The Northern comes in for a lot of criticism, some deserved, much not really. When it comes to hospital care the only hospital I trust in this region is the Northern. I have had several admissions since April for various problems such as rapid Atrial Fibrilation, Pneumonia, and Gallbladder surgery. On every occasion they treated me with respect, even though several times I had very long waits in a very busy and overcrowded Emergency. My most recent was my Gallbladder. I had called an ambulance after being in severe pain for 10+ hours. It took me to the Austin where I waited another 5 hours with no acknowledgement from any of the nursing staff, and no pain relief. Told I had been triaged as lowest priority so it could be many hours before being seen, I left. A day later took myself by taxi to the Northern. I waited in Emergency for roughly an hour, and was given pain relief. Was told it could be another 6 or 7 hours to be seen, I was happily surprised to be called in after just 4 hours. Once taken in I was seen by the nurse immediately. Not that long after a Doctor saw me and said I needed a CT scan. Waited around 30 minutes for that to happen. Then admitted to Short Stay to wait on more tests and to get a bed. I have found this to be my usual experience. Might be a long wait, but once seen things really get moving. Once admitted, the nursing staff are incredible. I find them to be overall very caring and happy to keep you informed of what is happening. Another shout-out should be for the food. The soups here are really, really good. Meals are not very imaginative, but overall they are fairly good. A huge improvement on what they were 2-3 years ago when they were inedible. Most main meals seem to have a roast option, a casserole option, vegetarian option, and then some generic choices. Overall I totally believe that the Northern has worked very hard to rectify what used to be a terrible reputation into one of being a very competent and caring hospital. I have even had a follow-up call after discharge to see how I am doing. For the record I am a public patient, no private health insurance. June 2023: After having numerous admissions since September 2022, I no longer consider the Northern Hospital good. They now seem to have the policy of take no responsibility, and get the patient out soon as possible. Regardless of whether the patient is ready or not. And with no supports organised, in fact they expect the patient to organise that themselves after going home. The ER experience is back to the old days of just sit in the waiting room for many, many hours. The in-hospital experience has also gone backwards. The food is inedible generally. They make mistakes with the meal orders constantly. The nursing staff are generally good, but so over-stretched you can regularly wait 30+minutes when you call for a nurse. Overall I cannot recommend this hospital. You are better off at the Austin, or at a private hospital if you can afford it.

We had to visit northern hospital two days ago. My wife had a sudden pain started in the morning and became unbearable by 4 pm. Went to see Local GP who then referred to emergency for further investigation and tests. Reach hospital around 6.50pm Registered with in 10 mins Asked to be seated then called back in about hour by triage , they asked few questions and sent back to sit , Another hour sitting waiting.. Then a nurse called us in , she repeated all same questionbloo and sent back to waiting room to sit and wait until called by a doctor. Then called back in by a doctor around 10 past 1am ( after four hours). She took us to a room, repeated all same questions and said they will be doing another blood test which can take 2-3 hours to come back with results (this blood test should have been done at first point ).And a chest x-ray was also to be done . At this point we had been very upset and my wife said leave it and just go back home . We asked doctor we can’t wait anymore and want to go home. She advised get the x-ray done at least which will not take long and they will take another blood sampl and she left the room , we were assuming she will come back with some one to take the sample and organise the x-ray. Another 40 mins gone unattended without any update how long it will take again. I went to the counter to see one of the staff member and ask what’s going on and the answer was: we are very busy and can’t tell how long it will take to o take another blood sample and x-ray . Had some arguments as we thought we have been overlooked. Then the friendly staff member said if you can’t wait you can leave , we then again started waiting, then a nurse came in aroun 2.15 am and took another blood sample. I once more time asked the staff if we can at least know how long it will take to get the x-ray done. But the answer was it could be 8-10 hours waiting they have 140 patients in que to get the radiology test done. At the end we just decided to go back home and because we were just feeling we getting overlooked and helpless. One of the staff even said that it’s our choice if we want to leave or stay and no need to come to the hospital if we can’t wait . At around 2.40am we came back home without getting any treatment. I did write a long story but this is what happened with us and think is happening with most of the people going there. Think before going there better go somewhere else or stay home

ATTN EMERGENCY SPECIALIST DR ''JAMES HAYES'', STAY CLEAR FROM THIS MAN!!!!! lets say a month or so ago my mum admitted herself into the northern due to a long lasting cough she had, they do an analysis, mind you she was already showing all symptoms for cancer and yet no one in the department could tell, goes to show all their incompetences ,i typed in cancer symptoms in google and took me 4 minutes to know cancer symptoms, these people did a doctors degree and still can't manage to know what lung cancer symptoms are. anyway she gets discharged with with a prescription to pain killers, antibiotics and Panadol, saying its an infection. they also booked her in for a lung check up in the next week or so to come back to hospital and see how things are going, she returns to work and collapses, gets rushed to hospital and DR JAMES HAYES attends her, really I felt disgusted even typing Dr before that devils name, this was his comment to her for calling the ambulance , DID YOU CALL THE AMBULANCE TO FAST TRACK YOUR LUNG APPOINTMENT AND JUMP THE QUE? like really??. aren't you doctor that's sworn by an oath to help people and gain their trust with you, all my mother wanted was HELP that's all nothing else, and you shoved that in her face, blood tests were laid out and refused she got discharged AGAIN!!! LIKE WOW seriously, I can't believe this. mind you she's arrived twice, by the second time wouldn't you think something is wrong? she was clearly showing symptoms for lung cancer, continuous cough, swollen face, trouble breathing etc, yet still couldn't understand what's going on, like what a circus. So she gets discharged and sent back home. couple of days go by and she collapses again at home, pretty much to the point where she had a stroke, gets rushed into hospital, where finally ohhhh noooo okay something is wrong here, 700ml of fluid was drained from her heart and lungs with being diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. please if JAMES HAYES ATTENDS YOU PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM HIM HES A CRIMINAL AND SHOULDN'T BE A HOLDING THE TITLE AS DOCTOR, JUST ANOTHER SCUMBAG THAT COMES TO WORK AND WORRIES ONLY ABOUT HIS PAY CHECK. TIME TO WRAP THINGS UP, YOURE THREAT TO SOCIETY!!!!

I am given zero stars for this Northern Epping hospital. Please take strict action against this hospital. The habit of lying in this hospital took the life of an innocent person. Please, my request is here: justice should be done to my fiancée and my family. My fiancée was admitted to this hospital on April 26, 2023. His age is only 39. When I called him, he told me I had a gallbladder problem. but in an emergency hospital operation, the hospital doctor had performed a throat surgery at night. I don't know why they did this surgery. After surgery, I was there, and the doctor’s team was keeping him sleepy. I called the hospital, but they always told me he was on rest; they never talked with my fiancée. I had tried so many times to contact him, but all the time they said, "You are in India." If you want him to come to Australia, all staff are too cruel, including doctors. After a long time, I talked to my fiancée on his phone and had a little talk with him, but he was not able to speak properly. Doctors said that my fiancée has liver failure and kidneys that are not working, but he is stable now. Later, my fiancée shifted to another ward from the ICU; One day, I contacted the doctor, hoping he had received my call. I had already asked the doctor if you wanted a liver transplant. I am the donnor of my fiancee. You have to save his life as soon as possible. Doctors and staff said that he is fine, and his liver and kidneys are both stable. There is no need now. I have also told them that if there is a need for a liver transplant, I am ready to donate my liver. But the hospital doctors didn't pay attention to even a single thing of mine; they always used to tell me that it was okay and that we were doing our best from our side. But I did not know that the doctors and nurses staff were lying to me. In the hospital, staff never used to wear masks and gloves; the atmosphere of the hospital was also not good. They were not telling the truth. If you want to die, go to the northern hospital.

I am a casual worker and cannot afford to miss work for any reason if I want to keep my family fed but one morning I had absolutely no choice. I was in extreme pain and I went to the hospital here, they were extremely busy and while the staff seemed polite and they were definitely working hard, they told me I had unknown masses in my abdomen, could see something was wrong but didn't have any beds. It took them roughly 7 hours to ascertain that there was definitely something seriously wrong which is completely understandable. They asked me to wait in the waiting room for observation and they would bring my prescription out, only for me to find out they had discharged me without saying a word to me and I would be expected to re-enter the queue which was at a 15 hour wait time to get the prescription or any help, I was literally writhing in pain despite having been dispensed a pain killer during my examination. I have had kidney stones before, and this was not as serious as that, if kidney stones are a 10, this was an 8 but I couldn't stand straight, or even breathe freely as the pain was so intense at times. I feel like I was written off as unimportant and expendable. Meanwhile, next to me had been a very attractive uni student with a skin rash who was being doted on because she was too embarrassed to attend class with a rash on her upper arm. This was a blow to my physical and mental health. I do not have particularly good confidence to start with, but being tossed out without any help when I had finally turned to someone for help really hurt. Being made to feel like my very life and well being were entirely unimportant.... no one should be made to feel expendable... I gritted my teeth through the pain and went to see my GP just to find out I needed surgery straight away to remove a large ovarian cyst as well as a second surgery to remove my gallbladder.... I am infuriated that it cost me so much money and time to be turned away as if nothing was wrong.

Went there with a broken wrist, rolled ankle and bruised right hip. They put me in a neck brace for no known reason, ignored the hip and did X-rays on both wrists and ankles, along with a CT scan for my spine, even though there was nothing wrong with it. Was told my wrist would need surgery because it was broken in several pieces and appeared deformed. They sent me home in a splint instead. Returned 10 days later and was put in a cast for 4 more weeks. "What about the surgery?" I asked. They had decided it wasn't required. They booked me for physio in 4 weeks after removal of the cast but by then it was too late. I had major symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome and the physio only wanted to do a telehealth appointment. This is where the red flags were raised for me. Returned in 4 weeks to remove the cast, wrist is still in several pieces and feels badly broken. They sent me home anyway with no further follow up x-ray. I returned in another 4 weeks with severe nerve issues in my hand with major carpal tunnel syndrome and did a follow up x-ray and they'd said that they needed to put the cast back on due to how badly broken the wrist was. When I enquired as to why they didn't do the surgery or a follow up x-ray after the cast was first removed they had no answer. Later that same day I returned to the emergency dept to have the cast removed as my hand turned completely blue due to loss of circulation and my hand turning numb, then aching all over due to the carpal tunnel situation not being looked at. At this point I looked how to remove the cast on YouTube and proceeded to take it off myself. I've since sought my own private treatment and physio in the hopes that one day my injury will heal and the nerve damage will cease. Unfortunately, my story would be one of many which are similar. With our current level of under funded hospitals and resources stretched to breaking point, it's unlikely that treatment plans would go very well at all.

Either you read my review here or are browsing through the numerous terrible ratings of how workers themselves vouch to say this is a worse hospital they’ve worked at, people claiming that their experiences are better in a 3rd world country’s or how there are legitimate deaths in the waiting room of the emergency room whilst waiting for treatment. My girlfriend and I rocked up at 10pm for treatment for her nerve pain + endometriosis (a condition/illness thats meant to be one of the most excruciating pains a human can feel) until 6:30am where we were only given a prescription to pain meds. The doctor came in after 8.5 hours, pressed on her stomach a few times and was like “yep! go see a GP!”. She was only given a singular Panadol to endure those hours. She was shivering the whole time and could barely stand by the end of it and was only given a warmed blanket when requested but then said that they had ran out of warm blankets? Was told to lie down on the chairs because they didn’t have a singular bed left in the hospital for her to lie down in. Not to mention during our wait we experienced a woman collapsing onto the floor and being told rudely to get up off the floor and wait your turn like everyone else after she communicated she was in searing pain - she was throwing up constantly all night. Another person was unable to stand and giving off cold sweats whilst being held up by his girlfriend only to be questioned about their legitimacy for 30 minutes until they finally got let in. Waiting room staff was unnecessarily rude to my girlfriend and others all night giving attitude for seemingly no apparent reason. Once we were finally in there was bandaids and trash absolutely everywhere. It breaks my heart reading other’s reviews that people have lost their loved ones because of poor management and staffing. I’d love recommend this hospital only for emergencies but I can’t even do that.

Debra Bourne “Chief Operating Officer” should be ashamed of her standards of practice when it comes to actually caring for people. The northern hospital’s emergency department is a total disaster! Third-world country standard and I’m Speaking from personal experience’s! If the northern hospital actually got evaluated properly alongside our other public hospitals in Victoria it would be shut down immediately! Full stop! Why do our tax payed dollars fund $500000 to a $1000000 a year wage /job for a “Chief Operations Officer” who can’t get the most important part of any hospital operating “The EMERGENCY department!” Working properly?! Shame on the Board of Directors Ms Jennifer Williams AM Board Chair Mr Phillip Bain Dr Andrea Kattula Mr Peter McDonald Mr Domenic Isola Ms Anna MacLeod Ms Linda Rubinstein Mr John Watson Dr Sherene Devanesen Where is the accountability! The Northern Hospital Emergency department is known across Victoria, by tax paying Victorians as a place to go and die not receive help as they will give you Panadol and leave you in emergency for days! Not hours! Days! Disgusting and shame on the board for allowing such an inhuman operational system to even operate let alone call themselves a place of help when someone is desperate need for health emergency situations! This negligence is towards our most vulnerable people, who are in life threatening situations, looking for emergency health support yet obviously the COO and the Board of Directors of the northern hospital don’t seem to think that this part of a hospital is important! Or do they actually care?? If they cared this wouldn’t be happening full stop! Get your act together! Start with accountability! Then I recommend the northern takes time to properly evaluate how all the other emergency departments across all the other hospitals in the state of Victoria actually get it right!

This review is regarding the complete and utter lack of professionalism displayed by the main reception worker Emel Kolik (Mel) on 25/10/2022, at approximately 5pm. She was extremely rude, and even went as far to insinuate that I was lying. My father has been in this hospital for over a week, which currently has a 2 visitor limit, except when permission is granted for additional visitors. I called the ward beforehand and spoke to the nurse looking after my father and requested permission to have more than 2 visitors today, which was granted before my arrival. Once I arrived at the main desk to go in, Mel told me it wasn't reflected on the system, and to my shock, proceeded to state with an attitude that my family 'ALWAYS' have more visitors going in! This was not the case. She called the nurse in charge who was not made aware by the nurse I spoke to. Despite my efforts to explain to Mel exactly who I spoke with, she did not consider mentioning this detail to the nurse in charge, and made it look like I was trying to be mendacious to get in. When I expressed my disappointment about her comment suggesting my family always got away with more visitors, she preceded to claim that she never said this, and that it was the nurse in charge who made this comment. However, Mel had made this comment before the call even occurred. When I asked her to tell me how many times in the past we have had additional visitors without permission, she was unable to give me any information and appeared to be surprised that I confronted her about the false claims. I will be making a formal complaint about this obnoxious behaviour with the hope that she will not treat anyone else like this again. With the the extremely low overall ratings for this hospital, it's no surprise that individuals of this calibre are employed here.

I attend the ED on Thursday 7/7/23 at around 730pm with stomach pain. It was quite busy. I got accepted at about 10pm, receive a bed at 1130pm, and was admitted at 430am. I stayed in the surgical ward (ward 16 I believe) for 4 days. They were going to operate on me however they were patient as the tested me and watched for results. Thanks be to God I was able to avoid surgery and slowly recovered. No one likes hospitals. And once your in there, it’s hard to feel good or enjoy anything. Whenever your in pain or sick it’s hard to tolerate anyone or anything. It’s incredibly difficult waiting when you want answers. But the nurses, doctors, and surgeons refused to rush anything. They took their time as the problem solved my issues, making sure they got all the facts before making any decisions. It certainly wasn’t a good experience, but the staff were patient, calm, caring, experienced and knowledgeable. And i think it’s important to seperate how I felt vs how I was treated. Because I was treated very well despite feeling incredibly terrible while there. I’m not out of the woods yet. They have given me many follow up tests and appointments to continue to treat and diagnose my issue. I’m grateful to the staff and hospital, and thankful for access to free health care (even if the system is not perfect). I’d recommend the Northern.

I understand things get busy, but there really needs to be an improvement/ change to how you handle mental health issues. I went in today at 1:45, when I got called to finish triage, I tried to explain that I had a wound that needed stitching. The lady at the desk, asked if it was superficial so I explained I had to get stitches a couple of weeks ago, and this wound was worse then that one. She then asked me once again, if it was superficial. I said no, it’s deep. I was then there for four hours waiting, not one check in, update, communication. So so many people with twisted ankles and stomach bugs who came after me got called through. I went to the info desk and said I understood they were very busy, but I asked how much longer the wait would be. The man asked what I was there for, I said stitches and he just chuckled and said well your going to be waiting a long time. Do you understand how hard it is already to go and ask for help? To actually seek support? I waited another half hour before leaving, becuase I honestly felt like no one took me seriously and I wasn’t going to get any help. Really disappointing, I used to go to sunshine hospital who would have the same wait times, but would check in and give you a direct answer if you asked where you were on the list. I’ll be going back there from now on.

I wouldn't usually be one for giving a place like a hospital a bad review but I wasn't happy with the way I was treated when I came here. I got thrown off a horse and fractured my wrist when I came to the emergency department, and I understand that all emergency rooms are busy, so I won't complain about having to wait. But the first nurse I encountered asking about my reason for being there was extremely rude, and an old, tall male nurse who was with me for almost my entire stay was awful. He seemed almost annoyed that I was there, and at one point he even stopped giving me painkillers to watch a video on his phone with another staff member. I must say at least, the two female doctors who clicked my wrist back into place were lovely. When I came back four days later for my operation to have plates and screws inserted, the anaesthetist poked around my body with a needle for 5 minutes straight because she couldn't find a vein and I started to black out. The food and the ward staff were great, however. Jenny, the nurse on shift, was knowledgable and friendly. I know your emergency room staff are under a lot of stress but it does not pay to be kind.

At the Northern there is a lack of empathy or professionalism towards patients. In the ER waiting room, I witnessed one of the staff talk rudely and loudly towards a very Ill man of another cultural background. Talking loudly does not send messages across easier. There needs to be change in the cultural competency of staffing. This lack of professionalism extended towards the reception area as I had one of the staff essentially degrade “Nurses on call” advice given to me. They are trained medical professionals too. I understand the importance of promoting other aspects within the hospital but do not belittle other important resources. Unfortunately, wait times are incredibly long due to the catchment area. I had waited over five hours in the ER. Through observation, there were some nurses and staff that spoken to patients with care, compassion and sympathy. One of the nurses, sat down beside the patient (down to her level) and spoke with clarity and care. The doctor I met with was fantastic; he was clear, thorough and respectful. These practices are imperative so the public can leave the service feeling respected and acknowledged.

Terrible experience with the northern hospital While 41 plus 3 days pregnant with the first child had so much contractions so much pain, coming to the hospital they sent me back home. Than finally on the third day I told them I’m not going anywhere while I was already 7 centimeters dilated they gave me 3 injections to my leg and one epidural to my back I was so exhausted they broke my water and kept blaming me for it because your water has been broken we need to take you to c section, I was not even prepared and with so much different tablets and injections they gave me and my baby panic. My babies heartbeat and my temperature Was raised a lot ended up in the c section. After coming out of the surgery at 7 pm every doctor, nurse and midwife’s that I called out for help to show me breast feed and I had pain nobody cared and seemed like they were all forced to work. My baby kept crying there was no one to help me, as I was first time mum. Please careful which hospital you get referred to this is not fair not being treated equally. Every time I was asking questions they were slamming the door on me and so much more………): 0 star

I went to tg the Emergency Department of the Northern Hospital in Epping. After they took my details and medical condition where I had very bad pain in my right elbow that was at 1pm and I was still in the waiting room at 6pm, I went to the window and asked how much longer before I was called, personally and she said that I should be next so I went and sat down and 5 more people had been called in then another person was called well that was the straw that broke the camels back so got up and walked out. It took me nearly an hour to get home then I got a call from a nurse who asked if I was still in waiting room to which I replied I could not wait anymore as my back was sore from sitting on seat in waiting area, This was at 7pm that I received that call. The problem I have is that people were coming into the Emergency up to 4 hours after I arrived and they were all seen to and gone home. They really need to lift there game as this is not good enough.

Worst experience in the Birthing suite, It was my 39 weeks pregnancy , i was there for a Balloon induction. I had a high risk pregnancy with GD . But even with the high risk pregnancy a midwife (not a doctor ) was assigned for a balloon induction. The booked time for the procedure was 2pm but the a midwife started the procedure around 4 pm. She failed to put the ballon in a proper place in first time and caused excessive bleeding and unbearable pain. She tried one more time which triggered more bleeding but failed again. After failing a couple of time she called another midwife to try one more time which added more pain and bleeding. And again another midwife also couldn’t put it in a proper place. I asked for a doctor to proceed further but the midwife told me that the doctor is not available and forced me to consider another option of induction. Which left me with excessive bleeding for a whole night.

I came in with a back injury via ambulance, the paramedics were great, kept my anxiety levels low and talked to me about my favourite band, the hospital is clearly overun and understaffed, they are trying their best.. after about 2 hours I had an MRI, 2 Hours later I was taken to a ward with the nicest nurse I've ever met ( Crystal deserves a pay rise) the food was decent for dinner, breakfast was a typical breakfast. The physio saw me first thing in the morning and referred me to ongoing support. Now just awaiting another referral to a specialist and I'm out of here. I can safely say that whilst some people might not have a great experience, this seems like a typical hospital trying it's best with what they have. Safely and happily discharged! The doctor was great, the team was lovely and they even asked about pronouns and gender. Thank you Ward 6 team!

Made me wait 12 hours when I was in there with chest pains and breathing problems, except I just had back surgery two weeks before so I cannot sit, and would not give me a bed, ended hurting myself lying on the cold floor for 12 hours. Then they forgot to take the needle out of my arm. It was left in there then I paid $120 home for an uber and when I got home they threatened me with the police if i didn’t get an uber back and have a nurse take it out. This was already 1am. Again it didnt matter to them I just had major back surgery and cannot sit per the surgeon . I just took the needle out myself, I also lost my opiates there. To be fair the staff were all nice apart from that, unlike most hospitals in Melbourne, but unfortunately they were utterly incompetent and ineffectual and the report they wrote for my GP wasn’t even correct or factual.

  • Maryam Moazami

Very bad experience: The ambulance paramedic highly insisted to take my 5 y/o daughter, who had an asthma attack, to this hospital despite my extreme dissatisfaction in our previous visit as it was the closest. However, the history repeated itself again. We waited in the hospital for 6 hours without receiving any special care and treatment or even being tested for Covid. I need to say that in their interactions with others, the nurses and the doctors were caring but this hospital so disorganised, understaffed and disappointing that I won’t let even my dead body to be taken there next time. The two stars ⭐️⭐️ go to those caring nurses and doctors but the hospital is extremely mismanaged, even much worse than developing / underdeveloped countries. Update: We left the hospital in the morning to see the GP in the morning despite all the long wait.

Horrible night shift midwives and nurses in the maternity ward. Absolutely disgusting experience I will never give birth in this hospital again. They’re rude they talk outside your door about you, they take their time to respond to your call during the night. They tell you off if you ask for help. A nurse put a needle into my tissue instead of my vein and told me I’m screaming for no reason. Until the other nurse noticed my hand swell up and took it out, now my hand is stained green. They made me walk on my second night after a first time c section along a far corridor to make the bottle . There’s too many other things I had a bad experience here I won’t name names of the midwives but SHAME ON YOU ALL SOMEONE INVESTIGATE THESE MATERNITY WORKERS ESSPECIALLY THE NIGHT SHIFT THERES WAY TOO MANY CONPLAINTS INVESTIGATE!!!!!!!!!

My dad and brother has passed away from due to the negligence of northern hospital. The hospital has been so unsupportive and have lied about eveything when they should be upfront with the family members . My. Brother that died of the age of 39 they kept saying he was going to get better then the doctor said he had . Caught pneumonia at the last stage when they should of isolated him in the first place and they the staff members weren't wearing proper masks they should of taken precautions as a health care worker, also they didn't even try to put him into icu when he got very unwell because of so called. Pnemonia he caught from. The hospital germs they said to me, This hospital tries to play god and it is very disgusting, I'm am very unhappy with northern hospital they already have alot of deaths where they should be investigated.

Shoutout to the nurse that looked after me, you were absolutely kind and I enjoyed the way you were passionate for your job & looked after me. The overall hospital experience was just so messy, legit the last place you would want to die in honestly. I waited 3-4 hours to be seen by a nurse/doctor only to be sent back out into waiting room because they had the wrong patient details. There were people that came in after me who already went in and the people at ED Check-in were like “Yes that unfortunately happens”. How is that fair for any of the patients here? There was a poor guy with heart & chest issues who was waiting for 5 hours. I had to wait 1.5 hrs for results in the waiting room despite not being placed on a bed too like?? I definitely won’t be coming back & will stick with the Royal Melb or St Vincents.

  • Vincent Taouk

Dead set, I'd rather die than returning to this hospital. I've been to this hospital 3 times in the past three years. Each and every single time I've spent over 6 hours in the emergency room. Not once, not one single time have I made it to a room to see a doctor. Not once. If this wasn't poor, then I don't know what is!!! Tonight, I was vomiting blood. Yes, bloody blood. And I was still not seen. Do you have to die before a doctor see you just to confirm your death?? By God almighty I'll rather die than returning to this hospital. 0/10!! Where the hell is Daniel Andrews who claimed he was going to "fix" the hospital mess that he actually started?? This is pathetic! Absolutely pathetic!!! My dog will get more care than I a human would get in this disgraceful hospital!!! Never again, bloody never again!!!

The staff are nice. The waiting times are beyond ridiculous, expect 8-12 hours to be seen by a doctor to the point where you are about to pass out from fatigue. This is suppose to be emergency service. God help us we have such bad health care it’s such a joke. They sent me home after spending 10 hours in emergency because they couldn’t do an ultrasound for a blood clot, advised me to come weekday to do one. I came in Tuesday sat for another 5 hours the doctor told me sorry they forgot to call you they are closed now. Keep in mind this is for a blood clot in my leg. Being young I can take the pain but if I was 50 -70 and in care of this hospital that frightens me, how we are being treated, now iv left the hospital and have a clot in my leg I don’t know what to do about it. Feeling helpless

I came in this morning at my lowest feeling absolutely miserably ill. The admin and nurses were extremely helpful and patient (I could not speak a word having lost my voice completely). I was processed quickly, and was able to see a doctor within the hour. I cannot express my gratitude enough for the quality of care I received. The doctor was able to locate the source of the pain, and actioned a solution immediately. I often get hospital anxiety because I understand there are ALWAYS more severe cases and other patients requiring attention, not to mention how under the pump nurses/doctors are already. But the doctor was understanding, compassionate, and seemed to genuinely care and understand my case. Thank you so very much doctor Saada Malouf.

Haven't been here in almost a decade but had to attend the ER this morning. With the waiting room half full, I ended up being seen within 15min (priority case I guess) My concerns and symptoms were taken seriously, and staff were very professional and polite. After my IV and antibiotics, I did have to wait in the main waiting room for several hours for my test results to come back as the hospital became very busy and there weren't any beds left available. I'm not going to fault them on that as they were swamped. Overall I'm happy with the level of care I received. It's a public hospital so of course they're going to be busy but it really did seem as though all the staff were doing their best and trying to manage the beds as best they could.

  • Yash

This hospital doesn't quite understand the concept of an emergency department. They ask you what your great uncles middle name was before they ask you what your symptoms are. Despite being informed of symptoms that clearly indicate an emergency (appendicitis), they make you wait as though there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. The staff inconsistently apply rules to who can and cannot visit and are on a "behind the counter" power trip. While I understand that this is a government hospital and likely to be underfunded, there are some very critical changes that need to be made in the way this place is administered. It lacks basic process that would vastly improve the way this hospital's emergency department operates.

Ive never been to a worse hospital. 4 hours of waiting, only to spend 30 minutes in a room with no bed and no help before being kicked out- AFTER I WAS TOLD BY A NURSE AT A HOSPITAL I WAS TRANSFERRED TO BY THE NORTHERN THAT I NEEDED TO GO BACK. By the time I got home I had blood soaking through my bandages. When I had outpatient appointments, I was ignored and refused treatment that both my original nurse and the nurse I had next agreed was necessary. Seeing all the other responses, I think many of the nurses and doctors should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. I am fully aware that it’s an incredibly intensive job, but a lot of the behaviour stems from rudeness and a lack of care rather than burnout or stress.

  • Cihan Goc

Worst hospital with unhelpful staff i understand that they are also under pressure but my mother was so bad last night couldn't due to dizziness her sight was going blurry and no one would see her or give her any medication. and we were told that a nurse will do round checking up on the patients in the emergency and i was in that room for about 4hrs and not 1 person checked on my mum i didn't even see a nurse help anyone or do any sort of rounds very upset with the circumstances we had to leave go home and then call the ambulance just so she can see a doctor. Not good enough they really need to step up there game pathetic worthless bunch of so called doctors and nurses.

  • Brooke Dance

My partner took me here after having an epileptic fit in the car. (I haven’t had a seizure in 5-6 years and this was a big one). I hurt my arm in the process, after waiting 5 hours in emergency they took me in after taking bloods and an x ray only to be told that nothing was wrong with my arm and I was fine. Fast forward a week and I had x rays and an ultrasound through my GP and was told that my arm was in fact fractured and I had a tear in one of my tendons from possible dislocation. He told me they should’ve been able to pick it up on x ray that night. Not worth going to this hospital for emergencies, go somewhere else if you can.

  • Lana Rose

Doctor or nurse named neta-marre told my partner to “stop being a girl” while having a wire removed from his toe while awake after his motorcycle incident, he was hyperventilating while other nurses were trying to calm him, personally think that’s unprofessional. As a professional you know everything will be okay, your patients won’t it’s your job to also reassure them not make them feel stupid for worrying about something they have no knowledge of, they aren’t trained for this YOU are. Please teach your staff some more friendly and positive ways of comforting their patients I find that behaviour gross to come from a professional.

  • Bruce Dite

Again I have visited Northern Childrens Emergency with now 7 yo granddaughter suffering asthma and breathing problems. so impressed with the staff who spoke to Erica the patient directly, not directing questions to the parents/grandparents. The doctor Alison spent a lot of time discussing the reason for Erica's asthma and the plans to move on to cope with this. Very impressed All staff were very attentive, making a 7 yo feel very comfortable, in fact she said "no I'm not ready to go home", Erica even said how good the hospital breakfast was!! Keep up the great work Northern Children's Emergency Department. Yvonne

  • Alyssa Mohamad

I came to the emergency department, literally struggling to breathe, fever, cough … & after 9 hours of waiting in the emergency room, ON A CHAIR they gave me my report which said “looks miserable but not sick”…. Extremely unprofessional and rude, I was extremely unwell, I had just finished a 14 hour shift, running on 2 hours sleep after being awake for a while 24 hours… sorry if I didn’t look like I was enjoying myself… and I was tested for Covid 4 times (ALL NEGATIVE) because they couldn’t believe it would be anything else… lack of knowledge, lack of sympathy and just overall lack of service as a hospital.

  • Namratha Pujer

Worst service. Even in such a technologically advanced world, there’s no real time information or even the decency to let the patients know approximately how much waiting time is involved. When asked, the staff claims it to be harassing. A woman who has had a heart attack is made to wait for hours without even letting them know how long it would take to see the doctor. A man with intolerable pain is not allowed to check with the staff and is made to wait for 4 hours, long enough for the patient to develop fever and other symptoms. Absolutely disappointed with the medical service and lack of humanity.

  • Don & Fam

The ladies answering the phone calls today and yesterday, not sure if it’s the same person but most arrogant and obnoxious people. People do not call to ask you something they know. If I knew the answer to my own question I wouldn’t have called. Maybe consider training or hiring better staff. My experience at the emergency department was very helpful and Even though I was there for more than 6 hours I didn’t mind the wait as all the staff on that day made sure to look after us but it really ruins the memory of all that when you have to deal with people like that on the phone. Hope this will change

  • Savi Liyanage

Worst hospital in Victoria. If you are going to an emergency department please don't expect that they will treat you immediately. If you are lucky the Doctor will come and check you in 4 to 5 hours, otherwise all the best . You need to go and give reminders to the staff otherwise, they will forget you and the doctor will never come and see you. I took my son to an emergency department and had to wait almost 4 hours and no one came. After that, I decided to take him back and the next day I took my child to the GP. Please avoid this hospital if you can.

  • Anastasia Kontos

Hi. MY name is Anastasia kontos .. I was in Northern hospital.. I had a very bad infection in my hip ! And. Thingh was. in so much Pain ! ! !! . In 2 day's They Operated on my thigh !!! " Thankyou so much again. Anastasia..

  • Diyar Gelgel

My mum was taken here for an operation and told by 2 doctors two different outcomes. Furthermore, she is a diabetic and the hospital did not feed her or give her insulin. Her sugars were 15. No one gave her pain meds after surgery either. When she went back to the hospital a day later for pain in her chest, she wasn't admitted for 6 hours and they sent her home at 3am in the morning!! Didn't even have the decency to keep her there until morning and still they didn't give her pain meds again!! Absolutely disgusting behaviour and terrible service!

  • Darren Burren

I'm currently at day 11 in Northern Hospital . I'm very surprised at the negative comments , as I've found all the staff to be friendly and extremely competent ! The food has been good , it's not a five star restaurant , so don't expect one . It is however tasty and plentiful . The Medical staff are second to none and have treated me with respect and empathy . I am hoping that this is the end of my Hospital stays for a long time , however if I have to go , my preference will be the Northern . Thanks to all the team who made my stay 'doable'

  • Tayla McRae

Waited over nine hours just to be sent home with the same antibiotics I walked in with. They gave me a medication I should not have been given considering my condition. Sent me home in worse condition than I walked in with. Had to go to another hospital the following night where I was admitted straight away and given morphine for how much pain I was in. My doctor was wonderful and very apologetic that she couldn't help me but I just wished she'd listened to me or checked what medication the nurse gave me before she inevitably made worse.

  • Sarah Calafiore

Would have been 5 stars except for the surgical team. Partner went through ED which was fantastic, the nursing team were great. But he waited 6 hours to be discharged from transit because the surgical team had not prepared his script, medical certificate or discharge summary. Also, while waiting he missed his dose of antibiotics. Useless and fustrating. Specifically mentioned interns Juliana Manna and Harsha Dilip for the delay. Also, a medical certificate was not provided even after countless requests and 6 hours of waiting.

  • Santosh Acharya

We came to this hospital on Tuesday night, waited for 15 hrs for my wife surgery , after that doctor said they were so much busy so come back tomorrow morning 7am so we did, it is 6pm now still waiting for doctor . If they cant do it on time, why they promised will keep me on top priority. Isn't it ridiculous. When i asked nurses, they have no clue whats going on. We knew it is public hospital.being the part of first world country, we expect the first world service. But their services are worse than third world country.

  • KWD Scott

First time we have had to bring our 11 year old to an emergency hospital. The staff and doctors were amazing including the cross collaboration and communication between the staff was well organised. They triaged him swiftly and ensured all in hospital treatments were thoroughly assessed and provided. This included them taking the time to consult with experts at the RCH to ensure we had a thorough care and post hospital plan in place. Felt very well looked after and all advice and next steps were clear. Thank you

  • Stephen Kightly

Worst hospital ever, had a bad infection to my hand and got transferred 2 and half hours from a country vic hospital for surgery. Had to fast from 6.3am and got told at 10.30pm it was cacelled! Times this x 3 it's now Friday night and they still refuse to treat me. Patients are treated like cattle and people are discharging themselves at 10 o'clock at night. I bet no member of the board would send a family member here. I have private insurance but this was the only available with a plastic surgeon. Never again.

  • Sylvia Vaka

I would like to thank the staff here for looking after me during my procedure. The whole process from the beginning to the end from being rushed into to E.R, to being transferred to the ward recovering from the Surgery was nothing but an experience for me. The staff were not only friendly here but they were very attentive, polite and helpful despite how BUSY they got. Thank you to the staff at Northern Hospital once again, you honestly do not get enough credit for what you face, endure and do on a daily basis!

  • WILLEM MARKEY

Came here for a cyst removal and would call this a joke. Had 5 different nurses come in and 3 said I didn’t need surgery and 2 said I did. Unprofessional. Then when I was asked about mental health they never connected me to someone. I asked for pain relief and never got it. They also seem pretty unorganised and slow to get things done. At the end of the day they did help me get better and they’re doing they’re job but it shouldn’t be this much of a hassle for a cyst (I’ve been here a total of around 39 hours)

  • Rae Scuric

Rae&Victor My husband was diagnosed with colon cancer 18 days ago. Our doctor at the Northern hospital was Dr.Neil Strugnell, he was amazing, explained everything to us, the surgery process and what it involves. The surgery is tomorrow ,the process was quick and thorough. The nurses were incredible, they even called us at home several times to help us deal with our situation. Our experience with the Northern hospital was absolutely outstanding.Thankyou to all involved. Wish us luck for the surgery tomorrow.

  • Alex Miller

I would give zero star if was possible. Went to emergency for internal bleeding, after being triaged and waited for an hour, finally a nurse came with lots of attitude as if it is my fault that she is working at 3 AM, then told me i have to wait for 6 hours before a doctor can visit us. This is whilst they had doctors there and I told her that i had severe bleeding! I had to go to a different hospital. Very poor service If you wanna survive, don’t waste your time in this hospital and it’s emergency.

  • Lachlan Chiswell

Seems weird to write a review for a hospital but here goes. Got into an accident the other day and was cared for by an amazing team of people. Big thanks to Dr. Maddy, Nurse Kylie and Jay. Every person I met there was kind and wonderfully caring, from the emergency department to the surgeons. Amazing people, saving lives and fixing injuries. Yes the wait time is long for some things but it's a hospital, you kind of have to expect that. Thank you to each and every person working there.

  • Casey McHale

This is the 2nd time i've been there I had a biopsy done almost 2 months ago and when I called to find out what was going on, they said a doctor hasn't even looked at it yet, after telling me the results would only take 2 weeks! The first time I was there, doctors were discussing how they made a huge mistake with another patients surgery in the hall where everyone could hear them... Would recommend you go anywhere else if you can. If I could rate Northern hospital 0 I would.

  • Apeetha Arunagiri

Recently my first overnight hospital stay was in the Northern Hospital Epping, I am moved to say that particularly the nursing staff were truly wonderful — caring way beyond expectations, all seemed very happy to be working together. I am very old and could not be more grateful for their solicitation and goodwill so my commendation to everybody else is way over the top: do not hesitate to be confident about surrendering to their ministrations. This is an excellent hospital.

  • Xubair Ahmed

My first ever visit in any hospital in Australia, worst experience ever, went to the emergency only to bit ended up waiting for 6 hours and then got notified that we have stay for the night to get ultrasound in the morning. No coordination amongst staff, most of them behave like zombies, no clue what's going on. it took five nurses for them to find vein for the blood test, kept on trying on both arms. Very rude staff and doctors are very amateur. Please, avoid going there.

  • Quatermass

On trying to determine why I can't breathe properly, an ongoing problem, my doctor referred me to a respiratory specialist at this hospital. Then they sent a letter to me saying there is not enough evidence that I have a breathing issue. I had Xray and ultrasound, and these could not elucidate the issue. Thus I need a specialist. So, what if my problem is something serious then. How the hell do I find out what it is? One useless mob at this hospital.

  • rhys thouliss

Presented to the ER at 5 am for stitches Sat on a steel bench in the hallway until 10pm before getting a bed after trying to leave Then sent home at 11am the next day and told to return at 3pm Thursday for surgery Received a phone call Wednesday night to postpone surgery until Friday Then on Thursday night receive a phone call to say I could have the surgery next week maybe? Joint needs a shake up for certain and some decent management Useless

  • Fatih

Worst hospital in Australia I’d say. Judgemental staff, you can hear them talking bad about people. Not very attentive. Absolutely no beds even for critical patients. Do yourself a favour and stay far away from here. Even with an ambulance request a different hospital like Austin. This hospital most certainly should be shut down. Atleast the emergency department. Band aids on curtains and bloody band aids on the floor. High RISK of INFECTION.

  • Maria Carolina Martinez Cortes

Terrible service. I got a urinal infection at 3 am. I could not hold and I was bleeding. The next doctor is available in 7 hours. The nurse just ask me how many pads have you changed. I said one for now, and she just said ok it's not severe. Like you can wait to get an infection in your kidney, you will survive. I preferred to go and see a GP in a priority centre where I have to wait 3 hours for the next medical appointment.

  • abbas hajinasiri

Excellent service as always! Great infection control measures for in/outpatient services, especially considering current pandemic situation. Atleast 3/4 times in last couple of years, my life was literally saved in this hospital, without catching any additional illness there, and I express my gratitude. My last procedure was done in May 2023 and since then I am recovering very well. Highly recommended!

  • Devyani Shirke

Had been to the emergency department at Norther Epping. I was given good care by the nurses and the doctors. Had to get an emergency procedure done and I have to say each staff member was very helpful and gave us the information that we needed. Doctors explained excatly what needed to be done and we felt we were in good hands. The staff is great and always ready to help. Clean and hygiene environment.

  • Laura F

The worse place ever. 3 weeks after dismissal from the emergency, 2 night there and I still don’t know what happened to me, I don’t have any results, they are only sending bills to pay. They told me they will send everything to the gp so I can continue, but nothing there, only info about medicines they gave me. I am having symptoms again, and getting sick for the exact same problem. Horrible

  • Andrew Foulsum

Was here recently for the birth of my second son. The maternity ward was amazing all the staff were super knowledgeable, caring and attentive. The only frustration I had was with wait time but this was due to an influx of patients from the Mercy (my family included) as they had a flood which damaged several of their operating theatre’s but this has nothing to do with the level of care.

  • Toni Cascio

I ended up in Northern Hospital ER last week after being unfortunate enough to suffer a serious fall resulting in a broken nose, concussion and amnesia for 2.5 hours. During my 24 hour stay i was treated by various doctors and nurses who were all absolutely amazing - caring, professional, knowledgeable. Thank you for the great care and making a horrible experience much less stressful.

  • Paigan Brady

What sort of a hospital sends someone that comes in by ambulance with severe vomiting, unable to breathe back into the Main waiting room, which was completely full with nowhere to sit, screaming kids to top it off? Go to the royal Melbourne hospital. What a mess this hospital is. It servces too any areas. Feel sorry for the staff that work there.... give it zero stars if I could.

  • wafa tebeileh

I was admitted with a back injury and a brain bleed (subdural hematoma). I stayed in SSU and then was moved to Ward 4 room 6. I was very well looked after. Nursing staff, doctors, occupational health, radiology were all professionals, kind and caring with a sense of humour. Food was also great. Thank you Northern hospital and keep up the good work!

  • Viruj Raina

My doctors, Nas and Debbie, were extremely helpful and did a wonderful job. Even though Debbie’s shift had just finished, she chose to stay to treat me and make sure I was looked after. Initially, I was disappointed because I had to wait a long time in emergency and was in a lot of pain, however once Dr Nas attended me, everything occurred very smoothly and quickly.

  • Greg Moloney

Was just released from the Northern Hospital for the second time this year. To the Doctors and Nurses “I dips me lid to ya”. Thank you. As an administrative improvement it would be good to strategically place a few walking machines around the facility for patients that need or would like to stretch their legs occasionally rather than roaming the corridors.

  • Arif Rabbani

Emergency Department is a Joke. Waited over 10 hours now and still waiting to get seen by a Doctor!! Unclean cubicles. Pressed the call nurse button and nobody showed up in 3 hours. Had to get out of bed to tell the nurse to start working. Had to call Ambulance to take me from One hospital to another. That itself will give you an idea about the hospital.

  • i_sekrevski

If you want to wait 12 hours in emergency go to this hospital I had hyperthermia and was left for 12 hours on a chair shivering and they didn’t care they told me I was the 2nd patient next 4 hours ago i came at 11:30pm it is currently 10am and I have work in two hours. Do not recommend just stay home And there’s a homeless man on the floor. Thank you

  • Sema Ceylan

They made a bigger hospital but forgot to improve emergency department. Went in got seen by a Dr in half hour then was told I needed to stay overnight. Have been waiting over 9 hrs to be given a bed and still waiting. Very disappointed in the emergency department. Will way my optio s when coming yo the northern emergency department.

  • Jai Ess

I've had negative experiences before at Northern but my last 2 emergency admissions over the past 2 weeks or so have been quite positive. In particular the Nurses and Docs in Wards 13 and 16 are absolute legends. God bless them all for putting up with me and making me well enough to walk out on my own two feet, twice. …

  • Ozzie

Would give the service a 0 is possible, waited in the emergency for over 7 hours, asked the nurses at the front giving me 3 different times which were completely apart. Nurse Nadine at the front was so rude when I asked her she replied back so rudely and turned to the other nurse and laughed it off with her.

  • Ashish Kohli

Very Poor service. 9 hours wait for an emergency. Maternity doctors are just sitting in office and excuse is very busy no bed available. Bed not available becoz existing patients not been taking care for two hours just for BP check.. come on don't make people fool. Don't misuse tax payers hard earn money.

  • N Melbourne

I've been to the northern recently to have my child and then also to emergency when he was unwell and I could not be happier. The staff, service, and facilities were great. I can't thank the hospital enough for the professionalism and high standard or service I have experienced. Angels all of them! xxx

  • Toby Stow

From start to finish the team here have been great, walked in with a serious issue and later that day was in surgery. The nurses and docs always explained what was going on and answered all my questions, where they could help they always did. Can't thank the team enough for all their help and support.

  • Harinder Khangura

Very sad this hospital provides care for children , I went there with my 4 year old with unknown allergy reaction , my son was itchy and in pain with swollen eyes but no one care wait they over 4 hours to see the doctor . I do understand they are busy but children can’t bear the pain.

  • Baskal Yousif

Excellent service. i stayed from 26/9to 30/9 for kedney cancer operation and i have to say thanks to the angels or nurses in ward Y. Katherine. Emma. Monika and Susan. and the rest for helping everyone without delay and have a smile. thanks for helping me during these days. Thanks

  • Zac Amuri

Worst hospital in Melbourne, it’s a morgue, you walk in with one health issue you walk out alive if lucky with twenty issues , the staff are rude merciless and the hospital is disgusting, i know personally many people who died when they were admitted because of medical errors.

  • Marney Noa

Worst hospital ever. I would choose to die at home then go through their ER! Took my sister & we were told there was 4 people then they added more people in the front of her! Every sick person is an emergency no matter how small ! It should be first come first serve!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jodi Humphries

Absolutely the worst hospital to go to. None of the staff know what’s going on. My father in law was taken by ambulance after having a stroke at home. An MRI was supposed to be performed. Two days later he’s sent home with no MRI done. If you need a hospital don’t go there.

  • Steve

Hate this place with a passion get messed around every time we've been here. Always understaffed and disorganised. Do yourself a favour go to your local vet instead they probably have more of a clue about what's going on. Go to the Austin, better quality staff and doctors.

  • Kevin Hughes

Assaulted by hired security, with no provocation including cutting off my air supply. Get home they have left my meds in their safe so I phoned and promised they would courier up, (1.5 hours drive) so no pain relief for 24 hours. I feel a legal proceedings coming on.

  • Michael Smallman

The nursing staff here are some of the hardest working and caring people I've ever met. They helped me out with every request despite putting up with abuse and sexism from other patients. Couldn't have asked for better care in my time of need. Thank you all so much.

  • Abbey-Marie Slatter

Never go here. Their negligence are extremely high. I no longer have a functional knee because of them. Some how they missed 1 rapture tendant and a partial torn tendant. If you did your job you would have sent me in for surgery but now it is way to late.

  • Paul Williams

Went to the ED on 11/7. Wait time as you would expect in an ED, but was seen to, attended to, and checked on by the doctor and nurse looking after me regularly. For the pressure these guys are under they are amazing. Thanks for looking after me …

  • Jowita Jackowski

today I have stent removal. I was in panic because two other procedures were very painful. Doctor on outpatient department and nurses were amazing. They helps me feel more confortable and it was zero pain! Thank you for profesional talks and support.

  • keira

My partner went here for a small issue. Turned into a massive fuss, absolutely horrible. Would not recommend coming here unless you want to sit around for hours when each worker is telling you multiple different things only to end up feeling worse.

  • Richard Gooch

If you’ve had extreme head trauma, concussed, or potentially permanent loss of vision, do not go to this hospital because they’ll still leave you In the waiting room if you’re a potential chance of seizure followed by death. The hospital is a joke

  • Sawsan El Wazni

Received an excellent treatment from the call of the ambulance (Nadine+ other member) to the emergency department (Dr Naser) and then in ward5. I warmly thanks all the staff including the Pharmacy staff. Many thanks..Copious thanks..

  • Yousef Kalamouni

Was visiting a family member that was really ill in the cardiology ward all staff were amazing other than one goes by the name Lynn. She had absolutely no compassion or empathy what so ever ,really hope she changes but I'm doubtful

  • Michael Atwell

I have had quite a bit of experience with the Northern Hospital over the past couple of years and feel that they do a fantastic job. Both my mother and father have been in numerous times and I cannot fault the care they were given

  • Tracey Wallden

Absolutely fabulous. All the staff from Ambos, Specialists, Doctors, Nurses, food delivery staff, most of the receptionists and the cleaners.....they all work so hard and looked after me so well. A huge thank you to you all …

  • Cheryle Ager

Was at Epping hospital for full hip replacement , the whole team were just wonderful. The doctors and nursing staff go out of their way to help you. Highly recommend this hospital to anybody , and thankyou for your care …

  • Ri Maci

A big thank you to Nadrah in Nuclear Radiation! She took the time to explain every process to my elderly mother and was very caring and considerate in making sure my mother was comfortable the whole time we were there.

  • Charito Toner

My husband Kerry got rushed there after a fall from height I am so happy we went there. All the staff were amazing taking great care of my man Thankyou all so much, you all do wonderful work in such a busy Hospital

  • Madonna Saleh

staff try really hard and it is not their problem that there are too many patients, these reviews shouldn't blame them, there is a worldwide shortage of healthcare staff if you don't like it then solve it

  • Michael Allen

I had an overnight stay after an unexpected emergency visit and from beginning to end it was 5 star. I received wonderful care throgh the whole process. Thank you so much for taking such good care of me.

  • Andrew “Andi” Clifford

Great Hospital! I had a great experience using the new online triage service and saw a doctor in less then an hour and picked up my script and had a follow up the next day in outpatients. Thanks so much

  • Nasir Ali

WORST HOSPITAL IN WHOLE VICTORIA... EMERGENCY MEANS YOU ARE JUNK THEY WILL THROW YOU TO WAIT EASILY 8-10 HOURS. ONLY 1 DOCTOR AND HE/SHE IS LOOKING AFTER WHOLE HOSPITAL. SHAME ON HEALTH SYSTEM.

  • Thatgirl Sim

Northern Hospital needs to work on communicating with both staff and patients. It seems like nobody knows what's happening and you can be seen after 6 hours without knowing what happening.

  • Aryan Sharma

Pathetic! Paid $630 for emergency service because of severe chest pain at 9PM but it’s 4:11 AM right now on 09/09/23 and still waiting for my turn. I am feeling like I’ll die today.

  • Hero

I highly recommend another hospital. Service is terrible. Staff are inexperienced and half the time I felt like I was doing the doctors job for him. Spent 2 nights in and hated it.
