Waited forever there was three staff on and one went to lunch instead of serving the person before us, while there were at least 5 groups of people waiting, she told some people who hadn’t booked they would have to book but then another staff member went and served them, the two remaining staff took forever with previous customers (one being the ones who hadn’t booked) then the lady who eventually served us rushed through it and couldn’t wait to get rid of us. My daughter has sensory issues with her shoes and we needed something particular and the lady couldn’t have cared less and offered very few suggestions to get around the issue other than tightening them - more than she does, something you can’t expect from a child every day. Didn’t seem interested in selling school shoes at all maybe this is because the school shoes rush just finished. It was like pulling teeth getting her to get different pairs of shoes to try on and she certainly didn’t offer any variations or ideas, she rattled off names of shoe variations within brand names like we were meant to know what she was talking about. School Shoe shopping is a traumatic experience for our daughter every year and we had already spent 5-6 hours over 3 days looking for the right shoes and hoped that these “kids specialists” would be helpful and help us solve the issue. Quite to the contrary it was a terrible experience and we will never bother going back again. My daughter walked out with me severely disappointed and upset about the way we had been treated almost in tears as she had hoped that these guys would have an answer to our shoe issues but they had been entirely dismissive as if they didn’t want us there at all. She couldn’t understand at all why the lady spent the 20-30 minutes that we spent sitting there waiting helping another girl try on many different sandles at their leisure but wasn’t interested in helping us find school shoes in the slightest and rushed us to get out of there. Don’t waste your going here unless you already know what you want and just want someone to go pick different sizes from the store room.
2nd attempt using the online booking rfid code and second failure to get a fitting for my children. I acknowledged the first attempt was during the New Years public holiday. I assumed staffing issues were the reason why I was the only person in the queue hence coming back today. No guidance on how their booking system works - automated acknowledgment and Customer service surveys. No notification when you’ve progressed in the queue and it’s your turn. Extremely frustrating to return to the store after hearing nothing for 2 hours only to have a staff member imply it’s my fault for not knowing that their system doesn’t provide notifications. Apparently I was supposed to know I had to wait in store for my turn to be called. Please provide a sign or something to guide customers on how your services actually work. If you are going to use technology - execute properly with clear guidance and instructions. Very poor form.
extremely poor booking system that resulted in a 45+ minute wait to be seen despite being first in their "queue". Employ more staff or stop walk ins altogether during back to school (I believe other shoe retailers do this). Also place a time limit on how long a fitting is permitted. A family prior to us took 1 hour and the shop assistant was even cutting up foot orthotics from material? It was so weird- when there was a queue of dozens out the door. Maybe you could operate it like a drs surgery with long and short appointments. You also had a staff member standing at the front door - a whole person wasted just standing there- when a sign and better proceedures in the first place could have meant that person was fitting shoes, not standing around with an ipad. Your shoes arent cheap- you arent a dept store and I definitely expect better when shopping from you.
We initially had our son fitted last year for kindy shoes. I was slightly disappointed that the sales lady wouldn’t listen and try a pair of Clarks however, she knew what she was doing. The cheaper Ciao brand sneakers lasted the whole kindy year and the only reason we needed a new pair was because he outgrew them. We didn’t need to spend that much on Clark’s after all! Our son tortured those cheaper shoes and they survived. And they weren’t just worn on kindy days! She saved us money and in hindsight, I am grateful. Today we returned for a fitting for school shoes and again, the fitting team were amazing. In and out very quickly and they were warm and friendly. We shall see you again next year!
We came in for my toddler's first shoe fitting and it was unnecessary stressful. I was concerned he wouldn't do well waiting so I booked the fitting a couple of weeks in advance and arrived on time. Our fitting time past and the staff continued serving other customers. As expected my toddler started getting unsettled as time went on and when I told the manager we had a booking she was dismissive. Finally I got the attention of the junior staff member who wasn't aware we had a booking and was subsequently really helpful. The fitting itself was really good. I recommend going at a quiet time rather than making a booking as the booking system isn't used.
Purchased a pair of ASICS shoes from this store before the start of school term. The shoes were not cheap and for the price I would have expected that they would lasted more than 6 weeks before they they become unglued at the toe. We were advised that it was wear and tear and the way our child walks. Interesting enough the same brand of shoe of very similar design on the same child lasted 12 months without issue. Neither the store or ASICS wanted to address the issue sufficiently. I will never ever buy from Shoes and Sox ever again or purchase ASIC shoes. I would recommend if at Chermside looking to other shoe stores.
Appalling customer service, whilst I had a booking and clearly know was next in line however some person comes to the counter no bookings and was served. Not impressed at all and then to add salt to the wound that staff member that then eventually served us thought it was ok to stop on her travels through and attend to customers at the counter whilst leaving us waiting for a while just to bring the shoes out for them to be tried on. Worst customer service clearly there is no care factor. Totally irrelevant that it may be peak time.
If I could 0 stars I would. Workplace forces unwell staff to stay on at work. As a shop who serves family’s and children, how would you feel if your child was forced against their will to remain at work after suffering an excruciating migraine asking to leave work and being told no. Appalling and and absolutely neglectful. Spend your money at a shop that cares for workers and not abuses them. Remember your kids will one day be in the workforce, would you want an employer treating your children this way?
Didn’t realise going in I needed to book an appointment, found the sign saying bookings were closed but to scan the back QR code. No acknowledgment from staff. Assumed I would be texted when I was first in the queue. Came back 35 mins later and no advancement in the queue. Had to wait again, finally acknowledged. I enquired and was advised that all people showing in the queue had been contacted - that wasn’t correct I hadn’t been. It was just luck that the sales person was now free. Fitting was okay.
SUCCESS! We went from my Preppie not wanting to get his school shoes because that means he would have to go to school, to him trying them on, loving them and wearing them home and super keen to start school! The sales girl was so lovely to him AND not only did we get 20% off but my boy also got a FREE pen (with an astronaut on it!) AND his very own certificate which now is blutacked to the wall above his bed. He’s told everyone! Thanks so much for making this a painless experience.
Paulina was our fitter and she was fantastic, so patient with my two year old who had a lot of energy that morning and wasn’t too keen on getting his feet measured. We went in for three types of shoes and came out with exactly what we wanted. I would definitely recommend this store, great service and great prices. I also liked the way our name was up on an electronic board to reflect our booked fitting time. It all felt very professional and just a lovely experience.
My daughter was fitted with her first pair of lace up school shoes yesterday, Paulina from Chermside was amazing, so patient, thorough and knew the ins and outs of a wide range of school shoes. My daughter left with "the perfect" pair and was given a card and laces to practice tying her shoes. From never doing laces, she has mastered them in only an afternoon! Couldn't be happier and highly recommend Shoes & Sox. Thank you Paulina!
Well signed throughout the store to tell you to book a fitting. I did it even though there was only one other family, glad we did! Paulina was so lovely right from the start and great with the kids. She knew exactly the right shoe for my narrow footed child and engaged with my wide footed child to find the best shoe to suit my requirements and the kids style preferences. Definitely recommend the store and salesperson!
Abusive against staff. They make sick staff members stay at work while unfit for duty. They don’t allow sick staff to leave. A staff member was out the back with a horrible migraine on the brink of throwing up lunch and was told to stay on. Because the worker was forced against their will to stay at work and she overdosed herself on 6 kinds of Panadols to try help with the pain. Managers don’t care about staff.
We had a wonderful experience at Shoes & Sox at Chermside. Paulina fitted my daughter for her first pair of school shoes and she was knowledgeable and delightful, putting her at ease. The other assistants (Jenny and Sha) were also lovely and made the whole experience relaxing and enjoyable. I’d recommend the team at the Chermside store to any parents looking for school shoes for their children!
Went to shop for school shoes for two of my children. Pick out 4 different ones I wanted to try. No sizes were avaliable for any of them and the lady kept bringing out shoes I had no interest in. She lost the interest of both the kids and I. The only one that was happy was my 2yo who got rainbow shoes but even the quality of those for $40 isn’t that great. Wouldn’t but here again or shop here.
Always the best service when I buy shoes for my daughter here. Today the young lady patiently spent time with my daughter to go through a lot of shoes (ASICS and Nike) that I am buying in a months time. She was happy to assist my daughter to pick the shoes best suited for her. Her service was amazing and she was very helpful. I hope her supervisor acknowledges her amazing effort. Thanks again
The team at Chermside is always friendly, helpful, and patient! Each and every team member is great with kids, and there's never a problem when we need to try on a new style or (yet another) different size. Also very helpful when exchanging out returning online orders. Have been coming here since my eldest needed her first pair of shoes when she started walking.
Booking process was simple with a lot of appointments available. Sha was amazing with miss 4 today (Saturday 2nd Jan 2021). Made sure we got the right sizing and noticed my Daughters narrow feet and recommended appropriate footwear to accommodate. We left feeling well looked after and felt that the staff had genuine care for their customers. Thanks again Sha!
Someone in the millennial marketing team had a ‘good idea’ on the back of the COVID wave. I find it ridiculous, that a customer has to leave email and phone contact to get a store assistant to help you. No privacy policy! NSW and ACCC will be interested! Don’t go there if you do not want to receive sales calls! You have lost a loyal customer guys.
This is our third time getting a fitting from Paulina at Shoes &Sox. She is so great with my son and always takes her time to make sure we are choosing the right shoe and the right size. All the shoes we've purchased have fit really well and lasted ages. Very happy customers and thanks again Paulina you provide an excellent service …
Very impressed. I took my granddaughter for a school shoe fitting. The staff are very well trained and exceptional with children. The young girl we had was amazing, knew exactly what brand/style would fit and suit my granddaughters narrow little foot. Made the whole process quick and smooth, can’t imagine going anywhere else now.
Waiting times are too long. You can join the queue electronically but still it is not practical as many parents with small kids want a quick and easy shopping experience. The shop assistant seems new and the sizes she suggested for our son weren’t accurate. I prefer the service offered some time ago rather than the new model.
Very helpful staff, even at peak periods (including before school term starts). Wide range of stock available to fit almost all shapes and sizes and the staff have always been willing to find the best shoe for each individual. Prices are on the reasonable side but not cheap, and sales are often run at end-of-season etc.
I brought a new pair of shoe for my daughter 3 days ago. Turn out the shoe were too narrow which rubon the side of my daughter feet and make them currel in. I try to return the shoe and they try to sale me sandles. In the end they said they do not have shoes that fit my daughters feet. I am disappointed about the store
I took my niece to the store in myer for some new runners. Emily was such fantastic help! My niece is shy and so was really excited when she saw Emily’s cool earrings and they even spoke a little about the things they enjoy. All in all we walked away with some pretty pink trainers and a very happy little girl.
I have been getting my kids shoes at Shoes & Soxs since they were little. This year, for the first time, one of my daughter's fitting was not quite right. I took her and the shoes back. She was refitted and and shoes replaced, no problems. This is why I'll always get kids shoes at Shoes and Sox (Chermside)
Definitely recommended Emma was outstanding My son is very fussy when it comes to shoes. She helped my son find a perfect formal and sports shoes for school. She had to make several trips at the back and she helped us today without any fuss. Thank you for having such a great crew
2 x staff Dealing with 1 client at the checkout and wouldn’t help in store No staff wanted to assist and. grab a size from out the back even though we said we didn’t need fitting Took 20mins with no service Bought elsewhere in 10mins - very easy transaction Staff need better customer service training
Got the kids all measured up for their school shoes. Booked a slot online, turned up on the day and got straight into it, no queuing or waiting around. The lady that served us was very polite and patient and gave good recommendations on the appropriate shoes to get. All in all, very happy.
Always get great service here but first time using the online booking system and it worked very well. The staff member who fitted my children was great and the experience was quick and simple (less than 15 minutes for two kids from fitting to paying). Made school shoe shopping great.
Was very busy but very understandable due to being back to school time & the staff worked quickly & efficiently as fast they could to keep the time spent waiting in queue low as possible, sales member Jordan whi did my daughter's fitting was outstanding. 10/10 for the whole store
Perfect KIDS SHOE shop, the staff are friendly and patient. The manager Paulina went above and beyond to keep us happy. They know their shoes and got the size right (so many shops try to push small shoe sizes outgrown by kids in a week!) we are amazed and will keep coming back.
Took my two kids to Shoes & Sox at Chermside today to be fitted for school shoes. We only had to wait a short time to be seen and Paulina - the sales attendant - had a lovely way with the kids. We’ve been happy customers of Shoes & Sox for several years now. Highly recommended.
Alexandria did the shoe fitting for both my children for their school shoes. She was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and great with the children. I could not have asked for better assistance. And their online booking system for the fittings worked perfectly too and was on time.
Incredible experience as always. Paulina helped us today and she was gentle, friendly, warm and made my little girls’ bi-annual trip to buy shoes for kindy an absolute delight. I love that we get exceptional customer service and great quality products from Shoes and Sox.
We had a fantastic experience for both Mr5’s school shoes fitting and Miss2’s fitting after a big growth spurt. The Manager, Paulina helped us and was friendly, knowledgeable and great with the kids. We got everything we were after and the kids were happy the whole time.
We had a very unsatisfactory experience at Shoes and Sox Chermside. The salesperson who appeared to be the manager was disinterested bordering on rude, and also treated other staff members terribly. We found the shoes we wanted but couldn’t wait to get out of the store.
We purchase a pair of kids sandals for our daughter during weekend trade. The team member was polite, helpful and prompt. You could tell they’ve employed the right people to serve their customers as they knew how to fit our child but also made sure we were happy.
Booking online was super easy and it showed us to be served straight away in store. The fitting expert was efficient (which is handy when you're fitting a toddler) and friendly and we found what we were looking for in record time. Great positive experience.
Terrible customer service and logic. Got told to wait the other side where everyone was getting fitted to only be told to wait outside in the line (there was no line). They let everyone else in front of me for fittings and service. No apology what so ever.
Fitter knew what she was doing and got my two children shod in minutes. The digital queueing system needs work because it texted us straight away after booking but then we still had to wait 25 minutes outside the store. Next time I will make an appointment
Have shopped here several times and the staff are just wonderful. Today was particularly busy with the lead up to back to school but all the staff & especially Linnel were very thorough, patient & helpful. Thoroughly recommend for shopping for kids shoes.
Had amazing service from Linell, she was able to help both of my young children effortlessly while making everyone feel comfortable. Very fast to get what we needed and was able to deliver a lot of additional information that I did not know prior.
Amazing service from the team. Despite the store being so busy the manager who fitted both my daughter's shoes was so kind and understanding of the kids jumping around the store. I also noticed the lovely communication between staff to each other.
Despite a small wait for our turn the staff were very attentive in apologising for the wait and reassuring me they'd be with me soon. They were very gentle and patient with my son and gave very balanced advice about which size I should get.
Ladies working in the store were lovely and very helpful however need to be trained how to properly measure and fit shoes. On two occasions my son who currently wears size US6 has been sized as size 4.5 and 5. We ended up buying size US7.
We’ve been to this shop several times and always received exceptional service. Alexandria was with us today and was very patient with my 7 yo twins who quite chatty and boisterous. Happy to go back for my older boy’s school shoe fitting.
Like the range of kids shoes. I think staff sometimes seem to get a little tired of working with kids, which is a shame, since it’s a kids shoe shop. Not really great specials. Usually quite pricey but the quality is generally very good.
So helpful and knowledgeable with the fitting and subsequent purchase. We're getting ready for big school next year, and it was nice to talk to someone who was able to help us navigate the sizings between brands too.
These ladies truly are shoe fitting specialists! My son was quite energetic and not listening well and yet they managed to still engage him and get the job done. Thank you for you help the kid's love their shoes x
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. And very skilled at trying to fit a screaming toddler Shoes are quite expensive but the quality far exceeds the shoes I've bought at places like Kmart and Big W. …
Waited out the front of store for 45mins even though I was at the front of the online queue. Discover the person behind me in the queue just walked in and got served first. Use the system or get rid of it.
Always a great experience. Booking a fitting is so important this time of year. The shop was full, but I didn't have to wait as I had booked ahead. The staff are always friendly and the service was great.
Super helpful and easy. Great with kids - calm, fun and patient with my little pocket rocket! Good range, a bit expensive but you get the fitting, advice and quality you pay for. Would recommend!
Fitter didn't listen to concern the sandals were too big for 5 yo. Said fitting good and he'll grow into them. 1st time wearing sandals he tripped on himself and tore knee and fractured elbow.
While the store was a crazy busy Saturday morning before school returns. Our service was fast and friendly - Josh was exceptional with getting us in and out on a busy day. Very happy shopper!
Would have got better service from Al Bundy. Waited in store for someone to serve us, although there were a few customers in store, staff passed us half a dozen times without acknowledgement.
The lovely, Jordan was amazing and very patient with both my children. Jorsan helped me select the right shoes and gave great fitting advice. Another brilliant experience at Shoes and Sox.
We have come to S&S Chermside for school shoes for the past 2 years. We came again today and had another brilliant experience. Many thanks to Gracie. You are so good at what you do!
Paulina was fantastic!! So warm and friendly, took the time needed (despite the shop being busy) and ensured the kids shoes were fitting well. A really, really great experience!
Efficient, friendly service. Such a busy time of year with everyone needing to buy school shoes but this team made it a stress free, pleasant experience. Highly recommend!
Friendly and knowledgeable staff made fitting two kids quick and easy at Chermside today! The ability to book ahead to avoid the queues at this time of year is fantastic!
Amazing customer service. Paulina was fantastic, so knowledgeable and so helpful. She made my daughter feel very special. We will definitely be back, thank you!
Booked an appointment, we were in and out within 20mins. Tailored service to each child, proper fitting and advice and a great range of shoes to choose from.
A man called Scott served us at the chermside store today and he was beyond helpful! Very patient with my daughter, a very good experience thanks to Scott!
Sales attendant was very helpful and super friendly. My son is usually shy around new people but he took to her instantly thanks to her friendly nature.
After a previous great experience in store went for the next size and waited 20 mins in the ‘queue’ just to be told they don’t use the ‘queue’ service
After shopping in this store for the last 10 years, I was absolutely appalled at the service I received today. Rude and unhelpful. I will not return.
Our shoe consultant Emma was amazing and so helpful, we didn't feel rushed even though the store was full of people. She was so good with the kids.
Extremely poorly organised. Not enough staff. Asked to wait outside in a que before anyone would assist with finding a size to let children try on.
We had a lovely experience today at shoes and sox chermside. Very happy and my little girl is super excited to have her first pair of school shoes.
The staff member we had was beyond helpful with my daughter who was a bit upset. Handled the whole experience really well and I was very grateful.
Highly recommended! Got friends’ shoes and socks here, for a gift! The staff that was assisting me was very friendly and helpful. Thanks Joy :)
The ladies here in Shoes and socks Chermside are so amazing specially this young lady who served us named Talie, she was just so awesome.
Super efficient. Very knowledgeable. I was really impressed. Walked out with school shoes for both of my little ones in 11 minutes flat.
Great experience quick and easy!!! I suggest making a booking online, wait times are long but with an appointment walked straight in!!!
Very helpful and friendly school shoe fitting today! Love that we can register in the queue so it’s easy to see when it was our turn.
Excellent service. The lady that served us was very good with kids. I will definitely be going back. Shoes are great quality too!
My son is autistic. Karen at Chermside was amazing - could not have done anything more to accommodate us. Fantastic service.
Patient with our kids and listened while they picked from different options. Thanks for the great customer service.
The fitter was very patient and understanding, especially with my son who has sensitivity around socks and shoes.
NO stock available for either of our children in a wide range of shoes we were looking at had to go elsewhere
First shoes experience and the service was relaxed and great. So sorry i didn't get the servers name. A man
Paulina was fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable and made buying my sons first school shoes easy. Thank you!
I had Paulina for our fitting and she was absolutely delightful with my son. Very happy with the service.
Only a short wait time which was fantastic. Shop assistant was extremely helpful, great recommendations
Amazing staff and amazing service. They have great patience with the kids and great styles of shoes.
Great staff, just minor issues with their system crashing. Could consider a digital loyalty system
Went to have our son fitted for football boots, listed on the webpage, but not sold in this store.
We got a lot of support and advice when fitting school shoes to our 2 daughters. Sincerely thanks
The staff were lovely and very helpful despite the store being packed. Great service as always!
The gentleman who looked after us was very patient and understanding and very easy to talk to.
Our shoe technician was extremely helpful, friendly and very good with our wiggly children!
Terrible. The shoe-fitter did not know the basics about fitting shoes. I was appalled.
Amazing fitting experience for both children. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Even though the store was incredibly busy the staff were friendly and patient
Very prompt, professional and friendly service during very busy time of year
Had a fantastic experience. Staff member was very helpful and knowledgeable.
Great range of shoes for the little ones and the staff had some great advice
