I am an ardent seeker of great authentic Indian food.I live in Victor Harbour and drive to Adelaide searching for delicious curries almost over every weekend. I must admit my seeking has come to an abrupt end thanks to this amazing hidden gem. These comments are being made after a thorough search of over 5 years or so. The place is humble(looks are deceiving)but the staff and food is an absolute award winner according to my taste buds.My regular order is chick-pea curry with bhatura(fried bread) and shahi paneer(off the menu, vegetarian version of butter chicken)with absolutely scrumptious thin-crispy dough garlic naan.Sweet lassi or mango lassi(smoothie type drink) is a definite starterwith papadums. There are atleast 10 Indian restaurants in the 7 km radius of Marion road from this restaurant but this one is on the top of my list. The curries are not overly drenched in oil or too rich in butter to make tummy go for a ride the next day.It is just a perfect blend of spices and herbs. The taste reminds me of the food you would get served in big fat Indian weddings back home.Give it a crack,it is worth a 2 hour drive for me!!

I have ordered a butter chicken and raita from Zafran today. I am not a professional cook but I prepare almost all south indian dishes fairly good taste. The quality and quantity was very very poor. If it's possible to give a negative star I would have given negative star for this restaurant. you can cheat people who doesn't know the real taste of butter chicken. Pls understand that Butter chicken means not just putting some chopped tandoori chicken in the grated tomato sauce. I ordered via menulog and took the home delivery by paying $5 extra. I don't know what time they delivered the food at my house. I was waiting for more than hour and I didn't receive any call from the delivery person. Just to clear my doubt I came and checked in front of my door and I noticed that the ordered item was sitting in front of the door on the floor. As a courtesy the delivery person should have make a phone call or at least knock on the door to get my attention. Totally unprofessional behavior from the delivery person . I will never order or visit this restaurant again and never refer anyone to this restaurant.

I eat Zafran bean curry with extra spice in someway everyday, whether it's at night with rice and veg or for breakfast on toast. I love it! some may say I'm addicted to it. i just feel really good when I eat it! what I also love is that the team @ zafran are passionate about their cooking and being able to cook the best for you. I am always enthusiastically greeted on the phone and once I place my order I hear the words"I will do that for you". they make me feel special and when I arrive to pick it up there's always a big "happy hello" and a feeling that it was a pleasure to have cooked for me. service and quality of product is always important to me and I have been known to travel far for it. lucky for me zafran is just around the corner but if it wasn't I would still travel far to get it.

Brought three other friends to come savour the fantabulous chicken tandoori biryanni and goat curry here. All of us were over joyed with the flavours and spices served. Not overly sweet, just spicy and hot as we have requested but not enough to numb our tongues or brains. We even ordered to take away. That speaks volume of the high standards esp all four of us are some of the most well travelled all over the world enjoying some of thd best Indian cuisise in Middle East, South East Asia and our motherland (of food to us, at least) in the Subcontinent. But we had to primed ourself up in a nearby "petrol" kiosk before visiting this dry joint. Lol.

Terrible place, how they managed to get 4.6 in the reviews is beyond me and very suspicious. I ordered the lunch special chole bhatura but they only gave one bhatura, every other restaurant gives you 2. When I asked the owner rudely shouted this is lunch special. And please don’t reply to this review with call me because you had the chance to sort it but didn’t. Food was average and they charge you beforehand which is something I shouldn’t have done so beware . Place was empty on a Sunday which isn’t a good sign and there was no one collecting takeaways or Uber/courier drivers. So please don’t believe the fake reviews.

I drive past numerous other Indian restaurants to patronise Zafran. The food is authentic, tasty, well presented and good value for money. Staff are friendly and professional. My go to... Chicken Vindaloo, cheesy garlic naan and cucumber yoghurt with the best papadams in the known universe.5/5 JR ps.. portions always ensure a nice leftover lunch the following day

Zafran Curry Delight did the catering for our daughter's engagement party on 9th February, 2020 . From the first time that we went and met them to decide on a menu, to the actual day of the party we have nothing but praise for the professionalism and great service from the proprietor. The food was beautifully done, no request from us was too difficult and the punctuality with which the food arrived was impeccable. I would recommend Zafran for any event and will definitely be using their services in the very near future. Well done!

Please remove the dish Malabar Beef from your dish. I recently moved from Brisbane to Adelaide and was so excited to see Malabar Beef on you menu. I brought that Malabar Beef and it’s the worst curry that I ever got from an Indian restaurant in Adelaide. I have not tried any other food from the restaurant. I got a humble request that if you don’t know to cook Malabar beef please avoid it from your menu. Don’t think if you put coconut cream to any curry and you can call it Malabar beef or Malabar fish.

  • Cat Steele

Ordered the samosa chaat, chicken Tikka masala and sag paneer with a side of Raita and Safran rice + garlic cheese naan and while the shop itself is pretty modest (more of a takeout spot than dine-in), wow every dish had just such excellent flavor that made it worth eating in! The owner is also such a nice and enterprising guy! Really recommend this spot!

We have been going to zafran for quite a while now and it’s the best Indian I’ve had in Adelaide. The naan bread is insanely good, fresher than I’ve ever tasted. We have never had a bad dish from here but our go to is an extra hot vindaloo and a hot butter chicken, both are consistently amazing everytime. The owner is lovely too. What a gem of a place.

Ordered lamb briyani which contained very old pieces of lamb that were dry and without flavour. The rice also didn't seem fresh, and very little seasonings like coriander. Bland and the worst briyani we've ever had. Beef rogan josh was just very average and again the spice mix seemed watered down for Western taste buds. The only decent thing we had with it was the freshly prepared spinach cheese naan which was delicious.

The food made at Zafran Curry Delights is the most amazing Indian cuisine I have ever had. I live quite a fair distance but will travel just to eat here it is that good!!! Truly amazing service and best Indian in the world. If you love Indian and you have yet to experience this place please take the time to discover this amazing food Zafran Curry Delights produces - you will not be disappointed. Thanks again

  • Suraj Maharjan

I ordered a chicken jafareli, garlic naan, jhol momo and lal mohan. Jhol in momo was not tomato sauce or paste instead was all colored sauce, chicken was alright, garlic naan didnt have garlic in it but had colored sprinkles outside and lal mohan tasted bad( it was also colored). Overall bad experience. I had it menulogged for my dinner. Had to eat sth else cause I couldnt take it anymore from my 2nd bite.

  • Suraj Katuwal

I have been here twice. Once via Ubereats. The place has very good Nepalese dumplings (Momo). The sauce was amazing and momo was not so oily like a lot of places have. The lamb Biryani I had here was so good. But, most importantly the goat curry and their garlic and butter nan were the best. The prices are cheap and the portion size so good. Very happy with the place. Would revisit for takeaways.

  • Ajay Rathod

Might be good food but owner isn't. We ate the food but didn't the enjoy. I checked the online timing & owner isn't quite happy with the dine in as he want me to finish less than 10 minute as he closing early (9 pm). I done the ordering at 8:42 PM. This one is my first visit at there & most probably last one also.

Never left a 1 star review... But these guys deserve it! Ordered dinner just after 6, told a 6:45-7 delivery, 8:15pm no food, we call the restaurant they say it was sent over an hour ago and to be patient then hung up, food arrived at 9pm HOT so obviously not sent over an hour ago, the food was undercooked and flavourless, I ate a few mouthfuls of each dish and threw it away, never again!!!

  • Kayleigh Tyler

I wish I could put into words how much we love Zafran. Last week, we ordered three days in a row, just because the momo’s were THAT good! I need a constant supply of that delicious achar dip. The curries are also delicious, with the chicken jalfrezi being another favourite of ours. Between great food and great customer service, I can confidently recommend Zafran Curry Delights to anyone.

The food at Zafran Curry Delights is absolutely devine. I have been coming here for a few years and have never been disappointed. It is truly the best Indian cuisine in all of Adelaide. Don't be fooled by the size of the restaurant. Once you enter, it will offer and provide much more than you bargained for. The owner and staff are all wonderful and are very delightful.

Writing a review because this place has provided me with the best comfort food since i’ve been in Adelaide. This place has the BEST chicken momos (with this yummy spicy sauce) & paneer masala I have ever had. The mirch & masala is fantastic !! This is my go to place to order food from when i’m feeling homesick & need a good desi style treat :) Keep it up guys !!
