Good to see this former theatre and Skate Arena transitioned and reopened as a cinema house. Features three cinemas that are decked out with lovely looking leather chairs. Unfortunately there chairs barely recline. The foot raisers only elevate your legs a small amount and for me not enough to feel much comfort. The maximum position was quite uncomfortable after a time as all the pressure was left on my lower back target than an equal roll back to a relaxing position. Cinemas are up stairs and toilets downstairs so if you need to go during a movie be prepared. Also downstairs are the bar and coffee service. On our visit the staff seemed a bit confused and unclear about procedures and prices etc as the centre had only been opened a few weeks. Hopefully this will resolve. Things like prices on all foods for sale eg ice creams and getting drinks or food delivered to your seat. We didnt know this was available until someone (after two trips out of the cinema herself) was offered a delivery! There are some bar stools and tables for eating or having a wine or coffee before or after movies. There is a short snack style menu e.g..wedges. The decor is great featuring street art as was typical of the building prior to the revamp into this very pleasing and unique cinema house. Will return hoping they will screen some of the more off beat movies too.

Air-con uncharacteristically balmy, the mood music non-existent, the only sound is the mouth-breathing of the boomers who mysteriously sit next to me in an otherwise empty cinema; the wife muttering not-so-quiet discontentments to a more than exhausted husband, his every expression laboured under years of sexual repression. The cinema prescribes itself to the malignant philosophy of assigned seating, the most authoritarian of impositions. If we cannot organise ourselves into rows how are we solve climate change, neigh, survive as a species? The question pings around my anxious mind as a single bead of sweat rolls down my cheek. A curtain, traditionally used to seductively frame the screen, now festoons the bespoke exposed-concrete floor with as much grace as a used and jilted lover. The experience is distinctly Lynchian. The staff shuffle around the complex with their own quiet miseries; working as we all must, like mules. Wes Anderson is Wezzing all over the place, shamelessly and without prompt. He wezzes on the ceiling and he wezzes all over my face, Tom Hanks just stands there laughing at me and Wes shrills with glee. He is lost. Adrift in the chasm of his own canon. Like a shrimp in a bisque of his own concoction. Peanut M&M's are $9. The name, a misnomer. 2 stars.

The cinema is very nice. Love the decor, kind shabby chic. More intimate than other huge cinemas. Large, very comfortable seats made of some leather or leather like material. Not plush, so they're easily cleaned, small tables for food and cup holders. Electric driven recliner and foot rest. The food is just okay not great. I would have preferred a nice restaurant meal. There's no prices listed on the menu. Came to $130 for the 1 starter 3 meals, 3 desert's. 2 soft drinks and a glass of white. Parking can be a problem. The open air carpark next to the cinema needs to be bigger with a ticket entrance to be validated for cinema patrons. It is always full. If you were able to get there just as one lot of patrons were leaving it might be okay. I think we might try getting there for the movie start time next time. The car park might have some spaces then. It's in the Lang Park area. We have always been when there were no Lang Park events on. Still, I like the walk from the street parking. Wear walking shoes. I think if they were able to build a multi storey, even just 2 level, parking, they could make money charging none patrons for parking.

My partner and I went to the movies last night for date night and seeing as I grew up around the area and spent a lot of my childhood school holidays at Skate Arena, I wanted to check it out. The movie itself was great, but the service and food was well under par. We arrived at 7pm for an 8pm movie with tickets I’d booked online. We ordered the “Oven baked pizza” for $27 and the karage chicken for $15, at that price the food would want to be pretty good. I ordered the food for straight away so we could eat dinner, our food could settle, and we could enjoy some chocolate and lollies during the movie. The place was pretty quiet for a Thursday night I thought, there was two couples already eating when we arrived. We were told our food wouldn’t be long. 40 minutes it took for our over cooked, over priced mediocre pizza to come to our table with “karage” chicken, which was nothing more than pre made frozen battered chicken. The food was bland and not very tasty at all. One star for the movie which was great. Poor food and poor service. 1/5 stars.

In the nicely redone space that was once a roller-skating rink, and then sat as a tattered shell of itself for many years, this spacious, chilled-out cinema tucks all the boxes if you want big seats, real coffee and even some excellent beers (and a great ginger beer) on tap. Join the Star (members/loyalty) Club to drop adult tix to $12 straight away -- this card is also valid at partner theaters New Farm Cinemas, Elizabeth Picture Theatre and Regal Twin Graceville. It also gets you discounted candy bar combos. Parking info.: Enoggera Terrace has metered spots, which can be full-up at busy times. The cinema has its own parking lot along Musgrave Rd. -- you can only access it from Mannion St., a little sidestreet behind the cinema block. Tip: You can only access Mannion St , which is a "no through road," if you are driving outbound on Musgrave Road, so have a look at a map beforehand. Finally, the parking lot entrance has a short, steep embankment as you enter; take it slow, and low, sporty cars may bottom-out. Enjoy.

Terrible experience. We booked online for a gold class evening for our anniversary. We both wanted a nice night and made sure that it was noted as gold on the website. When we arrived we were told that our booking was for a standard cinema and we couldn't have meals brought in. The staff could not possibly have been less interested and dismissed our concerns. The shorter, blonde girl was positively rude. Given that we had paid online we went into the movie with a dinner of Twisties for our anniversary. We did manage to get some wine but our choices were not available and the wine we ended up with was poor quality and a ridiculous price. Far from the night we had planned.

  • J H

A great new edition to the Five Star Cinema Group. Really good ambience. Love the graffiti throughout the complex. We were in the gold class theatre. Super comfortable electric seats. Screen and sound excellent. Recovering from surgery and on a special diet so I couldn't eat or drink anything so can't comment about food and my husband only had a beer. Free off street parking in the vacant block on the corner of Waterworks and Enoggera Roads. Note the entrance is off Waterworks Road. The food shops directly opposite look really interesting. Only negative there was a bit of noise from the adjoining cinema and the kids about to watch Frozen II.

  • Nick

Below average cinemas! Ticket prices were Expensive for what you get! Seats recline but not the backs. They have crammed too many seats into the one cinema, my feet were on the head rest of the seat in front of my and there was no room for someone to walk past. The cinema sound was terrible. Seats were comfortable but having the seat not recline at the back was a let down! Over priced food, I paid $7.70 for a Pepsi and saw a small popcorn was $9 with no combos or anything! The Bathrooms were unisex....there was a tampon on the floor of my cubical and wouldn’t like to know what the ladies get to find. Won’t be returning back to this cinemas!

I had such an amazing experience at Red Hill Cinema I cannot recommend it enough. I was served by a young lady named Freya, who worked with a smile on her face and positively engaged with all the customers despite the busy and stressful circumstances and another young girl named Jess who also made our experience more enjoyable. My husband and I watched The Equalizer 3 in one of the gold glass cinemas, we ordered two ham and cheese toasties and a couple of glasses of wine which were delicious! Thank you to the staff for making this experience so special. Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. 5 stars, will definitely be coming back!

  • Ally Darrell

Visited in opening week to see the restoration. I was really impressed! Ticket value is spot on and will definitely see me coming back for more. Seats recline and foot rests come up to about 45degrees. Exceptional value at $10. Not perfectly designed for the recline of average to tall kind of person. At 5'7" I had to bend my knees to avoid having them awkwardly on the back of the chair in front of me. This didn't really bother me but my neighbour had to angle out to the isle being over 6ft. You can order food to be delivered to your seat. Will definitely recommend and be back myself :)

  • Brisbane Horror Film Society

We simply must commend the amazing efforts of Dan & his team for the amazing service, vibe & presentation of the cinema. The Arcade style open plan setting is perfectly complimented by the decor & well picked art work. We have been hosting our monthly horror film screenings here now for several months and we (as well as our members) are more than impressed with cleanliness, amenities and of course the wide range of food & beverage options. We love the fact that you can also get Italian delivered from a great local restaurant. We cannot recommend this venue enough!

  • zach radman

Cinema was nice and as average an experience as any other cinema. I can understand its an easy place to go to catch up with friends, have a drink and then go watch a move. The place had a real nice rustic look to it. But god damn was the food over priced. 17 bucks for the smallest arancini balls you could think of served in a paper tray with a side of aoili even smaller than the balls themselves. Like I know its dark in there but did you think we wouldn't notice? The pumpkin fries are okay, but also for 17 bucks? Hmm idk man

  • Matt Price

Very disappointed really. Attended tonight and arrived 10mins before the movie started. The cinema was full however was not cleaned at all from the movie before so we had to clean our own seats. Cinema 1, at lease, is too small! The recliner tilts however your legs are pushed into the seat in front. It also makes no room for the food to get down the row of seats without inconvenience to everyone else. Just bad designing! It’s such a shame as local resident. Will not be attended in future as better off at Newmarket cinemas.

  • Ryan Williams

Never order food from red hill cinema. We ordered a pizza for dinner which never came. The guy at the front desk said “sorry this has been happening a lot lately”. By the time the movie had finished there were no restaurants open. What was worse than the food not showing up was the service when we complained. He offered a refund for the pizza and a voucher to go back that can’t be used on the weekends? Really poor service. If you do chose to go to red hill cinema absolutely make sure you eat before hand.

  • Amjad Safa

It seems to have been a theatre before they convert it to a cinema house. Seems like Hollywood is winning over conventional theatre arts. The cinema feels fairly newly renovated. Chairs are amazingly comfortable (gold class, semi recliners) and seems like refreshments are all allowed. The sound system is great despite how the cinema house looking simple. I arrived a bit late thinking maybe the advertisements will take some time. Obviously, I was wrong. Overall a very pleasant experience.

  • Pauli M

The cinema itself is great. Intimate, yet roomy. Very comfortable with brand new power reclining seats. The staff are friendly and efficient. They're quite engaging unlike Palace James Street where the staff are incredibly condescending and frankly quite rude. The food however, was another story. I guess it is a cinema and I shouldn't have expected much but the food was well below standards. I wouldn't want to order a meal there again unless it consists of soft drinks and popcorn.

  • Theresa

Love the atmosphere. The combination of grafittis and modern decors are great. The recliner seats in the Gold cinemas are very comfortable. The screen & sound are also great. They bring the food & drinks (not included in ticket price) to your seat. The food sometimes take a while to arrive, so if you're hungry, better get some snacks as well. There is parking area in the vacant lot next to the cinema, but it's limited. There's some off-street parking, but can be limited too.

  • Paul Hope

Modern, comfortable cinema in a fantastic older building complete with graffiti art and other quirky features. There is some dedicated off-street parking accessed from Musgrave Road (heading out of the city), once that is full you need to find a spot on the local roads. There's a good range of food and drink, brought to your seat in Gold Class. Seats are comfortable and the theatres well angled so you can easily see over the head of anyone sat in front of you. I'll be back.

  • gemgallo1

I have been to this cinema several times. Today I bought 2 tickets for a matinee (new Matrix movie). I bought 2 tickets from the girl at the counter and paid for them by card. After paying for them I realized the girl had incorrectly charged me the wrong price. I asked for a refund, and was told she couldn't do it. I wasn't even offered an equivalent value snack. Just move on I'm busy. It's a shame that small thing spoil what would otherwise have been a nice break.

  • Dianne

We had a great experience here. There's a bar to relax before your movie. We were there on a Friday night and there was live music. The food wasn't too bad, although there is a lot of deep-fried food on the menu. The seats in gold class are really comfy and recline a decent amount, although my partner couldn't recline his too far as his feet would hit the chair in front. They serve food and drinks to your seat throughout the movie. We'll definitely go back!

  • Karla “Queen Vadelle”

What a beautifully restored venue... paying tribute to the bare bones of Brisbane yesteryear.... Arcade style, open and breezy seating area which stimulates nostalgia with placement of 80s Arcade games, decor and colourful and beautifully presented wall art. The theatre itself was clean, spacious, with table service and recliner chairs. My experiences here was pleasant and believe small local theatres and businesses should be supported by their community.

  • Vanessa Bennett

I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately I was disappointed…so much so I will not be returning. Don’t waste your money purchasing premium seating (food and beverage service) for evening sessions - the kitchen will likely be closed - this was my experience on a Saturday evening at 8:30 pm. (Nothing on the website states food and beverage service runs between certain hours, which is misleading.) I’m terms of prices, it’s on the higher side.

  • Sammy Price

Fab experience couldn’t fault it. Me and my partner saw The Batman in the Gold room, lovely big recliners with tables for food and drink. We pre-ordered pizza, chips and a sundae, pizza was delicious and all came out at perfect timing with a 20 minute break in between the mains and dessert. Recommend this funky cinema and will definitely be back for another date night!

  • C Z C

Been meaning to go for so long, and once I finally went I was more than pleased with my experience. The cinemas are so comfortable and intimate, at such a great price point. It's a relic watching a film in the building that was once an old theatre, and skating rink, I absolutely loved their service, as well as their other locations. Will return definitely!

  • Emmanuel Schweitzer

Gold Cinema seats are fantastic and watching the movie was a really enjoyable experience. Staff is friendly and popcorn was quite alright but I would stay clear of other food items — it’s certainly a matter of taste but even for cinema food with lower expectations, I found the chicken karage mediocre and the squid shockingly sub-par.

  • George Gershwin

Most impressed with very comfortable electric control recliner seating. However, not impressed with hearing the sound from a different movie in an adjacent theatre. While enjoying your movie, it's distracting to hear the sound from another movie next door. A new cinema complex should have better sound insulation between theatres.

  • Alan ward

This is a good venue for movie going. The front bar has a nice ambience. You can have a coffee or a beer and watch the world go by on Enoggera tce. Then watch a movie in their comfortable seating along with your drink. No chance of anyone's head getting in the way too. And a good sound system. Full Marks.

  • Leanne Wenzel

Cinema and seating was great. Food was extremely poor. Frozen food, deep fried and charged a lot for it. It was served in a takeaway container with no cutlery. Cups of tea served at the wrong time and in takeaway cups as well. We were in gold class. Not really good enough. Will not be eating there again.

  • Craig Robinson

Best cinema in Brisbane. Super comfy electric recliner seats.. large screens with the best HD quality I've seen in a cinema. Only cimplaint is the set up when your arrive to get your ticket and pop corn etc...it's too small, people push in.... it ruins the experience.. please work out a way to fix this.

  • Peter Eades

Like the New Farm and Elizabeth Street locations a great place to go watch a film. Friendly staff and great sound and projection. Perhaps not quit as attractive as the other two locations though the renovation of the old Skate Rink has been done in a way that preserves what could be saved.

  • Trevor Galbraith

Wonderful local cinema with retro architecture and interior designed foyer with ultra modern, extremely comfortable seating. Top it off with great surround sound, scrumptious menu, and warm and friendly staff. We are so lucky to have access to this gem of an experience in Red Hill …

  • Martin Leonard

We were in the Gold seating which wasn't really set up well for the service it offers, there isn't much room for food and drink delivery between the rows of seats. But the seats were comfortable and the food and drink good for the price. The ticket prices are very cheap currently.

  • Russell Morgan

This is the second time I've been there and the movie was so loud my family had their fingers in their ears and the air con was not working. Again I told the staff there and they just shrugged again. I really want to support small cinemas but seriously they are making it hard.

  • Adam Hardy

I've been looking forward to this cinema opening since I heard it was being built - I wasn't disappointed! It's got a great feel to the place, seats are massive and super comfy electric recliners. Can't comment on food but everything else was great. This place is my new local

  • Damian Bowden

Love what they’ve done with the old skate arena! I was disappointed to see that they had no social distancing with the seating, which other cinemas I go to have! Tiny hallways, foyer, stairwell…. Covid is still a big concern so I’ll avoid this complex next time unfortunately!

  • Marty

What an awesome local cinema, so glad they’re finally open! Great snack bar, many beers on tap to choose from, tasty popcorn and food options and clean comfy air conditioned premium cinemas! Everything you could want for a great night out! Give it a go, we loved it!

  • Person

The worst and the rudest customer service by young mean boys and girls. Guys, you aren’t better than anyone else, chill =) Also the sound pollution is crazy, you can’t relax while watching the movie cause you hear everything from the next hall Will never come back

  • Adam Buchanan

Great place. I like that they kept some of the original building structure and vibe. Gives a unique feeling and sense of local history. Seems like they champion AUS films and alternate cinema. I like this place better than Palace. Good beers on tap. Comfy seats.

  • Melissa Trujillo

I love this cinema. The staff super nice, service is good with good beer and food options, and the ambiance is cozy and relaxing. The seats are very comfy, sound is great and the rooms are not too big so everyone has a chance to get good spots.

  • Tim Crase

I really like the vibe of this place, they have really thought about their clientele and tried hard to deliver across the board. It's not a glitzy modern type establishment but it's clean and functional and bespoke. It feels like they care.

  • Virginia Loraine

Just been to Red Hill cinemas for the 1st time, very impressive, Gold Class at $12 a ticket. Soft seats that recline, food and drinks bought to seat before movie, tables to rest drinks, really cool vibe snd latest movies. Highly recommend.

  • Nath Merry

Fantastic, clean and comfortable venue that I utilised for a private function on the weekend. Daniel and the staff were incredibly friendly and made it overall an incredibly smooth and positive experience. Would highly recommend to others.

  • Alan “Sheeps” Scheepers

Pretty decent cimema- but noise pollution and light pollution from the other cinema screens detracts from the quality of the build. Me thinks it is lack of proper planning or interior design - but all in all - not a bad cinema to go to.

  • Christopher Marinko

Been here many times, comfortable seats and pizza delivered from the pizzeria next door. Sells wine, beer and all the confectionery you would expect. The seats do not decline, but there are button which allows you to raise the legs up.

  • Charlie McGarian

Best cinema ever!! Really qwirky place with cool graffiti everywhere. Great bar, snacks and food. The best bit by far though are the super comfy leather automatic reclining seats! I'm never going to another generic cinema chain again!

  • Heather Groves

We had organised an event in the private cinema and it could not have been more perfect! Thank you so much to Lee and the team for being so helpful, patience and fun. I cannot recommend Red Hill Cinema highly enough - we will be back!

  • Taylor Johnson

Great little cinemas with lost of class! Will definitely be coming back. Side note if you don't like the smell of certain foods be aware that food is brought into the cinemas thruout the movie, lady beside me had a funky pizza haha

  • Lee Nolan

We were so excited to visit the long awaited Red Hill cinema on the weekend. Super comfy seating and good snack and drink selection. The actual renovation couldn't be more perfect ... the new owners should be very proud. …

  • Peter Oxenham

Had a great night at the movies with my wife. We had pizza, wine and choc tops delivered right to our seats which was great. The pizza arrived later than expected but when it did come it was delicious. Will definitely go back.

  • Laura James

We attended Red Hill Cinemas tonight for the first time in several months. Great, attentive customer service and the theatre had very comfortable recliner seats. We will definitely be back to our local for another movie soon.

  • Chase McAlees

Smaller than most cinemas but they make up for it with amazing service and a grate selection of food and drink, I felt like I was at home I was so comfortable in gold class. Well worth the money and I will back next week

  • Liv M

Love having these cinemas in the neighbourhood! Great staff, comfy seats, yummy food! Making for a great overall experience when going to the movies. Sticking it out through these cover times and doing an amazing job!!

  • AJ Nutting

Not just a great cinema, with Gold Class service at a reasonable price, and great food and drink options. Also a converted classic roller skating rink that has preserved the character of this iconic Red Hill location.

  • Zach B

The reclining seats are so close together that they don't go up far, and if you're relatively tall like me then your feet will hit the seat in front of you. Great staff and facilities though, will likely come again.

  • Orla C

This has got to be one of the coolest decors for a cinema! The atmosphere on a Saturday night here is fantastic! I went Gold class and literally melted into the seat. Very reasonably priced for a Saturday night too.

  • Taylor Nt

Theatres/screens are huge, super comfy seats and it’s a really nice vibe. Only downside is the theatres are FREEZING. Like next level. I almost had to leave mid movie cause I was shivering with a huge sweater on.

  • Raul Perez

Clean seats and rooms, very comfortable and affordable gold room tickets. The cinema has a very small, homey feeling rather than overly commercial. The food and snacks are also reasonable (for cinemas anyways).

  • Mikaela Duffy

We visited our new local cinema for the first time last night - very impressed with the theatres & the electronic recliner chairs! Sound system great too - will definitely be back, and recommend to others :)

  • Michael Pratt

Great reinvention of the old skate site. Good beer on tap. Comfortable electric button leather recliners. Sound and picture were great. Hot chips were only so-so but popcorn was good. Will be back for sure!

  • Elleisa Schloss

A go-to date night for us. The seats are super nice and comfortable. The food and drinks delivered to your seat during the movie is great. The customer service is also really good. Highly recommend.

  • Kaz Jam

Seats were comfortable, the screen did not seem as big nor the sound quite the same as the bigger chain cinemas. Was not bad. Just wasn’t my cup of tea. Oh well you have to try different places.

  • Mansory_

It is a really good cinema! The prices are a little higher than other cinemas but the service is really good and the seats are really comfortable. Went to watch Oppenheimer and I had a blast!

  • Dave Smith

Definitely Rate the place! You wanna check out flicks, old school Proper Style? This is The place to be. Good young crew selling liquor and everything else you need. Best inna inner West. D

  • Nicola Duncan

Loved our first outing to Red Hill Cinemas! Super comfy seats for $12, lovely wine and fresh popcorn. Well done - I know it took a long time to get this off the ground. Definitely worth it.

  • Kyra

Great price for movies in Paddington/Red Hill area. Cool industrial rustic feel inside, love the gold class movie seats and side tables. Snacks were tasty and bevvies always welcome.

  • Chontell Johnson

Great service and awesome food. The cinema seats are incredibly comfortable and the temperature is perfectly set for comfort. Great job Red Hill -Five Star Cina, we'll be back.

  • markymark3au

Our daughter had her 16th birthday party at Red Hill Cinemas last Friday night. The staff were incredibly helpful and the kids really enjoyed the whole film / party experience.

  • Dino Willox

I love this little cinema. Great seats, tasty food, staying selection of films. Very short sounds bleed between screens, but totally forgivable for the overall experience.

  • Peter Grimshaw

Seats are comfy, delivery of food to your seat is great. Range of food and drinks is a bit limited and lacks some lighter, healthy options. Good place to go to the movies.

  • Hugh Rose-Miller

This place is fantastic. The most comfy chairs I've used in a cinema, great popcorn and very cheap tickets. Very convenient and enjoyable. I'll definitely be coming back.

  • nicky o'ryan

Totally cute cinema with so much character. Went for a themed song a long. Must go back! Great comfy seats and such a lovely atmosphere with engaging and friendly staff.

  • Donovan

Comfortable seats, clean and movie was great. Parking was a nightmare though, there is no layout its literally a free for all. Recommend getting an uber in if possible.

  • Wendy Barnes

2 out of 2 great experiences so far. Beautiful cinemas with the comfiest of chairs in the gold cinemas. The staff bring hot food and drinks to you. We had a great time!

  • Liam JB

The best non IMAX screens in brisbane! Love this little theatre. Plus today it seems the cinema was understaffed but the lady working was lovely and great to chat to

  • Randy Vellacott (randwar)

Great refurbishment. Nice selection of new and classic movies. Great ambience. Staff are friendly and it's on the next street over to me ... what more could you ask.

  • L.T Styles

Really enjoyed our experience, great pop corn, comfy seats, parking can be a little hard to navigate if you are not local. 4 stars because the food is a bit sub par.

  • Jane O’Brien

Great little cinema. Slow service on food though but highly recommended for those who like a smaller boutique cinema experience!! Parking - right next to building!

  • Kayden Atkinson

Great trendy cinema! Love the atmosphere and decor. Food is available to purchase, such as popcorn and drink, but also full dinner meals as well.

  • Adrian Howard

Amazing how they have developed such a run down building into this amazing cinema. Much more low key than your average cinema, but still awesome.

  • Joe Tiernan

We were lucky to screen our film at the incredible Red Hill Cinemas. Such a fantastic atmosphere and amazing staff. Thank you so much!

  • Andre Bonastre

Great cinema, nice, quiet, and very comfortable seating. The ticket price could be improved but overall very happy and will return.

  • Neon Blade

Awesome cinema. Great repurposing of the old skating rink. Excellent quality projection equipment. Great service. Love the murals!

  • Alex Daw

Another great little cinema that's not too crowded with people. Parking can be a challenge but persevere because it's worth it.

  • Brian Smith

Graffiti graffiti graffiti …. If your inner hipster dropped coffee and took roids this would be your cinema of choice.

  • Cavell Cooper

Wow! This is how cinemas should be! Gold seats, cold beer and good food along with an exceptional movie experience!

Red Hill cinema is housed in a historic skate rink. It supports independent films. Look out for the street art.
