This location has become my one stop shop. Not only do I get a good workout in but I can also grab a quick bite or enjoy the amazing spa services. I'd like to first highlight the staff at this location. Everyone at the front desk is extremely kind and helpful, a huge shoutout to Ashley, Conor, Lea, Kira, Frankie and everyone at the front desk (apologies if I missed some names). Every time I come in you guys are super warm and welcoming! My experience has been extremely positive at this gym ever since they opened up. Emiliano who is the PT manager is super accommodating and always ready to help. Peter B. is my personal trainer and I can't say anything but good things about him. I've been training with him for a month so far and already see amazing results. I really enjoy working with him, for more info regarding my experience with him so far please check out my testimonial on the club's website. Next I'd like to share my experience with the classes offered at this location. I haven't tried all of them but GTX is by far my fave, and my favorite one at this location is led by Kailey on Thursdays and Saturdays! I also enjoyed taking GTX with Camilla, Jeff and Jesse, they are also awesome and make this class fun and challenging. Camilla's Alpha Conditioning class on Sundays is a great way to recharge for the week ahead. She is an excellent instructor, super knowledgable, and is always ready to help fix your form so you do the workouts correctly. I've also really enjoyed Mary O's GTX class but I've only attended her class at the Dumbo. I really hope they will start offering more classes throughout the week since it's tough to make some of them due to work conflicts or PT. There's only one GTX class on Saturday which I usually miss since I have PT. There aren't any all day on Sunday and then on Mondays it's only early in the morning or in the evening. This isn't a dealbreaker, just wish there were more options. This wouldn't be a complete review if I did not highlight the spa which I feel needs to be marketed more! I LOVE the spa at this location. Boehme is my go to esthetician and is super knowledgable about skincare. She does an incredible job with facials. She knows how to pinpoint the problems with your skin and offer the best medical grade solutions in the market. Ask for Boehme!! I've done a few facials with her so far and already notice a difference from her work and the products she requested I try. She also gives amazing massages...I feel so relaxed after. I also love getting my hair done by Shannon, she's truly an artist and does a flawless job with blowouts. Any time I have an event I know I can rely on her to give me a voluminous gorgeous round brush blowout (which can be very rare nowadays since I've noticed a lot of stylists only know how to use a wand or curling iron not everyone is a master at round brush). Bottom line there are top notch talented artists at the spa that need to be praised for their work. The only thing I would suggest is that spa tries to do more promos or loyalty programs for loyal members since this spa is open to members and non-members. For example a package for blowout with facial for members since folks like me like to get both done or some type of loyalty program with points..... just a suggestion but highly recommend it :) Last but not least, I would like to highlight the cafe. I felt it had a bit of a bumpy start due to long wait times and few other issues but it has improved a lot recently. The protein shakes are delicious and there's a variety to choose from. I also really like their turkey sandwich and BBQ quesadilla. The cafe has come a long way since they opened in September and I'm super proud of them. The staff at the cafe is super friendly and accommodating, a huge shoutout to Maurice for always being on top of it! Overall, I'm so happy I chose Life Time and highly recommend it for anyone not only for fitness junkies! In case I did not share this part, the gym is HUGE and never feels congested like other gyms. Check it out for yourself soon!
I'm one of the founding member for this club -- great free swag :D. It's phenonmenal.Perfect timing with their opening with my career start in sell side! The facilities are top notch, I love the staff -- super friendly and atttentive -- and even got a free orange juice after almost experiencing hallucination after overdoing a spinning workout. I always leave my stuff in the locker and run outside in Manhattan. Zero issues :) Just a minor thing -- would apprecaite if shower facilities are cleaned more frequently and check that all hygiene products are filled daily. Few times, one of the cans were empty. And the floor is often wet. I'm very hesistant to walk barefoot there. This happens with every public facility so it is understandable. I visited other sites in Manhattan and none matches the experience I have at this location. I also love the dumbo location (swimming pool). Just wish we had a cold pool to dip into at this location and as another reviewer said, a dedicated stretching area. Perphaps rearranging the equipment might solve the issue because I'm afraid of getting hit if I'm too close to someone. During off peak hours, I just use the alpha training zone to stretch / do core. Another small con is there isn't any sunlight going into the building but I mostly run outside so doesn't matter. All teachers are amazing. Coach D. and Alex are superb for spinning. The best part? You get acess to all other locations in USA. Lifetime Bridgewater is very close to my family's home and I always drive there to train. :) Same thing for Lifetime Princeton when I visit Princeton. BTW I look forward to Whole Foods opening right next door so I can head there after working out and go straight home with the groceries! 4.84/5 :)
This Lifetime location is hands down the best gym I have tried so far in Manhattan, with a comprehensive collection of machines, a clean locker room, and plenty of amenities. The gym is entirely underground and lacks windows, but you go to a gym to work out and not stare outside a window, so it’s not an issue for me. Some notable machines are the Hack Squat, V Squat, and even a Waist Squat machine. There are eight squat racks and plenty of cable/plate-loaded machines. This is the first gym that covers all my machine needs, and I can do any workout I want. Compared to Equinox, this gym has a much better selection of equipment The only problems I had were the lack of flat benches and the lack of a dedicated stretching floor. The weight room is massive and houses more than 15 treadmills but only has five flat benches. Also unlike Equinox, Lifetime doesn’t have a special stretching floor that’s softer than the lifting floor, so any form of stretching feels a little weird but not a deal breaker to me. This gym, to me, is worth the price tag since it checks off all the boxes for me. Highly recommend.
The facility is very new and all the equipment seems to be as well. It strays a bit from the standard Lifetime look & feel. The machines are thoughtfully grouped and are the same as the kind you would see in most of the Lifetime gyms anywhere in the country. There's a sauna but I didn't try it out so I can't say if it's wet or dry. The food is reasonably priced. There isn't a turf area where other branches do the Alpha class but I do see it's offered. There is plenty of space between benches so you don't feel cramped. The staff is excellent and on par with other branches. They are waiting for a liquor license for a bar on the first floor. This can be a good thing or bad!
I have been here for a month, so gotta experienced most services they offer. This is one of the most spacious fitness facilities in the city, and it has an abundance of machines for working out, so it won't feel crowded even at its peak hours. Some of their classes are top-notch, and the instructors are very knowledgeable. I took off one star because of the shower; they're still new and maybe short of staff. You can find the towel bin always full and some towels even just fell off on the floor, and the floor is not clean so you can easily spot dust and hair going around. I hope they can keep the good things and improve over time. It's been a good experience so far.
Pro: the gym location is nice, it has lots of equipment, clean and spacious Cons: the men’s locker room can use some signage, especially to educate members: around 4-6 pm when it’s busiest, the used towels are everywhere instead of putting them in the collecting bin by members, there is member drying sweaty underwear and stink up the entire dry sauna, then finally I saw member who was wearing basically their outside shorts into the hot-tub and starting some video recording to streaming. I mean the operation /management should really look into these behavior so the experience aren’t ruined for other members who had basic gym etiquette
I visited the spa at lifetime on a Tuesday evening and had the most amazing facial with Madelin. She was so knowledgeable and explained everything to me, from what and why she used specific products on my skin, to what to expect during and after my facial and how to treat my skin at home. It ended with the most relaxing massage! She then directed me to the rehabilitation area where Chris gave me a tour of all the rehabilitation equipment and explained the benefits of them. Tried out the hydro massage bed, no words, I felt great after that! I can’t wait to come back for my hydro facial! 10/10 recommend!
Great gym. I was a member of CrossFit Wallstreet which is located less than one block away from Lifetime fitness. I am so happy that I left CrossFit Wallstreet because Lifetime actually has CrossFit-like classes which are called Alpha (which I feel are so much better). Lifetime Wall Street is cheaper than Crossfit Wall Street (and much cleaner), and offers so much more (spin, yoga, weights, cardio, long hours, sauna etc). Further, the trainers at Lifetime are very knowledgeable and experienced. Lifetime is also open until 11pm which is insanely awesome. No brainer in my opinion.
$270 monthly membership. They charge you extra to use the recovery room, which consists of compression boots and a massage chair EXCEPT Recovery has been operating on very short hours and now it is closed for an entire WEEK while they're still charging members. They don't have the staff to operate it, they say. WELL THEN USE THE EXORBITANT FEES YOU'RE CHARGING MEMBERS AND HIRE STAFF. The jacuzzi hasn't been fixed for over a week as well and they keep lying about when it will be fixed. DO BETTER LIFETIME. YOU CANNOT CHARGE FOR A PRODUCT YOU'RE FAILING TO PROVIDE.
The gym is very nice, however my issues were more foundational. Layout of the space is confusing and awkward. The dumbbell / free-bench area is separated from the open space and other machines, making supersets difficult. Finding a space to do pull-ups is much harder than it should be - there’s only 3 places that I found and they’re scattered about. And all of the squat racks can be occupied by a class that’s going on while you’re there - not even 1 left open for general gym goers. I’d have given this 2 stars but the nice locker room salvaged a 3 star rating.
Update: 2/6-2/14 additional jacuzzi closure. The steam sauna had debris and was clearly not clean during my last visit. Would benefit from more evening classes, especially yoga and pilates, other than NormaTec and Hydromassage. Excellent facility and service, especially from the cafe. However, the jacuzzi was out of service during my second visit here - I've read some comments indicating similar issues. Please provide your members with notice of facility maintenance. I hope this isn't an ongoing issue. Sean is excellent up in the cafe!
Definitely one of the best gyms I’ve ever encountered. My trainer Andrew is phenomenal. His wisdom and experience in the world of weight lifting and physical therapy have made me stronger and more in tune with my body than I was when I was in my 20’s. I also highly recommend William - a structural integrative massage therapist who has helped me with my scoliosis and spinal issues in just a couple of sessions. His massage technique can only be described as ‘deliciously’ painful and invigorating. I cannot praise them enough!
I want to shout out the LifeSpa! they have real massage therapist working with your body to help your recovery. I have been going to the LifeSpa every two weeks and my body has been a dramatic difference. Will has been attuned to my body; working with my misalignments; injuries; and general recovery. Will impressed me with reading up to date research and applying it. He even takes the extra steps in educating you on your body, providing treatment plans, and giving homework. I highly recommend the LIFESPA!
Beautiful new club! They did a great job preserving some of the original elements of the building. It’s very spacious and well laid out. All of the employees are extremely nice. I’m very glad I joined and look forward to going regularly! Edit: one month later and this place isn’t being kept clean. Also, the men’s sauna has been broken for days and is going to be under maintenance for several more. How is a new sauna already broken?? Very frustrating especially for the monthly price paid for this place.
The first time I scheduled my massage with Will, it was for 1 hour. After the first 5 minutes I asked if we could make it 90 minutes. He is that good! I scheduled another one for two weeks later when checking out. Will is able to pinpoint problem areas quickly and work through melting the pain. I have made his sports massage a part of my routine and it has helped me to achieve yoga goals with flexibility and muscle melt. If you are looking for an off the charts massage, Will should be your next stop.
Huge 75,000 square foot gym with the latest equipment. However, they hold daily classes in the middle of the weights area which means every single rack is in use. The free weights area also only has 4 benches!!! So if you want to just work out (not classes) then I would avoid this and spend your $270 monthly fee somewhere else. A shame as the staff and everything else is great - why they don't keep classes to the huge studios I have no idea.
Best gym ever! More like a 5 star hotel than just an amazing gym. Incredible facility and well worth every cent of the slightly premium price. I’ve been a member or Equinox, Chelsea Piers, LA Fitness…you name it and none quite compare to LifeTime. It’s my favorite home away from home now. The staff are all incredibly friendly and that’s been consistent across the board unlike some of the other premium gyms where it’s been a bit hot or miss.
William Rojas is a fantastic massage therapist. I’ve been on the hunt for a good sports massage and Wil was able to pinpoint the issue causing my the pain in my left shoulder (that has been bothering me for YEARS) and fix it. Highly recommend. If you’re searching for a sports massage or want a professional massage done to help relieve muscle or join pain, this is the place to be.
Beware of their SCAM POLICY. I was approved and cancelled my membership 30 days ago while paying for the full month that I cancelled for. Then I get a charge of $17.46 because it counts as a pro rated rate for one day in case I use this gym today, the start of the billing cycle. Who would even do that??? Why was I charged? I haven’t used this gym since I cancelled 30 days ago.
I got a massage with William. He is a master masseuse! It's like a sports massage experience. He relieved enormous tension that was inflicting tremendous pain and causing me to hunch. William took the time to understand my needs. By far the best massage I've had in NYC. Far better than any massage I've had at Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons hotels or other spas.
I took a hot yoga class here and used the facilities with a day pass through my insurance’s gym program. The staff is so nice and it’s a gorgeous gym. Hopefully I can afford a membership eventually! Tried going to the dumbo location to use my insurance guest pass and they were incredibly nasty, rude and unhelpful. Would not recommend.
I have been going to William for the past few months for message. He knows how to find pain and tension points from working out and life stresses, and he is brilliant at being able to get rid of them. I feel like a new person every time I leave. Super talented and extremely knowledgeable, best massage therapist in this city!
I'm going to write a more in-depth review when I have the time, but I just wanna say, Narole the nail tech (spell check) is amazing. She's so kind, knowledgeable, and professional. The pedicure she gave me was relaxing and made my feet look and feel great. I'm looking forward to requesting her again for future treatments.
Amazing gym. Love everything about it, but please add more classes! Every other class on the schedule is a “NormaTec Session” or “Hydromassage Session” that you have to pay for. More classes on the weekends and more yoga classes please …
Love this place - especially their hair services! Everyone was so kind and exceeded my expectations! All of the stylists are phenomenal but I had booked with Leo this past time and he did such a great job!
I love the gym and the staff! Big shout out to team that works in the day care! They are loving and so patient with the kids! I feel comfortable leaving my little one with such reliable individuals!
Amazing new gym, very thoughtfully laid out, staff is so friendly and welcoming. Every machine you can imagine and very clean. Also love the locker room facilities and recovery area.
Beautiful clean luxury gym. Everything you could need and more in terms of equipment. Staff and trainers are very friendly and responsive to any needs. Very satisfied.
It’s the best Lifetime location in NYC (haven’t seen the 57th St one but heard it is small). Big, lots of equipment, beautiful club, etc.
William Rojas is a massage magician with fire hands. top sports massage I’ve ever gotten. Don’t need to be a member. Ask for Will.
William Rojas is a life saver! I came in unable to walk and he completely fixed me. Best therapeutic massage ever!
Absolutely stunning facilities and incredible amenities! Definitely one to check out!
Great location. Get your hair cut by Leo here. He does an amazing job every time.
Amazing place and staff but please extend wifi to men’s bathroom and dry sauna!
Confusing layout at first, awesome amenities and friendly/helpful staff!
bad inattentive and rude fitness trainer classes. I don’t like it.
Very loud cleaning staff in the women's locker room :(
Best club right now. Hopefully they keep it as is!
Brand new gym, great classes and facility
Not so bad. Gets the work out done :)
My new gym, it's fancy. I LOVE it!
