Yesterday my friend and I had a terrible experience at this Shoppers. The moment we entered the store, we both noticed that the security guard began following us immediately. At the time there we’re quite a few people in store shopping like we were, though anytime I would look over he would be there just staring at us. It made us feel incredibly unwelcome and uncomfortable. Once my friend and I began walking to the self checkout, he started trailing closely behind us. At that point after I had rung up my items I turned around to ask why he was following just us, and he then replied “Do your work” while still intensely staring. Then two other customers that had noticed he had followed my friend and I throughout the store asked why he was staring and only singling us out when we weren’t stealing. The security guard then looked noticeably embarrassed and finally walked away. My friend and I were the only people of colour in the store at the time, which makes us feel like this was racial motivated. No one should ever feel uncomfortable shopping in a store. No one should be accused of stealing the moment they walk into a storefront; it’s just not fair. I understand that theft is a huge problem, though my friend and I didn’t appreciate being profiled while we were just trying to buy some snacks for our movie night.
I work close by and I'm usually in here a lot. Mostly, it's a very positive experience and I can find exactly what I need. I'm not including experiences during COVID-19 because the circumstances are totally different, but I will note that the staff has been wonderful during this time and I feel for them having to work as well! My only complaint about the store is the "fresh" foods that are not so fresh. Because I often need produce, I check here to save time. The produce is often aged and moldy. One day, I checked every tray of grape tomatoes and each one had mold in it, over a dozen. I commented to the clerk when I went to pay and she sent someone. However, I have often grabbed items like the Romaine lettuce in a bag, got it home and found the edges brown. The same is true for the bagged salads. I bought some chicken breasts and thighs, not expired nor near so, only to open the packages and gag from the smell. turnover is important as is the exact refrigeration and it seems that is not being kept up.
My wife and I booked Strep Tests online as we both had extremely sore throats hoping we'd get quick results and quick prescription to resolve the issue quickly. Upon arrival the pharmacy workers didn't seem to know about our appointments. The new machine they use for Strep Tests according to them had been turned off and needed to reboot. The tests were 45 minutes late due to multiple logistical issues on their end. Our tests came back as false negatives. I found this out by going to the hospital days later due to the agony of my throat pain just to find out there that the Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacy tests were flawed. Wasted not only time going there, but they charge $30 per test that is neither timely nor accurate. I wish I'd just gone to the ER initially in order to have started treatment in a timely manner instead of this. That mistake I own and won't make again.
Victor Park is correct, the rest are fake comments. I unfortunately have to go there the odd time, because I live next door:( Never are they polite, & curdeous. If long line ups form, they could care less about getting some help. Not once have they ever assisted me to find a product. In fact, the last time I was there they need security guards watching people. Maybe the area is going down. Or, I am not aware of immediate danger the store may possess. Do not worry it is only this location with these mean insensitive employee's, every other location has been amazing, including the one on Granvile & 13th...it is further....I even bumped into my loving 88 year old neighbor there...I asked "how come, you come out of your way to come to this shoppers drug mart?" She replied the exact things that Victor Park & I noticed. Anyone who disagrees...try it your self.
Shoppers Drug Mart needs to do more to ensure the health and safety of their customers as well as their staff! Does Shoppers as a whole not have any health and safety mandates to protect their staff and customers? I see plexi glass at the register but by the time you get to checking out, the damage may very well be done. Crowded narrow aisles with multiple staff stocking shelves while not wearing masks or gloves and refusing to give way as you shop. In fact, I saw more customers wearing masks than staff. Why has the leadership of this company done nothing to mandate PPE for their employees for everyone’s protection? I was too uncomfortable to buy most of the items on my list after deeming most aisles ‘not worth it’ due to safety concerns. Until I see more care for everyone’s health and safety, I will not return to this location.
i just went shopping last night and was treated very terrible . when i entered the store the beauty section customer service representative was talking on the phone . so i just walked around , so i can talk to her when she finished . But the security guard was giving me looks and he followed me in every aisle . i don’t think this is normal .If you saw me stealing something then you can do it , i guess but he literally followed me while i was just browsing and gave me dirty looks while asking , you looking for anything - you are security guard not a customer service representative. it was terrible experience and when i pay for my things and the lady opened the locked door which i don’t have any clue why automatic door was locked in the open hours . please treat customers like customers not everyone is a thief .
Edit: Outrageous prices here now. Almost 5 bucks for Wonder bread? Gimmie a hit of that pipe you must be smoking. Save your hard earned dollars and spend it somewhere else. Walk down to LD and IGA instead. Better value and better quality. "THANK YOU FOR USING SELF CHECKOUT TODAY. PLEASE TAKE YOUR BAGS AND YOUR RECIEPT" Seriously, turn down the obnoxiously loud volume. Whatever reasoning you have, you're wrong. Your poor staff will have PTSD if they ever need to use a self checkout in the future. Price gouging on pretty much everything. There's not a single item sold here you couldn't find for significantly cheaper elsewhere. I'd expect nothing less from our Loblaw overlords.
Not much expectations of Shoppers drug mart stores to be honest . the chain has to really revolutionize their customer service . My recent experience at this store today was beyond understanding how they conduct business there ! Trying to purchase a guitar for my kid that is in scotch tape sealed box, asked customer service teller about their exchange and refund policy , said due to holiday season everything is final sale ! asked her again can I at least open the box and make sure there is a guitar inside and not broken or anything , she tells me to buy it and then open it and if there is anything wrong contact the manufacture !! Great customer service shoppers...
My recent experience at this Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacy left me thoroughly disappointed and frustrated. The unprofessionalism, inefficiency, and unreliability of the staff were apparent, highlighting a dire need for improved training. Customers should be able to rely on their local pharmacy for accurate and timely services, and Shoppers Drug Mart must take immediate action to rectify these shortcomings. Until then, I would caution others to consider alternative pharmacies with a more reliable and customer-oriented approach.
The worst customer service of all the Shoppers Drug Mart locations. They treat everyone like they are going to steal something, even the regulars that have shopped here for a long time. Lived in Kitsilano for 20 years and never coming to this location ever again. The manager and staff are rude. The security guard is an ass. Hope this location go bankrupt. Go to London Drugs, much better service and they treat everyone like a customer and not a thief.
We have been coming here for 13 years and it's our favourite Shoppers. Great community feel and so handy since they now have some fresh produce. Items go on sale on a regular cycle and we can get snacks and household cleaners reliably for the best price around. We love seeing the familiar faces at the pharmacy and cash registers, especially Susan and Grace. We moved a bit further away but still walk back to this location because we like it so much.
Was followed by asian female from the cosmetics department (evening March 27 2018). Made me extremely uncomfortable, she followed me from cosmetics into diet supplements and to produce/food then to check out and finally all the way to the exit door. She was clearly profiling me for shoplifting. Unfortunate because I have lived in Kits for many years, but they are starting to trickle in here now too.
This is not the closest Shopper for me but it's the biggest. Very clean store with friendly staff especially Helen. No parking on Broadway for the past year so I've to park 1 block away now. There's a Canada Post Office but my pick up is at a closer store. There are 5 self-checkouts and I come to this Shoppers 95% of the time.
The pharmacy staff is often unfriendly and disorganized. Wait times are long and they always say that the insurance doesn’t work (but then on a retry it works…) The groceries selection has improved over time but SUPER over priced now. I do all that I can to avoid SDM, especially this location.
This store is offering all the usual items and services, with a Canada Post Office and 'convenience store' section for basic grocery needs. Metered street parking and other options available like free parking on the residential side streets. #LetsGuide #covid
We had appointments for our flu shots at the Shoppers on Broadway and Burrard. The girl was very personable and efficient. Both of us, with back to back appts were in and out within 10 minutes. Filling out the COVID-19 forms online saved alot of time.
I always go there to get my mails or packages sent from this post office. The manager is super friendly and kind, the staffs too. Claudia, the postal staff, is super nice. The cashiers at the check out are helpful and friendly. Highly recommended!
Really poorly run. Missing items, sometimes half empty shelves, products that are advertised aren't in the store or don't even carry advertised items from their flyer. Not worth visiting unless your desperate
Just witnessed the blonde checkout lady who works here publicly humiliate a young woman who was shopping quite normally but was dressed slightly alternatively. I hate seeing that kind of injustice.
They won’t open until, they guide everybody to the customers self check out. I was charging extra eight dollars because Cashier made a mistake and she would do nothing to rectify it.
Friendly staff. Has a post office and also started to sell produce. Validated parking if you make a purchase over $10. Only problem is metered parking is not available from 3-6pm.
Convenient place to buy a phone charger but save your $30 for a sub par cord that slowly charges my phone. Worked in a binde but would work in the short term.
Followed around by security guard the entire time I was in the store. Made to feel like a criminal. He was not subtle about it whatsoever. Won't be back
The pharmacy crew and overall staff are amazing. Love seeing them! Make you feel super comfortable about any questions you may have. Thank you guys!
Good deals on Presidents choice sausage jalepeno and cheddar flavor 5.99 almost 3$ savings while supply last perfect for long weekend BBQ
Very friendly and reliable drug store - Broadway location. They happily answered all my questions and filled my daughter's prescription.
This is my go-to shop and pharmacy! I get lotto tickets, sundry items and my prescription here! I'd be lost without Shoppers Drug Mart!
Postal staff are great. Cosmetics manager is good/helpful so only shop here if she's working. Use to be my go to location.
Staff member on checkout saw me waiting in line and walked away, then came back and served the customer behind me.
Donna is the best at beauty boutique, Tess is the best at post office, pharmacy staffs are wonderful and helpful.
I am a regular here because I live a block away. People is really nice. Thank you for always do a great job!
Always easy to find the weekly specials. Very helpful staff. Excellent produce and grocery shopping too.
Great Service, the pharmacists know me and have my medication ready as they see me coming in.
Consistent items across most locations. Occasionally some good prices on items.
On time delivery for prescriptions, so convenient for people with disabilities
close to cruise ship docks. Helpful service . Very clean appearance …
Always welcomed by excellent staff. Good deals and well-organized store.
Worst pharmacy next to the Shoppers on Granville.
This store does not honor shoppers coupons
