Back in the 70's and eighties, the National Stadium was THE live music venue in Dublin. I saw many great acts here back then. One of the most memorable was Ry Cooder. Fast forward to 2018, and I'm back here again to see Ry Cooder. And what a show. But let me focus on the venue. Sound was excellent. There is a spacious bar with fast service. They do a 3 for €10 deal on bottled beers, so beer is cheaper than in some of the nearby pubs. The place is quite old fashioned in a charming kind of way. They have shops selling cups of tea and chocolate bars. I even saw boxes of instant soup. The layout is strange, as it is designed for boxing rather than music, but it works. My one minor gripe is that my seat was very cramped. Try to avoid the front rows of the outer areas. There's a lattice steel barrier and my knees were squashed up against that. So seating comfort apart, I highly recommend this venue for live music. It has the buzz of a large venue, yet feels surprisingly intimate. And if you're my age, there's the added bonus of nostalgia.
First time to step inside the National Stadium and not for its famous boxing, but to a Pablo Vittar Concert and it was an amazing concert, in a very intimate venue, where everyone had a birds eye view of the stage. The meet and greet and the performance were amazing. What made this venue brilliant was the STAFF ! From entering the venue to leaving it was such a breath of fresh air to meet customer service at its best. Real Dublin people showing themselves at their best, engaging with the concert goers and wanting them to have a really good experience from start to finish. From security staff, to the staff on the hot dog booths and especially the ladies serving the bar who when we first arrived in, we said we were starving and hadn't eaten from breakfast, the ladies brought the three of us 3 Jaffa Cakes to curb the hunger ! Like where do you get that ! Only in Ireland . So hats off to the staff working on 26th of May 2022 and to The National Stadium, thank you!
The national staduim its self is a little run down the main arena is a little dated and could do with some new paint but that is it's only fault. Terrace seating, full sized boxing ring in the centre well kept and lit all seats can see the ring, a stage too so could be a could music venue but has been rarely used as such. Access to the ringside bar, New dressing rooms with showers. The training facilities are in the building across the car park with 3 full rings, small but well supplied gym and about 10 to 15 bags and other boxing training gear. New male and female dressing rooms. The boxing camps run out of the stadium are brilliant and attending any of the boxing events are great, they have a competitive but relaxed atmosphere seeing boxers during the national competitions warming up in the various corners of the arena as well as cheering on their peers makes the place and organisation feel real grass roots encouraging boxing in all age groups and walks of life
The queuing system is horrendous. I queued for two hours for the W.A.S.P. concert on the 25th of March 2023. There were many other people that had queued for even longer than I had. The security guard at the vehicle entrance informed us all that the middle door was going to be used, and to queue to the right of the building. It wasn't until 19:00 when the doors opened, that the security guard inside the foyer told us that the door on the left of the foyer was to be used, and that we had been queuing at the wrong place. Fortunately, after we argued our case, we were allowed enter at the front of the queue. Some proper communication in future would be helpful.
Came to see Kevin Doyle do the Elvis 68 comeback special. The arena holds up to 2000 people but there where planty of seat not sold but no matter where you sit you have a good view of the stage. The place sells sweets, burgers, hotdogs, soup and there is a bar which has great deals on drinks. 3 longnecks for €10. Got a pint and a Gin and tonic for €10. But you have to put in a plastic glass if you leave the bar. We really enjoyed our night here and would come again. We came by bus which stops right outside the door. There is car parking available but not many. There is street parking but in evening time couldn't see much available.
I was there for the first time three weeks ago, and looking through my eyes, the people gathered there forgot what they were doing there and why they came? Many people were drunk, leaving empty bottles and empty cups under their seats, there were many stains on the ground from spilled drinks. At the end of all the tournaments, there were mountains of empty bottles, cups, chip packets and so on on the ground by the walls. The people who were there simply show that they have little or no mentality, they are a disgrace to the Irish nation. It's a pity that there are many such people who continue to raise the same young generation.
Came here for my first Strictly Salsa class and walked into the National Stadium mid Bingo and I was amazed at its size. Such an impressive venue. My mum told me she saw Johnny Cash amongst other amazing artists when it was Ireland's only music venue back in the day. I'm amazed I have never attended any event here or in the hall behind the Stadium. I will definitely be more alert to things happening here. I won't leave it till my kids are in their late thirties before letting them know this existed!!! Worth checking out.
Sells seats that don't exist! We went to The National Stadium for a concert and had tickets for Block B, Row 3. When we went to find our seats, we found out that the rows start at FOUR. The attendant first tried to chase us away by shouting at us and then after a while took us to get our tickets exchanged to the worst, most limited-view seats there were. We paid for good seats and got terrible ones and shouted at to boot. Neither Ticketmaster not The National Stadium have taken responsibility.
Had a brilliant night at our first ever Scrappermania held by OTT Wrestling! Pretty cool that this is the only purpose built Boxing Stadium in the world and it was just perfect for this type of show! Just be wary when visiting that there is no real parking and the surrounding area is residential so permit and pay parking on the side streets but we found a space quickly enough. We had a great night and enjoyed all the Drinks and Snacks that were available :) Can't wait for our next one!
This is a really good venue for professional wrestling, the place can get really loud and boisterous, getting in and out of the stadium can be a pain, the meet and greet area can get VERY cramped, almost to the point I nearly fell onto one of the merchandise tables, seats are on the more cramped side, with my knees rubbing off of the seats in front of me, acoustics are quite good, but the venue does need to be renovated/updated a decent bit, as it's starting to show it's age
I was at a Ry Cooder concert here. The seating at the side where I was was very poor and there was a distinct lack of legroom. I am not tall and I just about fitted into the seat but it was not comfortable. My two brothers, both over 6 feet, couldn't sit in their seats. Luckily we were in the back row and they were able to stand in their seats. I would not be rushing back to another gig there. It's not exactly the Three Arena.
A small but intimate concert hall with some amenities like snacks and bottled drinks. Alcohol is available but quite expensive. Seats are spacious enough even with the limited leg room between each row and the standing area is small. Overall a pretty decent venue for less popular artists or artists who offer less tickets.
Attended the first Big Sing event with my family at The National Stadium, great atmosphere, great energy on stage, great performances, helpful friendly staff, a lovely lady in the Kiosk served us tea and chatted to us, could only find on street parking but we were early so we got lucky, great night overall.
A bit like a trip back in time, the temporary bar reminds me of the old town halls when I was younger. Toilets rough and no draft beer but the place definitely has character... Happy to go to gigs there in the future, just a pity the isn't any easy parking or easy transport links from the Northside
Hosted national schools competition a few weeks ago. Thought it was really well organised and it was great to see Michael Carruth still so dedicated and obliging to the public. To get through so many bouts and create the atmosphere there was a real credit to all involved. …
Just a quick review to say thanks to the security who worked the barriers for the Testament/Exodus/Death Angel gig. Top lads who helped people, including myself, over the barriers during some crowd surfing that happens at these gigs. Well done to the Stadium for that. Thanks a lot.
National stadium is Irish boxing area where our Irish boxer compete and on the Sunday we have a christian prayer meeting which is called the All nation church, everyone is welcome to attend the service and worship the living God. Service start every Sunday at 11am till 13pm.
Went to Snow White Panto two adults two children 3 & 4. The kids were bored as were those near us. I thought it was a waste for the money. The layout of the venue didnt help. There wasn't any engagement with the audience before the show started to keep the kids interested.
Was there for the first time at Mike and the mechanics. Great the way the lad told us that the band will be on a couple of minutes instead of waiting on the roar of the crowd and the usual panic of trying to get to your seat. Would have like a few more beers on tap though
The venue is good for a mid sized gig. Public transport is limited however and the doors opened too late to allow people in before the first band played leaving the majority of people to miss most of the first act. Better organisation is desperately needed in the future.
Visitor from London to watch the Irish ABA Elite Finals. Very nice venue, I wish that a venue like this back home. Not a bad seat in the house! Tuck shop and tea bar is a good treat for spectators. I hope to visit this venue more regularly for some busman holidays!
Went to see Alladdin panto here it was brilliant as usual the seating is great no poles or restricted viewing you have clear views andcan see the stage from anywhere you sit there is a carpark beside the stadium and the bus stops near by will be going back next year
This venue is great for a music experience. Saw Mike and the mechanics. A bit disappointing as the original songs were put in the background for newer stuff. The venue was a bit outta Dublin with no taxi rink close by. Had to leave early to be sure of a taxi
Go there on Sunday for worship @ 1100, if you like staying together with other people from different countries. THERE'S ALL NATION CHRISTIAN CHURCH. Beautiful place to praise God worship God. Wonderful music. You will discover yourself again.
First time here in what is apparently the only purpose built amateur boxing arena in the world. We attended a music gig here and had an excellent night. The sound was really good, crowd friendly and no lengthy wait to get served at the bar.
Good venue for concerts, but view is obscured as staff seem to have little control over people leaving their seats and standing in walkways. Apart from blocking the view of many people, it looks like it could be a safety issue as well.
Venue was good ,but bar service was deplorable, queueing up for over an hour ,not acceptable for a drink ,plus no coors no Heineken, only cheap stuff named o haras alcohol, n very expensive ,never again city west was a better venue.
Last night was the 1st time i we.nt to the national stadium we went to see the highkings it was a great concert it was packed out and it was a great atmosphere the band was great would go again to the stadium to see other bands
Great place too watch the boxing used to love watching the mma 'cage fighting' especially back in the early day's of the sport had a proper cage great seating and setting, needs a bit of updating otherwise great for most events
Went for couple of figth... the first Antonio Conte won steppin up for the 4th final round. The lucky dosen't help Antonio has been fighting with an shoulder illness with a good competitors... Well done Antonio see ya in April
Went to my first concert (that's what we called them back then) here Leonard Cohen late 70's early 80's. 2022 brought the powerhouse that is Johnny Lydon and Public Image Limited supported by the great Dublin band @TheMelts .
Went here for an OTT event. Wasn't a lot of headroom for the guys jumping around. And it was very very warm, they had to open emergency doors at one point for cool air. Otherwise it was well laid out. Parking was an issue.
Went to see the panto with Allen Hues and had the best time! Allan was good enough to come back out after the show to wish my 9 year a happy birthday and take some photos. Couldn't have asked for a better experience
Went there for a gig, parking was not available so had to park in the naghbourhood where parking is max 3 hours and pay & display 24/7. Getting in and out the building is painful as there is only one way in and out.
The location isn't one of the best, but have an easy access with public transport or car. Inside have an good size for concerts and other events and is well maintained. Personally I enjoyed see a concert there.
We were on Bruce Dickenson event.. Look that is an old building, not much space in sitting row.. But toilet were clean, there is a bar there, so you can buy beer and snack, even hotdog.. So overall it was OK..
Great place. I attend all nations church here every Sunday 11am Amazing Holy Spirit filled church,. Pastor John is Amazing man of God Would recommend anyone to go here. Change my life Praise God …
Went to see the Gaslight Anthem here and it's a nice little venue with good acoustics. My only gripe would be no beer on tap which could of been easily solved with a couple of kegs and a basic set up.
No card machines on the entire premises for the biggest Irish Pro Wrestling event of the year. One of my friend's seats was broken, toilets filthy. I love OTT but the stadium needs some improvements.
Sits 2000 people, holds a vibrant alive church (All Nations Church) on Sundays with great praise and worship and a non compromising stand Word from the boxing ring. You can never leave the same.
Good stage area, the cons is bar location during show events at outside arena, also toilets area are small to accommodate all customers. Sound acoustic is good, nice atmosphere and vibe.
Small intimate venue, only ever been here for gigs and it works well. Little shops inside have quite a limited stock, but you can get most popular soft drinks, sweets, and beer and wine.
Went to see panto Snow White....great show....free onsite parking....the only slight downside was the uncomfortable seating hard plastic chairs & the ambience of the theatre is lacking
Seating was very cramped for the event I attended and the selection at the bar was a bit weak. That being said, had a great time there with no real problems. Would definitely go again.
Great venue for Music Concerts although it is our National Boxing Stadium I have attended numerous Gigs at this venue in the last 50 years and was always a Fantastic experience.
Purpose built boxing stadium hosts irish boxing irelands most sucsessful sport seating for 2000 people ,the home of Irish Boxing also hosts many music evwnts and concerts
Visted the 1st time for a Blackberry Smoke Concert. Helpful and friendly staff and clean premises which would not be a usual experience at live concerts in other premises
I went to a show tonight and it was brilliant great venue well-done to the lads from talking bollox podcast …
My grandson was fighting in the contest under the 49kg division. Good amenities and very professional management of the contests by boxers from all the counties.
The best atmosphere for a wrestling show of any venue I've ever been to. Toilet facilities are a little sparce for the amount of people they pack in here though
Intimate venue - great for small concerts and matches! Can fit around 2000 easily with the seats all being in good line with the stage - central location too!
Was at an event there and was able to see everything on stage easily. Atmosphere was charged. Staff kept the question moving fast and there was no long delays
These premises has been used to host drag shows one month then the next Christian groups against the LGBTQ+ communities and allys. Which are you supporting?
Nice big venue, good sound, a few snacks places scattered around. Bar area was outside the main seating area. Seating numbers were difficult to understand.
The place is small. The acoustics of the place are not the best. The space between the rows of chairs is not spacious. The place inside is kind of stuffy.
Great music venue, sound is fab! Staff very helpful, friendly, efficient. Note: Parking in the area is a disaster so leave extra time for getting there
Brilliant venue, we were there to see the brazilian singer Zeca Pagodinho.. Really nice and well organized, easy to park was a plus... Well done guys
Very good venue, easy access, comfortable but tight seating, very clean well presented toilets, nice bar and very good staff, will go there again.
It's ok. The logistics to get to the bar during a concert is a nightmare.. I believe it depends on the producers of the event but it's chaotic
Great for Boxing and also holds others sports ⚽⚾n Music Venue sometimes. Brilliant sound. Enjoy!! …
Great venue for concerts, big but intimate. The only downside is that the bar does not have taps, so all drinks are bottles or cans.
Here for the Panto. Great craic, brilliant show . Toilet facilities could be improved but access for all abilities to be commended
Staff were brilliant. Seating arrangement for the gig was brilliant.. could’ve done with Heineken on draught but what can ya do…
Loved it. Sunday church service at All nations. Very warm welcome and friendly people. Will definitely keep visiting this church
Saw the High Kings here, nice, small venue. Layout is a bit odd to understand, but now we know so we can plan better next time.
Great venue for a gig, good organisation and the security and bar staff couldn't have been nicer. Went to see Dope Lemon …
Historical venue both for boxing and music , after it's revamp it just might become vital, looking forward to my next visit .
Amazing show Aladdin with Alan Hughes and cast Paul Ryder etc. So loved the space and great use of it too for shows like this
Fantastic venue. Was there for Wake as part of Fringe. But will now be keeping an eye out to see what else they put on there
Got there early so able to avail of the limited free parking. Grand little venue for intimate music gig. Sound was good.
Terrific venue for live music, plenty of space and great access to the bar and toilets. Cosy atmosphere and comfortable
We go here on a Sunday to attend the church service. It is absolutely brilliant and such a wonderful experience.
Great venue, I was at a music night for "Aidlink" not boxing :-). Lots of parking on street around site.
Good place. I went to a Brazilian concert. There were a lot of people, but it was well organized.
Very central , great sound for gigs , poor parking facilities though, other than that good venue
Well laid out .Kids had a great time at the panto. Comfy ,well organised.Popcorn was overpriced.
Super venue, great sound and has an intimate feel. Bar staff are all over it and very friendly.
Went to see a fantastic Panto with the only difficulty being a shortage of parking... go early!
Good venue for gigs. Staff always very good and a drink can be cheaper here than the pubs.
Went to see Alestorm and Gloryhammer and was not disappointed. Absolutely brilliant night.
Went to see Jessie J here .. was a real cosy experience.. felt like a school auditorium
I went to a gig Sleaford mods were playing with my brother Brian we had a great night.
Good places for small events. It has accessibility and it is possible to buy drinks.
Lovely place. I was there in a Milky Chance concert and the ambient was unbeatable.
Great to be back in the Stadium Very comfortable sound was great Kila were amazing
We were at the cheerios panto, brilliant show, dancers amazing, buffy had me pms,
Great venue for a show or Panto as space a key safety feature since the pandemic
Really enjoyed the panto here this year, can't wait for next year's one...
As a national boxing stadium it's a joke. As a church it's great.
Nice place to watch the lads boxing, they even have a snack bar
No cloakroom for bags is a pain. Great venue for music though.
No parking onsite but can find some on streets nearby
Went here for an concert and it was very nice
Staff and venuwle was great. Not one issue.
Saw gojira here fantastic view great sound.
Great venue, seats are very close together
