems picking up or returning the van. As we left Tasmania I had a very positive view of Wicked, the whole experience was very smooth and we had a great time in the van. However, upon returning to Perth and waiting the 14 working days from the return of the van for the bond (AU$500) to be refunded (as stated in their rental conditions: "PLEASE NOTE: Bond refunds can take up to 14 Working Days to process."), I had not received my bond back and had no contact from Wicked about any issues with the van we returned. On the 16th working day after returning the van (a Monday) I called their customer service center to ask what was going on with my bond and asked for an explanation to be sent to my email address telling me when the bond would be refunded and why it had not been refunded in the 14 working days stated in their rental conditions. A week later, I have still not received any contact from Wicked via email and the bond had not been refunded to my account. I called the customer service center again and was told that my bond was refunded the Friday of the previous week (4 working days after my follow up call and 20 *working* days after returning the van). No explanation was given about why it had taken so long and why no one had contacted me by email as requested the previous week. I'm really disappointed with this sort of business practice. I honestly wonder what would have happened if I had not followed up on the bond refund. Would Wicked have kept my $500 and not notified me? Why should I have to waste my time following up the return of my bond when we followed all the conditions of rental? Really makes me question whether this is an intentional tactic of the company, i.e. making money from people forgetting that they have a bond that has not been refunded. This situation has ruined what was otherwise a very positive experience with the company.

My partner and I were renting one of your Wicked Campervan for a period of 2-6th of December to travel around Tasmania as it was our short holiday together. We were very excited to hire your van, as it was a great option for us. Unfortunately, our consumer rights and guarantees were not met at all and at some point out us in a danger: 1. Reverse was impossible to be done unless the car would be switched off and on again with changed gear for reverse straight away. 2. The 5th gear didn't work at all. 3. The AC and the heater didn't work at all, except few time AC could blow a freezing air time to time. 4. Customer service wasnt on a high level at all when we called to the emergency service to change the car, so we lost 1 day out of our holiday by driving this van back to Hobart for swapping it. 5. The van already ran for 500K km. Is it even legal to rent this car? Also when we were on a little cliff and realised that the reverse doesn't work, it brought us to a huge stress and trying to pull the car back by not falling ourselves from it. According to ACCC, a rented vehicle failed to meet our consumer guarantee, our rights and obligations by renting the vehicle to us while it was substantially unfit for it’s normal purpose. Thankfully we were given an upgraded van instead of the unfit one. Yet it had a minor issue, such as, one of the bed's mattress was way too big, so my partner had troubles to sleep in the car and the pipe for connecting the sink and water wasn’t the right size. The most frustrating experience out of that is that it was our little holiday in a while and it was ruined by waisting our time to come back to Hobart for replacement from the trip on the East Coast of Tasmania. We are very frustrated and disappointed with the experience we were given as well as the customer service for replacement of the vehicle was too slow.

I would give it minus 5 stars if that was possible, unfortunately 1 star is the minimum. Horrendous experience from start to finish. I chased customer service for a week or two prior to arriving as they sent me the wrong vehicle to check in. Eventually got told our vehicle had 'crashed'. they said they would upgrade us to a slightly larger version of the one we paid for. When we arrived at the depot - it was again a completely different vehicle than we asked for. I paid for plain white van and we had a different vehicle, a stage on the roof?? Bright silver and green camouflage on the outside and items we had paid extra for like the camping chairs and table were missing from the van. I was told to complete the trip and hand the keys back at the depot, and if everything was fine with the vehicle someone would come back to my original complaint email and I would be compensated. I have sent 4 emails in total, countless calls to customer services who "can't help me because they don't deal with complaints, told me to email, and when i explained I already had 4 times, they suggested maybe doing it again." Horrendous customer service, Terrible communication, Expect to get something completely different to what you paid for and never hear back from any calls or emails regarding urgent inquiries. It is around 3 weeks from when we had the van and I am yet to hear anything via email or phone. Classic take your money and run. Thanks, Sam.

Note: writing this review the day before returning, will update after returning if anything changes! Overall wicked campers has been a good service, you get what you pay for. When we arrived to inspect and pickup our van there was an issue with the condition, but the helpful staff at the Hobart office/depot quickly sorted us out with a different van and we were on our way in a premium 2-sleeper van! The included camping chairs, table, sink, gas burner and kitchen kit are fantastic, and there's plenty of storage in the van for bags, clothing, food, whatever you might want to bring with you. The convertible table inside the van wasn't really useful due to it being so high. The air-conditioning and power steering of the premium van were fantastic in the volatile climate and twisty roads of Tasmania, the only bad things about the driving experience was the van being a bit underpowered (really struggled to maintain 100-110kmph with any headwind or hill), and the Bluetooth unit didn't work for music. The bed in the back was okay but if you're a larger/heavier person maybe invest in camping mattress so you don't feel the wood through the foam mattress provided. Mechanically the van was great, never skipped a beat and felt safe and in control the entire time whilst driving. Overall our trip with wicked campers was a blast, even with a few little areas for improvement it was a good service with money well spent.

Unfortunately more of the same. Greg at the depot was fantastic, really easy to deal with and a warm welcome to the state. Wicked Campers on the other hand is an atrocious company to deal with. I'd requested a change to pick up/drop off times and received no reply. I tried emailing a few more times and received no reply. Finally I just changed my schedule to accommodate the original times only to discover they had made the changes I requested and not bothered to let me know. Not a major issue, but annoying. While driving into Hobart, someone merged into the van. Literally just changed lanes straight into me and didn't stop. I got the licence plate, made a police report and informed Wicked management immediately. They withheld my deposit as I couldn't identify the driver by name, licence number and address (this is standard practice with insurance claims), but their insurance company then should follow up through the Police and get the bill sent to the responsible party. I've sent several emails and received no response as per usual. I'm looking at small claims court now. I would strongly suggest you avoid dealing with Wicked Campers if at all possible

Wicked campers are designed for a very specific clientele. We hired a van for 7 nights and paid $700. When we arrived there was a delay in receiving our rental as the office was disorganised and didn't have any autos left. We were given a larger van. The van was covered in offensive graffiti and reeked of cigarettes - we had to drive with the windows down most of the time. On top of this, there was a chip in our windscreen, brakes did not work properly, broken door was fixed with duck-tape and the locks did not work; we had to leave our car unlocked. The sleeping area in back was too small, I am 5'3 and I JUST fit. It was extremely uncomfortable that we only stayed in the van 2/7 night and opted to stay at hotels the other 5 nights ($$$$) I would not recommend wicked campers to ANYONE. We had envisioned a fun road trip around tassie and the Wicked camper very nearly ruined our trip. If you are looking for comfort, value for money or, simply, your safety, I would look else where.

Can’t speak highly enough of theses guys! Everyone was so helpful, we were given several cars to choose from when we arrived in Hobart, the quirky paint jobs just make things all the more fun. The vehicles are not flash by any means but for $50 something bucks a day, somewhere to store your stuff, a comfy bed and the ability to cook a meal, it’s perfect for those who enjoy nature instead of hiding in their fancy motor homes all day with Netflix on. Highly recommend buying a cheap mattress topper, we scored one for $8 from the op shop! Was an easy process from start to finish and when we blew two tyres (unlucky) John the owner organised for his awesome trusty sidekick Barton to drive us out 2 new wheels & tyres from Hobart to Zeehan. Huge thanks to the legend John, the office lady, Troy, Bart and Hunter(the dog). You’re all deadset legends, We’ll be back next year! See ya’s then. ⛺️

At the beginning when me and my 2 friends arrived at this place to pick up our Van, we had a problem because the Van was just for 2 people and not for 3. Greg and Karen were very lovely, helpful and tried to find a solution straight away which was not easy because almost all the other cars/vans had been already rented out. After speaking with their boss and with the company, we paid some more money but they upgraded us with a supercar which was normally much more expensive. We were really happy, even after bringing it back because we never had problems with the car. A place with professional and lovely people working there (Greg and Karen) which I would definitely recommend to anyone who plans to rent a car/van to travel around Tasmania! Thank you again, you were amazing with us!

  • Rachel Phillips

DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE GUYS! We booked a van in May 2023 for December 2023. Got to yard Dec 1st, they’d had given our van away the week before (to someone who booked it after us) so they didn’t have one that had the number of seatbelts and beds we had booked for. We spent 4 hours at the depot trying to find a solution after getting straight off the plane. Tried to give us a rooftop tent they had to weld onto a van - that was full of mice. Left with a tent to set up & down everyday and the promise of a refund. A month later and they’ve still not refunded us at all, are very hard to get a hold of and the owner of the company is absolutely no help. Wouldn’t reccomend using these guys! Side note - people running the depot are lovely but completely unsupported by the owner and HQ.

We got a very old and patcherupper car (loose side mirror, rough body, etc.). We made a last minute reservation so rental was expensive but we were happy to find something available. The “office” is sketchy and near the airport so not easily accessible. Efficient check in and check out. Careful with the conditions though: wash the car before returning it because they are quite picky about it and can charge you a lot of money if not. We made the reservation through Happy Travels and were quite disappointed with their recommendation, especially as they strongly recommended the rental insurance when we already had one with our credit card. If you plan ahead you can probably find a better deal. They seem to specialize in campervans though so we don’t know about that part.

  • kelly reinders

We rented a wicked car multiple times and never had any problems. Wicked campers Hobart is 5-10 minutes drive from the airport. We coudn't find a bus so you had to get a taxi to get there. When we arrived our vihecle was ready so we only had to do the paperwork and watch the safety video of the gas stove. Everything was quickly organised and done and we where ready to go. We rented the car for 9 days and had no problems. The only thing we didn't had on our car (wich we did have in the other ones we rented in Australia) where curtains. But not a big deal, you can make them yourself with a towel. Very Nice was that they gave us a second gas stove, this makes cooking much easier. Tasmania is a beautiful place, you have to visit it.

  • Desireé Hernández Ibinarriaga

I don’t recommend this company at all. I had a very bad experience with this company, the car and the items inside were dirty, and in unacceptable conditions, the structure of the bed in the car wasn’t matching so we couldn’t use it properly. The staff were non attentive to the concerns and gave us sheets and 2 sleeping bags to “solve” the problem and they were dirty as well. (Pictures attached) I wrote my complaint to the company and they didn’t gave me any compensation for my bad experience, they just said that they were disappointed about my unsatisfactory experience... the worst service company for car rental and camper van service.

  • Daniel Ezquerro

Avoid this company!! They don't worth the money at all. We rented a Suzuki Campervan for one week and: no curtains, filthy cutlery and plates, one speaker didn't work, they don't give you sheets or pillows (like every other company)and the mattress was to thin (which made it quite uncomfortable to sleep). One thing in particular that annoyed me a lot was that the van's engine was too small so we couldn't drive faster than 85km/h and we were using almost one full fuel tank per day. The only positive thing is that the two people there were very nice, but it has nothing to do with the company.

  • Fernanda Alvarez Gastelum

It was an awesome vehicle that we wished we had rented for a longer time. However I wish they could be able to rent out bedding and linens as well as other items that some campers need, as it would help the environment and I believe their business as well. Instead of every camper renter having to buy all these new bed sheets and pillows, etc, they could already have a big selection of washed things from previous renters and have that available, as it seems like a complete waste of resources every time someone buys something and needs to leave it behind, which they throw then to the garbage.

  • Primrose Khumalo

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!! It’s a shame can’t rate them anything lower than 1 star. But this company/service is the WORST! I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody. They gave us a completely different car to what they confirmed in the booking. The car was filthy and beat up! Not even worth the insurance they make you pay. I put a $500 bond and first they tell you it takes 30 days after returning the car to get your money back (which a complete lie!). They start telling you story after story and don’t return the money. The whole thing is a complete SCAM and they should be reported!

  • Patrícia Lopes

Dirty (the dirtiest van… or place! I have ever got in). Great if you like to sleep with spiderwebs and other bugs inside. I camp in the wild since i was little and this was discusting. Old - it could be old, but it wasn’t in good shape for renting. Not secure, the brakes didn’t felt secure while driving. Self pick up and drop out with zero communication from the company, i discover it for myself when I got there ‍♀️. Oh, and it rained inside. Oh, oh, and the bed wasn’t even complete so we slept without a piece. Bad, so bad. Dont rent with them!

  • Quentin Chalmers

I rented a camper vehicle for 5 days and the camper itself was great, no problems. When I rented the vehicle I was told I would receive the $5,000.00 bond I was charged within 14 days of returning the vehicle. It has now been 22 days and I have talked to customer service 3 separate times. I have been told my bond should have already been released and it is Wicked Campers fault I have not received it. I literally cannot pay my rent right not because I had to pay the $5000.00 bond that was charged to my card.

  • JonasFK

Nice and chilled service, called them at 9am and were able to pick our car up 4 hours later. Easy understandable roof top tent and gas cooker explanations while we waited. Car comes with all necessary Camping gear, plats and cups were out of plastic but very durable. All in all the equipment was good for the cheap price, espacially the free loan sleeping bags. Only negative point is the fuel consumption, wich is noticeble higher as indicated. We would rent a Wicked camper again.

  • Marc Girardbille

We rented a 4WD Cabin King 5 Sleeper for four weeks. When we arrived at the site, we were given a car with a couple minor problems and I asked if they could fix them. The staff was very efficient and patient to help with each small detail I noticed. Then a car was returned by other customers and the staff let me change for that one, and cleaned and checked it for me. All stars are really for the fantastic staff! The cars are old, that's why they are so cheap!

  • Florian Neumann

We hired a little car with a rooftop tent to discover all the beautiful places of Tasmania. After a long day of swimming, hiking, climbing and experiencing awesome adventures, the tent is built up very fast and easily. Ready for exhausted backpackers to have a good night of sleep in a dry and cozy bed. To travel Tasmania properly you need a car and Wicked Campers is a cheap and practical way to do so. Thanks for an unforgettable adventure!

  • Alejandro Candón

Lost 2 nights of our rent as the van we hired had 4 HOLES on the roof so when it rains all the inside of the van goes wet literally. Lost 2 days of our trip. Solution offered: go and buy duck tape. No compensation at all. Literally yelled on the phone by customer service of WickedCampervans. Simply lost money on the rent and time. I have been travelling around Oz for years, never had a service like that.

  • Plutonite

Pickup quality was poor (radio did not work and suspension that were completely used up. The cooking gear was disgusting and burned up and there was no gas to go with the gas stove). Service was also quite poor (they told us at the last minute that our car was not available until 12pm and proceeded to charge us full price for that day). Other than that the trip went smoothly.

  • Taylor Wilhelm

Wicked was really pleasant to work with. We had a few issues booking our car in the beginning and were on the phone with them several times and they were always very helpful and sorted everything for us. Best price we found by far! Despite being a really old car with lots of km, Ruby, our Iconic 2-seater hasn't given us any trouble! Gas cooker rocks! Ruby rocks! 5 stars!!

  • Jaime Pignatelli

Since I Arrived in Australia that I have been a satisfied customer of Wicked Campers. Their Vans are practically new and functioning perfectly! Allied to that, great design, friendly staff and low prices make of Wicked Campers the Best of OZ! Special Thanks to the WC in Tasmania that was really helpful with the whole preparation of the trip! And for FREE Slepping Bags!!!

  • Alice Lenihan

We wanted adventure, and adventure we got! For what we've seen so far, this is the cheapest and easiest way to visit Tasmania. The van is oldish but in good conditions, there's plenty of room for sleeping and a useful little kitchen at the back. You can rent pillows and blankets at the office or grab sleeping bags for free. Definitely worth it!

  • Angela Stanton

While wait to check in and pick up our car, it did go smoothly and quickly once they were ready for us. The car was clean and works just fine after a few days of driving. The roof top tent is also in excellent condition. One downside is the location of the depot, a difficult spot to get to by public transit. Overall good experience.

  • Victoria Petrogiani

Not a bad van for the money. We couldn’t find a conventional van in the area so we had no other options available. What can you really expect for the price. Overall experience was fun. Was great for 2 people only (yet they advertised for 3. ( not feasible ) For hippie experience get a Wicked Van and have no expectations !

  • the.m.influence creator of the Project Love App

Value for money! Greg is the man. If you like budget rental prices and still get to drive a decent set of wheels, well then give wicked a go. Drove.a Camry, perfect for cruising to all the marvel spots in and around Hobart, including Island hopping to Bruny Island. Did some of the posh vineyard cellar doors as well. XO

  • Jasmine Patel-bolger

We rented a Van for 5 days and drove up the East Coast of Tasmania. Vans are well equiped with all the basics that you would need on such a trip and they are very accessible from Hobart airport. Wicked staff were very friendly and helpful with anything that we needed. Great cheap way to travel around Tasmania.

  • James Castle

I picked up my Wicked camper on Saturday, on Sunday we were stuck in a little town flooded in, having the camper was a life saver! We had a kitchen and comfy bed, no leaks! Driving one of these vans is an absolute experience! Adds style to your holiday! :D love it!

  • Elisabeth Eik

Rented the mini camper 2 which was pretty alright! Bit small but it was a good car for the price we paid. The bed was easy to set up and take down. Also easy to pick up and give back. Had a good week in Tasmania with wicked campers!

  • Eldar

Rented a van for 2 weeks and didn't have any problems. They have cheapest van you get in Hobart! Great car! Staff was amazing. Everything went so smooth and easy. Definitely recommend them. Thanks guys! Cheers

  • Lisa Dinh

Was great for what we needed for our little trip around Tassie! The help line and mechanics were very helpful with any issues/enquiries we had. Warm, comfortable and the little kitchenette was perfect

  • Allard Komdeur

Thanks Gregg and team for doing a great job! The car was perfect and clean. they offered me a ride back to the airport free of charge. You can reach out to them 23/7 with road assitance

  • Kiah Tapley

The guys here are lovely, genuinely interested in the safety of the vehicles and such easy going helpful people. I will definitely recommend wicked campers in Hobart to everyone.

  • Perin Lee

Rented a premium van for 5 day road trip around Tasmania. Our van was great! Comfortable to drive and sleep in. Check in was easy and smooth process. Would happily rent again.

  • Andrea Medina

That was a very nice experience, we got a campervan to travel across Tasmania. The car was clean and worked fine. I really recommend this place.
