Apthorp Pharmacy is an NYC gem! Even if you do not live on the UWS this feels like a local pharmacy and they easily service the entire city - and further with their option for overnight shipping via FedEx. I have been in touch with Apthorp regularly lately - in person and over the phone - and highly recommend them. Their Pharmacists and team members are patient, knowledgeable and kind. At one point, I probably called Apthorp 5 or 6 times in one day. One of their pharmacists, Jordan, was particularly wonderful to work with. He answered all of my questions, made sure I had everything I needed and even rushed to have an item delivered to me downtown (in just 30 minutes) when I realized I was missing it. And, Jordan shared the pharmacy department’s direct line in case I had any other questions. Nicole has also been great to work with and even called to confirm I had everything I needed ahead of a recent snowstorm. The Apthorp team makes it clear that they are available via phone, text, email - and even have pharmacists on call after business hours. I also appreciated that they called me when something was not covered by my insurance (which I knew) before they ran my card. Apthorp feels like a small, local pharmacy in the midst of a big city - in the best way. They are also offering the COVID vaccine and I was touched by how personal and thoughtful the team was to people coming in for their shots when I was there in person recently. Apthorp is a excellent option and I look forward to filling future prescriptions with them!

What a terrible experience I've had with Apthorp Pharmacy. It was so bad that I just finished telling my doctor so they could steer patients away in the future. I have missed two days of work so far waiting for their package which they never delivered because they had multiple clerical and administrative failures on their end. At first they didn't send the refrigerated medicine at all, and then they sent the refrigerated medicine to the wrong place. And I eventually had to borrow a car and drive an hour to retrieve it myself. It has been incredibly stressful working with them. Based on the stress and ringer they have put me through they don't deserve to be in business. Furthermore, they told me multiple times that I would be hearing from a supervisor and of course, I never did. Please take note and consider ordering your medications from elsewhere. They put me in a really bad situation when they knew it was time sensitive and they are unreliable and unaccountable.

I really wanted to like Apthorp pharmacy because I dislike the impersonal giants like CVS. However Apthorp service is mixed at best and doesn’t care about my business (read on). In order to get home delivery refills, you have to fill out an application for a “house account” which has to be accepted. What is this 1954? Anyway, I did it to support my local pharmacy and yet deliveries don’t show up and they can’t seem to do auto refill. Yesterday I refilled a prescription and it never showed up. I called and was told they didn’t send it because I needed an insurance re authorization. Why couldn’t they have called me and told me that? I told the woman that I am having recurring problems with their delivery and service and I came to them to support my neighborhood pharmacy. I said I may as well go to CVS. Her response “that’s fine, you can do that”.seriosuly??? If Apthorp cares, I called at 4:44 today. Jan 12. She should be fired.

On Christmas Eve, I came in to pick up an extremely time sensitive medication that needed to be taken that same evening. When I got to the counter, we found out that my doctors office hadn’t sent the prescription as promised. It was late in the afternoon and my clinic was already closed ( holiday hours). I was nearly reduced to tears out of fear and stress when Jordan Langro (pharmacist) came to the counter and took a look at my emails from my doctors office to confirm they’d planned to send the scrip to Apthorp. He wrote me a prescription on the spot. I have no idea what I’d have done without this kindness. Someone on call from my doctors office called me an hour later in a panic saying they’d sent the scrip to the wrong pharmacy. By then, everything was closed. Jordan is truly an amazing example of what a healthcare professional should be. I’m forever grateful.

I have only positive things to say about this pharmacy. I am from a different country and am still getting used to what navigating the healthcare system in the US, talking to multiple insurances/pharmacies to simply get meds can be like. The team at Apthorp, especially the pharmacist Mike, have been nothing but helpful! They were understanding of the time crunch I was under, as I needed my meds same day. They understood the issues I had been having with insurance and patiently suggested next steps. Ultimately, I went to them in person and they sorted everything out to the maximum extent possible from their side. I can’t thank them enough! BEST customer service experience! After picking up my medication from Apthorp, I was faced with the grueling experience of going through my insurance company and doctor to get reimbursed via my insurance after paying out of pocket. To my pleasant surprise, I was not on my own to figure this out. Jordan helped me navigate the full process, was EXTREMELY patient dealing with multiple calls with my insurance company, helped to make sure I was charged correctly and with the correct forms of payment, and was diligent with sharing all receipts to keep me up to date. I cannot say enough positive things. Additionally, every time I went to pick up my medication at Apthorp, all employees were so friendly and helpful. Apthorp is the best kept secret of the UWS!

I had a great experience with this pharmacy during a very difficult time. They went out of their way to ensure that I got my medications on time, which was very time sensitive, despite FEDEX dropping the ball and losing the medications somewhere along the way. After an entire lifetime going to the big box pharmacies of the world, i had no idea how wonderful and warm a pharmacy experience could be until i came here. Jordan, Michael, and the rest of the staff at Apthorp went above and beyond to provide me with an excellent and comforting experience! I was going through an emotional fertility process, and the whole pharmacy went above and beyond to make me feel cared for and comfortable. This was my regular pharmacy way back when when I was doing ART. They always wished me luck when I picked up my RX package. It remains my favorite. Family run, focused on clients' health. Had a puncture wound last night. Needed a Tdap booster today. Rohan & Dr Laurie helped get me in today (overriding the online vaccine system which has no same-day appointments). Dr. Laurie was assiduous in giving me all appropriate warnings and carefully screening my intake form to ensure I had no adverse reactions. This is NOT a big-chain, who-cares-about-you pharmacy. At Apthorp, everyone is polite, enthusiastic, and helpful. They show that they really care about your health and well-being!

Bill at the Apthorp pharmacy is a legend! He really came through for us last Friday. Hubby and I booked a last minute Jamaica getaway for the long weekend and only at 9 pm the night before did we realize I didn’t have enough medicine for the weekend. We were sad and ready to cancel but then I texted Apthorp. Their after hours service came through and Bill called me. Shortly after, I was meeting him at 10 pm for a personal handoff of my needed medication. For me, the most important thing about a pharmacy is the pharmacist. And the pharmacist who was on duty today was so kind and helpful and understanding and knowledgeable that I was blown away because I never expect that, especially being used to the indifferent and impersonal pharmacists at places like CVS. The pharmacist is in a position of power because they can help you or make things more difficult for you. This one took the time to talk to me and discuss what was going on and give me great advice, while also being compassionate about my situation and sincerely trying to help. I feel so grateful when I’m treated this way!

Called to get a prescription and spoke to what felt like a moody teen who i was keeping away from her phone. So bad it was quite funny TBH. When it was time to collect I was charged for the first time for needles and syringes, all the other pharmacies always add them either free or through the insurance, I don’t know tbh. Annoyingly I had to come back because the hadn’t given me the complete set of needles as my Dr had prescribed. Yep got charged again. Supper annoying. 3 stars overall because other times, although there are issues. I never feel ripped off like i did today.

Five weeks ago I was able to schedule a Covid vaccination at Apthorp Pharmacy. I received my first shot in January, the second one this week. Everything about the process was handled very smoothly and efficiently. The staff at Apthorp was friendly and helpful, had all the necessary paperwork ready for me and both visits were managed right on time, as scheduled. As an Upper West Side resident, I was very fortunate that I was able to accomplish my vaccinations locally in a full service pharmacy like Apthorp, where I have been a customer for many years.

So far, My experience at Apthorp has been reassuring during my fertility journey. Prompt communication and fast turnaround for pick up. A recent experience really set the bar for me. My bag with expensive medication was stolen. Not only did Apthorp tend me to after hours and offered to replenish my order last minute but Jordan went above and beyond by assisting me with pricing for the replacement. You simply do not get service and genuine care like that anymore, I’m so truly grateful to be assisted by this amazing team.

This was with out a doubt the only way I was able to get through the fertility process to freeze my eggs. Jordan, the pharmacist I mainly dealt with, went above and beyond anyone’s expectations. He literally hand delivered medication I needed quickly, as we live in the same neighborhood. I don’t think I could have done it without his helped. Every talked me through my first day of injections. Delivery was easy and seem less from the couriers too and the text system made everything quick and easy. Highly recommend!

Unfortunately we have had 2 recent extremely negative experiences with Apthorp. The first was a prescription that our son needs and Aprthop gave us an extremely hard time refilling the prescription. This is a prescription that my son has taken for months. They also are often out of stock of many medication’s. I will no longer be using this pharmacy and it’s very discouraging since I’ve been living on the upper West side for 20 years and they used to be a wonderful small local pharmacy. It’s turn south

When having dealt with medical issues for years (7), it is important to get support at every turn. The staff at Apthorp has been very easy to work with, especially with the text option for delivery and refills. They are open 365 days to make sure you can get what you need. I can't recommend Apthorp highly enough. Bill at Apthorp went above and beyond to assist me with fertility meds during my cycle of IVF- I was in a medication quandary, and he helped me trouble shoot and stayed a few mins after closing to make sure I had what I needed. The personalized care, professionalism, response time, prices, and problem solving prowess that I received from Apthorp are beyond compare. I would not go anywhere else for my fertility meds and I recommend them with full heart.

We can't say ENOUGH about the people at Apthorp! The pharmacists are incredibly knowledgeable, and in spite of the fact that they're really really busy, they always have time to jump on the phone and help make sure you understand the particulars about meds you're taking, contraindications, etc.. And the rest of the staff are always SO friendly! Ines is wonderful, and friendly and helpful and thorough... true of everyone there, basically, and we're really grateful!

I have to get my prescriptions here because it’s the only compound pharmacy in the area. But it is legitimately the worse experience every. single. month. There is zero communication, the refills are always late, the delivery never shows up. I have to call 5-6 times in a week just to get 1 prescription filled. I can’t explain how many negative experiences I have had and refrained from writing a review. But here we are. Avoid this place unless you absolutely can’t.

Wow! The most professional and kind group of people I have encountered not only in a pharmacy but shopping in general. Incredibly communicative (call, text, after hours help, delivery). The manager on call made an after hours delivery for us. I’m impressed and thankful. I wish all businesses were this professional, kind and personable. Everywhere I went I would have a hard time with my diabetes medication on back order, Jordan not only had the medication in stock but also shipped it right to my door!!! Best pharmacy experience! I'm from Florida but frequently have to have medications shipped to me. They are prompt, organized, and convenient. They have a text pharmacy service which is great when it's hard to talk on the phone while little humans are running around or when you're working. They always know it's me texting requesting shipment and they ship next-day. I wish all pharmacies would adopt their way of conducting business.

I had the best experience with this pharmacy. I had a specialty prescription that I needed urgently, but it was not covered by insurance. The pharmacist took his time to explain our options and help us find a solution that didn’t cost us an arm and a leg. The pharmacist Bill went above and beyond to make sure I got my prescription after closing hours. I was coming from Long Island on a Saturday and would not make it in time to pick up my prescription. Bill offered to bring it home with him and I was able to meet him outside his apartment at 9pm. I needed to take my medication that night so it was urgent that i had it. Bill literally saved the day and I am so thankful to him!

Using Anthorp Pharmacy has been a fantastic experience. When I discovered my Follistim cartridge was empty in the afternoon, Michael graciously stayed at the pharmacy after close to provide me with medication. Michael went above and beyond to ensure I received my full evening dose. This level of service and concern for their patients is exceptional. Dan from Apthorp was excellent! I had a last minute emergency on a Sunday evening when all specialty pharmacies were closed but my friend recommended I call Apthorp, which she uses and loves, and I was pleasantly surprised about how fast they responded to my crisis, filled my prescription all within minutes of closing their shop. They were caring and attentive, and made me feel at ease. I highly recommend!

This pharmacy is great. Yes they do make mistakes occasionally, since there are so many staff working in the very busy environment, but every time they fix it perfectly, and I have no complaint so far. When you buy many medicines (for instance, over $2000 worth of medicines at a time like me), they’ll pack them up for you, but immediately check what you got in the bag, carefully check the receipts.

I brought my grandmother to the pharmacy for her Covid vaccine and the pharmacist Jordan was incredible. He eased my grandmothers nerves about the shot and as my grandmother says”she didn’t even feel it he gave such a good shot”. He was professional and kind, went back for her second vaccine a few weeks later and was happy to see he was the one there that day. Overall it was a great experience.

I cannot say enough about Mike the pharmacist. He goes above and beyond to help his patients. His kindness and compassionate attitude is so appreciated. The care of the pharmacists here is really fantastic. They recently ran a vaccine clinic and it was so fast and easy. I was in and out quickly and it was very organized. I went to Dr. Langro for my vaccine and he made it painless! It’s nice to have personalized care like this. Can’t recommend enough - plus it’s a local business and I’d much rather support them as part of our community!

Seriously best pharmacy ever. I realized I had forgotten to order my trigger shot late in the evening and was required to take the shot for my treatment that night. The doctors office was closed. I sent an urgent text to the pharmacy at 10pm and Mike trekked over from New Jersey to get me the medication at 11:30pm. Thank you Mike and apthorp! I seriously so so appreciate it!

Wonderful pharmacy. Very friendly and helpful staff; Px always ready when needed; lovely environment. They were so helpful with meds for the medical procedure I was undergoing. I live on the UWS, so the location was also convenient! Was so grateful to have them, versus having to use a mail order pharmacy (plus Apthorp's rates are lower than mail order).
