Lovely little bakery in China Town that offer a big range of cheap (but delicious) Chinese pastries, buns and cakes. However, my favourite dessert to have here would definitely be the matcha taiyaki ice cream (green tea ice cream in a fish shaped cone, pictured). They also have bubble waffle desserts (pictured) minus the massive queue that you get opposite where Bubblewrap Waffle is! The matcha ice cream is by far my favourite - not too sweet or bitter like you would usually get with matcha ice cream, and there is even a vanilla or a mix of both matcha and vanilla to try too. I recommend bringing cash if you do visit, their card readers are quite unreliable and I’ve been in many positions where the card reader has failed, so have had to leave the store to withdraw cash instead - save yourself the hassle!

Bought the char siu pastry. Price was good for the size. Very flakey…HOWEVER, they had a piece of cupcake liner and when trying to rip it off, the bottom was completely stuck…wrecking the whole structure. Regular baking parchment would’ve been a better choice Edit: to those complaining about not accepting Scottish money…you do realise they’re not legal tenders meaning the business has rights to refuse notes not issued by the BoE. Even McDonald’s would refuse or at manager discretion. Just take your note to any bank to exchange and stop complaining

Saw an advert in the bakery to come here, and I’m glad I did! Managed to get my drink 50% off as part of a opening promotional deal, which was fantastic. I got a large, and the drink was a great size! Good amount of pearls, and a standard taste for taro. Unfortunately, service was a bit slow, but I appreciated the fact that there were seats available to wait at.

Chinese Bakes as well as Bubble Wrap and Soft Serve in Fish Cone are all delicious and reasonably priced, however the Sakurado's Mille Crepes are much harder and drier than they should be and worst of all the one of Passionfruit barely tastes passionfruit and the one of Black Sesame does not taste black sesame at all. Surely will not come back to try the other flavors as there are way better options of fine patisseries for the price - £6.25 per Mille Crepes.

I went in to buy a dessert after going to the Misato restaurant beside this bakery. I bought one white lotus moon cake which was delicious, I had never tried any in my life but this one was rich, moist and filling. My review would be a five star but customer service isn't the best as I wanted to ask for recommendations, having never eaten Chinese desserts but I was told to just choose myself and the two employees there were just talking among themselves.

Had a craving for pineapple bun so wandered into Chinatown to get some. I don’t carry cash around anymore but most Chinese bakeries only accept cash. This one takes card for purchases > £5! Thank god. Everything in the store looks and smells fresh. They tastes just as good as they look!! I bought a pineapple bun, coconut roll and matcha bun with red bean & mochi filling. They are all so yummy!! Would definitely go back again if I’m in London.

Service wasn’t that great, but it’s fine as long this is a bakery aimed at take away. The taiyaki (waffle filled with red beans) was smaller than expected, but it was still the perfect snack for cold days. My taiyaki was already cooled down, because it wasn’t freaky prepared, but at least the dough was still crunchy. Also tried the matcha ice cream, also served in a fish shaped cone. The taste was great, not too overwhelming.

Delicious delicious delicious. Great range of sweet and savoury buns, cake and pastries from more traditional moon cakes to cheese and hot dog buns. Pork bun and custard buns are favourites. They do a line of Taiyaki (fish shaped waffles) with red bean, Nutella or now custard filling; or larger ones that are filled with soft serve ice cream like an ice cream cone. I make a point of visiting any time I’m in the area.

No self control when it comes to bakeries Old school sponge cake and a variety of buns from Chinatown, London. The cakes were light & soft; pandan bun was as fluffy as a cotton candy!! Only downside was the packaging of the bun as half the bread was stuck to the box Custard pastry was not too sweet…perfectly balanced with the flaky buttery pastry

They have bakery options and ice cream, bakery was fairly priced. Thought that the ice cream wasn’t special, there’s only two options; vanilla or matcha or a mix of both. Not too expensive and the cone is fresh, just had higher expectations. Other workers had always been nice but lady at ice cream section is rude. All in all, would recommend bakery section.

  • Charlotte Rahardjo

I love how they have freshly baked fish shaped soft serve cones. I normally don't like ice cream and if I do eat it I usually choose a cup instead of a cone but this is just too delicious. Everytime I'm in Londen I need to get a matcha soft serve here. I haven't tried any other products here but I bet the custard filled tiny fish must be delicious too.

A bit late, but I went to this shop two times, once in mid 2019 and once in early 2020 and both times I found the pastries to be very delicious and I really enjoyed the matcha vanilla ice cream in the fish shaped wafer. The shape added to the fun. The shop space is rather small, but has a great variety of baked goods so I really liked shopping here.

Such lovely little bakery in china town with some authentic delicious bakeries. I tried few of their cakes, the fish waffles and ice cream, all was great. The mix ice cream was delicious, definitely try it especially if your a fan of macha, it wasn’t bitter at all. The fish shaped waffles were good, filled with Nutella and some with custard.

  • J T

The bakery here is literally incredible, it’s so so so good. The smell and aroma as you walk past is so tempting. I miss the smell and taste of all these baked goods. I always buy in bulk and the staff who was also Cantonese speaking was really helpful I recommend the pineapple buns, Dan tart (egg tarts) and the custard taiyaki!

  • Raksha

I have never been the biggest fan of matcha, but a friend convinced me to try this matcha ice cream and I was not disappointed. The quality of the matcha used to make the matcha ice cream is great. The presentation of the matcha ice cream was interesting - the matcha is filled into a Taiyaki as the cone replacement.

  • Hai Ngo

Fun asian bakery. Lots of fun options at affordable prices. There's a slight language barrier which makes their customer service seem lacking. I thought the fish ice cream thing was gonna be a total gimmick (that I wanted to be a park of nevertheless), but turns out the green tea soft serve was quite tastey.

  • Stephanie Baillie-Sauvarin

Have been here twice now and would come again whenever I’m in chinatown. Individually packed to make it Covid secure. Have tried the pork bun, the custard bun and the sausage bun, all delicious, fresh and soft. Going to try their pandan cake soon which I’m sure will be a hit. Would definitely recommend.

  • Eli Christev

My fave taiyaki place!! This bakery sells so many delicious japanese pastries you have to try! They specialice in taiyaki and do red bean/custard/nutella filled. Can also be served with delicious matcha soft serve (great combo btw.) Perfectly cooked and they can heat it up for you before you go.

  • Yaran Liang

Their Taiyaki matcha ice cream is Ace! Definitely recommend their smooth and creamy matcha ice cream Freshly baked Taiyaki cone. They also do small Taiyaki with fillings and all sorts of Cantonese bread. The shop can be very busy so you don't get the time or space to wander or explore.

  • Martin

I bought a very cool ice cream from this place! They use a dough batter to make a fish-shaped cone, which was new for me. I chose the mixed vanilla and green tea ice cream. It was really delicious and would recommend it if you’re passing by and fancy a unique and tasty ice cream.

  • L L

The taiyaki ice cream is awesome. The matcha flavour is tasty. Smooth creamy ice cream. The cone is crispy and slightly chewy. They give a generous amount of ice cream too. Good value for £4. Plus you can get a nice photo. They also sell a variety of Chinese style bake goods.

  • Wafa Kr

This Chinese bakery is awesome ! The pandan cake is absolutely amazing ! Light and fluffy ! The taiyaki was delicious ! They have a very large selection of Asian pastries soft bread, and they also have the ice cream taiyaki ! You need to visit this place don’t miss it !

  • Akshaya

Went on a 'food binge' day out with friends and this was by far our best stop, in my opinion, with its extremely fluffy Pandan cake and delicious taiyaki ice cream (I got mixed: plain and matcha). The prices were amazing and I am definitely going every time I'm in the area

  • Kathy Ferrari

Wow! Amazing cake purchased today. It looked beautiful. It was a large vanilla sponge fruit cake. Sponge was light and fluffy, cream was light and fluffy. So many comments from the people who ate it about how nice it was. Extremely pleased. Brilliant value for money

  • Jeevan Manavalan

I've been there several times, the large variety is always fun to try and the food is really cheap so you end up leaving with a bag full of unique snacks, the one snack friends ask me to get everytime I go are those mini taiyaki so make sure you try them as well.

  • None None

I got the oreo cake and it was the best cake I've ever had and for a very reasonable price for central london. It was packaged so sweetly and the lady who served us was amazing and considerate, asking if we needed a takeaway box/bag and tiny cake forks. So sweet.

  • Narcissistic Humility

This bakery was decent. I bought the fish bun with red bean paste filling, custard bun, lotus bun and the bun that looks like melonpan. Everything was edible and tasted nice but it was not better than other Japanese/Chinese bakeries I have been to.

  • Elizabeth Garnham

Lovely place, they have a great selection of baked goods. Taiyaki is the best thing you'll ever try in Chinatown and I would recommend getting them here. I would love to give Bake five stars but i found the lady on till was quite rude and abrupt.

  • R

One of my favourite places! They're so gorgeous and tasty, and we couldn't complain! Matcha ice cream is wow, and it's my favourite! The staff are lovely and use gestures to communicate as we are both Deaf. They're amazing! Highly recommend!

  • Sara Vaherbi

A discovery ! This Chinese bakery is wonderful! Too small unfortunately (we would like to find more choices there) but believe me, if you can, go for it! So delicious! We took a fluffy muffin and 3 pastries (2 black forests and one with

  • Irit Altshuler

We were too full to try anything more then the green tea ice-cream. The gimmick of the fish is very cool, and tasty. The ice-cream is not too sweet, perfectly balanced. Loved it, and would definitely try other things on my next visit.

  • Ben Quach

I got the green tea ice cream. Beautiful presentation, flavor was a bit lacking (couldn't really taste the green tea/matcha), but the fish pastry was delicious. I got some buns last time and they were pretty soft and fresh.

  • Anish Saxena (Anish)

The ice cream and the waffle actually tasted like fish! I could not have more than 2 bites and had to ultimately throw it... I seriously had to taste something else at another shop to get that taste out! The staff was ok.

  • David Chau

Bought pastries and buns from this shop three times. Excellent taste and quality. One downside was that baking parchment was unnoticeably stuck underneath the bun, making it quite easy to bite in if not first peeled off.

  • Ibrahim Ahmed

The staff are not nice, “the lady on the counter she was rood with us” In fact they have a nice looking ice cream “bubble and fish” it does not taste nice! And the raspberry they used was not washed! I

  • Ali Vidler

This place has beautiful little desserts and food that was delicious. Did I mention how great the prices are which makes it even better? To top it off they accept credit cards which was extra great!

  • T P

Had the green tea/matcha ice cream filled taiyaki - so yummy! Be aware the matcha flavour is strong so can be quite bitter. I'm intrigued by the matcha and vanilla mix, so would try that next time!

  • Sophie Spouge

Slices of cake were extremely delicious, we ordered the tiramisu and passion fruit cakes. £3.80 each. Good location - bit hot in the store if you go on a hot day. Other than that gorgeous cakes!

  • Tatiana Wu

Taiyaki with green tea ice cream is nice, however the staff broke my cookie stick and did not change it...And staff team is not nice at all...They look like zombie, no smile, no emotions~ …

  • Andrea Tobar

Really good match ice cream and the fish cone is nice and soft. Not too sweet so you can easily eat the whole thing. They had a good selection of breads as well that looked and smelled great.

  • Quynh Anh Tran

Good cake. However, I ordered and paid for 5 nutella taiyaki today, but they gave me 2 red bean taiyaki (£3.70 each) and 3 nutella (£4.20) ones. I only found out when I ate them later.

  • J and As Playtime

Quality soft serve ice cream in the iconic fish shaped wafer. Wafer had a buttery taste which is amazing and melts in your mouth. £3 for a single with vanilla matcha or mixed available

  • Wout van Os

Also has the bubblewrap waffle here, no queue, more limited options in toppings and ice cream though! The waffle also wasn't freshly made... Still wasn't bad! Very friendly staff!

  • Martina Hagenová

For me a little hight price, but the icecream was perfect and soft. They get my taste. And small Taiyaki were amazing, cute and enaugh fillong to not feal dry. Worth every penny

  • Jineshwar Kochar

Very good taiyaki. Ordered green tea flavour which was very strong, so a mixed flavour with vanilla is more recommended. Will get this next time for a 5-star experience :)

  • Carol Mcdonough

I went to get their matcha millet crepe cake, mainly for its aesthetic, and it was okay. I didn't like its soggy texture and it was a little lackluster for me in general.

  • Ada Obi

The mix ice-cream was delicious and they had a good variety of baked goods. The store was quite crowded so it did feel a bit overwhelming queuing and picking up my order

  • Cory Kaiser

Chinatown is one of the best places to visit in London. Ice cream waffle cone from Tong Tea was icing on the cake.

Been here a few times. My partner loves the Taiyaiki and I always get a bubble waffle. Both very tasty. Reasonable price. They also have more cakes and bread inside.

  • Mark Lunney

Finally found a place that sells red bean taiyaki in London, and they are just as good as Japan - highly recommended! Also love the ice cream in fish shaped cones.

  • Jenny

Great taiyaki - crunchy on outside but soft on inside. Generous amount of ice cream. Also the chocolate wafer straw complements the (really good) vanilla ice cream

  • Maria Agata De Benedictis

Ice cream with vanilla and green tea. The first one was very good but i didn't like the second one... I suggest you not to take green tea ice cream.

  • Mirko Lurz

  • Benjamim Cardoso

Great variety, lots of flavors. The ice-creams and chocolate fish-shape waffle were enough to make you willing to get in and see the rest.

  • Nath

The matcha taiyaki ice cream is sooo good. It was not too sweet. The ice cream is soft, creamy and the taiyaki is chewy crispy. Heaven...

  • Alex

Their taiyaki (waffle with custard shaped like fish) are as good as other places (I compared), but their personal is more friendly …

  • G G (邓施航)

Amazing bakery! Absolutely love the food and prices are cheap for London, plus the taiyaki ice cream was so good for my first time!!

Love the buns from this place. Love their crispy coconut buns and pork buns. Softest, tastiest and the best buns in Chinatown.

  • Steven Gutierrez

Amazing Chinese bakery and ice cream. Lots of sweet, savoury options and cute animal cakes. Perfect treat after a meal nearby.

  • Jakub Michalski

Food is nice, but they use so much plastic packaging! Most of the things on the shelves are packed into single-use plastic.

  • Labib Juned

Had to get the famous mixed Taiyakiya Green Tea and Vanilla ice cream. Also grabbed a pandan cake from there baker section.

  • arroma1990

I have tried the little baked fish filled with custard. The dough was nice, yet the custard was barely noticeable.
