It’s not the worst hotel ever, but there are a whole host of issues with it, some age of hotel based, but many managements based. We stayed there rather than the Ibis just up the road, we regretted it The location is good, and availability of reasonably priced parking hood. However, there are ‘reserved’ spaces for the Premier Inn, but there is no way to enforce if you are a guest or not. On Saturday there were no spaces as lots of rugby fans were using the Premier Inn spaces, and then walking to the stadium. So, if you come when rugby/football is on, you risk having no space. The room itself is small and our room had a huge pillar in it taking up even more space. why. Our room had no opening windows and the bathroom ventilation is via a small inadequate fan and so the room was warm and humid. Post Covid, they’re claiming the environment is the reason they don't clean rooms now. Housekeeping is every 5 days unless you ask at reception. I don’t dispute the environmental benefits (I agree), but their primary motivation is to reduce operational costs and this just a way maintain positive PR. Other chains do the same but reduce the room rate if you don’t require cleaning/towels, they don’t seek to profit from it. It’s greenwashing. As the room has Aircon, and with the lack of ventilation, the only way to remove moisture from the air is to use the aircon, which is greater impact to the environment. Our towels never dried, and the room post shower was incredibly warm given it was 14 degrees outside. The ineffective aircon was the only option. The mattress bowed in the middle, and so somewhat rolled us into the middle and made it feel incredibly small. We didn’t get a single good nights sleep. I gave up with the free WiFi quickly, it was poor There are two slow lifts, both working independently. Everyone pushes both buttons call the fastest lift and when they stop at floors for no reason (as someone pushed both buttons), it makes it a very painful experience. At checkout time, it was incredibly bad, and genuinely took about 10 minutes to get from room to key drop off. The hotel has 12 floors by the way On day 1 we our keys didn’t work. At reception were initially told it “was our fault”, as we’d likely put them next to our phone, words to this exact effect were used, ‘it was our fault’. We ignored the rudeness of accusation and the fact that this would be a terrible technology in 2023 if it was a problem, and the employee checked the system. We’d been checked out despite having another 2 nights booked (it was not a split booking). Not understanding why, the employee, with no apology for the accusation just huffed and said she needed a manager The manager arrived and couldn’t explain why, (she’d also checked us in the night before). At no point was there any level of empathy for the now 30 minutes we’d had wasted, no apology, not even politeness. Given we’d just been blamed for the issue, when it transpired it was 100% with Premier Inn, a little tact would have gone a long way, and we’d view the experience very differently. We asked why this happened, and would it happen again. The answer was “I’m not a software engineer, and if you’re unhappy, you should formally complain". (I have). If this had been done in a friendly, polite manner, it’s a story of how they took ownership, apologising for their error. Instead, it’s a story of the contempt they have for their customers and the reason for complaint Breakfast was ok, but they’d run out of plates (we waited 5-10 mins for a plate, then food would run out) The whole place just seemed poorly managed, and not what you’d expect from Premier Inn. All little things you’d ignore but for the rudeness of a couple of staff mishandling a situation

Rooms have windows that don't open, and with terrible ventilation from the fan in the shower, the room was always hot and humid despite being 14 degrees and not exactly a heat wave. The rooms are small, and the beds even smaller, they bow in the middle and was a terrible nights sleep

Fast check-in & check-out experience. Friendly and helpful staff. Superb location: just by the side of the train station and only couple of minutes walk from the city centre. There are local supermarkets, coffee shops, food, snack shops and restaurants in very close proximity of the hotel. The rooms are pretty clean and tidy, however, the bathroom was a little bit outdated. The beds were comfortable and completely fine even for longer stays. On-site food and drink facilities and 24 H front desk are also at disposal of the travellers, therefore I can recommend this place for short- and medium length stays.

The rooms, generally speaking, are clean and tidy, however I've spotted some minor traces of mold and mildew around the windows and in one of the corners of the bathroom. Our room for 2 adults and an infant was very spacious and comfortable. It was equipped with every basic necessities that can be handy for short stay: large wardrobe with external shelves and doors, coat hangers, chairs and armchairs, quite big desk, smart TV, bedside table, plenty of plugs including special socket with usb ports a I've the table. The windows are big and let in plenty of light during the day, however, the thick curtain can be used during the night to keep the room dark. Last but lot least, the room had a wall to wall carpet (it's not my personal favourite due to cleaning issues), and the bathroom a bath with shower head and shower curtain.
Nearby activities
The city centre can be easily accessed by walk from here where there are plenty of places to go and visit: Richard III visitor centre, Leicester Cathedral, Guildhall, Town hall, Clock Tower, parks, countless restaurants, coffee shops and other shops. The nightlife also can be exciting and many clubs or pubs with music can be found within a couple of minute walk distance from the hotel.

Terrible wifi Adequate hotel in pretty good location in city centre in a tall dated high rise so little traffic etc noise. Room had structural pillar in it, broken/mended toilet bowl, 2 slow clunking lifts, but was clean and could see done up last few years. Pretty bad free wifi n option to pay extra for 'ultimate' wifi which wasnt that much better. Bad wifi is not acceptable & inexcusable. Not a bad hotel tho a bit pricey (I made a lateish booking) in a convenient location. I generally stay in premier inns n this one is avg. Check in staff bit surly and female manager somewhat shrill dealing with another guest checking in tho rest of staff I saw were pleasant. Think management wants as little interaction with guests as possible ie have to ask for replacement towels (we got 2 for 3 night stay n bath mat) by going to reception as no phone in room since room not automatically checked/cleaned during my 3 night stay, self check in/out heavily promoted etc which is fine. Got impression every opportunity taken to charge extra n cut back on staff is being made by hotel management. Was talking to another guest at breakfast who stays occassionally n mentioned now charging nominal amt for parking tho free previously but as I got train I'm not sure if this correct.

Room was clean, but my beef about Premier Inn now is that they don't service the rooms anymore unless you are staying 5 nights plus. At least this is what Premier Inn Leicester (LE1 1AA) Reception told us upon on arrival Sunday March 19th for our 3 night stay. The website implies you have to request room being serviced at Reception which is what I did. Why did the T&C's say to request room servicing but not mention it was only applicable to 5 nights + ?.....The receptionist said she'd put us on the list but that was their policy. Sure enough there was no attempt at room service. My objection to this is because I haven't chosen to self cater....I did not take with me the means to clean the crockery or indeed the toilet had it needed it!.....I did still give the stay 4 out of 5 stars as it is just a niggle but it does wind me up. The shower door in room 1012 is faulty too. It must be on a slight slope so comes away from being closed whilst you are in the shower. I had to be sure the water jet faced the wall so as not to soak the entire bathroom though the opening door. It was a very quiet room being at the very end of the corridor and plenty natural daylight. Could do with more storage areas as there was only 1 large draw and 1 small beside draw but plenty of space to have added more. We did buy the evening meal and breakfast deal for 1 evening meal and 1 morning breakfast. It's not a bad deal and food tastes fine.

On arrival, the receptionist had a poor attitude and a miserable face. Great start! Then up in the lift to the 9th floor. Room was very clean and a nice room with all amenities. Went to look out the window, but they don’t open!!! I like fresh air and also the net curtain fell on my head. Every time I wanted to smoke had to go back down outside, but my fault because I smoke. In the morning in reception there were 3 cyclists with their bicycles repairing them where people were trying to walk!!!! Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Had to ask for more toilet roll. Then had to ask at bar for more T bags, only to be met with the same receptionist with the poor attitude and miserable face, who thought it was more important to carry on put glasses away than attend to a customer. The lift kept stopping at reach floor so the cleaners coukd drag all their bags in!! Not good, they should use a service lift and not hold guests up. In the end we packed our bags and left a night early. Premier Inn: Do not use staff who obviously do not want to offer a friendly greeting and be in this kind of profession because I won’t be coming back!!!

AVOID!! Absolutely filthy. Wish I could find the option to post photos and videos. No remorse to rectify the fact that we had been given such a dirty room, instead just moved into a smaller room just as bad. At least the second one has toilet roll!! Told to go get our towels from the first room on floor 11 and take them to the second room on floor 12. No apologise or shame just made to feel like we had inconvenienced them. If it wasn’t a business trip I would head straight back home.

Where do I start. Absolute filth! The room looked like it hadn’t been occupied for a long time. There was dust everywhere and I’m not talking a few speckles, I’m talking thick dark dust, especially over the top of the bed. No toilet roll the bed itself was covered in marks.
Safety
No instruction on booking confirmation as the where we could park. We entered a pay and display right next to the hotel which you would assume is where guests would park. Once inside we realised it’s more of a shelter for homeless people. We then tried to exit the car park but the exit itself was blocked by 4 men doing a blatant drug deal who wouldn’t move until they had finished. The most unsafe situation when all you want to do is park your car after a 3 hour drive.

The woman on the check in desk was friendly and helpful. The following day when I requested more coffee pods she delivered them to my room because she didn't have any immediately to hand. There was plenty of spare milk, tea and coffee sachets in the reception area. The room was very quiet until you opened the window but the hotel is on a main road so it's to be expected. However the room was cool enough even in warm weather. Lovely complimentary toiletries provided. Great view over the city. WiFi fast enough to stream Netflix. As a solo female traveller I felt very safe. I stayed in Premier Plus room 906

We stayed a couple of nights in the hotel, and ate there one night. The hotel is about a minute from the train station, and is perched on the corner of the main shopping precinct. This meant we were at most 5 minutes from the high Street. Check in was a doddle, and very welcoming. We arrived early, but that didn't deter the receptionist from checking us in. As anticipated, the rooms were spotless, well supplied and very comfortable. My back always feels better after a couple of nights in a Premier Inn! We ate in the restaurant that evening. The food was the standard fare you would expect in a large chain hotel, but quite delicious. Service as anticipated was first rate. The fabled Premier Inn breakfast was excellent. Lots of food to choose from, served as their famous breakfast buffet. The food was succulent (not dry as can sometimes happen), and the service perfect. Having stayed in a number of Premier Inns across the UK, we did know what to expect. However, amongst all those we have stayed at, Leicester is the best one yet.

This place is dangerous and dirty. I booked a room at Premier Inn Leicester City for my mother and auntie. Their room was broken into by a stranger while they were still in the room. Staff at reception had given out a room key without consent and a strange woman was able to freely roam the halls then take the key and open their room while staff was present. My mother and auntie had to barricade their room that night as they are older ladies and feared having to fend off another intruder. I am furious this happened to my family. Janice Bignell at Whitbread group, the owner of Premier Inn has denied responsibility and thought a free breakfast would fix the trauma. They also lied during their investigation which is a huge red flag, which means reputation is more important than customer safety.

The room was clean, and the beds comfortable. However 2 night stay was incredibly basic, and wasn't ideal for disabled people. The car park was not free, like advertised on the website, and it was a nightmare. There were solid pillars all over the place, including the disabled bays. Which only had room on one side. Which isn't good when you have more than one disabled person with you. We were placed on the 12th floor, and the lifts were extremely busy. You often had to wait for them. There were not enough lifts for the traffic they got. They were also very slow, and stopped often when they didn't need to. The shower was inside the bath, so our disabled people couldn't shower. There was also no bath mat. Our toilet was also stained really weird on the seat. Our rooms were also not together. Which was a small detail, but with everything else made things a little trickier.

I stayed there for one night in a double room with queen size bed. It cost me 50 pounds but the check in time is 3pm. If you want to checkin early then you need to pay 10 pounds extra. The location is nice and next to the station and walking distance to city center. It is open 24/7. The room was clean also. You can not open windows in the room. There is inbuilt AC and heater, you can adjust the temperature from 18 to 30 degrees. There was bath tub as well. But the cupboard was open. Moreover there was a strange pillar in my room, not sure what was that. There is TV in the room but there is no intercom. I didn't book the breakfast.

I use the premier inn a lot for work reasons. It's always clean and tidy in the rooms and the staff are lovely. However, the facilities in the room don't always work well, the pillows are hard and always leave me with neck ache and there are times when you go to speak to staff and no one is at the front desk. Generally it's a decent enough place to sleep but my last stay their was a large group of people who were drinking excessively and it led to broken glass in the lift and me feeling so intimidated I didn't even eat in the restaurant instead choosing to stay in my room. They can't be responsible for the clientele, but all I can say is its left me feeling anxious about my next stay.

Stayed here while in Leicester for a few days. Hotel is located in a fantastic location, metres from restaurants, bars and the High Cross shopping centre. The hotel is very basic, but has everything you need, the bed was comfortable, had extra pillows, tea, coffee facilities. There wasn't a hair dryer in the room, but asked at reception and was provided with one straight away. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. There was a random smell of weed in the hotel corridors during the evening, but this seemed to go in the mornings, once house keeping had been. The walls are very thin, so you could hear people walking around above you. The hotel backs on to a main road, so there is quite a bit if road noise, I'm used to this, so was fine for me, but be advised if your not used to it.

I stayed with my 3 year old son for 3 nights. Disappointed with the cleanliness of the bathroom, very dirty, with signs of use and an unpleasant smell. I cleaned it myself so we could use it. I asked them to come clean it twice, someone came the second day but it was still dirty, it looks like they only changed the garbage bags. Cleaning and replacement was not done daily, we had no coffee and no paper in the bathroom. Free internet only on the first day. Meals are good. The rest of the room is fine. Great location. Heating works. The morning staff in the restaurant are friendly and available, I can't say the same for some in the evening.

Ridiculously close to the station and overall centre of Leicester. Not as modern and updated as other Premier Inn’s I’ve been to but it does the job nevertheless. The hairdryer I had in my room was quite old. Nice rooms and bathrooms and friendly staff. I really appreciated the fact that you can’t properly access the lifts without your card key. I’ve not seen this before and appreciated that extra level of security. I had breakfast there at around half past 7 on my final day (Monday) of my stay and it was just myself and another person so an ideal time to eat breakfast. Staff were lovely and the food was great, although the mushrooms were a bit dry and chewy. Their pain au chocolat are lovely

I stayed at Leicester Premier Inn for three nights as I was visiting Leicester with a friend. The location is great as it is right by the station and very close to everything else. We were able to book in earlier than advertised which was a big bonus. My room was clean and had everything I needed in it, I was really happy with it. The breakfast was great value for money and really nice, I would definitely recommend taking this option. All the staff were super friendly and very helpful, especially Naomi who was on breakfast duty each morning. I would happily stay here again if I came back to Leicester.

I often use Premier Inns when on rail based holidays and I selected this hotel because of its proximity to the railway station. It was very convenient for the station and the city centre. The weakness of this hotel is the room layout. My room had a door to the adjoining room. The door was thin and failed to act as soundproofing. On two nights different sets of occupants next door kept up noisy conversations and played music far into the night. If the room had solid walls and no door it would have been fine. As it was, I was sleep deprived the next day. So, on balance, I would advise against using this particular Premier Inn.

I was strangely excited to stay here because I thought I would have a great view over the city. Unfortunately I got a third floor room with a view onto an office block. After the crushing disappointment of that (nobody's fault, obviously) everything was fine. The decor of the room felt dated, but it was very clean, warm and quiet. For the price, it was a bargain, and the breakfast was generic but good.

First time at this Premier Inn and pleasantly surprised. Looking from the outside it’s a tall tower block and thought it may have been a bit tired inside but the room was amazing and just as up to date as any other premier in hotel. Room was larger than any premier inn I’ve ever stopped in! The views from the twelfth floor room were amazing as you can see in my photos. There is a car park below the hotel which costs £5 a day, just type in your car registration on the computer at reception. The hotel is super handy for visiting Leicester and is right next to the railway station. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Good place to stay because in the city centre. There were some disadvantages. Staff nice, but often nobody in a reception and you need to use a bell or check in on your own. I had a reservation for 2 adults, but towels were only for 1. It wasn’t checked that a body liquid and conditioner almost have run out and when I was taking a shower I was surprised when I didn’t have any to wash myself. The similar problem was with toilet paper as tissues, poor quality. A Supervisor should check rooms before customer gets a key room.

Another PremierInn. Good city centre location. Parking underneath hotel - £5 a night. Don’t go into the NCP car park next door. Friendly efficient staff. It’s a big hotel - 12 floors and the lift system is not good. 2 slow lifts on a busy evening leaves you hanging around for 5 mins!! Rooms are typical. Comfy bed, tidy bathroom. No iron and ironing board but they are available at reception. Good breakfast. Good but not great.

Rooms were great, clean and comfy. My only complaints are the lifts (which seem to have a mind of their own) and the breakfasts which were pretty bad. Couldn't fault it location right next to the station, staff really friendly, rooms were spotless plus the shower is powerful! Not to mention breakfast was on point highly recommend. Best branch I've been to so far. Don't need to mention the bed. Every premier Inn bed is sooo comfortable, top marks from me :)

A nice comfortable and clean room with a good shower. I had a good sleep. Breakfast was good with a special mention to Paula in the restaurant, she was very helpful. I will definitely stay here again when in the area

Really cannot fault my stay at Premier Inn The service was great staff could not have been any better. Food was really good and at a reasonable price. My room was clean and comfy had all the amenities I required hairdryer TV kettle, coffee and tea. Towels and hand wash shower gel .

Great location to stay. Only a minute away from train station and town centre. It is not pricy. Big thank for the staff. They don't have "NO" in their mouth. All requests have "YES" with a big smile. Also, they are quite helpful for the public. I've never seen that they rejected any person need help even from residents or public

I have used this premier Inn a couple of times now, it is walking distance into town. The carpark is limited in size, it is fine on a Sunday but we got the last parking space on Saturday.

the room was up to the standard as expected of premier inn and the staff were helpful but looks like they overcharged me for 1 night parking, had to pay £10 as I was in a bit hurry but when I checked it later in the website it say £5 for night so no clue what went wrong there. The breakfast was good and the staff were helpful

Worst customer service i've ever seen. The 2 ladies in the bar were so incredibly rude and couldn't even pay attention when i was trying to ask them for help (because i've got an accent) It felt terribly targeted and one of them even left me speaking with myself. horrific

Stayed here as it was our works Christmas party, and this hotel is in walking distance to where the venue is, in fact the location of this hotel is perfect. Room was spot on, clean tidy, so quiet, and the bed was so comfy. As a solo female in a large hotel, you feel totally at ease, which certainly helps. More

Clean rooms, great shower, comfy bed, good a/c., Great Central location, next to railway station and city centre. Slow elevators, noisy outside. Strange pillars in room

It was OK. A bit soulless, but I was away on a business trip so didn't expect much as most other guests similar. Good to have a secure car park, however sometimes a bit difficult to manoeuvre a larger vehicle due to the support posts. Staff friendly. Rooms clean. Breakfast plentiful. I'd stay again.

Decent spot and really clean. Only issue i had was that the bath and shower did not work, getting drunk and not being able to shower wasnt fun..

The females at the check in desk were rude and not helpful at all. Bed was cranky and room didn’t smell very pleasant. Had to speak to a manager who then was helpful. Very small room and 2 single beds had been pushed together when I asked for a family room. More

Very good hotel, stayed on the 12th floor, so views were a nice bonus, only downside is the lifts, a call button for each lift, and no directional indicator means people call both lifts, and as a result many extra floors are served without people getting on.

A clean hotel, which is nice given the current times. However, the lifts are pretty woeful, we were on the 7th floor and spent far too long waiting to get up and down, crazily the stairs are the convenient option. When one can finally call

Nice 4 night stay in Leicester while working nearby. The Hotel must rank amongst the biggest Premier Inn anywhere! 12 floors of rooms and then a few more above, what for I don't know.

  • John Keaney

The hotel may well be nice to stay in but if you visit, our friends were staying there, I would suggest parking somewhere else, the Railway Station car park is close by.
