"Gail's in Belize Park is without doubt the best cafe in in Belsize Park"
"Unfortunately seating outside on the tables has been impossible in the last few months: a man begging repeatdly for money, everyday, from 8am to 5pm, seating on the floor by the beautiful three, right in front of the tables"
Staff really need to learn better customer service. They are surly and indifferent to customers and are letting the brand down. They are usually more interested in talking amongst themselves. This has happened on several occasions. This is not a cheap establishment. In a most recent example I asked for a coffee to sit in. I was served in a takeaway cup. I then explained that I wanted to sit in. Without an apology, she then proceeded to tip the disposable cup into a mug. I wasn’t given a tray or even a napkin. There’s lots of other coffee shops in Belsize Park. I’ll go elsewhere in future.
Food is quite good however every time I have gone in it felt like the staff were irritated and judgemental. I always approach them in a friendly manner and they act annoyed or cold. Really weird vibe and I’m very confused by their behaviour. Maybe management needs to create a more rewarding environment for their staff, so they can be motivated to be nicer. It’s a shame because it could be a lovely place but this behaviour has put quite a few people off.

Incredibly dirty, quite shocking. Saw a customer today looking for a paper towel to clean a chair to sit on as all empty chairs, benches and tables were covered with food crumbles, just as a member of staff carried rubbish through the entire dining area after packing it right in front of everyone as most tables face the area behind the counter. Never been to Belsize Park one until today and will never go back there, it will now probably take me a while to visit my local one too. Gail's food is pretty pricey, I'd rather bring this money to somewhere cleaner and more inviting instead.
Gail's in Belize Park is without doubt the best cafe in in Belsize Park. I've been going there for many years now and can always be sure of a warm welcome. The staff are lovely. The coffee and baking is excellent. Try the scones, pastries and cookies - or the savouries. The quiches are delicious. While the serving area works well, some improvement could be made to the sitting areas, inside and out, which while comfortable, could be made more inviting with some warmth, colour and better lighting. But with that reservation this is still a five star cafe.
Unfortunately seating outside on the tables has been impossible in the last few months: a man begging repeatdly for money, everyday, from 8am to 5pm, seating on the floor by the beautiful three, right in front of the tables. Impossible to have a coffee or a chat there anymore, with someone harrassing people non stop screaming:”Hello!!Please!! Hello DARLING!! God bless you!!Please, please!! Please Darling! Good morning! God bless you“ Gaill’ should do something about it. It’s been at least four months now.
I love this Gail’s, always have full display and lovely food options to choose. Staff it’s really friendly, I was surprised when I read some bad comments about staff, I usually come in the mornings before going to the office and the staff and the girl who is usually at the conter are very friendly and welcoming all the time. I love to start my day with gails coffee and one of the lovely pastry options. Thanks Gail’s Belsize
Whenever I visit the Gail’s here, staffs are all rude and provide poor customer service. Staff who was working today was looking at the mobile phone and didn’t care about the customer at all. As a local, I made up my mind again that I shouldn’t go to Gail’s in Belsize park. If you want to be survived in this area, you must train your staff about what customer service is!!!! Even you don’t deserve to get 1 star!!!
This place its always busy but the Coffee is very good, te staff its really friendly. The girl on the till have been years there and she really Knows about customer service and efficience, i think her name is Daiana, this company should be very happy to have her as employee. Its always a pleasure to come here as we feel welcome.
Gail's bakery serve great food. No doubt about it. But when it comes to service they can definitely do better especially with the prices that they charge. The management can do better to encourage staff to serve with more joy. Also the ventilation system in the place isn't great. I left the place smelling like fried bacon.
Very nice chain bakery. I like their sourdough and olive breads. Their olive bread is my comfort bread so I am a regular. I love their sausage rolls and all of their quiches. I do not like any of their other pastry. Their coffee is decent (caveat: I rarely drink coffee so I may not be the best judge here).
I'm a regular user if various Gails cafe but this one v disappointing. The outside tables were filthy and covered in empty crockery etc. I asked a member of staff to clean my table which she did but left the other five dirty tables. There were pigeons on other tables and food debris on the floor area
What I ordered was nice. But the service was grumpy and tables at the back sticky and dirty. I paid £8.50 for a double macchiato and 2 small things to eat. So I would expect better service for the price. Would buy bread here to take home. But as a tearoom it leaves me wanting.
Consistently good quality bread, cakes and lunch offerings . 5* for now but need to introduce some new offerings as counter is always the same and I can see portions shrinking in size to cut costs (e.g. cheese sticks are 2/3 their original size so we have stopped buying).
Great coffee, and very friendly staff considering some of the moronic customers that they have to deal with. Imagine having a fit if the croissants have finished and they're baking new ones. The rudness I've seen from some of these customers leaves a lot to be desired.
Best chai latte in London, great service, delicious bread and pastries. Highly recommend.

I had a great brunch here yesterday. Food was amazing, the sausage roll has to be the best I’ve ever had. Lovely member of staff called Robert gave us outstanding customer service. Will come back here every time I’m in Belsize Park I the future
They got nice outdoor seating area. The staffs were friendly. I love their chocolate brownie fingers and coconut macaroons. The brownie was really good as they used a good quality of chocolate. Coconut macaroon was nice and soft on the centre.
I stop by here in the mornings whenever I venture into the office, and although there are lots of cafes in this area Gail's is my favourite. The coffee is delicious, as is the oat porridge. As far as I know Gail's is the only place here at
Located opposite to Belsize Park station, Gail's Belsize Park is one of two Gail's in the area. While small and narrow, the highlight is the outside seating area which is a great option during the summer. The pastries are good especially
First time in the Gail's of Belsize Park, and it was as good as always (I usually go to the one in Kentish Town). Really fast and friendly service in the breakfast rush. And the porridge with blueberries, seed and maple syrup was great!
Love your friendly staff and service. Not sure I can keep coming while your staff aren’t wearing masks, however. Seems unsafe for them and customers at this time. I appreciate it isn’t easy, maybe they could have more frequent breaks
In general, I love Gail’s. Love their bread and viennoiserie. Unfortunately, the way Gail Belsize Park manages the delivery orders is simply a scandal. Everytime I order smth via Deliveroo either smth from the order is
Terrible customer service. The staff couldn’t care less. Can’t even make a proper porridge. I ordered a blueberry porridge to go. There was no blueberry, no toppings. I just got plain porridge. Very disappointing.
I visited this brunch today and I definately recommend it. Its a bit on the pricier side but the quality is worth the money. Staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. Will be back soon!
Since its opening I'm a regular here, whenever I am in London. Quality efficeny and v friendly staff are the hall marks of this bakery! Keep up the good work guys!.
This is the best coffee shop in Belsize Park. The coffee is delicious and the staff is always very friendly and helpful, no matter how busy the are.

Great place for coffee and pastries, the staff are very pleasant. However, I found their pancakes very average.
Great coffee and really quick service, the manager was also incredibly nice and was able to have a good chat!
Baked stuff is good but coffee is terrible. Espresso tasted like a very average americano.
Consistent quality Gail’s bread, pastries and coffee. My pastrami bagel was delicious.
Used to like GAIL's but won't use until they start taking cash again... Shame!
Really terrible weak coffee, even espresso tastes like a bad americano
Gail’s food quality never disappoints. Terrible service though
Wonderful pastries and bakery items. Very fresh and tasty!
Amazing customer service, very quick and delicious food
The staff is super friendly and the food is delicious.
