Please disregard the negative reviews. This is truly an incredible hospital which shines above many others, including some private. Please read my lengthy review below.. I have an array of serious health issues which have made my high risk pregnancy extremely challenging and without question the stress and struggle has been heavily reduced thanks to the ongoing professional, genuine, care and compassionate support I continue to receive from the multidisciplinary team assisting me as well as all the nurses, midwives, doctors, consultants, surgeons, specialists etc that have been involved in my care. I think sometimes the public forget that the people behind the scrubs are also human. Without their decision to join the medical profession we wouldn't have any help with our health requirements so they honestly deserve a lot more respect and acknowledgement for the important work they do. Please also be mindful that the negative reviews may have been a once off occurrence of human error or just a negative perception from those particular reviewers who simply have unrelenting standards that cannot be met. This is a public hospital that I can personally see and feel are constantly trying to find a way to serve as many of us as possible, without all the hefty fees that private charge, however, not everyone is grateful for this, nor can everyone be pleased in life. When it comes to our health, as individuals know our bodies better than anyone and it's our job to speak up if we disagree with any diagnosis, prognosis or advice given and seek a second opinion if need be. I would highly recommend The Royal Women's Hospital without question!! In the event you are trying to decide where to have your baby/babies, I assure you this is the best hospital in Melbourne for all that pregnancy entails as there is nothing they can't handle! A big thanks to everyone who works here.. from the cleaners through to high end Management and every staff member in between.. I am so grateful for all you have done for me! The attention to detail, right down to the smallest thing, alongside the exceptional level of service and all the help you continue to provide is just phenomenal. Thank you all so much and keep up the great work! :) :) :)

Had my first baby at the womens and wasn’t a great experience and let COVID take the blame for it. Had my second baby here and can confirm COVID was not the problem - the problem is the midwives who lack empathy towards new mothers, don’t listen to your concerns or pain, patronise you or say you’re too emotional and when you ask for help they say you can scan the QR the wall that will help you. Sorry I’m interrupting your time and asking for help. Sorry for thinking that you provide good quality healthcare. Don’t bother contacting the patient advocate service as they don’t see your problem and issue either and have the staff and hospitals backs. The only positive experience here was my time in the NICU Unit with a lovely midwife called Jacqui - without her I think this hospital would have broken me. Georgia from the Strathmore Clinic and Lacey and the girls from DPU this hospital needs more of you. Definitely won’t be back!

Awful reception. I called about my referral for surgery, which was rejected because I "live too far away". So I called and asked what to do and was met with such attitude from the receptionist I spoke to. I've already heard a few stories from family and friends about how awful staff treated them. Absolutely abhorrent. Your reception staff need sensitivity training. It doesn't matter if they're tired, they're dealing with real human beings and need to show some professionalism instead of snarky attitude. I haven't even been here, but sure as hell don't feel welcomed or even feel the want to try. Edit: I did call the liaison team and reported my complaints to a lady on the other end of the phone. She was nicer than anyone I had spoken to from the hospital. I suggested your receptionists receive some sensitivity training and the lady I was speaking agreed with me.

Went into labour and left to wait 5 hours / until I was 8cm dilated with my baby’s head part way out before I was sent to the birthing suite. I was only moved because I started vomiting blood. My baby was facing upwards at birth because nobody checked me / the status of how my labour progressed the entire time I was at the hospital. This made labour excruciating . Pain medication was refused - not even Panadol. I heard the nurse say to the midwife when I was finally sent to the birthing suite that I was being a drama queen. Better treatment would have been received at a vet clinic. My experience was nothing shy of traumatic. No woman ever should be mocked for being in labour. It beggars belief that rather than checking how my labour progressed I was dismissed and left to suffer. The hospital is not fit to operate.

I got my cysts and endo removed here at the Royal Women’s two days ago! The transition from admission to surgery was very smooth and everyone was so kind. I met Dr Helen prior to and post surgery. She explained everything so well and was reassuring to have her next to me as I passed out in preparation for the surgery! And of course, nurse Liv and nurse Grace took such great care of me! They checked on me frequently and made sure I had everything I needed. Thank you Dr. Helen, nurse Liv, and nurse Grace for making me feel at home! I got discharged yesterday and have already made great progress! Can’t thank you all enough!

My wife delivered our boy here . Thanks to all the doctors , midwives and support staff who took good care of mum and bub. This team of midwives is full of angels. They handle everyone patiently with utmost care , love, respect and dignity . Special thanks to Danielle, Alexa , Steff, Nina . For future mums who want to deliver here, 1. Please note that it’s a very busy hospital and sometimes there ll be delays ( only because there are other patients who need the attention) 2. Shared care will not allow partners to stay overnight .

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Could not recommend more. For my pregnancy and birth the Royal Women’s team were outstanding. Every staff member at all times we’re professional, friendly and supportive. My delivery team in the birthing centre were amazing, making the experience so special and most importantly knowing my baby and I are in the best hands. It takes amazing people to work in this field and the Royal Women’s has the best there is. A huge thank you to the team and those involved I had the pleasure to be cared for by.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the crew who provided immense support during a difficult time of my missed miscarriage. Their presence and unwavering emotional support were truly invaluable to me. I cannot adequately express my appreciation for the compassion and kindness I received. I would like to extend a massive thank you to the exceptional nurses, Monica and Kylie, for their outstanding care and support.

I have nothing but good words to the hospital and it's staff for the outstanding service I received when I delivered my baby. They swiftly responded to the immediate turn of events and the sudden complications that arose just before I gave birth. The staff were all amazing, friendly, and professional. I have never encountered such excellent care. Highly recommended.

Our baby girl was just born here and we couldn't be more happy with the care everyone provided for us. Everyone was extremely professional, empathetic and knowledgeable. If you ever start to lose faith in humanity, go and have your baby delivered at the Women's. Please give all of the midwives a raise or a statue.
