I had previously used U-Haul at Jean-Talon Ouest twice and had excellent experiences. However, my recent encounter with the booking process was problematic. Each time I called to make a reservation or seek clarification, I received inconsistent answers. This led me to visit the location three times in an attempt to resolve my doubts. On my last visit, I was assured that everything was in order and my booking was scheduled from 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm on July 1, 2023. When I arrived to pick up the truck slightly before 2:15 pm, I was informed that it wasn't yet my designated time and had to wait. At 2:30 pm, I was informed that the truck needed to be checked before I could proceed. During the payment process, a friendly agent asked if I needed the truck for 8 hours. I explained that I anticipated requiring it for a maximum of 6 hours and asked if returning it within that timeframe would make any difference. The agent kindly informed me that no one was waiting for the truck after me, so I would only be charged for 6 hours. We agreed on this arrangement, and I appreciated the assistance of a very friendly gentleman who even retrieved my forgotten credit card during the payment process. I returned the truck before 6:30 pm, as indicated on the receipt. However, when it came time for the actual payment, the manager insisted that since the booking had been made for 9 hours through the call center, they couldn't make any adjustments. I explained that the agent who helped me at 2:30 pm had assured me I would only be charged for 6 hours. Unfortunately, the manager dismissed the agent's knowledge due to their inexperience. Despite the efforts of another gentleman to reason with her, it proved unsuccessful. The manager even made remarks about me wasting their time. Eventually, I was charged $292 before taxes. U-Haul used to provide a great service, and I hope that this unfortunate experience can be addressed to prevent similar situations in the future.

I recently had to assist my sister in moving her items giving the difficulty in finding appartments. This was a stressful last minute decision in which this location and it's staff really came through. I also work in the customer service industry, and the service that was offered was very professional and helpful. Originally we booked a storage unit that was too small and given that my sister and I presented ourselves during moving week, we stressed out about this situation, and knew we needed a bigger unit all of which were sold out online. The following day my sister and I presented ourselves and not only were we fortunate enough to receive a larger unit due to a cancellation, Shaena (Branch manager) went above and beyond to comfort us and help us with this conundrum. I have used Uhaul many times and it has always felt transactional to me, but the service I received at this branch was above and beyond, thank you kindly to Shaena and her entire team for the incredible professionalism and service!

Our U-Haul experience was adventurous which is the last thing you want when moving out.. We had requested a pick up from the Jean-Talon location 3 weeks before our move, the day before our scheduled pick up they changed the pick up to another location which now added 50 mins of Montreal traffic to our drive. Once at this location we waited at the counter for 15 mins before an employee showed up. This location however did not have the plateform dolley we had requested with the truck rental and ultimately we had to go back to the Jean-Talon location to pick up a dolley that we couldn't take out of town to our move in location. Adding an addition stop to return the dolley with similar 10-15 mins wait times before an employee was seen at the front desk. The truck was clean and easy to drive but the service or lack of, added a level a stress and dread to the day that we could have done without.

If I could, I would have given 0 star. If you see this review, please avoid this place unless you really have no other choice and would love to get a free morning anger issue. Got to meet the rudest employee in the history of customer service who asked the most impolite questions, made the most futile remarks and acted in the most condescending way you could imagine. I straight up told this grumpy middle-aged full-time desk sitter, part-time professional to be less rude and he replied “I am making sure you listen because you were looking at your phone”. Sorry Mr. Perfect (who didn’t even let me ask your name) for giving a quick glance at my phone as you just told me I would receive a text. I hope you’re proud of the work you do and the shame you bring to the business.

I don’t normally leave negative reviews, but this was way over the line for me. I reserved storage space a month ahead of time. When I showed up to claim it, the clerk said the previous occupant had decided not to leave, so I had been transferred to a more expensive location way farther away from my house. She said I’d be compensated with a free month of storage. After failing to return my call, the manager decided not to honour this promise. I explained to him that the purpose of reservation is to guarantee something will be available to the customer. The purpose of reservation is not to hold on to their business until the last minute when you know you won’t need it. He disagreed, hence this review. If this is how you do business, you don’t deserve customers.

Terrible! In addition to the attendant complaining because I arrived a little early to pick up the car, it wasn't that well maintained! I traveled about 10 KM longer than expected and was charged for the difference, so far so good, but as I filled up MANY more liters of gasoline, I asked if they could give me a discount on that amount and they said NO! And let me keep this loss! I would like to ask you to do the right thing, which is to deliver the vehicles with a full tank and demand them with a full tank! This is the fairest thing for its customers and we are not harmed like I was this time! I only gave one star because I am forced to select at least one! If the system allowed it, it would actually be zero stars!

Excellent service from Arko (I hope it’s the right name) who saw me and my friend confused looking at our reserved truck and my phone which wasn’t letting me sign in. He promptly came and offered to help us manually. He was cordial, respectful, extremely helpful and we even had some good laughs. The lady who was working beside him(I didn’t get her name) was also super nice. She chatted with us as Arko was processing our reservation. Also, Arko extended our rental duration to 7 hours! We ended up taking around 5 hours but knowing we had a lot of time to spare made things so much easier. Great service !

The lady told me when picking up the truck that they will count by days. I’ve booked for 2 days but I can return in a day to get charged for 1 day or 3 days to get charged for 3 days. So I decided to keep it for 3 days. But after 2 days and 1 hour. Another lady calls and threatens to charge me $500 if I don’t return the truck in 30minutes. I had to rush to drop things in my truck and drive back to the location to avoid this hefty fee. All the way I keep getting calls one after other all threatening to charge me different heavy charges. Definitely not getting another truck here ever.

It's rare that I leave review. Especially a bad one but the quality of service was so poor that I have to do it: The back of the truck was not clean with screws and nails at the back. It is not practical to rent a truck with 1/4 fuel tank filled. Why don't you just rent with full tank as everywhere? Poor customer service. When you rent, you have the choice to do it on your phone or at the counter. If I do it at the counter, it is not to receive message to do it on my phone while I am at the counter.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Stay away! The guy that we dealt with was rude, not professional, and not helpful. We used the online pickup, and while verifying the car we found MANY scratches on the van that we had to then document, take pictures of, and show him back. This took us 30 minutes to sort out with him and when we asked him if we would get the 30 minutes extended in the contract, he said "No, that's it." Go somewhere else, this place clearly does not care about customer service.

They changed my reservation (made weeks before) THE DAY OF my move, moving it back by a few hours and preventing me from moving as planned. I had movers but no truck. They were unwilling to do anything to help me. Worst experience, don't even bother. EDIT: returned at the new time to get the truck and they did not have the size I reserved available anymore so they DOWNSIZED ME. Unbelievable. Not even an apology or a discount. I'm in awe at how terrible their service is.

I rented a U-Haul for moving day and whilst moving we had an accident and we’re not able to return our van on time. The manager was incredibly understanding, she showed immense amounts of empathy and understanding of my situation and allowed us to not worry about the U-Haul whilst this happen. I would highly reccomend going here, they have the greatest manager. They were incredibly helpful and understanding.

Shaena was so kind and helpful and every part of our experience went smoothly. We rented a 9" cargo van to do a move within Montreal and vastly underestimated how much time we would need but it wasn't a problem to adjust our reservation. There was a long wait to talk to someone over the phone but once they picked up, they were very helpful and efficient.

Worst experience. They try to force insurance on you even when you have it on your credit card and even invent rules that don't exist (trying to put 2.5 k deposit on credit card and pay in cash USD....). Be careful when going there. Ended up not taking the car and got one cheaper in the discount just next to it which was just perfect.

AVOID these people & maybe this entire company. I would give zero stars if possible, but I am forced to give 1. These people are sneaky crooks and they will find ways to charge you extra. I returned the van with full gas, they told me I was good to go, and later I see a gas charge on the final receipt sent to my email.

My reservation was supposed to start at 11:30am. I arrived around 11:45 and the truck was not at the location. One of the employees was out of the office, using it. I had to wait until 11:54am for him to get back. He also brought it back with 1/4 of the tank full only. That's not very professional of the staff.

Good location but not well stocked. Overall I found the U-Haul stores to be ineffective retailers but they are the best option for moving supplies. I did not rent any vehicles from them as my past experience with vehicle rental from U Haul was an unmitigated disaster
