Had my brakes replaced by them January 2016. They turned all four rotors and put new ceramic pads on all wheels. I don't drive many miles on the truck but I am pretty consistent. All seemed good for about a year until Truck started to stutter badly when breaking. I basically ignored it for another 8 months until it got really bad. Figured I needed to change my brakes (forgot I had them done in 2016, thought it was 2013) and noticed some very unusual wear on the front rotors. Only the outer edge was wearing a deep grove, on both right and left tire. This is not normal wear and tear for brakes. Took back to West Lake Houston Automotive so they could check the work. My warranty was expired due to time (1 year), but I figured the wear on front brakes was unusual enough to warrant concern on their part. Instead, I am told this is normal (it isn't) and only thing they would do is give $100 off for a whole new brake job for 2 year old brakes (paid about 500) which would be 950. I didn't expect some full refund or job, just some responsibility for the condition of the front brakes (rear brakes ended up being perfectly normal). Felt the offer really didn't accept responsibility for a mistake on the job/materials/whatever. TLDR 1. They are right, I was out of warranty 2. They were wrong, that it was normal wear and tear for front brakes. Highly unusual problem. Honestly, more upset that they would say this is normal wear and tear, and how brake systems work. Also said rotors warp, which is an outright mistruth. Number one rule, don't lie to customers, because many of them know the truth.

I've been getting my vehicles serviced here for several years (and several thousands of dollars), lately I have decided to look elsewhere. Recently I had an oil leak issue that was resolved with a new oil pan gasket and head gaskets, no problem, I knew it was more than I wanted to do myself. 24 hours after I got my car back, my alternator goes kaput. Coincidence? Maybe. During this gasket procedure I left oil with them since it was going to be needed upon completion. Today, several months later, as I went to change my oil myself I was unable to remove the oil drain plug without damage, as it was torqued on with about a thousand and twelve foot pounds! Fortunately the threads in the pan weren't damaged. Just the bolt and a ratchet. Also recently my other vehicle experienced a coolant leak. It was 'using' coolant. Not normal. For the life of me I couldn't tell where it was coming from, yet the odor was VERY obvious and the reservoir was consistently needing to be refilled. No puddles on the ground either! Weird. Took it to WLHA and their mechanics said they too were unable to find a leak and it was good to go. It bothered me since they replaced my water pump prior to this event and I hadn't driven it much since. I took it down the road to a competitor and they located and repaired the leak. No more coolant odor nor lowering coolant levels any more! Thanks other guys!

Never written a review in my life, but felt this poor experience warranted a response. I came in on a Thursday morning for an oil change and to repair my windshield washer jets, which were not working. They said they would have it done by that afternoon and gave me a ride home with their shuttle service. After calling them for updates Thursday evening, they said they weren't able to get to it. Then Friday afternoon they still hadn't gotten to it (claimed lack of technicians). Didn't have my car all weekend. Then got an update Monday around noon saying they finally diagnosed the issue and the part would need to be shipped from the dealer, to be installed Tuesday or Wednesday! I haven't had my car available to me this entire time. Here's the kicker: they said it was going to be $1078ish for the oil change and the windshield jets. Nearly $1100 is extortionate! They claimed it was labor intensive and had to take the steering wheel off. I told them to cancel all work and charge me just for the oil change and labor they had already completed. $1100 for a minor repair that's not even a major engine component is completely asinine. I will not return to this business.

WLH auto is my go to car repair place. Andrew is amazing, I recommend asking for him. I am not the best at maintaining my vehicle, they will give you a list of things that need to be taken care of now or what can wait for a bit which is super helpful from a financial point of view. I also help maintain my parents and grandmothers cars but dont always have a second person so I cant drop off a car and have someone pick me up so I can go about my day. They offer loaners and/or will pick you up/drop you off which is super helpful if you have things to do but are down a car. On multiple occasions they have gone above and beyond as far as service, they didnt have a part in stock so they drove across town to get it to make sure I got my car back quicker. From my experience they dont rip you off. I have showed up with a flat tire (I work in an industrial area with constant construction) fully expecting to pay for a new tire and they have said no we can do a $10 fix and you will be good and didnt have to replace the tire for years.

When I moved to Kingwood two years ago, I drove an old 2005 Ford Escape. I always had a lot of anxiety about taking my car for service and especially inspections after being pressured to pay for repairs I didn't need just to get my inspection sticker at other places I'd taken it. I chose to bring my car to West Lake Houston Automotive after reading so many positive reviews and it was definitely the right choice. Everyone in the front office as well as any guys I've met from the garage are all extremely helpful and friendly. Any issues are explained clearly and the prices are so fair! When I bought my new car last spring, I made the mistake of taking it to the dealership for my first free oil change/tire rotation and the skeevy service staff and gnarly waiting area guaranteed I'd never be back. As long as I live anywhere near Kingwood, I will never take my car anywhere other than West Lake Houston Automotive.

Took my Honda in for break repair. Got a call later that my front tires were worn out, so I gave them permission to have both front tires replaced. They also had to replace some alignment parts. Two days later I got the call that my vehicle was ready for pickup. Driving home, the car felt very strange. Upon arriving home, I found the left rear tire was flat, and my original worn-out front tires were still on the car. I had to air up the rear tire just to get it back to the shop. The receipt showed that they had replaced the tires and inspected pressure all around. They obviously didn't. The manager on duty said he would refund 150 dollars to my account, which so far has not happened. The breaks are fine now, but I only wonder what else they missed or didn't actually perform. Needles to say, I will not be going back. Update: I finally received the refund several weeks later.

I won't come back here. I returned for a follow up less than a year after they did AC service on 2003 vehicle. Called ahead a week prior and they offered an appt day and time, then I dropped off car at 9am appt time to recheck previous work. I called several hours later and was told they were pulling it in now. I called 26 hours from when I dropped it off and again explained they were pulling it in now, again. They explained no work had been done yet so being disappointed and frustrated I went pick up my car; it was still exactly were I parked it. Brought it to Kings Crossing... If they simply would have been honest with the update on day 1 after having the car for hours, and transparent about seemingly being too busy to check my AC I might rate them differently, but that didn't happen.

UPDATE--- Owner called today and apologized for the inaccurate quote. He is even mailing me a check for the diagnostic and giving me a $100 gift card. What a great way to turn a bad experience to a good experience! Was told to drop my car off, I got it there at noon on Thursday. Never received a call that day to let me know what was going on with my radiator. I called them at 4:45PM and they said it would be the next day. They called at noon the next day to let me know a radiator for a 2006 Dodge Charger RT was going to be $889!! I called three other mechanics in the Kingwood area and they were all in the high $400's to low $500's. I was told to use one of them then and to come get my car and pay a $60 diagnostic fee. What a rip off!

Took my wife’s 2018 SUV in for an oil change. Previous oil change was performed here as well. Both services were by appointment. The shop has exhibited professionalism and solid service to our family over the past year. Five visits with three vehicles, all oil changes. So yesterday upon completion of the service the price is magically $25 more than the previous oil change. Same vehicle, 5 months later now costs $100. When asked, the representative told me they used a different oil. I don’t remember being asked if I wanted the “high end, $100 oil change oil”. Isn’t $75 enough to charge for an oil change? This is a shifty business tactic that tells me you don’t care about your customers and definitely don’t care whether they return.

Took my car in a couple months ago for a leaking axle seal. The shop said it was the transmission drain plug leaking so I took their word for it, a couple days later, fluid was still dripping and coming from the axle seal. Replaced the seal and the leak was fixed. Took it back a little while later for an evap system leak and was told it was the purge valve solenoid over the phone which would cost $1400 out the door. I requested the invoice after I had already paid for the $150 diagnosis fee and it had a spark plug job on it for $600 which they never spoke to me once about. Looked at the system myself and the problem was from a $3 fitting that was cracked. When I picked up the car it smelled like cigarette smoke.

Took our 2010 ford fusion in for a FREE Ac inspection I told them I over filled the freon and something else was going on 210$ later they took the over filled freon and said it was blend door that was broke and some other things happened the Manger called and apologized and offered to fix it at cost but we ended up going with Kingwood tire and automotive they were super friendly and called me with the amount 161$ out the door and that's fixing the car so... for 210$ dollars this place did nothing and for 161$ Kingwood automotive fixed it .I would make sure that you get a clear understanding what u are being charged with this place and make sure they call you before they perform work not just shoot a text

My son’s car was in an accident a few days before he deployed overseas. It has taken six months and the insurance has still not settled the claim. That whole time Stan has done everything he could to help speed the process along. He stored the car and it hasn’t cost an arm and a leg like I expected. He was very friendly and helpful and even though we haven’t quite settled the claim yet we’re getting close. I can’t believe the patience and the cooperation that he has given us in trying to resolve this problem. I live in Spring Branch but if my car is ever in an accident I’m taking it all the way out there. I just can’t believe that it could be in any better hands.

Use caution if you use this shop, I paid for an oil change here on my 2021 Chevrolet Colorado and not even a week later had a low oil notification, I definitely should have checked the oil level after the service but I expected a professional job from a "dealership alternative" On top of that I was charged for a new oil drain plug which was definitely not needed on a 2 year old truck and certainly was not asked for, they also charged $10 for checking various things and topping off fluids which they did not do as both my coolant reservoir and washer fluid were low. An oil change here could cost you your vehicle/engine.

The team at Westlake Houston Automotive never fail to provide the most timely and affordable routine or unexpected maintenance on my vehicles. Not only am I impressed with their mechanical abilities but also their passion to ensure their customers are taken care of first and foremost. My most recent visit for a routine oil change is a great example. A couple were getting ready to make the long drive to Atlanta and they noticed their tire would not hold air, they brought it into Westlake Houston and were in and out without any major impact to holiday their travel plans. They are the true embodiment of excellence!

I've been to three different shops in the Kingwood area as well as my dealership for car service throughout the years. If you are looking for car care you need to try this place out. It's the only place I go to now. Their pricing is very good compared to others in the area. They know what they are doing. Most importantly, they are honest with the work they do. Which is all too hard to find these days with mechanics. If something is wrong with your car, they fix it, are honest and friendly, and try to save you where they can. Give them a try. I'm sure like me this will be your go to mechanic.

I would not recommend West Lake Houston Automotive for an alignment. I had my car aligned in late August and had a sensor light come on shortly after. The sensor read that my car was out of alignment and I noticed my steering wheel was crooked. (Wheel alignment 101??) I was able to make it back into the shop today and was told that “road conditions and potholes” were the reason my cars alignment lasted less than 2 months. I was charged $65 for an alignment today after just paying $110 4 months ago for an alignment that wasn’t done correctly. I definitely won’t be returning to this shop.

The quality of service is horrible, took my girlfriends car in for A/C repair and it would’ve taken them three days and $377 for a simple blower motor replacement, did it myself for $250 cheaper and within 15 minutes. The next day the A/C stops cooling and it turns out, after dye and vacuum tests, that west lake auto sucked all of the refrigerant out of the system and I had to pay $50 for a new can of refrigerant because these clowns couldn’t do it right the first time. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE THEY ARE AS DISHONEST AS ONE CAN GET!

When I first moved away from home, I started having serious car issues. I had absolutely NO idea what was wrong, how to fix it, or where to go. A co-worker referred me to West Lake Houston Automotive in Kingwood- where all her family goes. The staff did a very good job of walking me through what was wrong with my vehicle, and assured me that it would be done the next day. Everything ran great after picking it up and now I go there for routine maintenance. Definitely the place to go for any car issues!

Called in to work at 3 a.m.Saturday morning, my truck broke down (Transmission). I had it towed to West Lake Houston Automotive, where i met the manager Kevin. Was'nt long after when Kevin called telling me the problem (transmission) needed an overhaul. Worked with me on the price (online coupons), and it was home that day. I was called in again at 3 a.m. Sunday morning and was able to report. Trucks running awesome. Wonderful job! I would recommend this business..Keep up the good work.

These guys are great! They really care and look out for their customers. My car broke down and I had it towed to them. After looking it over they told me that since it was under 30,000 miles, everything was still under warranty and I would probably get it fixed for free at the dealership. Meaning they would lose my business. I appreciated them looking out for me. Every time my car is with them they’re quick, easy to get ahold of, and very nice. I couldn’t recommend them more!

I can't say enough good things about West Lake Houston Automotive. They replaced the clutch on my 2006 Subaru Forester and the part turned out to be defective. They replaced the part, gave me a free oil change and even buffed out a few paint marks on the bumper and doors, all at no cost. So glad I found this place close to home. Everyone is very professional and trustworthy. I had been servicing my vehicle at the dealership until I found these guys and made the switch. Waiting area is very clean and comfortable with coffee, magazines, free wi-fi and TV available. Shopping and eateries are right next door which helps pass the time while waiting. They will completely take advantage of you. $900 for spark plugs, which unknown to them have just been replaced 6 months ago. 1200 for a brake job. That they were telling me this was causing my vehicle to shake violent through the steering wheel at 60mph. I asked them to test drive it to show them the other issues I was having…. That was not done. This place is a overpriced jiffy lube with a code scanner. Never again!!!! Oh yeah they dont back their work either.

So I tried WLHA. I was thilled how professional & honest they are. I have been with them ever since. They are like a dealership but not as expensive. They have fixed the little things they find on my truck & not charged me for them. I trust & respect this business.

I have been using West Lake Houston for ten years for most of my auto service. I have always found them to be professional and polite. When I have had concerns over some of the repair costs and shopped around I occasionally found a couple places cheaper in the short term, but the quality and willingness to stand behind the service was just not there like it is a West Lake Houston. I highly recommend this place for your general service needs.

Took my truck to dodge to get a manifold leak fixed and they wanted to replace my whole engine also service was awful. So I took my truck to westlake Houston automotive. Phenomenal customer service. They kept me informed at all times during the repair process. Did the repair on my manifold it works perfect. They also fixed my door actuator. The locks work better than before. I recommend this place to anyone. Keep up the good work guys.

Fantastic customer service and great work! Dropped off my Honda Odyssey to be serviced and received a detailed invoice upon paying that showed my vehicle health - things that were checked and okay and things that needed to be serviced soon along with pictures! At first it was good but the last time I took my Yukon, one of the workers crashed my SUV trying to drive it into the garage. Even though they did repair and pay for damages, the manager made it sound like it was nothing. It cost my time! We haven’t been back due to their lack of carelessness.

In from out of town and needed a really simple repair. They were friendly, transparent about scheduling, did quality work, and charged an incredibly reasonable price. I would have understood if they had a minimum labor charge, but this was better than expected. Getting great service for such a small job tells me that you shouldn't hesitate to trust them for larger jobs. Definitely recommended.

They have always done great work at a good price. Over two years ago a local BMW dealer recommended new brakes on my low mileage car. Its going on year three now and West Lake Houston Automotive said they're still okay and that the car will let me know when they need replacing. Not going back to the dealer. I find West Lake Houston Automotive trustworthy and will be using from now on.

Don't go here unless you want to pay $200 to have them "diagnose" what turned out to be a blown fuse to fix an electric window on a truck. But they wanted a total of, wait for it... $600 to change out a fuse box that wasn't broke! I went to O'Reilly's next door and bought a $3 fuse and fixed it myself in the parking lot! Sorry I ever went there to waste my time and $200.

Been going there for years and has shown consistency throughout. Earlier this week I was having a clicking issue that I was afraid would drain my battery. Sean got me right in and Tech Mark not only fixed the problem in a couple of minutes, but showed me how to prevent it, if it occurs again. Nice local business. Will always go there opposed to taking to a Dealer.

This is the first time I ever used them. My wife brought me the sockets used to remove the locking wheel studs. The mechanic did not put them back in the proper tool box in the car. They were left in the glove compartment!!! I guess I should be grateful I got them back. Not happy for my first visit.

Had timing belt replaced in Jan 2016. It broke in July 2016. Contacted manager Andrew and he was nice enough to honor shop warranty and replaced timing belt, tensioner, and idler pulley. Also sent over complimentary tow truck to get my car over to shop to be serviced. Good experience.

They are trying to charge me $200.00 to replace a car battery. Umberto gas indicated that ia for parts and labor. Thr part is a battery and the labor is connecting battery terminal. Battery costs 80 bucks. Commecting to terminal is 10 minutes. Screw this place.
