I have been coming to this Rexall for the past year for my prescription. I am going out of the country and needed an early refill to last my trip. I called 2 weeks a head of time to make sure this would be possible. Person on the phone said no problem, they will fax my doctor for an early refill request that I can pick up 3 days before my trip. I call 3 days before my trip to make sure they received the fax. They said they hadn't. My doctor is now out of town, but his office is open & able to send out faxes. I was told I could maybe try a walk in clinic (not possible as I was working) My doctor's office got back to me and told me they did infact send the fax on August 18th as requested by the pharmacy. I had a missed called from Rexall, so I assumed they had received the fax, but when I called them back today the woman who answered the phone was incredibly rude. She told me no, they had not received anything from my doctor, she would not double check, and said my doctor had to send the fax again but there was nothing else they could do. It is now Saturday so the office is closed and the fax had already been sent TWICE. My medication is considered a controlled substance, so it is more complicated to get an early refill, but that is why I called ahead to sort things out. I am also not able to stop taking my medication without consulting my doctor, so just running out is not an option. This is also the SECOND TIME this has happened. My doctor has had to email me a copy of the fax sent to show the pharmacy because they are for some reason unable to receive the faxes themselves. I called my old Shoppers pharmacy in Toronto, explained the situation, and they said they could give me enough medication to last my trip. I will have to pick it up on my way to the airport. Not sure why Rexall could not do the same considering they had 2 weeks to figure it out. I am not one to leave bad reviews, but if you need a reliable place to fill your prescriptions this is not it.

I only go there to pickup my packages. Every time I go there and this lady staff was always complaining with grompy face that I should have come next day after 1pm. It's like I am giving her extra work that she is not supposed to handle. It only takes a second to scan the card and I check online at Canada Post web site that it is indeed available for pickup at the post office before I go. Today it was her again and so I complained to her that why she always asked me to come next day when it's available already. The lady started arguing with me. The supervisor is so rude and even forced me out of the store. I was told that the web site info has nothing to do with the store. So I am only supposed to come next day and there is nothing they can do. I'll never shop there ever again! But sadly, I still have to go pick up my packages there since no other choices. What can I do?

Store part is fine, staff are nice and the Postal Outlet is good as well. The pharmacy is utterly incompetent. If you need prescriptions and do not want a constant hassle, missing items or being shorted doses on a regular (yes, every time) basis, I strongly recommend finding another place to take your business. This location has sunk so far and so quickly they should be shut down. Staff are unfriendly, confrontational and incompetent. They are unable to successfully fax anything to a doctor, takes over a week to correct any mistakes and your prescriptions are NEVER ready when they say they will be and always wrong. Rexall, you need to do better. People work hard for their money and need to be assured they can get their health needs cared for without the added stress of your pharmacy's currently failing record.

If i could give 0 stars i would. Worst pharmacy i have ever been to. On top of nothing ever being ready even after calling several days in advance. The one that makes me the most annoyed is the level of unprofessionalism. My mothers prescription was discontinued and her doctor faxed them a replacement a month ago. When they went to pick it up they lied to her and said they were waiting for her doctor. Even though they already had that information. And this is a prescription for a life medicine that if she didnt have a couple left would have put her into severe withdrawls and a verh dangerous situation. This is complete neglect from the pharmacy and we will be proceeding to make the appropriate enforcement aware of this.

This is my parents terrible pharmacy. They tell them the prescription is ready when it's not. They tell them they have stock when they do not. They say all is good when a medication is actually discontinued. They don't tell them that they can't fulfill a prescription because its a compound.... I could go on. My parents are seniors and they don't live super close. Travelling 30min one way to be told its not ready when you called before and they said it was ready is very not cool. I am trying to find a new friendly and reliable pharmacy for them. Its too bad because they have been going there for years and some staff members are friendly but lately totally incompetent.

Huge store! Post office is great! Carries many things including groceries! Vacant most of the time. Drive through pharmacy is is a nice tough but i had worst experience with the pharmacists here. I got a eye surgery done from lazik and needed 6 types of pain meds right after but the pharmacist here made a big deal about a doctor office number that is not showing up in their system from the prescription and told me I couldn't get it. The doctors where already gone for the weekend and I had to wait until Monday to get pain meds when I got the surgery few days prior the weekend. Very frustrated and had a painful weekend to go through before I could get pain meds...

My family has changed pharmacies because of the lack of basic medical knowledge and patient-centered approach these individuals take. The pharmacist could not understand a prescription that was handwritten and refused to fill it (it was penicillin-V and is an extremely common broad spectrum antibiotic). They continue to make medication and prescriptions less accessible and even made me feel bad for not having a family doctor (despite the fact that I’ve struggled with it for over 2 years). No compassion and an extremely poor excuse for people who are supposed to be part of a healthcare team.

They seem to struggle with their basic function of filling prescriptions and are quite excitable. I have used the Rexall at 240 Sparks for many years. It is an amazing pharmacy but is too far away for me now. I moved my prescriptions from 240 to March Rd. and after only 1 renewal cycle plagued by refill problems and bizarre, ranting lectures from the staff, I moved everything right back to 240 Sparks. Talk about culture shock. It's worth the 1 hr drive not to deal with this train wreck of a pharmacy.

  • Minh Trinh

Kayla at the post office is the best customer service person I've seen in years... Yes, you read it right. YEARS. Someone (Yes, I am talking to you, her boss) needs to give her a raise and have her train others in dealing with clients. If only there is an opening in my team right now, I would definitely offer her a job in my team. And if you are looking for a good customer service person yourself, I recommend you poach her from Rexall if they don't value such quality resource.

I would like to know WHY during these challenging times (and other times) the drive through prescription service is Closed. It is just after 8pm, and now I have to get out of my car, expose myself to people in the store (I'm wearing a mask), walk to the back, remind the pharmacist that I have 3 prescriptions not the 2 she brought out. I've come to this location so I can use this drivethru service and it is not available.

  • krista waddell

Three pharmacists will ignore you for the st 10 minutes you stand there. They won't inform you that they don't have the meds in stock. Instead they will call your doctor to ask for for a different Px. And you'll have to phone them to find that out, because they never call when your Px is filled. Even when you specify that you require a phone call. Terrible service, especially when you have to drive 15 Km to get there.

  • Adam Boudreau

Great big sign on the building, lit up at night saying "Open Late". Yeah, right. It's 8pm and I spent the time to leave a bad review since 8pm is not "late", 10 or 11, that's late. 8pm is my 7 year olds bed time. You know what made me write the review though? The lady briskly walking towards and and sternly telling me you're closed. 0/10 customer service. 0/10 expectations. Happy shoppers is just across the street.

  • FRED

Had an umpleasant experience with a pharmacist here...very condescending woman. I Had a bad cough...couldn't sleep... Went for cough syrup with codiene which is my normal M.O. in this situation... for the last 30 years - stops the cough and knocks you out. She refused to give me this over the counter cough syrup...guess she just assumed I was a codeine junky. Went next door to shoppers and got it.

Useless pharmacist. I showed up for my flu shot appointment. Pharmacist said they were all out of the vaccine. And didn't offer any other instruction or advice on when to get the flu shot, whether to rebook the appointment or whatever. He just said they were out. It was almost a game of 20 Questions before he suggested I could phone on Monday to see if they got more supply.

  • Marie Pepin

Aweful. They do not care about their long term customers. There has been such a big turn over in staff the past few years it's scary. I had to get another pharmacy because I have lost my trust and there is 1 lady who is not a pharmacist that is so rude she does not realize it herself. I will give 1 credit to 1 pharmacist and that's Patrick, that's it Jackie is very rude.

  • Colleen Kelley

I continue to be disappointed. Generally I have never been pleased with the service at the post office. While standing in line, today the postal clerk told me to wait for 15 minutes while she took her break. I asked if she was kidding and she said she needed her break. Not to mention the store closed in 30 minutes. I will avoid ever coming back to this store if possible.

  • Alex Sheach

Consistently, over five years this pharmacy continues to get it wrong. Today 's debacle is just one more example. Despite a phone call yesterday to confirm everything would be ready and a confirmation text today, there was still only one of three there. Add to that, an hour wait when we were told it was going to be 10 minutes and still not ready. The service is abysmal.

  • Valorie Laalo

I stopped in to see if I could get a flu shot on the spot, but was told I needed to make an appointment. Not a problem. I shopped for a few needed items and met with Mina at the cash and she helped me activate my new Wellness member card. She is delightful and helpful. Very professional and polite, and pretty much made my day. Keep it up Mina! You make a difference!

  • David Chen

Book the Flu shot appointment 3 weeks ago. I received the message today and a days ago tell me the appointment still valid. When we arrive store today they told us the flu shot is run out. What the point for appointment and SMS email message if they can not reserve the flu shot for the people make appointment 3 week ago? Really bad experiences.

  • Derek Peace

Booked an appointment online for my COVID booster and when I got there, they told me that there was an known error with their system and that I was not eligible. When asked why they didn't call or email me to tell me before taking time off work to be there, the employee told me that they can't call everyone.

  • Ray Perkins

Got excellent service on an exchange... We had no receipt, and they exchanged a defective electric toothbrush for a much better one with essentially no cost to us, even though it was twice the price. Very friendly and helpful, couldn't have asked for better on the exchange.

  • Layoun

Absolute professionalism at this pharmacy. I need regular medications and they have kept on top of everything I need, ensuring no contradictions and thorough explanations of new medications. The store itself has a wide array of products and the post office is exceptional.

  • Muzzamil Saqlain

The staff here does not know how to work a checkout queue. I had one item to buy and I had to wait ten minutes because another customer was going around the store AFTER starting their checkout. Needless to say I'll be going to the Shoppers across the street from now on.

  • D Saik

Good minimum wage employees, store is dimly lit and looks dirty. Management is rude and unhelpful, not aiding the customer with any issues they have. The only good part of the store is the post office. If you do not need to go here specifically. Do NOT shop here

  • Greg S.

Beware:Check your receipt. This store routinely marks prices as sale and then charges you full price at the register. I told this to the cashier after they overcharged me for an item and she made it clear they Do not follow the scanning code of practice.

  • Libi Mirkin

A large and spacious store with a variety of departments (cosmetics, dental, baby, postcards, snacks, dairy, frozen, etc). Usually, the store is not busy, therefore, only one cashier is available. The post office and pharmacy are in the store.

  • Irina Sokolova

I had the worst experience at this store. They sold me inactivated phone card, and when I came back to ask to activate it, they would not do it because I did not have a receipt. They said it could not be their fault. Avoid this store.

  • Christopher Doyle

Normally a good place to shop, but I'm giving only 1 star because only cashier present serviced customer who was repeatedly playing lottery tickets while a very long line up of 'real' customers developed behind.

  • Pat Hoadley

Had to change drug stores. Hubby got the wrong blood pressure pills and One of my prescriptions had expired meds in it. Most staff not friendly. If you use this store be sure to check everything carefully.

  • David Seniuk

This pharmacy always has difficulty processing drugs through insurance. They always want you to pay cash but be persistent as after an hour or so they'll finally put it through. Paying cash is their MO.

  • Ling Ding

I wish I can rank them 0 star. The staff of the pharmacy is very impatient and impolite. It is the first time and is also the last time to this pharmacy. This review is only for the pharmacy.

  • Ry A.

Worst rexall in kanata, probably the most understaffed pharmacy. Takes FOREVER to pick up a prescription and half the time it’s not ready. Go somewhere else. Don’t waste your time.

  • mike carroll

Horrible service. For the third time the pharmacists have placed themselves in place of a doctor. Every issue i have had was a result of their overreach and incompetence.

  • Pascal Viau

Came here last Thursday, the pharmacist was super friendly and nice to chat with, unfortunately I didn't catch his name but I'd recommend going to him for any questions.

  • Yulia

Ever since the change of staff a few years ago, the pharmacy experience has become a consistent nightmare. Unprofessional, unfriendly and incompetent.

  • yrcousin

Pharmacist (Shariffa) was rude and not accommodating to my request. Will be switching to another pharmacy. Never had issue with previous pharmacists.

  • seaweed349

Usually ok. But don't try to leave a message for the pharmacist..the two times I have, no one ever returned my call. Im thinking of making a change.

  • Laurent Hotte

Rude service. Lies. Not a place to go feel better. Save your money and your time. Go somewhere else. I for one will never use Rexall ever again.

  • Margaret Baar

Both times I have picked up a prescription the prescription was not ready or misplaced even after I received a phone call that it was ready.

  • Bronson Richard

The pharmacy staff is very helpful if you can afford to give them patience and understanding. The post office is in an excellent location.

  • Naveenta Om Verma

Think twice before you promote anyone to be in supervisor role. I will not be returning to this store because of your supervisor.

  • Nancy Crowder

Terrible customer service at pharmacy! Nobody there likes their job..very rude! Last visit there, will be changing to Shoppers!

  • Ehsan Ramezani

Not much variety on the shelves! I couldn’t find many items that could easily been found in the other pharmacies.

  • zane hyatte

Keeps trying to make me pay cash instead of just running through my insurance like I’ve always had. Very scammy

  • janet mcphail

Not the friendliest staff asked where something was told idk no help from Cashier or anybody looking for it

  • Abdullah al

Worst pharmacy in Ottawa. The staff is incredibly rude. Long wait times. My stuff is never ready on time.

  • Scott Mcleod

Website says 8 PM. There at 6:30 pm. Closed . Wasted my time and gas!. Please update your website! …

  • Jonathan Caron

I would reconsider the sign on the building that says “open late” when you’re closed at 8pm…

  • Jacqueline Tomlinson

Shockingly incompetent pharmacy staff. No complaints about the rest of the store.

  • Doug Charlton

I like Air Miles more then Shoppers points so I go here.
