"This popular vantage point, merely a couple hundred steps from the Skyline View Point on the same road, is smaller but safer and better of the two downtown view points"
"Great place to view Calgary downtown, enjoy a picnic, just take a nice walk or to view fireworks during special occasions"
"Gorgeous views of downtown overlooking the stampede grounds"
"This is the spot to be at if you wanna see the skyline of Calgary as it’s very easy to access with ample parking space! As a tourist, this was a must visit for us and we loved walking around the area during day time and at night"
"Excellent location for a view of the entire city"
This popular vantage point, merely a couple hundred steps from the Skyline View Point on the same road, is smaller but safer and better of the two downtown view points. This grassy area on the 6 street at the intersection of Ramsay Street is better than the other skyline view point since it has a well-made wooden observation deck with a few attractive looking metal benches to enjoy the alluring views of Scotiabank Saddledome, Calgary Tower, skyscrapers, and Bow River from a different angle. It is safer because of the metal palisade at the brink of the hill from where anyone may fall down and meet with a tragic end. This feature is imperative in this era of selfie-crazy people. There have been lots of fatal casualties happening everywhere in the world because of this selfie-mania where people risk their lives in order to get better pictures of themselves with prepossessing backdrops. Both the view points on the same street, 100 paces apart, are created to give the splendid city skyline views to their visitors, so there are no picnic tables or children playgrounds; however, visitors may enjoy a couple of children play areas - Bell Avenue Park and Ramsay Park - with latest equipment in the proximity of the vantage points, enjoy at the stampede park at the foothill. You may read my review of the other vantage point - The Skyline View Point - and see photos of downtown from a different angle.

Great place to view Calgary downtown, enjoy a picnic, just take a nice walk or to view fireworks during special occasions. You can also walk down the hill and walk alongside the bow river. It's also the best view in the city to overlook the actual Calgary Stampede attractions in the summer when its in the city. You can actually see most of the Grandstand events and bull riding and horse races from the hill too. It does get super busy though during Stampede time so you wanna go early - at least an hour before fireworks to get a good spot to watch and enjoy it. Police frequently bike through there too so it's actually a pretty safe place to be. I'm born and raised in Calgary so I visit this place fairly often every year. I also used to work at the old Stampede Casino in the Big Four Building, so it kind of has a second home feel for me whenever I'm down there. There's a great ice cream shop, breakfast restaurant and Vietnamese restaurant close by that you should visit if you haven't already. Oh, and don't forget your camera because you'll definitely get some amazing pictures from the hillside.
Gorgeous views of downtown overlooking the stampede grounds. The whole area is designated an off-leash dog park. It's a great spot as long as your dog has good recall. My dog is reasonably good and learned quickly to stay within the fenced boundary. There is a low fence with a cable which acts as a guideline for the edge of the park but is not a barrier to prevent dogs going onto the road. There is often at least one other dog at the park. Even though it's an off-leash park, it's a popular spot for those without dogs to come and take in the views.
This is the spot to be at if you wanna see the skyline of Calgary as it’s very easy to access with ample parking space! As a tourist, this was a must visit for us and we loved walking around the area during day time and at night. I think it’s a perfect spot to have picnics during summer. You can take the stairs to go down the hill as well. We weren’t able to catch any sunset as it was very cloudy on the day we visited but I can imagine that sunset would be spectacular from this lookout ☺️
Excellent location for a view of the entire city. Beautiful at night time, well worth the trip. Lots of benches, a clean area, and some pathways that head down to the stampede grounds and allow access to the core. Inglewood borders behind you, and to the left looking towards the city center is the industrial sector. Which has a ton of jobs available. If you follow the path down and around with your car you will meet the cemetery and the train station is a stone's throw away.
Amazing place. The houses there must feel like million bucks waking everyday to a view like that. I took the flights of stairs up from the stampede to the hill and was not expecting to see the that kind of view from the top. You can see the city skyline, the Saddledome, and the incredible rockies. The park is also clean, and there are benches for you to sit on and just observe. Incredible!
Best place in city to watch stampede fireworks. The hill is situated just south of stampede park and offers the best view of fireworks during stampede. Apart from this, this has "off-leash" area for dogs and the views are amazing. Surrounded by many breweries, this is really good option for exercise & walk for any day. Even the neighbourhood is also very nice which makes this place unique.
This is one of the best places to get a great view of the Calgary downtown skyline. Another great place is at Crescent Heights (not sure if that's the actual name for it). At Scotsman's Hill, you can see the skyscrapers, Saddledome, and Calgary Tower. It's perfect for picnics, walks, and chilling. Also be sure to check out the cool houses along the path as some of them are very unique!
This is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places to enjoy a sunrise or sunset. You get full view of downtown and amazing views. This is also one of the best places to see fireworks. The place doesn't get crowded with people, so get to enjoy a In peace. Lovely location even if you are just visiting Calgary.

This place offers a great view of the Calgary skyline and the Saddledome. The park looks like a nice play to relax but there is no legal place to park your car around here as it is a residential area unless you park further away and walk. Anyway the view is picturesque and its windy. Definitely worth stopping to enjoy the view even if it is for short while.
Minus the mosquitoes that were on a rampage, the place is peaceful and very beautiful. A good scenic spot to just sit and take in the beauty of downtown Calgary and it's skyline. Not much of a walking stretch and easy to reach with transit. Mesmerising late in the evening as the sun sets across and the city lights up at night. Definitely worth a visit..
It's not a bad place to go to, as long as you have a car to get there. Great place to watch the fireworks for stampede if your into that kind of thing. But other then that there's not much else you can do. Most people go there and stay in their car then drive off to where ever people go these days. As for walking, there isn't much to walk to really.
I love going to Scotsman's Hill to grab photos of the skyline or to relax and take in the view! It's a beautiful area and is a "hidden" asset in Calgary. There's usually not many people on the Hill and there's lots of parking on the side of the road. Also, there's a set of stairs (~6 minute walk down) to reach the pathways by the river.
A beautiful view of downtown only a few minutes from the core itself. Very accessible by foot/bike/car. Big staircase is a great alternative to McHugh bluff for exercisers looking to get in some elevation training. If your preference is hills instead of stairs, you can run up 6 St SE from the south or Bellevue Ave SE from the north.
So happy to see different Tipis from the members of Canada's First Nation and getting and seeing a glimpse of their wonderful arts, craftsmanship and culture. I am honored to stand beside one of the members of the First Nations and seeing closely how beautiful her native dress is. It is so intricate and colorful.
Grassy park area with benches and amazing views of Calgary. Stairs go down the hill to a bike and walking path near the Elbow River. The path, stairs, and hill are accessible during the Stampede if you exit on the North end of Elbow River camp by the big metal teepee. Worth the walk for the views.
If you are wanting one of the best city core views, you need to find your way here. There are benches to just rest and take in the views or you can conquer the stairs and path down. Definitely a go to location for visitors and residents alike.

Best spot to watch the fireworks during stampede hands down. Plus really just a great spot to check out the city. Best view point of the saddledome and you can even see the (small) Calgary tower in the shot! Def a good spot to check out if you are new to Calgary or have lived there forever.
This is a great place to view Calagary downtown skyline. There are street parking available. You can view saddle dome stadium. Also there are couple of benches where you can sit and enjoy city view.

Amazing view of downtown and Stampede park. Best to visit after sunset to see gorgeous skyline of Calgary and illumination in Stampede Park. Best place to watch Stampede Fireworks. Only weekend and holidays it gets busier and sometimes hard to find perfect spot for parking.
Great workout, we spent almost 3 hours going up and down the stairs. We also found a steep dirt pathway to sprint up. Great cardio experience with a beautiful view of the city. Added bonus, lots of friendly dogs!!

Had a great morning bonding with my SO on this hill. Spectacular view of the city and mostly the East Village area. Fresh, crisp morning air, beautiful views and a calm surrounding area. What a wonderful place to spend the first morn hours of a Sunday weekend.
Great view of the Calgary skyline! It's in a neighbourhood so there's no actual parking lot but there's plenty of street parking available around! There's a lot of benches as well which provides a tranquil view to watch and look at the City of Calgary!
The best spot for Calgary skyline if you want with Scotiabank Saddledome. My personal favourite hobby is capturing skyline of every city I visit and it couldn’t get better in Calgary from this spot. It’s a good hike if you’re not driving. It’s amazing!
One of the best place you can see Calgary's skyscrapers!! :) I was there a but early but if you go there after sunset, you would see a great night down town view! Highly recommend for couples, family and a dog owners!!(It's off leash zone)
Amazing view point especially at night. I was with my family and it was very beautiful and clean place to relax and look across the Calgary city line.

Great view of the Calgary skyline. Parking is a bit hard to find but it's worth finding for the scenic view. There are also pathways and stairs to get here on foot. Would definitely recommend for a trip to Calgary or a park picnic.
Love this area! Beautiful views of the city and mountains. It's close to the Stampede grounds too for added scenery. Lots of parking and there's benches to have a sitdown. I often go here with some food and just take in the view.
First time being at this location and it was awesome! Over looks Stampede Park and city centre. I'm sure at night it glows beautifully Excellent spot to sit and visit while overlooking a small piece of Calgary …

This is definitely one of the best places to get great views in Calgary. It always looks peaceful and serene. It's pretty hard to see the Elbow river from here, very well, but you can mostly, if you just walk down the Valley.
Great perspective of Calgary's skyline! There isn't a designated parking area because it's in a community. There are several seats as well, which offers a peaceful vantage point to observe and gaze at the City of Calgary!
Probably one of my favorite views in the city. Now, with the new announcement that they are looking to tear down the Saddledome I highly recommend getting a beautiful picture of the city's downtown area sooner than later
It was a Canada day, and I enjoyed Calgary fireworks show there. Was wonderful a 30 min non-stop fireworks show.

Amazing views for walks along the ridge and house viewing. Perfect place for the fireworks but go super early. Parking is atrocious. Clientele around there may be a little off some times but just be aware.
Perfect place to watch sunset in Calgary. You can see the entire skyline backlit by the sun with the Rockies in the background. There a lot of street parking available but no public washrooms available
Extremely beautiful place to watch downtown buildings especially Calgary Saddledome, fireworks or sunset ....

Awesome place to hangout and take in fresh air! Amazing views and one of the best spots to take photos in Calgary. I would recommend parking on a side street as parking enforcement comes by often.
Plenty of parking nice and quiet area with a beautiful overview of Calgary skyline, list of benches and trash cans around - common place for bird watching, dog waking, picnic and sight seeing.
Nice walking path with an excellent view of the city and mountains. Nice new benches for sitting. During the Calgary Stampede it's a favourite spot to enjoy the fireworks every night at 10pm.
Always an amazing view of downtown, and some nice improvements have been made in recent years which just add to the enjoyment of this park.

Beautiful view of the saddledome and city skyline. There are a few benches you can sit on. Only downside is they have "no parking" signs everywhere, so when its busy its hard to park close.
One of the best view for whole Calgary downtown. Recommend timings are sunset and night skyline view.

Stunning view from there over the city of Calgary. We had an amazing time with clear skies and good visibility which allowed us to even see the Rocky Mountains in far distance.
Stunning views of downtown Calgary. Very quiet and charming, and a wonderful spot to take pictures. We went close to sunset and it was honestly spectacular. 10/10 recommend

It's an amazing place to watch fireworks!!!! But also a nice view overlooking Stampede ground and downtown. Just a little small and right in front of private housing.
It's nice, good place to view the city and the Stampede if it happens to be early July . Ride your bike up here and you'll have no traffic or parking problems …

Always a great spot to take in the view and a great sunset watching area. Can be crowded during nice weather or Stampede but is well worth the stop.
As an off season destination the area has things to offer. We took in the sights and swore we could still heard the cheering crowds of the Stamped.
Scotman’s hill is located at the Ramsey community, east of Elbow River. A must visit and best lookout place in Calgary. Absolutely STUNNING view.
This is one of the cool spots in Calgary to get fantastic skyline shots. If you get there at sunrise or sunset, then you’ll be rewarded! …
Amazing views, stunning locale, feels like another country. Photogenic scenic spot to get brilliant snapshot through day, night, year round..
One of the best spots to get great pictures of the city skyline. Sunset over the mountains is a particularly great time to take photos here.

Great spot for viewing Calgary's downtown core, with great angles of the Bow, Calgary Tower, and the Saddledome in the foreground.
Iconic views of downtown Calgary can't be beat. There's even parking available up top. I'm sure it would be even better at night.
