Compared several hire car company sites online for our trip around Tasmania starting in, and returning to, Hobart. Decided to choose East Coast Car Rentals Hobart as we were visiting the West Coast Rail experience in Strahan on the final day of needing a hire car and would not be returning to Hobart until around 7pm in the evening. East Coast was the only place we could find that would accommodate this time for a hire car at a reasonable price so we booked online with them. Booking online was easy and the extra price for comprehensive insurance was excellent value for piece of mind. On the day of arrival we received fantastic customer service and (personally not having used a hire car company before) was very pleasantly surprised with the Hyundai Keno provided to accommodate 3 people and 3 suitcases. The car looked new, very clean and comfortable to sit in and drive for several hours straight on the roads. The Android Auto feature was great to pair with Google Maps for the roadtrip. Upon return we were cutting it close to the 8pm closure time of the hire place so called 30 minutes ahead of time to advise of this and they were understanding of this. We were able to refuel at the Ampol 1 minute away and return the car just before closing time without any hassles. Overall would highly recommend this company bases on competitive pricing, quality of the hire car provided and generous opening hours compared to other hire car companies.

From the time we arrived in Hobart we were treated like executives. The shuttle bus service to their facilities 5mins from Hobart airport was there on time and driver was very helpful in providing us with some basic information about the shuttle service to their HQ. It was Easter holidays and it was very busy but the staff just seem to get through the pile of people waiting in their car lot. Our car was clean and they were very thorough in pre-rental pickup inspection. Going over the car meticulously and pointing out to us small bits and pieces that were caused prior to us renting the vehicle. The staff member was clear with his instructions about car care, return instructions etc. These guys were by far the cheapest price and their cars were on par with everyone else. Sure you have to catch a shuttle to their facility to pickup and complete paperwork but it’s a small price, especially when they are helpful and friendly. Thank you to all who assisted us. Their offer to upgrade to zero $$& excess claim was very reasonable also and well worth the addition. We noticed so much road kill on the way to the South Cape so a bit of protection was worth it for that aspect alone.

We rented from Hobart, we purchased rental online and paid in advance, when we arrived in Hobart we asked for an upgrade, thankfully this was possible and made easy by the staff on the day we just had to pay a little extra, all went well until after a few days of driving the MG SUV, the android auto started playing up and we were not happy with the performance of the car especially the cruise control, when I explained this to east coast rentals they were more than happy to exchange the vehicle for a Hiyundi Tucson. We had no problems changing over, we hired the car for 32 days and when it came time to hand it back it was very easy, a bus was ready to take us to the airport and there was nothing left to do but unload our luggage from our hire car and load it into the van and the staff were there to help with that, the whole process was smooth and quick, the staff were helpfull and friendly it was all well organised, the vehicles were clean and in good condition.

I booked a suitable SUV online through East Coast Car rentals at a better price than its competitors. The process was seamless and it proved easy to contact them by phone when I needed to make some booking changes. As the customer centre is located a short distance from the Hobart Airport building an airport transfer shuttle bus service is provided. I found all of the staff to be friendly and helpful. The car provided (a Hyundai Tucson) was tidy and undamaged upon receipt and met our needs. Returning the vehicle was straightforward but it pays to allow at least 30 minutes to process the drop off and to catch the shuttle bus back to the airport terminal. I would be more than happy to recommend East Coast Car Rentals in Hobart to anyone travelling around Tasmania.

Amazing staff. Right from the airport pickup, the friendly shuttle driver Ronnie gave us recommendations for things to do in the area. At the customer service desk we were blown away by Bianca's (Bee) attitude. Very friendly with a great customer service mindset, something lacking in most places around the world. She gave us a vehicle upgrade and a discount on roadside assistance. I have never had a car rental company staff give a complete walkthrough of the vehicle in such detail. This is a person that loves her job and takes it seriously. Management at ECR reading this review: this is the sort of person you need to do everything to retain, promote her, give her a raise and bonus, nurture this attitude, and set her up for growth and success in your company.

An excellent company to deal with. Was very easy to book and they sent confirmation emails/texts closer to the time. Upon arrival at Hobart airport we were sent a text link or could phone to arrange to be collected by a shuttle bus. It's a short ride to the depot and we were entertained by the driver with jokes. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped us link our phones to the apple car play system. We upgraded to a Hyundai Tucsan and were pleased we did. It fitted 3 adults and luggage easily. It was well maintained, lovely to drive and very comfortable. We took full insurance and pleased we did as there was a crack in one of the windows when we returned after doing 1700 kilometres in 12 days.

Booked a car for Hobart, they allowed themselves to be booked outside of office hours, rang me a month early and said someone would stay back or provide Uber vouchers to cover cost. The day of my flight, then rang me an hour before and said they do not do that! The lady Jess would not give her last name, was rude and said it was not my problem to sort it out which is very unprofessional as you have interstate people coming and rely on these companies doing what they have been paid for Would not even help get Ubers or taxi sorted expected me to be out of pocket for their mistake. I had to cancel the booking and now have no car Do not use this company! Absolutely appalling!

East Coast Car Rentals anywhere consistently provides great service. I rented an MG ZS small SUV online for our trip to Hobart. I was happy with its performance after renting one from Nic in Adelaide the week before. When I turned up in Hobart, I was convinced and given by the officer (I forgot her name) a Nissan QASHQAI instead. I have no qualms. I would like to try it. It was a pleasure to drive apart from the Android Auto mishaps when driving around Bruny Island. Companies like this are run by a team of employees like Christopher who picked us up and dropped us off from and to the airport. Such nice people who love to share their passion and tips.

We hired a vehicle from Hobart, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Great vehicle, was presented to us in fantastic condition. The vehicle was extremely well priced, we took out full coverage with them at a great price. We were picked up by a shuttle bus quickly from the airport and at the depot in about 10 minutes. we were treated excellently by all the staff throughout the whole process. Returned the car, no problems without nit picking like other companies, and once again treated well, asked how our trip was etc, shuttle bus back to the Airport, no hassles. We will definitely using East Coast again, highly recommend.

Absolutely sensational! The courtesy shuttle was waiting for us outside the terminal and took us straight to the depot. Ronnie, the driver, was a funny man and entertained us for the 5 minute journey. The staff at the depot were super friendly and so efficient that we were on our way in 15 minutes. I have used ECCR several times in different cities, and due to their exceptional helpful staff, I now book direct rather than using a search for the best price. In particular Hobart staff went out of their way to help me when I forgot my wallet and needed to verify/ID/Card details. They are also very fair with acknowledging existing damage rather than claiming every minute scratch was your fault. This balanced and fair approached is seen and appreciated, and I will continue to use them directly as a result of all of the above for any future trips.

Can't rate this team enough. Friendly and welcoming from the airport pickup to the drop off. All the staff I interacted with went above and beyond from making conversation to showing how car features work without even being asked. All while being friendly and smiley. I accidentally left my laptop in one of the rental cars and was on a very tight deadline to catch my flight. Whoops! One of the team was at the airport within 5 minutes to hand deliver my laptop! Car was in excellent condition, and the shuttle bus from the airport was much appreciated and only took a minute or two beyond the time it took me to walk over to the pickup area. The prices and cars available may not be the best (I genuinely don't know) but you can compare for yourself, there's no surprises to be had after you book. Personally I could have saved some money not hiring a GPS and just using the phone mount: If you have Telstra you'll basically never lose signal in Tasmania no matter how remote you go.

Very smooth and organised service. Easy to request a bus pickup from the airport (only 5mins away), with very clear directions of where to go from the terminal. We felt smug as we walked past the huge car rental lines in the terminal (which we had cancelled to book with East Coast). The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and made you feel very special. Really easy to get going. Drop off at the end of our trip was quick and simple, and they drop you back at the airport. We'll definitely use again.

A really good experience with East Coast Car Rental Hobart Airport. Their shuttle bus pickup from the airport is easy - it’s only a 5 min drive to pick up the car. The car was good - quite new and clean. We opted for a small SUV and I’d recommend an SUV if you intend doing some driving and exploring the countryside of TAS. Staff were friendly and helpful. There is a petrol station next door for re-fuelling for when you return the car. If we return to Hobart, we will use East Coast again!

Hands down, the Hobart Eaat Coast Car Rentals was the best car rental service I have ever used anywhere in the world. Easiest experience to find the airport shuttle with your photo aids - No chance of getting lost! Super friendly staff. We had a very good experience with East Coast Car Rentals. Their price was very reasonable compared to other car rental companies. Shuttle bus from the airport was straight forward and driver was lovely. Had a small problem with the original car we booked and they were able to send a mechanic out right away; problem couldn't be fixed and they were able to change our car on the spot. Cannot fault the service we received. Thank you to the wonderful team!

Good instructions for the taxi to the place, however bags were not secured by the driver which means they were banging around the whole drive. Once we got to the place they kept trying to upsell us on paying more to remove the excess, when we said no they offered another option still trying to get us to pay extra. Unprofessional attitude, no means no. One is the tyres was also low and it warned me so I had to go back and get them to refill it.

I am a return customer but the problem started when I had to wait for 1.5hrs for Road side assistance. I was 8 minutes away from east coast car rentals and they made me wait with no clear instructions. Is it even a pain just to swap car for your customer when I am just 8 min away in the freezing cold and starving death state. I am going to speak to head office for this absolutely disgraceful behaviour. You don’t even deserve 1 star.

That’s a great experience! From airport pick up to introduce the car. Every detail is great. Bee patiently explained the content of the contract and precautions.(Since we are not native speakers of English, she has slowed down her speech, is so sweet) Also tell us where the pretty good place. My Partner and I booked a small SUV online with a coupon code - once we arrived the manager indicated that this code was not valid! The manager at ECCR Hobart Airport was kind enough to honour our booking price with the coupon and was very helpful and friendly with suggestions for our trip. I had requested for a Toyota Camry but upon arrival, we were informed that Toyotas are unavailable (we had read similar reviews before but didn’t think it would be a common occurrence). Other than that, easy pick up and drop. The car was in good condition too. Special shout out to Dheeraj who was extremely helpful during the orientation and also happily lent us his personal USB for Apple play for a whole week.

Generally speaking, the experience was good. However, there were things that can be done better. Firstly, I booked a mid-size SUV but staff gave me a compact one without inform me before signing the contract. Their excuse was they gave the car to a group of seven people and we only have three people. Secondly, more information about after-hour return is helpful.

We booked car for 3 days, it was a smooth process throughout. Smiling & courteous staff, they know you are on holiday and looking for good experience. Car was clean and in really good condition. Definitely worth considering Eastcoast as an option as opposed to the others at the airport. They’re close to the airport, have a shuttle that comes to pick you up and the staff are amazing. If you want an easy and fast car rental experience, please think twice before booking via them, the cars are NOT located at airport, need to book shuttle to be able to pick up car, I spent 45 mins waited on the bus and then they transferred customers to their 10 mins away office, will be another wait in their office.

Cheapest service there is but the service is 5 star! All staff were friendly and we didn't have any problems with the car we rented, we only paid less than 100+ for an all insurance cover. :) My only issue was we paid for compact suv and the car that was given to us was much smaller than expected.
