This hotel is brilliantly located in the centre of Leicester, couldn't have asked for it to be closer given its right next to the clock tower. In case you get confused, it is on top of the haymarket shopping centre with the parking being the top floor of the car park. I did have a bit of anxiety that there wouldn't be any spaces available based on some reviews, but we arrived on Sunday morning and the car park was empty so think it's fine. If you're arriving by foot, there are entrances at street level with intercom system - you can get in immediately after hours without intercom if you put your car reg number in, which is a really good safety measure. Parking is available at £5/24 hours, but after the first 24 hours you're charged each 24h block, not hourly so try and plan it well. Hotel feels like it's recently been refurbished so everything was really clean and the room was MASSIVE. Bed was large and comfy. Disappointed by the bathroom as it was quite small, there was no bath mat and the shower curtain was too small so it got very wet and slippy when showering. It was really disappointing though that there are no hairdryers in the rooms so make sure you take one with you. Unfortunately the kettle in our room was missing the base do we were unable to use it but they do provide tea and coffee. There is no restaurant on site here but there is a vending machine and they offer a breakfast bag for £5.50 if you don't want to rush out. Staff were pleasant and helpful on reception and overall the hotel was a pleasant experience. Would definitely stay again.

Firstly the good points, location is in the heart of the city, with good parking. This is a new hotel, so it is nice and clean with freshly painted walls and nice carpets. However if you are going to this hotel with a pram or disabled you will encounter problems. The lifts in the hotel only go down to the 1st floor, to get to the ground floor is via 3 flights of steps, not very good if you have are a pushchair/wheelchair of lots of Shopping. At the Ground floor entrance there is a intercom to ask for assistance, however it doesn't work, you can hear the Receptionist but apparently they cannot hear you. So you are expected to manage these stairs on your own. Apparently there is a lift some 500mtrs away from this Entrance, however there is No information informing you of this nor is there any information about the intercom not working. We was Given a room on the 5TH floor, the first room we was given must be the Worse room in the hotel. The window in the room has had half the pain frosted, this is to try and hide the hideous 60ft wall that is about 12ft from the widow. Fortunately the lady cleaning the rooms (Vicky) moved us next door, which was a lot brighter. There was nothing wrong with the room however the firedoor in the corridor needs some serious attention. Every time someone goes through that door the whole room sakes when the door bangs shut. I normally love staying at Travelodge but I have to say this has been my worse experience by far, the only person in the hotel who wanted to put things right was Vicky, if she really is the cleaner, then she wants promoting to manager. Fortunately there is another Travelodge close by which in my opion is so much better, so if you want a peaceful night with easy access to your room then go there. If you want a Hotel with no managers on duty, 30 odd stairs to get your pushchair and Shopping up and firedoors that could wake the dead then this hotel is ideal.

Unfortunately I can't give a good review as on arrival the evening of my booking I was informed that there was no room available for me. I'd called earlier in the afternoon to advise reception I'd be checking in late that evening as I'd arrived too early in the day to book in and had met some friend for drinks. I was assured that this wasn't going to be an issue as there's someone on reception all night and then when I arrive I get told we've over booked. They did sort a room in an alternative hotel but bar telling me what hotel that was my only assistance to get there. As I'd had a few drinks I wasn't going to drive so I had to get a cab around to the other hotel out of my own pocket and then walk back to the travel lodge the following morning to get my car back which was parked there. Unfortunately this seems to be the done thing for Travelodge around the country these days which is they just over book constantly. Unfortunately I can't recommend based on these issues. I know Travelodge is more at the budget end of the scale but you still expect to actually get a room when you've booked on.

I stayed in February, sorry for writing the review just now . The hotel location is good just hard to guess it was on the top floor. It took me a while to find the entrance . The shower curtains are very weird and allow the water to be splashed outside of the cabin. I had to ask for extra towels to wipe and dry around . The air conditioning was great though. I was told they won’t be cleaning during my a week stay and that was ok with me. The bed was huge and comfortable. There was a weird guy at the reception that didn’t know what’s blanket and laundry - I asked him for where I can wash my clothes and to give me an extra blanket and he didn’t know what that was. There was a lady from the staff that was a bit rude in the way she presented the exit I used was the wrong one . The rest of the staff were ok . I still though find it very hard to get why the last receptionist I met to say goodbye asked did I use internet at all as she asked me to write me a review of the hotel. Is there anyone nowadays that doesn’t ?

  • Julian White

I stayed in both Travelodges in Leicester this week, and the experience here was much more negative. It took me 40 minutes to get into the hotel as the buzzers at the entrance are ignored. A staff member said they must be broken, but it transpired that they had been broken the day before and were still broken the day after and I had to let a guest in. I struggle to see how a hotel manager doesn't think it might be a good idea to come up with an alternative solution to this, even if just a little sign with a phone number or WhatsApp number to contact reception. The hotel is new and the rooms are clean, but the windows are sealed and the sleep environment is quite sterile and stuffy. Unusually for Travelodge, there is air conditioning, which I liked, although it is a little loud and might cause some issues for light sleepers. Based on my experiences, would recommend a stay at the Travelodge Leicester Central instead.

We started our stay hear with great disappointment due to our room (and many others) not being ready. Check in is at 3pm yet we had to wait until almost 7pm to gain access to our room. When we finally got to our room, it was ok. No mugs available and the toilet hadn't been cleaned properly but we looked passed that because we'd already waited long enough. The next day we were told that with the parking code it'd be £5 when in fact it was £10 which was another disappointment. Throughout our whole stay, the hotel was fully booked with only 2-4 young staff working as management had gone away and not got cover. The girls on the reception where great and were clearly doing their best to help everyone which I can not fault at all but from what I heard from a fellow guest, this isn't the first time the hotel has been understaffed and there has been a long wait time for the rooms to be ready.

Great place to stay. Its surprisingly very clean and well maintained hotel. The prices are mid range compared to other hotels in Leister. It's located right in the middle of Town centre. Before booking please bear in mind it comes with limitations of Travel lodge , amenities are very limited you have to bring your own to hotel, you can't call the reception no phone service, no room service , no breakfast service , internet is chargeable, no Resturant in the hotel, Reception staff are very limited , no free parking . It's located in city center and you have come to city parking to get to the main reception through the car park. Our friends got lost many times. The parking for multiple entry is £5.00 if your hotel guest. If you book a family room they will two extra beds needs to main bed. Think of the all cost associated when you are booking mid range hotels like this. Overall clean place no complaints about it. Enjoy your stay.

  • Feargal

Terrible experience. We tried to book in before 3 and were told that we would have to wait until 3 which was fine. Problem was that we had to leave straight away to go a rugby match. We asked if it was ok to check in later & we were assured that our rooms were safe. When we arrived back to the hotel we were told that there was a problem with our rooms. Something to do with Poison & then this became a Chemical Spill issue. They would not explain what this meant exactly. We were told there was nothing they could do for us. After some pleading by us they agreed to ring other Travelodges for us. They were able to get us rooms in a hotel 8 Miles from the city. They turn told us that we would have to pay for the taxi journey there and back to collect our cars. Don't stay in this hotel, the staff don't care about you

I am very disappointed with this hotel. Cleaning staff is very rude and never want to clean rooms. I was often told that they can’t dust or vacuum rooms and I had to do it myself. One of the cleaner staff argued with me and refused to clean my room. I had two weeks stay and not once was made welcome. The door lock often didn’t work and I had to get my card fix every-time I left the room. Breakfast time I was told that they only provide cold milk and can’t warm up milk for a child. I would never stay here in my entire life! Please don’t book this place just because it is cheap. I rather pay somewhere more where I am welcomed to stay. The staff members here treat you as if they are forced to work in this place. Not once they smile or greet you.

Probably the best Travelodge I've stayed in. Massive room with AIR CON!!! (even though the website said otherwise and it was the hottest day of the year. Almost booked another hotel with Aircon. Glad I didn't). Spotless. Comfy bed. Central location. £36 for the night. Really impressed. The only really picky thing I could say is that the TV was a little small. Well, more that it was so far from the bed it seemed small (probably 7mtrs away, that is how big the room was!!) Twin USB charge points on all sockets. Did I mention the Aircon?? Seems very, very new. Will be interesting to see how it fares a year.down the line. Will defo go back.

Excellent access on top of the Haymarket car park with plenty of parking right outside reception. Staff were helpful. We had a large room which was clean, very limited storage for cloths, we were there for three nights but could not really unpack. After the first night the room was serviced as request but bins not emptied. On the next day it was not serviced as requested, guessed they were short staffed. Car parking great value at £5 for 24 hours with code from reception. We wanted a,good breakfast cafe and found one in the shopping centre, The Dining Room, excellent menus at very reasonable prices and friendly staff. Went up to Highcross shopping centre around the back for evening meals.

Unfortunately I went into Travelodge Leicester City Centre on Tuesday 19th September 2023, asking to book a room for the night. I went in a woman with blonde hair tied back was sitting in the office she came out she looked at my in a nasty way I asked if I could book a room, she said to me " We don't take people of the street", I was very shocked and walked out, I had to travel back to London extremely angry and tired. I just looked at Travelodge policy and it said they do take walk ins. She was lying and is a DISGRACE. She has made Travelodge unprofessional, your company had lost a sale. For this reasons I would not recommend this Travelodge.

  • Michelle Wilson

The location is amazing everything's on your doorstep, the reason for the 2* is our first room had dirty sheets (make up and dried food) our second room had a long black hair on my pillow and the bin was still full of lady sanitation stuff and make up wipes!!! The girls at reception sorted it straight away and apologised. We paid £35 for 1 night so I don't expect the ritz but I do expect a clean room and didn't get that TWICE!! (Also the shower curtain was too small for the shower tray so flooded when we had a shower, so had to use 1 of our towels on the floor and share the other one)

We stayed here on the 18th of December, hoping that it would be a decent budget hotel. Access was terrible through the buzzer system and I thought that the staff weren't very informative about anything, including the fact you have to ask them for cups, tea etc now. Our room had a broken light, full bins and if I had covered myself in sellotape I would have done a better job rolling around the carpet than the cleaner had done with the hoover. The manager was going to call me next day or send an e mail and we are still waiting! Shambles of a place!

Once again a great stay at a Travelodge in what has to be the best location in Central Leicester. Super modern room, really nice toilet, bath & shower. All spotlessly clean. Great staff, very friendly and kind.Especially, 3 of lady's was working there they were so helpful during my time in Travelodge, the name of Yaissra, Reanne,Aaeuyah. Definitely is the best place to go.

Honestly the first time I went there, I thought it was a perfect hotel so the next month I came back another time for 2 months but then this lady who worked there accused me of cooking I said no because I wasn’t allowed but then the next day I saw her guarding my room with another staff,1 week later she came into my room without my permission and went through my stuff, she had said that she cleaned the room but in reality she did quite the opposite,I don’t know if they have done this to other people but I don’t recommend this hotel.

Disabled access is very poor directions using the sat nav have post code provided does not take you to the hotel directly and if you're walking to the hotel tell using the sat nav have it is very confusing so just for everyone's knowledge the entrance to the hotel is next door to the Tesco's but if you're disabled you have a long walk in and covered car park so I suggest if it is raining make sure you have a brolly or you will get extremely wet. On a positive side it is one of the few hotels that actually have windows that open but I am advised there's only a selected few

If you're a fan of Travelodges and Leicester then you can't go wrong. Clean rooms, comfortable beds and larger bath towels than most of their competitors. They always seem to have friendly staff on the desk as well. Discounted parking is a bonus in a city where parking is often unreasonably expensive. Our main niggle is the ridiculous shower curtains that stop about 6 inches above the shower tray meaning that the floor gets wet quickly. We'll be back next year for the Leicester Comedy Festival again.

The good - very spacious room. comfy bed, nice bathroom. The bad - the milk was out of date and came out of the little tubs in lumps. No hand wash in the bathroom, both of these were fixed promptly when we asked. No drinking vessels of any kind, not even plastic, nor any water or biscuits, both of which you get at 'Spoons. The room was not made up, so the tea/coffee was not topped up, good job we were only staying 2 nights. Not very good for such an expensive hotel.

I was offered late check out for free by Travelodge customer services due to having a previous bad experience at another hotel. Unfortunately the man on reception told me I still needed to pay £10. When I showed him the emails to customer services, he said he’d come back to my room to let me know but never did. My pillow also had stains on it and the shower was poorly designed so water went all over the floor. On the plus side though, the room was very big and had air conditioning so I would probably stay here again.

  • Bee

Great location, lovely staff, cheap and clean rooms… what more could you want from a budget hotel? Only downer, was that my window was covered with a black film, but I’m assuming it was for privacy reasons - so I wasn’t too bothered! Plus the car park was a little hard to navigate. Both won’t stop me from coming here again. I had a nice stay!

Great hotel other than a receptionist actually thinking it's OK to take my name from the system and actually message me on Facebook! Hotel itself is fine, staff very helpful, however if you drive anything other than a car it's not suitable as car park is a multi story with very tight turns and very small ramps to get to hotel entrance. Had to park off site which is exspensive at £20 and tickets expire at 4am. Not hotels fault but a huge inconvenience as appears there is ample parking when look online while booking.

I was on the 4th Floor with very noisy, loud and disruptive refugees/guests in the rooms opposite. They were banging and slamming doors, running riot in the corridors and making very loud noises from midnight until 5 am ! They only stopped when I threatened to call the police. I had to endure 5 hours of constant noise and anti social behavior from grown men! Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

Tried to check in abit early, they said to come back at 2:30. We came back at 2:45 and asked if we can check in, they said we can't have have to come back in 15 mins. This is such awful behaviour. I tend to use travellodge a alot but not sure after this. On top of this the staff member was really rude and the manager had to step in and apologise. Best to avoid this one. The room wasn't kept kindly either. Avoid

The Good: Bed comfy, shower good.Spacious rooms. The bad: No toilet paper or towels in one of our rooms. Strange red fluid stains next to the bed in carpet and litter on floor in one room. Large ball of someone's hair next to bed in the other! Shower curtains too flimsy (one with hole in) to stop water going all over the floor when showering.

It's is what you would expect, no thrills room, it was however, spotless, very well cleaned. The staff were all friendly which makes it 4 star not 3 rating from me

Nice hotel - Very well located in the centre of town. Careful if you have a big car as the carparking is very tight to negotiate but plenty of spaces to use

  • Oday Sati

A little awkward to get too by foot, but the biggest cleanest rooms ever and staff were really great and helpful,. Bang in the centre.. Thank you. …

  • Susan Lamb

It was adequate for our needs, comfortable beds, friendly staff, the only reason I gave 4 was because of the 2 flights of stairs at the front entrance.

  • Debra Barnett

This one is one of the good ones staff sound room sound everything works for a change just wish they had windows u can open we all need fresh air

  • Mark

Room was OK but not cleaned the best also as it's a central location very close to all pubs and busy main road you MUST expect not get much sleep

  • Kevin Mc

Note. This is NOT an accessible hotel. Eventually you'll find a way around this, but not when checking in. If you arrive by car you'll be OK.

Good clean hotel at a good price. Car park is a pain to find, call ahead of time and get the right postcode. But nice place to stay

  • Willem Hüsken

I found the squeaky fiber filled pillows annoying.

Cheap stay, 5£ discount only on shopping centre parking. Blinds in my room were not very effective. Water pressure OK.
