(updated 2/4/20) Returning here has been the best option. It is convenient to my work and home. Plus it is one of the few, if not only, full featured health club. With lap pool, hot tub, steam and dry sauna, racquetball and basketball courts, CrossFit, classes, indoor running track, free and machine weights, plus plenty of cardio options. It still needs some upgrades as the Verandah is over 20 years old. Hopefully they will make those changes over the next year or two. A shout-out to Jeff and Rick for getting me set back up with a plan to ensure a healthier life. Thank you. --- The staff has always been helpful. That is about all the great things I can say. Recently I returned to join again only to find that the price was now increasing from $109 to $120 plus tax and sign-up fees. The thing that blows my mind is it is at best a dated oversized health club. They have a pool, indoor running track, basketball and racquetball courts, free and machine weights, cardio and cross-training. It is better, the locker rooms are still dated by old lockers use the old key method. It is a positive that you don't have to bring your key. The biggest complaint is the price. They are nearing the price of a Lifetime Fitness or Equinox, yet they lack in appeal and services provided. I wish all the staff the best. I personally can't recommend Verandah at my discounted couple price of 120 plus tax.
I have been meaning to write a review for awhile. I used to belong to this club years ago. I rejoined a year ago. Nothing much has changed. PROS: It is never crowded. The clientele is very polite and respectful of people around them. The parking is easy and convenient. They offer clean towels and cold water. Good choice of weight and cardio equipment. CONS: PLEASE upgrade the locker rooms! You feel like you have walked into a 1980s time warp. Everything is tired, slightly dirty, and funky in smell. Many of the wooden lockers are old and ratty (a lot of numbers have fallen off) and they are sometimes dirty inside. The carpet is starting to seem nasty and frayed. The benches to sit on near the lockers are old and chipped. The sinks, chairs, and area to do hair look dated. At the very least, they could replace the carpet, benches and furniture! I will stay a member because of the PROS but I'm starting to avoid the locker room which is really a bummer. For the price you pay, everything should be perfect.
The Verandah Club is an absolute treasure for fitness enthusiasts seeking a serene and traditional experience. The gym, blissfully devoid of crowds, offers the perfect environment for focused workouts. The club's mature members create a welcoming and respectful atmosphere, making it easy to connect with like-minded individuals. But the true standout feature is the exceptional pool, which is an absolute dream for lap swimming. The pool's serene ambiance and ample space provide the perfect setting for uninterrupted laps, ensuring a refreshing and invigorating swimming experience. With its old-school charm and emphasis on a fantastic lap swimming environment, The Verandah Club is a true gem for fitness enthusiasts.
Top notch gym with great amenities. They have top quality barbells and weights. There's a nice little CrossFit area with a sled and a rack for pullups and squats. The racquet ball courts are beautiful. I didn't swim, but the pool looked great. This gym literally has everything, I was very surprised because I was expecting a basic hotel gym since it's on the same grounds as the Hilton Anatole. Here's a short list of the things I liked. Quality barbells and weights, CrossFit area, racket ball courts, snacks available to purchase, walking track, pool, punching bags.
I disagree with Scott's remarks. Yes, the transition process may have been tough, but now that jade waters is built the gym has its own parking and greater access. I cannot find a comparable gym in the area that is close to home and is as comfortable as verandah club. It's nice to be able to relax after work to enjoy the spa or be able to get a work out in. The facility has everything I need, indoor lap pool, cycling, squash/Racquet courts, basketball, indoor track, and laundry. And it is not as nearly as crowded as any other gym for the quality.
The best kept secret in health and fitness is available for memberships. The Veranda Club is definitely not a public Life Fitness type place. It breathes private fitness club. Amazing that there is a Basket Ball Court with pickup games. The locker room is very nice. The wet area is best in town. Sauna, stream, Olympic sized Swimming pool. Hardball courts, cycling, free weights, and machines. Just smashing.
Great club. I love the gym, the pool, and the friendly and attentive staff. They enforce maks in the gym, which I think is great to protect those who have higer risk of developing covid complications or even diying from it. Let's remember that while some people who get covid may experience no symptoms at all, other can die from it. Everyone should wear masks for the good of the community and the economy.
Lots of amenities from a weight room with any machine you'll ever need to an Olympic sized pool and a spacious area to do cross training. That's not even mentioning the sauna, jacuzzi, and plentiful lockers. Richard is very pleasurable to talk to and he and the rest of the staff will ensure a welcoming stay.
Facilities here were incredible. Whenever I travel for work I will book this hotel PURELY for the gym facilities! Pool is lovely too and front desk staff very helpful.
My new health club Verandah Sports Club and Spa has all the amenities one needs for a good workout. I truly recommend them to anyone searching for a workout place.
Very nice gym. I had a good workout there. I drove from Grand Prairie to get awesome customer service. Located in the Hilton Anatole Hotel.
Tara as Estitistian & Charlotte as Masseuse = Perfection - Locker Amenities Perfect
Been a member for 5 plus years, club is a bit dated but other than that, very nice
Great indoor pool and very helpful staff. The dressing room is really nice also.
This adult health club lacks nothing for health that I can see.
Excellent facility. Genuine and kind staff. Highly recommend.
Had the best guides learned so much about the monthly rates.
