Merthyr Village has come a long way. In recent times the underground car park was extended a bit and a lot of older shops were reshuffled to accommodate some new retailers. The type of shops can only be fairly described as "boutique" and that's probably due to space constraints. Eateries such as the Vue Cafe offer a good selection of food, drinks and DiBella coffee and the newsagents offer a full selection of newspapers, magazines, cards for all occasions and some stationary. Suncorp bank staff are friendly and helpful as are the folks at Australia Post. All About Fruit also has a good range of fruit and veg with a juice bar at one end. I've often enjoyed a pineapple juice or a banana smoothie there at the end of my weekly shop...

Merthyr Village Shopping Centre is a hub for the New Farm community in Brisbane, with a Coles supermarket and a range of specialty stores and professional and community service providers. It also has a variety of dining options, such as New Farm Deli & Cafe, The Smoke BBQ, Via Vai and Savour Cafe. You can also find a book store, a florist, a butcher, a pharmacy, a medical centre, a travel agency and more. The shopping centre is located at 85 Merthyr Road, New Farm, QLD 4005. It is open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm on weekdays, 7:00 am to 10:00 pm on Saturdays and 7:00 am to 9:00 pm on Sundays. You can park your car at the shopping centre's car park for free for up to 3 hours.

The shops are good but the centre is poorly run in my experience. The female toilets appear neglected, not clean and with poorly maintained fittings. There are no public seats or benches - a policy decision by the management - so not even a place to put your bag while you sort out your shopping. The “1 minute only” car spaces that are supposed to be for post office box access are often occupied by long-term parkers because the centre management doesn’t bother to enforce its own rules. This has been my local shops since the 80s but I shop there less and less because of this lack of commitment to customer service.

Most conveniently, the centre also offers a Justice of the Peace service twice a week & free parking! See what I mean?!

There's a great craft butcher there called, "Peter Augustus." I was after their amazingly authentic Sicilian sausages but they had none left & will phone me when more get made. Very nice helpful people there. The rest of the centre has the best deli & a cake shop that's stocked with works of art, they're so beautiful as well as delicious & super fresh. Their gf orange & almond cake is superb & the best I've ever had. Guests always oooh & aaah in delight when I serve it. Really the crème de la crème of suburban food & fashion finery. ❣❣❣

Great little shopping centre with a few nice cafes... A good sized Coles... Parking is not too bad depending on the time of day... After the recent fire the Brunswick Street car park is a bit hectic, but it seems they have recently employed a traffic controller 'Jim' who has made a HUGE difference & proved to be really helpful when I needed some navigation. All in all a great little place that has all the necessary stuff...

  • Nk Hnd

Plenty of great shops packed into one little centre with a Coles attached. All outside shops cafes, fruitshop, newsagents clothes and novelty stores. You should find all u need here. Plenty of parking. Parking under the centre or above parking. Has access for all, and parking for all seniors, pram or disability parking. With ramps to be able to get to car park under Coles. Top shops. Has public toilets here also.

Everything you need, all in the one place. With Coles, a fruit shop, a newsagent, a bakery, a deli, a bottle shop and the post office all in the one place - what more could you possibly ask for. There is also plenty of onsite parking with entrances on Merthyr Road, Brunswick Street and Welsby Street and there is a bus stop on Brunswick Street and another one on Merthyr Road with buses coming every 15-20mins.

Lots of nostalgia in this area, New Farm deli is THE place to be seen... " always has been" sensational place to dine, either for breakfast or lunch or just kick back with a friend and chew the fat over one of their wonderful coffees. Only downside is, it is always busy, but be patient! When you eventually get to sit down it's definitely worth it... seyadownthere......

  • JAMES ODONOGHUE

Wonderful assortment of high quality merchandise bearing shops! It very popular with the locals! The main anchor store is Coles but there a high quality butcher fruit shop chemist Gifts newsagent barber cafes and the famous new farm deli which I have reviewed recently in another post! If you are going there on weekends don’t forget to book in advance!!

My everyday shopping area Has special offers every wednesday till the end of the week Got everything you need, but not much in the electronic area The food are clean, new, high quality However, you might want to pay by credit card( the machine only accept credit card), as it usually gets pretty crowded here; have to wait for a long time to pay by cash.

  • Karen Clark

  • Judith Mellifont

I have recently changed my medical needs to the doctor's clinic at Merthyr Village. I am very happy with the service I have received and have every confidence in the doctor's there. They have their eye on the ball and thoroughly investigate symptoms with various tests and follow up. Would recommend them highly to everyone. Judith Mellifont.

  • Catherine Howe

A very busy little shopping centre. There are a variety of shops and specialists available including Coles, a doctor's surgery, a post office, a florist, a news agency, a fruit shop, a jewelry shop and several clothes shops. Plenty of covered parking. There is wheelchair access and amenities. Great place to access many services!

  • Michael Garrett

Lots of independent shops, food & coffee places all within an arcade. There are a few national / chain places (supermarket, banks and post office) also. The Italian deli is probably worth visiting Merthyr on its own. Great selection of hard to find Italian ingredients and also great food served in the cafe section.

  • Lorelei Baum

Mainly a good experience shopping here with the wonderful deli, gift shop, fruit shop, book shop, chemist and newsagent. Medical centre, Coles and other cafes are ok. Clothes shops have some interesting choices. Travel agency ok. Eyewatering prices at the butcher, we head to the alternative option close by.

  • GreekOzyGirl

Always a pleasure visiting Merthyr Village, clean & set out well & that fruit shop in there has some of the best fruit in Brisbane, also love the coffee shop & Coles the other variety shops are great too, friendly staff, just an all round great place to visit, have a bite to eat & do some shopping.

  • martin farmbrough

Merthyr village shopping ctr is excellent, great variety of traders coles being the major retailer. Experience the best of both worlds with a great shopping day undercover parking and many independent retailers surrounding the main village a variety of top quality restaurant's at reasonable prices.

  • Jake Z McDaniel

Beautiful shopping centre with both generic, affordable, fresh and sophisticated food shopping, a range of other interesting stores selling interesting things, all high quality retail businesses in a quaint little shopping centre. I can't wait to check it out properly when it is actually open.

  • Heirloom Rosary Studios

I LOVE their Lentil bread and so does everyone Around me. Its even stolen out of my fridge and enjoyed by my friendHer confession to me on coming in! Love their new European style breakfast donuts too. Ohla the light custard creme inside and the true chocolate pieces on top. YOU MUST TrY!

  • Paul Argar

One of our favourite eateries was in here. The NewFarm Deli. It was badly damaged by fire but will come back and be rebuilt. In the mean time support the locals here. There is another great eatery here and a really good bookshop and some other lovely stores. We will be back soon to visit.

  • Jamin Piggo

Great shopping centre with some good quality shopping and recently renovated stores. The overall centre could do with a slight facelift. Perhaps just a fresh look like James Street. Overall the stores and quality are great. The bookshop is awesome, as are the butchery and deli.

  • Shelly Shelly

Great little shopping village in New Farm. Very quaint with great cafes, chemist, dr surgery, deli, cool book shop and gift shop. Little florist is nice. Quite a few other little stores as well. Not very busy either. Good parking and access to public transportation is good.

  • Margaret Rowe

What a lovely wee shopping centre, cafes filled with diners indoors and outdoors. The deli looked amazing, the beautifully dressed window of an assortment of deli foods was so enticing unfortunately time was not on my side. Loved the layout of shops...quite different.

  • Adam Macks

Great small village atmosphere centre, with shops and delights scattered throughout a cosy nestled group of calm, delightful buildings including a supermarket, chemists, doctors, cafe’s, restaurants, gourmet butcher, travel agents and the famous Mary Ryan bookstore.

  • Gerdi Schumacher

....I like the Merthyr Village Shopping Centre, the Italian Deli is a great place to have breakfast and to shop for all the fine Italian foods.... the shoe shop Flerenze is excellent, very nice choice of good quality shoes at a very reasonable price..... thank you!

  • James Freeman

Great little shopping centre. Good range of quality merchants and boutique retail outlets. Great range of gourmet food outlets and the Coles and fruit shop are awesome although the fruit shop is very pricey. Perfect centre for the location. Will be back again

  • Areti Alexandrou

Great local mall with eclectic little shops and a village feel. Strangely you can get just about anything here which is a bonus. Some leading stores too (the deli, Coles), and a cute shoe store that sells lovely leather shoes - good Aussie brands if high quality.

  • Woobin

Despite the close proximity, the vibe is very different from Gasworks. It offers the feeling and the vibe of its own. I dare say, it is the perfect place for more mature patrons. Great butcher, several cafes, it certainly suits me well.

  • Garry Mcallen

Great little shopping precinct. Has huge Coles cafes and Newfarm Deli. Also get lotto and paper. Fresh bread store and fruit shop to check out prices before venturing into Coles. Parking out front and underneath. I always enjoy myself.

  • Mbriz _

Small shopping centre loaded with cafe, deli, fruit shop, pharmacy, bakery and many other shops. Coles here open till 9 pm in the weekend. There are JP service available on Saturday from 10 am to 2 on. Parking is free for 3 hours.

  • Steffy S

Nice little shopping complex in the New Farm area. From what I've been to, there is a Coles, a butcher shop, a fruit shop, cafés, and couple clothing stores. The car park is also free for 3 hours so that's another good thing.

  • Nikolaos Papavasiliou

Big fan of the local vibe. Parking can be hit or miss for convenience but there is ample space if you have the time. Good selection of chain markets, banks, and other, mixed with local retailers and the iconic New Farm Deli.

  • Wendy

Lovely little shopping village with a big Coles supermarket, two great independent bakeries, excellent fruitier, fantastic delicatessen, cafes and several other little independent stores. Free undercover parking is a bonus.

  • Ronald Ram

Lot of gourmet food stores for any food lover. Great upmarket shopping village with a great selection of tenants such as Coles and Australia post. Well worth a visit, but parking may be an issue due to tight parking spots.

  • Harry S

Great compact shopping place with warmth to it.Has everything pretty much needed and is always filled with hustle bustle and positive ambience. Gives you lot of local community feeling, which is great. Parking available.

  • Mandy Page

Such a lovely group of shops, my first visit there and realized everything I need weekly right in one spot. Customers as well as staff were all keeping social distancing with Covid and really polite and helpful thank you

  • Moya Tomlinson

It has most essentials: a supermarket, fruit and veg, bakery, deli, bottle shop, cafes, bookshop, post office, bank, doctors...and clean public toilets. Good public transport links and a City Cycle station. And parking.

  • Leigh Holman

I was not feeling well and i was waiting for my husband to pick me up. I could not find a seat to rest and wait for him. The first shopping village I have come to shop with no seats. Can someone shed some light on why.

  • Bonnie

Such a busy little shopping town, friendly staff at every shop I've ventured into. Broad variety however car parks are far and few between hence ticketys Jack up the council's back balance, and their not cheap !!

  • Palador B

Great little place to grocery shop, and grab a snack (and your mail and medications) Bus access almost to the front door but pedestrian access across the top car park dodgy and secure bicycle parking limited.

  • A. Lily “AJ” Saint-Laurent

Coles closed on time. So I had to buy some mango Weiss bars from the night owl. Also got some red cloud lollies. Highly recommend. It was my friends birthday. He does not recommend going again next year.

  • Penny F

Although I shop here often the shops are very expensive if you are not buying food. People with plenty of money frequent the clothes shops, but the restaurants are excellent and the food really good.

  • Kevan Wayne Jones

Parking and QR check-ins good. Timed underground parking with easy access to shops. Good range of shops with Coles as drawcard but designer shops that have great range of meats, cheese, and lotto.

  • Christine Andrews

We live walking distance to this shopping centre so I love how convenient it is. There is a doctor, dentist, optometrist, hairdresser, bakery, liquor store, post office, Coles, plus more.

  • Shaun Wang

This is a nice place to visit. Not only groceries, Not only nice restaurants but also performances. Please send this photo to the musician who played a beautiful piece today. 20-08-2022

  • D R Geraghty

Very busy shopping centre with a great variety of shops and postoffice. Also a popular Deli restaurant. Parking can be difficult. I go by bus and there are bus stops close to the area.

  • Elizabeth Hansen

I find this place expensive. Fruit n vegies are nearly double the price you pay elsewhere. But it has a few speciality shops for when you want something different. Nice for a change.

  • Virgil Burns

Merthyr village is a tidy little centre with lots of variety. It’s disappointing the coles here is more expensive than others but it’s always fresh because of the high turnover.

  • J T

Though it's 1.8km away, it's the nearest Coles from my place. I always take a slow walk there and back with my groceries. Large selection of fruits & vegetables and specials.

  • Bill Delaney

Friendly local small suburban shopping centre, Coles, grocer, speciality butcher, 2 bottleshops, barber, restaurants, nice coffee, pay office, medical what else do you need!

  • Raghav Abbhi

Nice little shopping area for the community. Good for a quick shopping trip at the supermarket as well. Local produce shops are there as well. Satisfactory variety of shops.

  • Saskia Gilmour

Easy parking and range of shops, including small businesses such as coffee shops, bakery, fashion outlets and gift/bookstores. Everything you need in a convenient location.

  • Jason Leung

Nice little open air local shopping centre with a great little deli and pharmacy. Parking is easy enough and there's under ground car parks for those got or rainy days.

  • D.R Geraghty

Nice area with good selection of shops and cafe including the Deli. Very busy sometimes. Car park bit on the small side but I use the bus and the bus stop is handy.

  • Aaron Francis

A better experience shopping here of your not driving. The car park is busy and slow. All of the shops here are undercover. I pleasent local shopping experiences.

  • Shaun Johnston

A great place for New Farm locals to shop and meet. A good variety of boutique stores and cafes, plus a deli, bakery, grocer, butcher, newsagent and supermarket.

  • Lorna Perry

Very handy for all residents of New Farm and Teneriffe . Supermarket, bottle shop, cafes , doctor , flowers gifts, Post office , clothes etc. Cosy and friendly .

  • Don Brackenreg

Good parking once you find it, my 4wd wouldn't fit in the underground car park. Coles is big for a suberban supermarket, and there is plenty of specialty shops.

  • Damien Malczewski

This place is awesome. Coles is the anchor store but there's everything from fresh fruit/vegetables store, butcher and cafes. Everything I needed in one place.

  • Michelle Carroll

The Italian Deli is to die for. Fantastic coffee and authentic produce is worth the trip. For a special cake try Dello Mano. Cut small pieces they are so rich.

  • Allen Edgar

Feel like a bogan with so many German and Italian cars and fencing me in. I only go to Coles and sometimes it's good and sometimes it is really really ordinary

  • Chi Chi

Merthyr Village is a good old fashioned neighbourhood shopping village; including fresh groceries (including a fruit and veg market) and even fashion stores.

  • Reece

Some excellent cafes and specialty shops. Only reason I rate three stars is due to the car park and the layout of the place. It's also cluttered and dated.

  • Jean Seah

A lovely bustling little mall. One hour parking available for customers in the complex; street parking also available nearby. Easy access via bus as well.

  • Alix Meyers

It's a nice place for you to take someone for a chat over a cup of coffee. Plenty of small business cafes, boutique clothing shops, & a great cheese shop.

  • Garry Mobbs

A large, spacious well layed out store. A pleasure to gather up ones needs. Nestled in Merthyr Village, it is almost a one stop shopping centre.

  • Simon Cooper

Smaller set of shops and restaurants- including a Coles. Quality is good, all around, and the Deli and Fruit and Vegetable shops are top notch.

  • Anish Philip

Good place to have a tea or buy some home special fruits and vegetables. The parking structure is not so good.Otherwise everything seems good.

  • Shayne Pascoe

Not to bad I was there for work demolishing the fruit market the parking there could be better other then that convenient …

Parking is a pain if you want to get in and out quick, but has plenty of shops including a bottleshop, fruit and veg, Coles and a Bakery.

Always a fun visiting this shopping centre. Still retains the old charm of yester year with some nice new additions. Will always return.
