I'm not sure I actually made it all the way in to MLK Park before I had to head back, but the ride was excellent. I am SO impressed and thankful for those whose wonderful visions of what the park systems connecting with each other would be like. And a big booyah to ALL whose contributions made the difference to an incredible dream. Sorry, I did not mean to get verklempt (SP?) People, if you've not taken advantage of our parks system, y'all are just missing out big time. Give it a try solo with friends, family, whatever. I see speedy bikes, three wheelers , tandems, four wheelers, inline skating, skaters, skateboarders, runners, joggers, walkers (ummm...the good kind). Sweet. The paths are clearly marked and the directions clear. It's just lovely this time of year, in spite of skimpy foliage. The quiet is enchanting.
Playground
At each individually connected park, restrooms are available. There are several picnic areas in each park and many have diamonds for sports.
Dog-friendliness
Several pick up pooches potty stations are located strategically and it's great when used properly to clean up after their four-legged family members. There are always many doggies out walking their humans and most of them have fine manners.
Picnic area
The picnic tables are nice and some are even in the shade.

Me and my family usually come to this park late at night and just hang out/ play around on the playground area. However, we came across an “issue” today. At about 1:05 am, a police officer (I’m assuming just patrolling the area to make sure nothing bad is going on) pulls up and tells us that we have to leave the park because it is “closed”. Not only does the park online say 24 hours, but there is no posted hours anywhere in the park saying when it “closes”. I will still be calling the city to clarify whether there actually is or isn’t hours of operation. If there is, I’ll try to suggest that hours be posted somewhere in the park and be updated online. If not, we will continue to use the park because it is a nice park to take the family, but I will require an actual explanation from any officer who tries to kick us out in the future.

*SPLASH PAD REVIEW looks nice, but is rarely open. Me and kids were excited for the splash pad to open this summer. When it did the whole community was there having a bast, kids come with their toys and lunch to cool off during the 100°+ days. But for some reason it's been closed more days than it's been opened. We come to this park almost every day and noticed it'll be working for a couple days then closed for like a week. Idk why, other splash pads in town don't have that issue...

With gentrification, the city has finally begun to pay attention to our beloved MLK park!! It's really beautiful out here since they cleared out the overgrown trees and brush. They added a small splash pad that could use a lot more than water shooting up... Old Pearsall Road has an amazing space. We'll like a few things like that added over here. The updated pavilions make it great for family fun days or places to take a break after riding the connecting trail ways.

Excellent experience after the Covid19 experience. I was glad to see San Antonio back on top with the most supporters of the Martin Luther King Jr March in the Nation over 400,000 strong and God Bless this City. have a blessed and beautiful day and stay safe %

This place is so spread out, so green, so foresty, so muddy. Well it's muddy because I gone to the park after weeks of rain. Still good though, it's so spacious and smells wonderful like I'm at the monte. Good place to run around, bring pets, picnic, lay down, bike, play. It has it all. Also for y'all who live picking up pecans, this is the place for you pecan lovers.

  • Cristina Harrison

My husband and I visited the park today for our great granddaughter's B-day party. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the park. It has plenty of trash receptacles. The easiesness of finding one's way and availability of parking spaces in the park makes it effortless to travel around. There are plenty of pavilions available.

  • K Rent

Loved the park but the city needs to do something about the fungicide taking over the trees ...save the trees, Hercules Hercules
Playground
They have several. Basketball courts.
Dog-friendliness
Your dog would love it.
Picnic area
Plenty of picnic areas

  • Sineamon T

Had a fun and exciting bike ride. It has several picnic areas. It is good place specially when lot of people use the park at the same time. Just wish it is longer or interconnected with Salado Creek Greenway which is very close to it. They just didn't connect it for some reason.

  • Zen Ryda

They added a new splash pad and 2 large restrooms and really convenient places... Also for any Pokemon go players there is at least one new gym and two new pokestops... Just be wary of the Park police there because even if you're not doing anything they have questions for you

  • Jennifer Martin

Large park with many amenities. You can take the kids or dogs for a fun day at the park. There's a splash pad, playground, grills, trails, and lovely large shade trees with Spanish moss growing on them. Spend your hot summer days here with friends and family

  • Butch Titus

Shade to escape the heat, water fountains, lots of free parking easy access to the bike trail. Always empty on week days. Picnic tables and grills are everywhere. Three pavilions to reserve for the party. An under utilized jewel on the east side.

  • Frank Fitzpatrick

I'm giving 5 stars, but honestly I would like to see more covered picnic tables with grills. The park is large, with lots of recreation facilities and right in the middle of the Salado Creek Greenway trail. It is well maintained.

  • Janie Diamond

I don’t often sit at this park I just use it as a shortcut to get to the other side of the area, it’s a direct drive without the stop lights and traffic. It’s not hard on the eyes, it could use some TLC, other than that it’s ok.

  • Jamie Hornback

Beautiful outdoor natural area. Lots of paved trails for waking/biking. Currently some new construction under way. Play ground is gone but newer and better may be under way with new construction. Can't wait to see what's coming!

  • Steve Atkinson

Nice park there working on the park is some parts but the park is looking really good had lunch over there subway on the pizza table not too many sugar ants but there was a couple because of the pecan trees

  • Anthony Whitt

Place is awesome but could use a little bit of updating or just fixing up a bit. But it's a nice park overall. Lots of different things to do and close to a lot of other interesting things SA has to offer.

Love it here as it is a big park, you can barbeque, play basketball, a playground for the kiddos and much much outdoor space if you want to play football or soccer with the kiddos.

  • Tramaine Blye

Great trailway entry point! Long paved path and it's covered nicely with just enough greenery to stay cool but not have you bugging out! Great for bikes, scooters or skates.

  • Tia

It's the middle of a 13 mile trail. I'd run from this park to either the golf course or Comanche park. Very heavily padded witg trees some little creeks not too clean tho.
