"Overall 5 stars, would give 6 if can"
"I am concerned about the message this gym condones as recently Rob Rivest, their MMA/BBJ coach, has been propagating hurtful messagest about members of the neurodivergent community, there has been a lack of response or follow up from the gym that this coach publicly advertises to be affiliated with on his Instagram"
"Worst gym for MMA training that I ever went to over expensive the coach and fighter there think too highly of themself "

"An older hobbiest"
Overall 5 stars, would give 6 if can. Details below: There seem to be many fake reviews to try and pump down the gyms 5 star rating for what a man said, overall from my own experience these people reviewing have never even been to the gym or the sort with dicipline for martial arts. Some have purple hair, which says alot. As a solid reviewer and track record in reviewing around the world. I have been to many Jiu jitsu / MMA gyms, this is by far the highest level. Head coach Firas is more humble than many other coaches around the world that has smaller less succesful gyms. The classes are thought out in a realistic and systematic way, which is crucial. The first day I arrive he came down to greet me personally seeing I looked lost, very rare to see this else where and I was not expecting it. Overall he is very high level in his actual skills and coaching. The community is solid, not woke, very welcoming, many high level grapplers and strikers. To be honest I have not been going to Jiu jitsu classes (most can be Bollshet) in just over a year of my 3 years in Jiujitsu, but I have been coming to Firas’s classes 3-5 times a week. Thank you for bring back my passion for martial arts. 5 stars.
I am concerned about the message this gym condones as recently Rob Rivest, their MMA/BBJ coach, has been propagating hurtful messagest about members of the neurodivergent community, there has been a lack of response or follow up from the gym that this coach publicly advertises to be affiliated with on his Instagram. Attempts to reach out to this gym back in September, privately, about the conduct of coach Rob Rivest for bullying and hurtful messages about people with disabilities and they never responded. 2 months later there has been no response from the gym, and Rob continues to spread hateful messages and bully people online. I find this conduct to be unacceptable and hope that this gym would take some action to address this issue, cause at the moment I would not recommend a gym that condones such inappropriate messages and exclusion of members of the public. I question the integrity of such an institution and would appreciate if this matter was addressed in a more professional manner.
Worst gym for MMA training that I ever went to over expensive the coach and fighter there think too highly of themself . They just want to take your money to get their career going. Trust me I've been doing this for 12 years I've been to seven different gym for MMA and boxing and this place is the worst. And very expensive don't worry they will tell you you have to get a trainer and pay him very expensive for not very good experience of training. And yes if you don't pay them for personal training they will gang up on you and bully you that is what they do there.
Very overrated gym if you are a beginner IMO. The boxing coach is a class act though and the BJJ instructor was very kind. I respect the attitude of the veteran staff, they were very kind. Went as a noob. On other side, Zahabi wasnt exactly friendly with any of the new guys(all my time there not once did he say hello and always had a mean mug lol. Totally different online persona imo). Honestly, I'd avoid if you really want to learn. If you are a pro, you should go there though.
An older hobbiest. Had second thoughts about joining this gym given it has one of the world’s best MMA coaches (Firas Zahabi) and produces champions, but found it very welcoming and patient with people of all levels. Students are collegial. Would recommend Firas’s bjj class. Also took mma private lessons with a fighter out of the gym, Tyler Wilson, and wrestling with Coach Anatolie, highly recommend both.
Been there a few years and while surrounded by superstars and world class coaches, the friendships built in there are irreplacable. Firas and his coaching staff have transformed many people into combat machines while elevating the standards of the true warrior; to be compassionate, caring and humble individuals. This is and will continue to be my second home..
This Rob Rivest guy who apparently works for you all is leaving real gross and rude comments making fun of autistic folks online. As martial artists I'm also appalled by this disrespectful behavior & find a "coach" who behaves like this questionable. I don't think you want him ruining your brand/image over dumb actions on social media.
stayed for three days and rolled with straight up killers. everybody was very helpful and willing to share their knowledge and technique. the classes are well organized, and I met great people to hang out with in between sessions. my pilgrimages will lead me back there again, I am sure. especially now that they have the dorms.
Amazing gym in Montreal. Coach firas actually cares about your progress and this matters. If your new to combat sports this hands down the best place to start your journey. It's also doesnt hurt that this is the home of one the greatest MMA fighters of all time. Coach firas is the man that got him there so let that soak in.
Growing up around the corner, I took a class and nevertheless it was great, I was kid back then, but I remember seeing GSP there, and a few weeks after he was in the mma. So if you really wanna get great at mma, it's not just about the dedication you have it's also the great coaches and equipment.
Got to train here when I was in town for business. By far one of the best experiences I've had in my martial arts journey. The environment and leadership was unmatched. It makes me want to move to Montreal just so I can train here more. Definitely will be making it back sometime soon!
I’ve heard from a friend on how this gym treats Autistic people. Heck, they have a coach named Rob Rivest who has bullied my friend for her disability. The way that the gym tries to hide this kind of ableist behavior to keep their 5-star reputation is completely disgusting.
Amazing gym and great people. Great atmosphere and top quality fighters. There are many people with many different styles and it is a place for anyone who wants to learn some martial arts, gain confidence lose weight and just train like champions do.
It's extremely unprofessional that a staff member who openly endorses their affiliation with this gym continues to engage in immature and childish antics online. It reflects poorly on the business and owner. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.
I do like the gym, I gave it 3 stars mainly because they don't offer many classes during the later mornings that I would be interested to take. I'm not advanced enough to take the ones they do offer at the times more convenient for me.
Came from Toronto 2 learn martial arts & get in shape. Don't judge by exterior. Tristar is one of the best especially if ur willing to work. The ppl produced speaks 4 itself. Shout out to Tristar staff, podcast, and especially Neil
This gym is allowing one of their coaches to bully disabled people, refusing to address the issue, and allowing him to stay employed. This is not a safe or welcoming environment for neurodivergent people. Please beware.
I trained here for my visit to Montreal and had an amazing time. Coach Firas’s instruction is easy understand and high class. I would recommend this gym to anybody beginner or expert. Thank you for having me.
I feel like people in the comments who have never trained here shouldn't be allowed to make a review just based on internet court to discredit a gym reputation based on allegations of one of the trainers
Only gym or dojo I have ever studied in that took the side of the misogynistic bully gym-bro culture with no ability to govern the space. Zero discipline or respect. Avoid like the plague. 0/10
I did a free trial here last year and it was amazing. Unfortunately, I live to far to continue going. Excellent gym for all levels, and very cool to see the pros training right beside you.
I was passing through Montreal and I dropped by for a roll. Training alongside quite a few fighting legends in a Tristar atmosphere was a dream come true. Thanks Firas and the company!
Good people, Great training, If you want to learn new ways to defend yourself, work towards becoming a Mixed Martial Artists or just get in better shape it's a Great Place to GO!
Best gym I have been to in Montreal... Home of Champions. They helped me with my mental health and how to channel my anger. I wish I lived in Montreal ! Thank you coach Buzzsaw
Rob Rivest, the MMA/BJJ coach at Tristar Gym spends his free time bullying autistic women. Don’t recommend this gym when their coaches joke about people with disabilities.
I have tried to reach out to this gym back in September, privately, about one of their ableist coaches online bullying me for my disability and they never responded.
World Class Martial Arts coaching and great team. If you want to be a world champion start your journey here. Coach Zahabi will take you to the top of combat sports
Very easy to see how this gym has produced such championship caliber fighter's. Walking in you get a instant chill. A rush that brings a raw surge or adrenaline.
I came for private lessons and boxing classes here and it's a nice gym overall. As a UFC fan who lives in mtl i know this gyms rep but the prices are outrageous.
Great trainers, very knowledgeable and will push you to reach higher. Amazing gym, equipment and always clean. Staff and clients are welcoming and encouraging.
Your coach Rob Rivest is bullying people online about their disabilities. Utterly reprehensible behavior. Does this represent the values of your business?
The most elite Jiu Jitsu school in the world. The owner is the kindest most popular person I know. You can't find better Jiu Jitsu coaching on the planet.
Venez l'essayer ;)
If you're a serious MMA, Jiu Jitsu fighter I highly recommend visiting Tristar. Great group of athlete's and coaches. Be ready to put in work!
This gym is legendary for a good reason. Everyone can be a coach but not everyone can be a teacher. Firas is an amazing teacher
Top coach in Canada for MMA. Teaches technique, philosophy, motivation and educational understanding of sports.
Best gym I've been to so far. Enormous talent present everyday and you're free to do your own thing or join in.
The best Gym in Montreal and Canada. Can't wait for Covid to end so we can go back and train there.
Professional and amazingly good environment for beginners, training along with pro UFC FIGHTERS
Tons of nice guys and they were all very welcoming. TRAIN HERE! don't listen to the bad reviews
It's awesome to be trained by Firas Zahabi. It's one of the best BJJ Gym in the world I think
An excellent MMA gym with great instructors and community. I would recommend it to everyone.
I don’t recommend a gym that has a coach that bullies people online for their disabilities.
I can only speak for grappling, but they have great coaches and great training partners
Excellent gym pour mma et lutte. Spacieux propre meilleur gym d'art martiaux au Canada.
"This gym is excellent; it has been the training ground for world-class fighters."
Just stopped in while on vacation, great group, cool atmosphere, amazing coaching.
Our experience at TriStar is always great! The coaches are best of the best!
Firas Zahabi is awesome and helped me with my striking and take down defense
Very good coaches and pro training partners . I saw GSP there btw haaha !

Just passing through town and made me feel at home. Great place
Don't know how it popped up one star when it should have had 5.
Firas is a 3 in 1 trainer. He can train body, mind, and soul.
