DO NOT RENT from this company, especially if you live outside of Canada. They add additional fees, make you jump through hoops, and will charge over $1,000 USD for a small scratch underneath the bumper which may or may not have occurred during your rental. Added fees: Though the rental was a good price when we booked it online, upon arrival the employee at the desk told us we would need to purchase their car rental insurance for an extra daily fee of about $20 CAD unless we could prove that my credit card company had worldwide rental car insurance. I called my credit card company and proved that they did offer it as a benefit, only to be told by the man at the desk that I THEN needed to prove that my car insurance would cover up to $1,000,000 for personal liability. I've never had to prove all of this while renting a car, but after another call to my insurance company, I was finally able to do so and waive Zoom's additional fees. The Zoom employee claimed this was the way they do it in Canada, however, my dad rented a car in Vancouver a year ago and this was not the case. This process was a major hassle and it took us over 45 minutes just to get the car. Suspect and Overcharged Damage Claim: We dropped off the car early before Zoom was open and took a photo of the car and there was no visible damage. Later that day I received an email from the company with photos claiming damage to the car. The photos showed one scratch about half the length of a dollar bill located underneath the front bumper. In the other photos, the scratch was not visible from the front or side of the car. There was no way for us to prove we didn't cause the damage because we did not check under the front bumper when we initially picked up the car. Zoom immediately charged a $500 CAD deposit to my credit card and asked me to open a claim with my credit card company. When I called to complain about the charge, the Zoom employee asked me to identify myself and said he had been "dealing with a lot of the same situations this week". That tells me this is typical practice for this company. Since I had no evidence that we did not scratch the bumper, I was forced to place the claim or else I would have had to pay for the repair myself. Zoom did not provide an estimate from a repair shop prior to charging me the $500 and I was unable to place the claim until I followed up with Zoom and requested it. The repair estimate they sent me was about $1200 USD, which is unreasonable for such a small scratch underneath the bumper. This is the first Google review I've ever written, but I feel strongly that this company is not trustworthy and that consumers should be warned against renting from them. If you choose to do so, record the initial inspection when you pick up the car and check every square inch of the car prior to driving it off of the lot.

People here do not understand customer service. While trying to up charge on everything. I have never been charged extra on insurance at rental car place such as budget or Avis but here. When they hear you are using AMEX, they up charge you the insurance. I’m like ok, I’ve already Uber here so what’s the point of going to another place. There was no explanation or any details given. Seems like the front is very incompetent. Next on the return they want to charge an extra day for being late on the return by 15 minute over grace period. Sounds like this place doesn’t really know customer service or just want to take advantage of every opportunity they have. Next I did call in to try and extend the booking but they wanted 3x the amount of the original booking. That is is atrocious way of doing business. Everyone beware. It’s tragic how the owner is oblivious or it is the staff who writes for their owner? First thing I have asked is what can be done. The staff negatively took it and said no we will have to charge you the whole day. So again, staff training goes a long way. If it’s the owner, writing this message, then good luck with you business with this type of response. Second of all, it was not $40 dollars per day. Was at $20 a day and racked up to double from their fees. Its quite amazing how they conduct business in this type of transparency. None of the staff there has a good sense of customer service. Next the owner likes to dig into peoples business because he is a sour on how he conducts business. I rather Uber to the airport and rent from budget at a transparent rate.

I would NOT recommend renting from this company. I rented a car through work for a business trip so I asked for a small compact SUV, they gave me a small car. I was fine with it because the car had a lot of features to make up for it but no winter tiers, no all wheel drive and no windshield insurance which is ridiculous in Alberta. I had to return the car early because my work trip ended earlier then expected. I came to the office to return the car and even though it says open at 7am it was closed. I had to call for an employee to come open the shop. He was nice but that was a huge annoyance. Because I returned the car early I expected a refund for the difference. I was told I have to speak with a manager for refunds like give me a break! Overall, cheap is not always good quality so keep that in mind with this company. Update: zoom saw the review I posted and the manager called me to clarify the policies and my booking. Because the manager was upset about my review, he threatened to report me on a ‘false review’ for sharing my experience as a customer. Instead of calling to clarify what the agreement was and did not even apologize that there was no employee during their posted business hours. I’m not going to be intimidated to change my review. If he had called to clarify and had not been rude I would have gladly changed my review but his attitude on the phone was very aggressive.

We rented a car from this location and had a very bad experience on the return. The guy was very rude and he went to check the car. He went to the front of the car and showed me that there's a chip in the windshield and I have to pay for the repair. It was not visible even at the time of return. When we took that car the sides of windshield were covered by snow and we could not see. You know when you rent a car you don't go in that detail because you trust. This company charged over $1,100.00 to my credit card for the windshield repair. I also remember at the time of taking the car, he was asking to take insurance from them and I said NO, I already have coverage from my insurance. At the time of return, when the windshield issue came, that guy told me you did not take insurance from us so now you deal with your insurance for this damage. The message I got from this is that I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT INSURANCE FROM THEM....SO NEVER RENT FROM THIS LOCATION...CAN'T TRUST.

Will never know how their service is as my family and friends will never use this company ever again. We had booked a rental for our trip. Due to a slight delay in our flight arrival the business was closed. They had our flight number so this would have been known to them. My wife left a message on their voicemail immediately on arrival. Never received a call back even 4 days later. Since we did not get a call back we did not get a rental. We requested a refund through Expedia that a “refund is not possible” do to the company policy. A refund is simple and possible, refund the money received for the service not provided. Edit: impossible to call when on a delayed flight so the explanation from the business is nonsense. We were not delayed until already on the flight so not reasonable to expect us to anticipate the length and call when we’re expected to have our cellphones off. Again a refund is simple and possible.

When arriving at the Calgary airport I called for their shuttle service and was informed that they would only take the driver and expected me to leave my family behind (30-45mins to complete the pickup) and then I could I go pick them up. So I decided to not leave my family and paid for a taxi to take to their offsite office. I was then told that the insurance I had purchased through Expedia was not enough and made me upgrade before they would give me the car. We now need to drop of the car off at 4am in a few days before our flight and was told that their office and shuttle service is not open at that time and we would again have to pay for our own transportation to get to the airport. So in the end we will end up spending almost $100 extra. The 3 staff including the manager at this location did nothing to help or try and solve the issue and basically said to bad that’s our policy.

STAY AWAY! Worst rental car experience! Extremely rude and unprofessional staff. If you value your time and piece of mind. Do not rent here. I'm not even sure where to start with what went wrong. First off, they make you drop off the car at 7am, conveniently changed the time on me because I had drop off at later time. They are scamming you with lower rental rates but making it mandatory to purchase insurance. My insurance was covered through my credit card but they forced me to buy their insurance. They are literally willing to sacrifice customers and be rude. I am 100% sure all the reviews hereare brought off or written by the company because there is nothing good about them. They make my rental experience so bitter!! Again stay away and spend your money where it's valued.

Will bait and switch you into believing you are getting unlimited mileage then mention you have to pay 50 CAD a day. If we would have known how they ran their business we would have used a car rental service at the airport which would have been cheaper, and more convenient. While you are there , and upset at them for their tactic they will tell you to call ace customer service; which when you call ACE they just call the same company back. Questionable that any of the reviews below are real. Writing this as a warning. Revising per the owners comments, they are affiliated with ACE yet when I call ace customer service it all goes back to Zoom? Yes questioning if the reviews are real , I see you have a 2 star rating on yelp. Hope you have a good day too

THESE GUYS ARE SCAMMERS. If you are considering a rental here, I would pay extra and go elsewhere. When I picked up my Rental car, I used my American Express for insurance as which they took careful inspection of. On return, I had a perfect trip, no collisions and scratches or any form of incidents, no coffee spill. The guy on immediate arrival points to a dime size indentation on the rear door. Then they offer to submit the claim to AMEX for me and said maybe it was rocks and wind… the bill for this was $1000. You can imagine how these guys are scamming. I will also report them so I hope they get audited. Check the yelp reviews for their scams. Obviously this google 4.5 stars is misleading.

Good car. Terrible service. Car rental agent made my girlfriend buy excessive insurance she did not need. When she returned the car, they claimed it had damage. They pressured her into leaving 1000$ in deposit to cover the damages even though she had insurance. Otherwise, they said they would send her to collection and that it would affect her credit score. All that before assessing the cost of the damage. If you don't mind dealing with unscrupulous and undereducated "car rental agents", this is the place. *Edit: They quoted 2200$ in damage to the car and decided to keep most of the deposit after the insurance paid them. I posted the picture for people to witness their lack of integrity.

I treated myself to a rental car for a course, and visit to Calgary. ….what a treat. The service was great. I failed to notice zoom is not onsite at YYC, however, they answered the phone right away when I called, and, I was in a shuttle van to the shop very quickly....really efficient, affordable. I enjoyed my Toyota rental car very much. The whole process was very easy and fast....thanks! They are also very helpful, and polite. I highly recommend them. I hope they can keep up with their excellent standards when they get super busy. I was glad I rented from them when I saw the lineups at hertz etc.

I have made several trips to Calgary in the last couple of years. I have rented a car each time from the Mgr Max and his Team at Zoom. Their service has been consistently excellent. The cars are relatively new, low mileage and spotlessly clean. The Mgr Max is very professional and takes his business seriously. Max or one of his Team picks me up or will drop me off to the Airport. The Calgary Airport is only a 5-10 minute ride from their location. I will continue to rent a car from Zoom in the future and will definitely continue to recommend them to my friends and colleagues!

Do not rent from Zoom! They may seem cheaper, but they will scam you by cancelling your fully-paid reservation on arrival for no reason, telling you to wait for a refund, and then not agreeing to refund your money later on. Fortunately my credit card company stepped in and covered the unreturned payment after several months, but not after we had to pay for a last-minute rental. We otherwise intended to pursue them via small claims court. Not sure how this company is still in business. Max was very rude to us after our overseas flight, zero customer service skills.

The transaction with renting was very smooth. The staff were all very friendly, professional and nice! The shuttle service was already at the airport when I arrived. The amount I paid for the rental is super worth it. The condition and brand of the car they rented is great. The interior is very clean and well-maintained. I accidentally left a bag of treats in car and I only realized when we got dropped of at the airport. The staff was kind enough to drop it off at the airport! Overall a great experience!! Would definitely rent with them again!

We have been staying in Panorama for a week ski vacation and in our way back it turned out that our document is expired. We weren’t able to fly back. We had to stay in Calgary for one more day and needed a rental last minute. We call ZOOM CAR rental and they fast and easy picked us up from the airport and set us up with one off the vehicles. We were able to continue our trip. The best part was that all the forms and everything was filled out in five minutes and we were on our way to explore Alberta. A great place to rent a vehicle from !

Super solid experience with zoom. They got everything prepped and ready by the time we got here. The car was clean, and any concerns about the driving and handling of the car was resolved immediately. We took it up to Banff. They also kindly gave us an extended grace period on our drop off time which allowed us more flexibility! Excellent experience! Prices significantly cheaper prices than most other rental agencies - the cars are all new, well equipped and in great condition. Located conveniently close to the airport (and they provide a shuttle as well with really friendly drivers). The whole process from start to finish was quick and efficient. Zoom did not honor refund because we pulled a no show. Customs at Calgary was so slow that we were not able to get out the airport on time. We ended up looking for other options for our transportation. We never booked our car but Zoom and Expedia kept playing pingpong with us. Hard earned money down drain. I will never ever book a flight or any services with Expedia or Zoom. You both can K M A!!

Full marks for these guys. Extremely friendly service. The car was immaculate. I returned the car and left Calgary on the day of an unexpected snowstorm last week, and they got me in and out of the store and to the terminal within 15 minutes at the most. The guys who run the place seem like they're all friends and that comes through in how they treat the customers. Highly recommended!

I made reservation online for to rent a car for 4 days, price was great compared to other main stream rental companies. On getting to their office to pick up my rental car, the staff offered me a brand new Toyota Corolla hybrid. I was very impressed with the Corolla hybrid. The Service was good but lack of flexibility to modify reservation took a Star of my intended 5 Star rating.

My brother in law rented a car here, he noticed a small dent in the door, the agent told him it was too small to worry about, likely less than 2 centimeters, then on return they denied all of it and want him to pay for the damage. Yes, my brother in law should have had that written on the invoice but he trusted the agent who now called him a liar and actually swore on the phone.

We had a great service! The shuttle arrived on time to pick us up from the airport and the car pickup was fast and easy! The car was nice and in great shape! There is also a gas station right next to it. They were very friendly and nice to us! Yes we paid 9$/day for liability insurance which is not covered by your usual credit card so it’s fine by us! Would rent again for sure!

When we first arrived the staff was really nice and we got a great car that was really clean and fuel efficient. But when we wanted to return the car at the end of our stay a staff member was really rude on the phone when we called in. Also please note they only pick and drop you off at the airport so if you needed to be dropped at your hotel you have to take a taxi.

I always a little bit stressed to rent a car, but with Zoom rent a car is perfect. They give me the best service I can get. No extra charges, pick up and drop off was easy, and the costumer service is great. They are very helpfull! They made the entire process as easy as could be. Picked me up from the airport and had me in the car about 10 minutes later. Car was clean, well maintained and made for a good rental throughout the week. Drop off was even easier. Gave them the keys and was on my way. They offered to drop me off at the airport too. Car was great, shuttle was great and prompt. Staff friendly. If you don't rent cars a lot - It is pretty common to require proof these days of full coverage insurance to opt out of rental insurance - I see a lot of complaints about that, so heads up, bring proof that you are covered. Seems like that is the source of the poor reviews here!

Called Zoom before return as I was going to be late due to a traffic incident. Jas was very helpful in extending my return for 1 hour, Upon arrival Jas was quick to wash the car and perform an inspection no issues, He then drove me and my friends to the airport. Very easy and friendly service would recommend.

Word of advise!!!! Make sure you check your windshield as you will get charged for a stone chip weather it was there or not. Our vehicle had over 10 stone chips which we couldn't see at pickup due to frost. Now they expect us to pay for the new windshield. Bad business practice!!!!

I was a bit hesitant to use Zoom Cars because they were off site from the Calgary airport. However, after my flight, there must have been 200 people waiting to rent cars at YYC! Also, the price was amazing and I got a brand new car. I would definitely use zoom cars again!

Zero customer service i called and asked for car sharing details , he just cuts me in between and was saying so unfriendly that we don’t have anything so harshly.. it sounds weird for customer service

Wish I could go lower than one. Experienced unprofessionalism and racism. “Shuttle driver” tossed our luggage out and tried picking a fight. Your parents and workplace should be embarrassed for you.

Great service, very accommodating. Pick up to and from the airport was easy and quick. Only about 5 mins from Calgary airport. Would definitely recommend, much cheaper than renting at the airport.

Don't even deserve 1 star. Calgary location is terrible. BEWARE SCAM. STOLE MY MONEY!!! Use Drive Force they know how to treat customers!! Hope this helps others not to lose money!!

I managed to get a last minuite van at Calgary Stampede! It was a life saver, great for last minuite rentals, there is a shuttle to and from the airport as well!
