This is an old school stadium with a modern stand and two top quality artificial pitches. It's has a capacity of roughly 5,000 and as well as rugby ocasionally hosts other sports and events such as concerts, American Football and GAA. Donnybrook stadium was recently rebranded as Energia Park and plays host to Ireland woman's team, inter pro games, age grade representative teams as well as many Leinster Senior and Junior Cup schools games, Leinster Branch club finals and games against its two resident clubs. Donnybrook is steeped in rugby tradition and home to two of Irish rugby's most venerable clubs Bective Rangers FC and Old Wesley. Donnybrook was also formerly the home of Leinster Rugby before their move to the RDS which has a much greater capacity. For hundreds of years up until the 1850's, this site hosted Donnybrook Fair which ran for a fortnight each summer. It became famous as a place of fighting and debauchery and gave rise to the slang term "a Donnybrook" meaning a good brawl or fight.
Attended the recent concert by The National at this venue. Got a taxi to the venue from the city centre, which is fairly easy to find. It is walkable from Dublin City centre, but it would take a good 45mins. There are various small food outlets outside and near the venue, and a selection of pubs. Entrance and exit was very easy, although signage wasn't great. It's basically your typical mid-sized rugby or football ground. There was ample space on the pitch. We had tickets for the one seated stand at the ground, but didn't use them. The food and drink vendor areas were well laid out, and there were plenty of options. This was my fist visit to the stadium, and it was very positive. I would look forward to another event here.
Nice little stadium. Quite steep stand but there is loads of leg room. Toilets are well situated below the stand. Its a no smoking stadium but if you smoke you can do so in the open spaces behind the goal. The arena handles rain quite well. Food and drink available from mobile outlets at bective rangers end.
Great day out, terrific atmosphere. St Michaels v Belivdere. Well organised, security professional and polite. Sadly my friends son Dan Reddin was on losing side but he played well when he came on in second half. Congratulations St Michaels . Great fun, great day out. …
Great rugby training ground and club, check out the Biodiversity Community courtesy of Donnybrook Tidy Towns just outside the club. River Dodder runs along the boundary of the club with a new Greenway going in hopefully by early 2023.
Great place to watch or play. Two great clubs at either end of the grounds. Great transport, serving the stadium, leave your car at home as the parking is expensive and enforced.
Had a great time watching rugby at this stadium with the family. Nice and local place and there was some good food available. Would recommend to anyone around the area.
Grand place but have to say got ripped payed 20.50 for a plan burger and a plan hotdog and a can of coke come on like what the heck.
So many happy occasions here. This one did not go well. Well beaten by a very fine team. Oh well good to see old friends again
Just popped in to say hello to Josh and congratulate him on his marriage and winning the series against the All Blacks.
Nice pitch good atmosphere. Nice food. Good bars. Would recommend seating if it's raining as you're quite exposed.
Played Ranelagh Gaels u10 hurlers, great hosts great pitch, took a bit of getting used to mind you. Great morning
Ladies toilets absolutely disgusting need a good power hose. Stands weren't much better with rubbish every where.
Whether your teams wins or loses, you couldn't not enjoy the atmosphere. I was there for schools cup rugby.
Great stadium, easy to access and all the necessary facilities of a great rugby stadium.
Parking is limited and you'll get clamped if not paying and displaying.
I've only seen this stadium outside. It looks nice and interesting.
