"If I could give less than one star, I would"
"If there was an option to give ZERO stars I would select that because 1 star is too high of a rate for this location!! This locations employees I truly hope don’t represent the Zara Values!! HORRIBLE service and experience every time I go in!! On one occasion my friends and I went into the store to exchange an online purchases, the LiNE was extremely long so as we wait in line, one of My friends went to check an item that’s next to the register, the cashier yells “get back in line, we are closing and don’t want people shopping or looking at items as they wait in line” she yelled loudly as there were other people in line! I believe it’s marketing 101 that the items that are placed near the register are for people to look at and purchase!! We didn’t make it big deal and just complied to her rude demands but every time we have gone into this location we have experienced POOR customer services!! I have not met one nice person that works at this location including the MANAGER!! My friends and I will not be shopping from this location! Another situation was an attempt to return an item as we are not allowed to try on products at the store due to COVID19, which is understandable but after making a purchase worth $170 dollars (My purchase alone), as we were planning on going to the store to return our items we got sick with COVID19 and as a result we are mandated to quarantine for the safety of the public"
"Manager is HORRIBLE"
"I’ve been shopping at Zara decades now, from the states to Paris and Milan! However, this by far was the worst experience to date! I was accused of stealing by a nasty sales manager with a Slavic accent today at 2:00pm on 1/17/23"

If I could give less than one star, I would. I should have had a clue when I tried to enter the Kids area from the mall entrance, and discovered the doors were locked. A sales person watched me through the glass, impassively, almost a smile perhaps. Offered no direction or help as I tried all the doors, all locked. Confused as to why a salesperson would not even attempt to communicate, I looked around for help - walked a little further down the corridor and discovered there were some unlocked doors. Why she couldn't have gestured to try further down, I have no idea. For reference - this is the white woman with short blond hair and a piercing - if you want to figure out which employee would be so bizarrely unresponsive. Once in, we browsed and then approached the changing rooms where clearly other children were being offered changing rooms. I (if this is useful - brown skinned woman with child) was turned away, and told we are making an exception for this family - interesting, they were white but maybe that's neither here nor there. We were told to try out the clothes out in the open. So we did. Picked a shirt and approached 3 different cashiers, only to be told they were closed or closing (this at 7pm, store closes at 8pm ). One employee (brown skinned, curly hair) suggested I try paying upstairs. We went up and were shocked to find a line of about 50 people winding around the floor, all waiting to pay. We thought, oh, that can't be that bad - we see this in Zara from time to time during sales.. I decided to time how long one of the male cashiers took to ring up purchases (there were two males, one short hair, the other long hair - maybe by now the manager has figured out which shift this happened on). The longer haired person took 15 minutes to ring up one purchase, perhaps that was an anomaly, the next one will be quicker - but no. He took 10 minutes with that too, all the time half heartedly folding the clothes, looking around, chatting with his fellow cashier. There was no urgency in his work, even as the line continued to grow (by now there were 15 people behind me). I went up to an employee and asked if I could purchase the shirt I was holding online and then consider this an order pickup - she refused. I pointed out that based on the speed of checking out and the length of the line, it would take about 2.5hours before I could pay for the single shirt I had picked out. She said that I could not pay for it on the website. I asked here what they were going to do since the time it would take to check out everyone would be long past closing. She shrugged and said they were understaffed. Now THAT I didn't believe, I had just seen 3 staff milling around and chatting in the Men and Kids section. She herself was folding, she could be opening a new register. At that point, I decided that $17.99 was certainly not worth the next 2 hours of my life and left the shirt, and the ridiculously long and growing line of frustrated customers.. All this to say - if you want to shop zara, shop online. The staff at the Portland store clearly have no concern or desire to support customers. They really don't care about the sale of products. They seemed zoned out, tired, and almost unable to empathise with others. It's been the most dreary, inefficient and frustrating shopping experience in Portland, at least for me and my family.

After we quarantined, on day 37th of the purchase we attempted to return the items but they refused to return the items! The return policy during a pandemic is absolutely HORRIBLE and to make things worse the way the sales people talk to you is degrading and simply RIDICULOUS!! If I am unable to return my items I expect a good customer services as I’m not asking for free items rather spending my hard earned money!! Maybe the result of the POOR customer services could be I am Black MUSLIM girl but Zara and this location managements needs to do better! Customer service trainings are definitely recommended for the associates that work at this locations! If they’re so miserable working at Zara maybe get a different job! But this people don’t belong in sales/customer services with their bad disrespectful attitudes!! Mind you I have been to Zara in Europe, Seattle, & Denver always an Exceptional services but this Portland location really needs some MAJOR improvements!! From reading everyone else’s reviews! It’s very obvious the management don’t read and implement changes based on the customers feedbacks but I’m leaving a comment in hopes it actually reaches the right people!!
Manager is HORRIBLE. Came with my mom to return a couple of shoes that she ordered online for my daughter. The items weren’t delivered for about 1.5 weeks post online purchase. They have a 30 day return policy but from the shipped date, not delivered. So it cuts down a week of your timeframe. And these were Christmas gifts so of course we needed time to wait. Holidays are busy for everyone. Anyways, my mom was trying to ask about this and the manager rudely snapped at my mom, cutting her off mid sentence saying “LET ME FINISH.” Uh, excuse me?! She made an exception but was a god awful woman. My mom tried asking something and again, was yelled at and cut off by this mean and angry lady. The main associate who was checking us out apologized for her behavior claiming she’s in a bad mood. Upon reading reviews I realized that she’s having a bad life, not a bad day, apparently, and hates the world. Why are you working in customer service if you can’t handle managing your emotions? Put your big girl pants on, plaster a fake smile on your face, use your customer service voice, and help people. Or get a different job where you don’t have to interact with anybody if you hate your life so much. I love Zara’s clothes for my child, but won’t continue shopping here if I’m continuously met with the same attitude. There’s no excuse for it. And I won’t let any sales associate, manager or not, demean and yell at my mom. That’s out of line and uncalled for. My mom is the sweetest woman who remained courteous and calm throughout this entire situation. She even thanked her for making the exception. But regardless, raising your voice and being ugly to paying customers needs to be addressed. Hopefully I can find someone to contact about this. They need to replace this woman, since we’re not the first and won’t be the last to experience this unprofessional behavior.
I’ve been shopping at Zara decades now, from the states to Paris and Milan! However, this by far was the worst experience to date! I was accused of stealing by a nasty sales manager with a Slavic accent today at 2:00pm on 1/17/23. ( she refused to give me her name) I am shaking at how rude and nasty she was to me. I purchased a couple of items at the downstairs men’s department, and with little time I did not get a chance to try them on. So once I did and realized it did not fit, I decided to return the exact same waistcoat I purchased. Only to hear that the item did not match the receipt. Cause the receipt had a XL and my item was a XXL. Are you kidding me! (An obvious computer error) I have worked as a design professional for 20 years designing clothes for multiple brands attending fitting and putting tech spec information! And even a none design professional knows there isn’t much difference in size. However the manager became extremely nasty after I was trying to explain to her that I purchased the waistcoat at this location and this was the receipt they gave me. Her tone and attitude became even worst saying it was “questionable” so I can not take this item back. What exactly was she questioning? I swear, it is stores and people like this, why retail stores are dying. If they are not following you around a store they are now questioning your receipts for a $22.99 item that was on sale. It is infuriating!
Remember Ferrels costomer service speech: "Where's the pickle?" I've worked in customer service for 40 years & this store is a FAIL!!!! I took a $$$$$$ friend there from France because the clothing is fresh. The experience was mortifying!!!! He picked up 8 pieces of clothing to try on...the mens 2 clothing try-on rooms were closed! NO sales associates (I counted 4) spoke to us. NOT ONCE! My friend desided to try on 4 shirts over his tee-shirt & the female RUDE manager told him he had to "go upstairs" to try thing on, then insulted him more by telling ME "this is inappropriate! He needs to go upstairs!" as if he couldn't understand her!!! He choose to leave 5 pairs of pants to avoid the hassle & we made our way to the check out. The rude manager appeared to be having a conference with 4 associates, 4 more were just standing there. We walked up to the counter & as if we were illegally crossing a border, told to "Stand behind the line!" Again!!! No "Hello", no "how can I help you", "What do you see that you like", NOTHING!! I WAS MORTIFIED THAT I EVEN BROUGHT HIM TO THIS STORE!!! When a cashier asked us to "step forward" my friend said, "this is my first time as a customer" trying to lighten the air. NO SMILES, NO I'M SORRY YOU HAD TO WAIT...NOTHING!! ~ ZARA MAKE FRESH CLOTHING! CUSTOMER SEVICE at this store is AWEFULl!!! Won't go back & ABSOLUTELY WON'T RECOMMEND!!
They don't have shopping bags which is quite a nuisance. I kept dropping clothes because I had so many. Upon payment, I kept scanning my afterpay card from my phone but it kept declining. The cashier that was handling my order was new so she referred to the cashier next to her for help. This girl was like loudly chewing her gum, leaning on the counter and texting on her phone, without a care in the world. She told me to hold my phone a certain way at the terminal but the purchase still kept declining. I couldn't figure out why but I had to leave to pick my kids up from school and asked them to hold it until I get back. The sassy cashier told me repeatedly that they don't hold clothes, even though I was about to spend $300 there. She even told me that they were going to put all the security tags back on and hang them all back up immediately. Wow, okay, you can't wait for 20 minutes because my kids will be standing outside alone and I don't have the time to keep troubleshooting your terminal?? Wow okay. I ended up figuring out what was wrong. THRY DON'T ACCEPT AFTERPAY. They only accept Affirm. The cashier definitely should have known that. The three stars is for the clothes and for the employee in the fitting room who offered to get me sizes in something that didn't fit me.
I am not sure what they actually do in the store? I called to see if they had a shirt available as it was sold out online. It was a big deal for my daughter to have this shirt. I live 2.5 hours away and was going to have a friend pick it up or drive up to get it myself. The sales associate said there was a possibly of one in the size I needed at the store but refused to look to see if it was there because it could be an inventory discrepancy and she doesn’t do that. I explained it was a really big deal and I didn’t want to have I send someone there if it wasn’t in store or drive 2.5 hours if it wasn’t there. She again told me, she doesn’t really do that, it’s sale season, & even though the computer says it’s there it could be sold out, and she isn’t going to look for it, that’s not her department. Who’s department is that if not the sales staff? Literally the most unhelpful, uncaring, sales associate I have dealt with in years. I’ll call the Zara stores in California to see if I can have a friend or family member pick it up for me there instead of my home state of Oregon. Zara would have gotten so much love from us if they could have been the least bit helpful, we would have posted on SM but now I’ll just post about this experience.
I have never left a single review before but I am extremely frustrated with Zara and their policies and because I have received no help I’m resorting to giving a one star review. I purchased a $100 backpack from Zara and I really liked it. I had no plan to return it so I threw away the receipt. Within two weeks the stitching began coming undone. After speaking with someone at the store they said I would need to make a claim with corporate to exchange the item without a receipt. Kinda weird that a manager can’t approve an exchange in store, but ok I’ll do it. It has since been 4 WEEKS of back and forth, over the phone, emails, sending in photos, screen shots of my bank statements, banking information, item reference numbers from tags etc. They said they are unable to find my transaction and refuse to exchange my faulty item for a new one. I’m not asking for money back, I would understand somewhat more if that were the case, but I just want a non-faulty backpack. I asked to speak with a supervisor and they refused to escalate my issue. This was my first time shopping at Zara and it was absolutely my last. If someone from Zara is willing to help resolve this issue I will be happy to take down this review.
Absolutely horrible experience. I ordered a hoodie with my daughter name on it. I got it in the mail today. The stitching is coming apart and the E is crooked. It’s new with tags. She has not even worn it. I contacted Zara chat. The chats would end after waiting 10 minutes for them to respond. They would ask for my information. I sent it plus a picture and they would never respond. The 4th person I chatted with said I would get an email within 48 hours about my order. They said I would have to send back the hoodie to be examined then they would send a replacement. My trip is next weekend. The whole process will not be completed in time before I leave for my trip. Absolutely irritating. I requested a refund and went to try to order the hoodie again. The hoodie is available but no embroidery. It’s not even an option. Idk if it’s cause the hoodie is now on sale. But I can’t even order a second and just return the first. Now I am trying to scramble for a new hoodie from another company to get here in time. I have no idea where to even look. All I know is I will NEVER buy from Zara again. I do NOT recommend this company. Stay away from them.
The other reviews are correct, the manager is very rude and customer service was atrocious . It was a busy Saturday and only one fitting room was open (there are 3 in the store). There was a huge line (over 20 minute wait) so I simply asked if it was possible to open the others to help and was rudely snapped at by the manager saying they do not have enough staff and would I like to work there to help fill the gaps. I then asked if she could perhaps open another fitting room as she was just walking around the store to which she took great offense to and said I will not explain to you again, if I had an issue I can always buy online and walked off. The reason I come into the store is to try things on, that's the whole reason I am there and is not something you can do online!! I do understand hiring problems currently but that is no excuse for poor customer service. There was also plenty of staff in other duties which could and should have been moved to open at least another fitting room. I then thought to look online to see if this was an isolated incident but no there are many reviews detailing the same poor experience.
First and last time shopping here. What an experience. I received a jacket as a Christmas gift, went in initially to do an exchange for a smaller size, but after waiting in a long line to find that they don’t do exchanges without a receipt (flawed) so we went and ran a couple errands while waiting for my sister to send me the receipt and QR code (she lives in a different state) ALSO, the chick who let us know we could not do a return had zero customer service and no name tag... how can you hold people accountable when they do a terrible job? She was awful. So we come back up with the receipt to another long line... meanwhile, other workers are roaming around the store chatting having no care in the world. Waited in the long line for another 30 minutes. Since only 2 workers were casually taking their time working the registers. Instead of doing an exchange, I made sure the money went back onto my sisters card and did not do an exchange. I couldn’t imagine giving this company any money. Save yourself some wasted time and shop somewhere else.
I love visiting Zara, just not this location. Zara Portland seems to frequently change inventory and have the latest fashion trends, which is great, but the staff could do a lot to improve customer service. Most of the time I visit, the check out lines are ridiculously long. My mom waited 50 minutes last time she visited on a Friday afternoon. Today, the girl that checked me out in the men’s department was particularly unfriendly and even malicious. She didn’t even try to hide how annoyed she seemed at the line of customers behind me and repeatedly looked at her coworker, shaking her head and rolling her eyes while I was waiting for her to process a return for 2 items (which took her ~6 mins to complete). But the worst of this whole interaction was when she pointed the laser scanner right at my eyes while scanning one of my return items, which seemed completely intentional. Highly recommend not going to this location if you value your time and eye sight.
The lines to buy or return anything were ridiculously long. They then decided not follow the terms of their own return policy when my daughter tried to a return an unworn pair of pants that still had tags, but without a receipt. Anywhere I have shopped as a middle aged man keeps my card number attached to the purchase so they can just check my card and see the transaction (Home Depot, Lowe's, Fred Meyer, etc). So we stood in line for 20 minutes just to be told that no, we could not make the return, and had to call the number they gave us. My daughter did all this and the people on the phone were surprised it was even necessary. They said they would email her a copy of her receipt an 24-48 hours. 3 days later, my daughter had not received anything and called back. At that point in time they were able to get the information to her in 20 minutes. Then she still had to go back into the store to complete the return. A frustrating experience across the board.
Terrible terrible customer service! And Rude store manager! I bought a few pieces online and went to return! I had to wait there so the cashier put a magnet on each of them button up all the clothes on the hangers one by one while the cashier had such long nails that had a hard time buttoning up them! Is that my problem that cashier had like such long nails that could not do the job I asked to talk with the store manager after standing there like 30 min waitinng for the cashier to put the clothes on the hangers! The manager was so rude and she even raised her voice for us instead of apologizing! She said that is normal and we had to wait until all the clothes are back on hangers! I have never seen somthing like that in a store like ZARA! After talking with manager, when the cashier was done with the clothes she just said YOU CAN GO NOW! That’s it! I will never walk in this store again and will never buy any thing from ZARA!
I’m happy to have a Zara in Portland now because they are hands down better than Forever and H&M. However there are a few things they could work on. I wish that when they got a specific style they would get more than one size run of it so that I wouldn’t have to order so many things off line. Also on the weekends when I go there it seems as if girls stay in the fitting rooms forever. They’ll initially have maybe one or two items and then their friend/family will bring them like 10+ more items to try on and it causes this huge line. It’s just outrageous. What else bothers me is that I have heard sales associates say that if something is on sale online but not in store they don’t honor the online price so that makes absolutely NO sense. Overall though if you can go during the week I would recommend it and it’s a great place to buy moderately inexpensive trendy pieces.
Zara Portland is desperately struggling in service. Do not shop unless you have all day to wait and serve yourself. I needed to return an item so I attempted twice but had to leave because after 35 minutes in line, I could not wait any longer (I work and was needing to get back). The third attempt, I was 3 days outside of the 30 day policy. Not only did they not care to make an exception since it was their fault I couldn’t get it done within the 30 day policy, but they were very unconcerned and rude with no desire to make it a pleasant experience. I understand that the world is short staffed and I’m incredibly forgiving to those who show concern and effort to serve. If they had been sufficiently staffed, I would have made the return without any issue and there was zero understanding of that concept.
One of the worst shopping experiences I've ever had. The store was in complete shambles. Clothing was strewn all over the place, unfolded, falling off of hangers, many of the pieces of clothing had stains on them. Gross! The fitting rooms were a complete joke. First of all, they only have ONE open, even though there are TWO. I stood there waiting for someone to acknowledge me, but not one employee looked my way, said hello or even offered to ask how many items I had. I ended up just walking into a fitting room on my own and when I walked in, not only was it extremely TINY, but there was left over clothing, hangers on the floor, even a pair of shoes just strewn about. I was so disgusted that I just left. Never again. Management, get it together! Everyone is watching even when you think they aren't.
I went in to return an online purchase and as soon as I got there the line was already past the store entrance on a Wednesday. I noticed that the cashiers had no sense of urgency at all, which is the main reason why the line was so long. Then one of the cashiers was only helping people with purchases instead of returns, which is another reason why the line was so long. I understand that they need to make money and that is why they are focusing on purchases instead of returns, however the long lines could be avoided if they would just help the next person in line instead of picking and choosing who they want to help. How do they expect people to come back and shop with them if they’re not receiving the same level of service?
I occasionally shop there for children 's clothing (when Zara 1st opened in Boston several years ago they were very unique and cool) - becoming more staid and boilerplate these days, but still have a few standouts). The problem with the Portland Store is they never have enough sales people, most definitely do not train enough people for the cash registers and apparently have a company policy that cash registers should not be functional in all departments. A customer can spend a lot of time waiting to pay for their choices. Not a customer friendly store from that perspective - tho the employees are very friendly and try to be helpful. I would actually put my rating between 3&4.
30+ employees wandering the store doing nothing. One cashier for the entire store… dressing rooms are closed and the line to check out was over half an hour wait. When asked if they could add a second checker was flatly told no with no explanation. It’s one thing to be understaffed it’s a complete other just to be rude about it. Beyond that there were plenty of staff standing around talking to each other by the closed dressing rooms That made the explanation of them being understaffed seem impossible. And the clothes here are a good deal if you don’t value your own time. I value mine and I’m thoroughly disappointed with the customer service I received today.
I had never been to this store, so I came with a list of and links to the pictures of the items I saw online that I wanted to try. After looking on and collecting for 30 minutes, I asked for help to see if they had my size or could direct me to several items I couldn't find on my own. The desk person was pleasant and called someone to help me. However, when I pulled out my list for the person who came out to "help," she said "I can't be your personal shopper" and directed me to "look around" for them. She was very abrupt and not interested in helping at all. I walked out. The store has some nice things, but I won't shop there again.
Everything cost $50 each piece but my wife loves the style. Very professional and great material. It reminds me of back in the day explaining Levi's telling people they will last forever. The clothes at Zara have a quality that feels like it will last forever and a day while still having a soft touch. Again the prices for some items are ridiculous but it has tons of things to choose from. Coats are probably the best value but all the items look fancy and fun at the same time. Zara in Florida had a lot more options my wife enjoyed, in Portland she only found three items but I love the way they looked on her.
What happened to Customer Service? Is Nordstrom the only company that cares? The manager at the Pioneer Place Zara is completely apathetic to any customer satisfaction. He is smug and dismissive, and I won't give my money to Zara anymore because of it. All I wanted to do was make an exchange, but because my item was purchased in Europe, they wouldn't do it. Ultimately, I understand that this is a policy that won't change, but this particular manager's dismissive, highbrow, holier than thou attitude about it is no asset to Zara - he should really not be working in the Customer Service industry.
Once again, standing in a mile long line at Zara with just 2 check out staff. And multiple staff walking around straightening already straight racks. Zara does not support their staff or the people trying to make purchases from them. Half of what i order from Zara gets stolen in the mail, and when I realize 3 weeks later, the sizes I want are gone. When I call in, the phone people act like I'm doing a favor to purchase from them - typical European business attitude vs American sales. It is overall very difficult to purchase from Zara, and this is my last time shopping with them.
60 minutes to wait in line to return their stuff but it didn't happened because I have a job to go back to. The guy at the cash register takes his time to put each item in the hanger, walks away to put it on the rack and he goes back and forth on each item... no wonder people have to wait more 60 minutes to get helped. Zero communication and horrible customer service. There are only two cashiers and always a long line. Very poor management. Zara, If you want people shop at your store, please make sure you have enough staff to help. Get your act together. Thank you
Worst customer service ever. To return an item without a receipt they make you call a service number and you have to wait a couple of days for them to send you the receipt. The goal is clearly to make the process as inconvenient as possible. If they cared enough to offer an email receipt, it would have saved me a huge hassle. I will do everything in my power to tell others how terrible this store’s “service” is and I will not be buying another Zara item ever again. Profit over customer is not something I can support. The least they could do is offer store credit.
Horrible. Used to be way better. First of all fitting rooms are closed?! Why?!? They are completely open in Europe why is it closed here?? Second works till 6pm, which is horrible for people that work late and try to make it out there to pick up online order. Checked on Apple Maps and said they work till 8pm but when I arrived at 6:03pm they said they’re closed! They could even do a two minutes bar code scan and bring out boxes it’s really not that hard. Thank you for the security guy for at least trying to talk to zara employee and beg to do the process.
I recently ordered couple pants online. One didn’t fit and I was able to get to the store. They told me since I’m about a little bit out of the 30 days window they can’t accept it back. Pants still have tags and brand new. I ask if I can just get an in store credit so I’ll just buy something. They refuse both cashier and manager told me to call online and informed me they will send me shipping label for me to ship back. I called Zara and told me they can’t do nothing for me. First time buying something from Zara and unfortunately it will be my last.
interacted with multiple staff who all offered terrible customer service. line to check out took just under one hour because they had only one register open (even though there were 4 check stands and plenty of room to socially distance). the ridiculous wait time was totally preventable because there were ample staff on hand and with dressing rooms closed there were tons of employees just walking around. I’ve been to this store many times, even pre-pandemic, and this store is always unpleasant due to staff. corporate needs a training session here.
The worst customer service experience I have ever had. Received a gift that didn't fit, had the receipt and still unable to get a GC. The instore customer service was horrible, sent me to online customer service. Two agents hung up on me, and the third was infuriating and would not help at all. Line to check out took almost an hour, claims that they are "understaffed" since beginning of 2020. For the prices you have to pay, near Nordstrom prices, ridiculous customer service. Don't shop here. It's NOT worth it. Save yourself a headache and money.
Sounds like most of these people have never been out of Portland. Zara’s all over the world are packed, with long lines, just goes with the experience. Most stores look like a bomb blew up in them, because of all the people. Portland store is clean, organized, well stocked and not super crowded. You are spending a lot less for trendy clothes, you aren’t at Neiman Marcus. In fact, go to Neiman Marcus and try and deal with their sales people. Zara has great stuff, for reasonable prices, so just appreciate and quit complaining.
Absolutely adore their clothes but they have the worst customer service I have ever received, it’s kinda baffling lol. No matter what day or time you go there will be a very long line to check out and they have maybe two people at registers when there’s a total of four. The line also usually lasts at least 20 minutes. When you finally get up there the girls are very rude, do not want to help if you have any questions, and do the bare minimum of service. Go if you love the clothes but do not expect to be treated well.
Your checkout system has got to be one of the worst. Two lanes that go to two associates with no rhyme or reason as to who goes first. U have ONE person who can usually do returns so those customers just stand there while others just go ahead of them. The lack of any kind of customer service always makes me tell myself I never what to come back :( tonight was no different. It’s a horrible experience to checkout all while the employee’s say maybe a few words to u. It’s corporate culture and I’m officially over it.
I went to this clothing store with high expectations. It turns out that this store is only suited for specific types of people. For example petite and small. None of this clothing is for regular people and everything is cropped ( bad for school cloths if you have a dress code). This place has terrible customer service. It is hard to find help in this store and when you ask for help it is either short or indirect and no one to help you, everyone is behind a counter and "looking busy" or restocking shelves.
Every time I walk into this store, the line is always extremely long and takes forever. If you have an extra 30-45 just to stand in line, highly recommend. Also their customer service is not so great. On a busy Saturday afternoon, they have 2 people at the register. ♀️ I bought a pair of espadrille shoes, wore them once and they came apart. They did nothing to help me, not even store credit. I mean it’s a faulty item after all. I’d rather utilize my time and money some place else.
Purchased a few things online , went to swap out for different size but was told since it’s over 30 days they cannot exchange for the same item in a different size. Had to purchase one more, was handed a hand written toll free number to which they were supposedly going to help and only to get on hold for twenty minutes and told they will not honor the exchange . Surprised at their customer service level. I would understand if This was a discontinued item but they had shelves of the same items .
Normally don’t review but it is necessary in this case. Associate, Danielle was extremely rude and unprofessional. The way she spoke to each customer she interacted with was incredible disrespectful. Customer service is not the industry for her. Also, their fitting rooms don’t open until 11 but the store opens at 10? I’m confused by that and why it’s not posted anywhere for customers to know prior to going in. Will not go back to this location, solely because of the poor customer service.
I was in tonight and one the floor managers was super rude to me and my wife over a mask that wasnt quite covering our nose. Customer service was lacking. They were short staffed. I asked the floor manager why Seattle offers a military discount but Portland does not. She jumped away from me....so rude. You lost a new customer. ZARA management...you need to teach your employees to be much nicer to customers. Because without us. You'll be like all the others closing. My .02
Very poor customer service- and from the floor manager. Really disappointing because my daughter loves this store. I came in this evening with my daughter and niece. I realize people have off days, but the manager was condescending and unprofessional (in front of children and other customers). She stated she was “matching my energy” as I asked her questions and vocalized that the dressing room inconvenience was frustrating. I will never shop at this store again.
Worst floor manager of all time on the bottom floor, rude and demeaning. The cashier male or female I dont know anymore they all look the same, had no customer service skills. Tried returning an item and was told the 30 day window just passed by one day!!!? Really and I waited how long to get the item? If I would have known I would have returned the item back through the mail. Not worth the stress and mental anguish!!!!! Zara, your over-rated anyways!!!!!
Business tip: make it easier for us to give you our money, Zara PDX! What an interesting business model to have so many staff all around the store and only 1 person at the register during the weekend?! There were probably 30 people in line and the women in front and behind me were complaining that this long line is always the case when they shop here. Put folks at the register! Or hire people and pay them well enough to want to work for you!
The store opens at 10 while their fitting room opens at 11am. Which doesn’t make any sense. I was in a hurry to get something and leave and the sales person was like oh you can go around. Like I’ve had extra time. When I bring it up to the manager, instead of having some empathy and being nice about it, she was super rude and had no manners. She definitely is not fit for her position since she has no clue what customer service is about!!
This place feels like all of the bad parts of going to the airport. Mask mandate blaring after every song, insane lines, slow cashiers who treat you like your a potential enemy of the state. It is literally a circle of hell. I can’t think of any other store in my life where I’ve consistently ALWAYS to wait in line for 30 minutes. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve walked in and just turned around because the line is so long.
Zara would not take two of my online returns because they said I did not follow the return policy and because my clothes smelled like perfume they would not return them. When I asked to speak to a manager about this policy, I was told that the manager was unavailable. I will never shop as are online again and I suggest you do the same if they can make such incredible claims without any information to back it.
I returned items that I paid for on a debit card. I have yet to get a refund and it has been 10 days. If you cannot pay with PayPal (the refund I returned the same day pad with PayPal has been refunded), do NOT buy anything from these people. This is ESPECIALLY TRUE for the APP as there will be no paper trail.....and it will be your word against theirs. Plus the customer service left something to be desired!
The worst customer service across the nation, all the staff including the managers are neither friendly nor professionals, whenever you’re in the store and you ask an associate for help, they deliver you a message saying goodbye, when it comes to help regarding an online order, they tell you “ it is not our business”. Simply, they are the cheapest business, ready to lose customers for $10, how shame on them!
The clothing selection is pretty good and reasonably priced though more on the expensive side. The vibe of the store feels rather snobby, both from the customers and from the sales associates. Also, you will have to wait in a very long line to pay. The clothes fit me pretty well, though I have noticed that there isn't much here if you would be on the bigger side. The store is clean and nicely organized.
PLEASE!!!! Get more cashiers or be a little more helpful when it comes to the customers time! This is my favorite store since I was a kid but I don’t understand why it’s so hard for this location to be FASTER! A lot of people come shopping with really not a lot of time on their hands and we are already spending money on your store. DO YOU WANT TO MAKE MORE MONEY? Get at least 2 cashiers on each floor.
Return policy without a receipt only allows you to exchange the same exact item for a different size. Everyone I talked to was cold and brash. Asked for the manager and mentioned that every store at least gives you in store credit to still spend money in the store as I wouldn't expect a refund, and she said "We're not other stores". If I do business with this company again, it will be online.
Be prepared to wait 20+ minutes in line and then have them tell you the register is closed and you need to go to a different register. This has happened to me every time I have shopped here. Literally waited an hour and 15 minutes one time. Why do they need to retag and hang all garments when being returned? Love the clothes, but ALWAYS disappointed with the check out process.
I thought managers are supposed to de-escalate a situation… Not this one. She was demeaning, condescending and very unprofessional with the situation. No name tag no manners at all. I think they should be trained a bit more. This does not represent the company well at all. Nobody like that should be in management or have authority over a store and customers.
Bizarre that the fitting rooms close a whole hour before the store closes. I would understand 15-30 mins before close, but an hour before seems a bit much... Considering they close at 6pm (and therefore close fitting rooms at 5pm), it's basically impossible to shop after work if you work during the day. I ended up getting what I wanted at J Crew instead
Absolutely some of the worst service I have ever experienced in a Zara. When I tried to sit to try on shoes, I was chastised by the manager. When I went to make my purchase, I was told no bags, too bad, and had to carry my purchase out under my arm, out into the Portland rain. Absolutely unhelpful and horrible attitude on the part of manager and staff.
Shockingly bad customer service. Huge line and only one assistant at the cashier desk. Fed up hearing about retailers being low on store assistants due to the ongoing pandemic issues. It’s 2023 for gods sake! Start raising your hourly pay and get more people in. Inditex one of the worlds most profitable retail umbrellas. Do better Zara.
Been here multiple times on different days. This Zara never has the clothes I want in the sizes I want. Honestly, just be prepared for them to not have what you want at the store. The line is extraordinarily long on the weekends. Probably cuz there is only 1 Zara in Portland. Plus the downtown location is kinda hard to find parking…
Absolute trash... workers are really rude, instead of helping, they make you want to leave the garbage as fast as you can Fitting rooms close an hour and 10 minutes before the store closes. They have 3 fitting rooms and only 1 of them is open, personel are really rude Portland and everything in it became garbage
Horrible customer service, drove an hour here after work and they closed the fitting room line 30 mins before store closure and would let me in to try a few things … no announcement about fitting room closing was made or any kind of a sign…. The general manager was very rude and didn’t want to give her name !
It’s insane to me that the dressing rooms close way before the store itself does.. they were literally turning people away by 6:30 and they don’t close til 7.. would’ve definitely bought something but they wouldn’t even let me try on the four items I had.. would’ve taken 5 min. Lost a customer for sure
I have never had to wait that long to purchase merchandise from a store before. If you are selling that much stuff Zara then open more registers and hire more people. Line was halfway through the store. I even asked the person at the register if this was normal and she said that it is usually worse!
You’re waiting 15 minutes minutes in line to try stuff on and an additional 30 minutes to check out. No exaggeration. There are only row check into stations available. Kids department and one upstairs. Asked to put items on hold to come back later and they said they don’t put stuff on hold. What??
Two cashier for an entire store, and they close every register there is to open the one at the ground floor. Additionally, the employee wasn’t helpful and looked annoyed when asked about products and to check in the back. The items and range of merchandise are great. It’s just the employee.
Employees at this store were so mean at the mask and one of them said don't come back if you won't cover your nose... Wow!!! Mean... because of the health issues can't cover the nose. Definitely not coming back to this store. The other stores went and everything was fine. Employees polite.
I was in like for checkout and witnessed the manager being really unprofessional with a customer having problems with a charge. Made me not wanna come back at all. The manager is really childish and treated her customer super poorly. Never seen management act so horrible before.
If I could give this place less than a star I would definitely do. Shopping at this Zara was a disappointment. I tried some items and after being done I handle the lady the one item that didn’t fit me, and she snatched it from my hand not even grab it nice or anything.
I've watched so many homeless people stealing from them. I work nearby and it's insane. I just watched an elderly man walk out with a large black jacket. I've only seen one successful security stop a person. it's sad. Do better. Especially for the prices they charge.
I wish I could give 0 starts! 2 hours waiting to pay for 2 shirts. Only one register working. People saving spots in line for the entire family to come with more than 50 items. That’s absolutely ridiculous. This store has No repect at all for their customers.
I have been a ZARA customer for several years and I've been very happy with it until recently i bought a few pairs of jeans and they ripped within the first week of wearing them. Also, the register workers at the Portland location were very
HORRIBLE! The lines are outrageous. Waited in line for a return for over an hour. The staff only had one register open and the store was packed. Lazy, unwilling to help. Many, many complaints from customers waiting and no one was willing to
Trying to buy an item in store. The closest register to the fitting room is closed. So I wander through to kids and they won’t serve me because they’re closing that register. I walk up the broken escalator to the third register where there
I was waiting in line and the register suddenly closed. I walked away and left whatever I was going to buy. They lost a few hundred dollars in sales. I will never come back to this store. This is the second time I have this kind of
Don’t come here, I’ve been waiting in line for 1 hour to buy 3 pieces of clothing. I would leave but I’ve already committed and am next in line. The other registers are “down”…. Come on guys. It’s Sunday, this is unacceptable.
Awful customer service. Ordered a pair of kids shoes and tried them on in the house (never wore them outside), tags still attached and customer service would not accept them claiming they were “worn”. Absolutely ridiculous.
Zara invests lots of labor in so many things except people to take your money. The line at 12:10pm on a Thursday was way too long. Lots of associates on different floors who couldn’t open a register to alleviate the line.
The cashier Gabriel just helped me with a giant return and kept a smile on their face the entire time even though I know what they were helping me with must have been super annoying. Great customer service from Gabriel.
Drove half an hour to do an exchange, I was looking to get the same item just different size. When I arrived I was informed they were closing early and I was only able to do a return but no exchange. Very inconvenient.
Pathetic customer service. On a Sunday evening they kept only person for billing. After 20 mins of waiting they added one more cashier. However the Que was really long. They don’t have much collection for men
You need to wait forever on the line, you need to hire more cashiers guys, plus there’s no bags or basket so you have to carry the items you purchase in the whole time which I have never seen anywhere else
The worst customer service ever ! I had a very bad experience when I try to return some items the I bought on line. They didn't accept my return because the way I opened the box ... it just.ridiculous.!!
Drove in from WA to try some clothing out before I buy it, and the associates said the dressing rooms were closed for the day but that I could try the Seattle location. Really bizarre experience.
Great clothes. Good luck trying them on or even purchasing them. I’m stood in a likely half hour line after dumping half of what I wanted to try on. (Fitting rooms all closed) Hire more people?
Great experience and options. Customers in line were whining the line was too long. My advice: buy online if you can’t wait 15 minutes to check out. Ridiculous how people treat retail workers.
Excessive long lines, staff shortage and customer service is mediocre, at best. Shop on line is way better ! This store needs a do -over and flush out current staff and getting a new one.
Absolute garbage quality materials on the clothing, and the worst customer service I've ever had. They do not take returns, even if the garments have clear defects. STAY AWAY
Lines are slow and long despite the day of the week (don't even ask about the weekends), shouldn't be too difficult to have at least 2 cashiers at all times, no?
I wonder if stores realize how many sales they lose due to long lines. I mean I love me some Zara but I've seen 4 people leave or put things back in 5 minutes.
Customer service horrible!! Can't believe this just happen!! Not professional place to shop at all! No respect!! Never ever will I get shop here ever!!
Store is poorly managed. Closed most registers and fitting rooms. Only 1 person working register. Want to buy something? Maybe an hour in line. Crazy.
Needed to get shoes for a wedding, they had the style I needed but only up to a 11.5 which is fair. Bring in bigger shoes to get your fifth star!
When you have to line up to pay and see that tellers are taking people from queue doing refunds it’s Poot service! Does not make sense!
Poor management. They kept us in the line for 1 hour. Only one cashier was available and almost 50 ppl were in the line.
Great store only with new arrival items. Don't expect any sale items. If you find some, then count yourself as lucky.
The clothing quality is lower than the price point. The styles are good. The accessories are the best part.
I love this store and hope they never leave. Nice selection of clothes at great price point.
Update: Never go here anymore because the store is usually quite disorganized and chaotic.
The staff at this location have some of the worst customer service skills I’ve ever seen.
Really bad customer service, have to wait 1 hour on line to pay only 1 station was open
Never have enough registers open...expect to wait 30+ min in line
Curly hair guy can’t even fold, only scan and put it in a bag.
would shop here if they had more of a plus sized selection
