Romare Bearden Park in Charlotte, North Carolina is an absolute gem! This urban oasis offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and modern amenities. The lush greenery, picturesque water features, and vibrant flowerbeds create a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The park's well-maintained pathways are ideal for a leisurely stroll, jog, or bike ride. The open spaces are perfect for picnics, yoga sessions, or simply soaking up some sun. The skyline views are breathtaking, especially during sunset. What truly sets this park apart is the thoughtful design. The interactive sculptures and art installations pay homage to the renowned artist, Romare Bearden, providing a cultural touchstone for visitors. Furthermore, the park hosts a variety of events and concerts, adding a dynamic energy to the space. It's a wonderful spot for families, couples, and individuals alike. The facilities are top-notch, with clean restrooms and ample seating areas. The staff is friendly and always ready to assist. Overall, Romare Bearden Park is a five-star destination that enriches the Charlotte community. It's a must-visit for locals and tourists seeking a blend of nature, art, and relaxation in the heart of the city.

Highly recommended! This beautiful park with lots of space is located in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. Next to the Truist Ballpark (where the Charlotte Knights play) Romare-Bearden Park (RBP) has LOTS of special events, features, and natural beauty. There are festivals, art installations, an elegant illuminated waterfall that changes colors and glows at night, large boulders, numerous tables and distinct, themed sections to enjoy. One of my favorite parts is the Paris Memory section that mimics the cafe-styled outdoor tables and chairs in a long row. While there is a small homeless element, I’ve never had any issues or seen anyone have trouble. It really is a nice place to relax outdoors, without having to leave the city!

Its a beautifully laid out urban park, with several gardens, art installations, a water feature, an arbor area w/seats, bistro setting area, restrooms in a gazebo, sprawling picnic grounds and free public events. Sanitation of grounds is frequent. Poop bags are provided for our furry friends. I would give it 5 stars except there are many indigent persons that sully the restrooms due to lack of police patrols and enforcement.
Playground
There's ample room for playing w/Frisbee, Nerf and other outdoor games.
Restrooms
The restrooms are in gazebo at Church Street entry.
Dog-friendliness
All areas are open to fur babies.
Picnic area
The grassy knoll is on lower plateau across from Truist Stadium.

A beautiful slice of fun in the heart of uptown Charlotte. It’s located in the backyard of the Truist Baseball Stadium. The fountain is breathtaking and a great place to take formal photos with the city skyline in the backdrop. It’s also a known gathering place for many events. Last weekend there was a large group of people on all kinds of wheels (bikes, skateboards, hover boards, inline skates, roller skates, scooters, and more. There are plenty of places to sit and people watch. Walk towards the light rail station and you will find a quaint alley with restaurants with cuisine from all over the world. There is plenty to do if you want to be active and plenty of space to sit and relax.

Went for Mother's Day. I've been to this Park many of times. It's a nice place to take family for play time picnic, or just to relax. Also has waterfall for pictures or getting wet in the summer. Has toys toddlers can play with.
Restrooms
Men and women bathrooms. They try to keep them clean but with so many people coming through all day and all night they tend to get messy.
Dog-friendliness
Dogs are welcome at this park.
Picnic area
The picnic area is in the middle of the park. Nice soft grass. A big enough area you don't have to worry about being right on top of people and your family can do what they want.

In a 2017 article this park was listed as good place for Charlotte skyline photos. My observation is that a few buildings have been built in the area since that article which make getting a skyline type image more challenging. I still found it possible to capture portions of the skyline and other architectural images. It was worth my time because this was an impromptu visit. I was just passing through the area and it was close to the freeway. Having said that, I live 3 hours from Charlotte and would not choose this spot as a destination if my primary reason for visiting was to take photos of the skyline.

This park used to be super pleasant and great for an afternoon out. Unfortunately, I sat in it this afternoon and it seems to have turned into a full-blown dog park. I understand that people bring their pets to the park but the city really should be doing more to take care of the grass. This place was soooo stinky and smelly. The wind kept blowing the most awful strench and you could tell it was from animal urine and poop. It was awful. I love the location and the vibe of the people but this place is not what it used to be. On another note, the restrooms were clean and well maintained.

This park in Charlotte's uptown. Usually held the some celebration by Charlotte's government. There is also parking places near by. So people can park their vehicles there. There is a place you can see a all the tall building of Charlotte including Bank of America building, Duke Energy Building, Wells Fargo building etc.. Bank of America stadium is also a nearby place. Here are so many food trucks and shop, restaurant are there. Like Halal food court my favorite, then Vapiano pizzas, Queen city (QCBC). There are also some bar for those people who like drink.

  • Michael R. Ingelsby

The park has been an important break away from our south Charlotte suburban community. The park attracts us each time for a variety of reasons. Playing Frisbee, biking, walking, cooling off, picnicking, and frankly the list goes on and on. You will always see plenty of action in the park all throughout the year. Being so close to Truist ballpark, the action can be non-stop for the baseball ⚾️ enthusiasts! Bring the family, and support one of the covered parking garages in the ares on the weekend for the best prices which we found at $10 all day .

  • Jason Pinger

This party is always kept up. They do a great job of maintaining the property. You will see photographers both professional and amateur taking pictures. Located right outside the Charlotte Knights ball field and a few blocks from the Panthers Stadium is almost in the heart of Uptown. They have clean restrooms, in the summer whimsical water fountains to run through along with rock and waterfalls to view. Plenty of room to just relax or to have a great walk. Tonight was New Year's Eve celebration and it was very well done.

  • Brett

It was definitely an interesting experience. It was mainly due to the fact that Bank of America stadium was hosting Duke’s Mayo Classic. The park itself appear to be quite nice, although I visited after 7:30PM. I never felt like I was in danger, I was asked several times for a lighter by people on a quest to smoke crack, and strong smell of weed was pretty much constant, but still tolerable.
Restrooms
They were closed due to the event that was going on.
Picnic area
A nice grass lawn to lay out a blanket.

  • Mochi

This place is SO romantic at nighttime. The waterfalls and the fountains are so beautiful. There's also a Seven Eleven directly across the street, which is extremely convenient. There's even a little garden (as in planted food) in this park. I don't know who they belong to, but, do NOT vandalize them! There's a small terrace up the stairs behind the waterfall with the changing lights that's very pretty. This park is a nice, quaint place to pass time and take some cute selfies with that special someone in your life. :)

  • brandon bradley

Just a cool little spot to rest or eat lunch or anything really. Put together really nice and the park is beautiful. Tables are set up and there's two different levels connected by walkways and stairs. It's all handicap accessible as well. But the best part about it is the views of the city. You're smack in the middle and can see almost all the high rises. Really worth seeing. I took the picture below while standing in the grass field they have. Love downtown Charlotte. So pretty

  • Clint Boland

I love this park! It’s very close to my office uptown, it’s great to walk to if you work in the city and also if your visiting uptown, a relaxing green space to take a break from walking. It’s very well maintained and I have never felt unsafe there. There is a ton of restaurants that are all walkable to and from this park. There is a cool water feature wall with LED lights there and has a great view of the Charlotte skyline for some great photos. Highly recommend if you’re in Uptown.

  • Joyful Morning Cup

One of the million+ reasons Charlotte is the BEST city—so many clean and beautiful parks with lush landscape and foliage. The trees along the streets make it feel less like a concrete cube and more like home! I was too enamored by CLT and didn’t take many pictures. If you’ve never been here then you’re missing out on a unique city experience for sure! This particular park has live performances, waterfalls, fountains, and ton of wide-open grassy areas. It’s a block from Uptown.

  • Renee Wilson

Nice urban park. It has a child friendly area with pipes to bang and make music. It's very walkable and has a nice sculpture as well as gardens. Dog waste bags are provided. Unfortunately they're not always used so keep an eye out for poo if you venture off the paved paths. Based on the amount of sniffing my client's dog did, it appears to be a very popular place for dogs in the surrounding apartments to potty. Given that I'd bring a blanket if I planned to sit on the grass.

  • Elena Makoviy

It's a lovely park with statues and waterfall. There are benches for people to rest, also you can seat on the grass and enjoy the view. It's not a big park, but it locates in the center of Charlotte and you can see skyscrapers from here. Especially its wonderful at night time. I definitely recommend to visit it.

Really liked it here with the green space and well lit walk ways. The local crowd can get a little crazy but overall lots of families our playing by the fountain. Parking is limited and you need to pay to park. Check the website for more details but I think parking after 9 is free. There are also some late night eating spots next to the park. Try and take a few minutes and lay down to watch the city skyline in the dark. It’s very relaxing.

  • T RS

Nice garden in the middle of the town. Place to relax and large lawn for kids to play. From the park, one can witness a breathtaking view of city high rise buildings. Restrooms and water fountain on the park. Car parking is on the metered street parking on weekdays or the paid park houses around. The streetcar stops next to the park. Don't miss out nearby attractions such as 7th street market, French quarters, etc.

  • Abhinay Reddy

Lovely park in the center of downtown, all of Charlotte's skyline is visible from here. Was there on a weekday evening to see a lovely live concert with a jovial family crowd. Also opposite to Ink and Ivy, a cool pub. Adjacent to that is Mechant and Trade, one of the only rooftop lounges in Charlotte. Would recommend the whole area to anyone in or visiting Charlotte.

  • Brian M

A very well designed park in Uptown. It's two-tiered, which breaks the space up and keeps it from being just a grass lot in the middle of the city. Charlotte would make the space better for its residents if they got on people for not picking up after their dogs. At times it can feel like walking through a minefield, which makes it hard to fully enjoy the open space.

  • Jeff Weise

I frequent this park for exercise walks at least twice a week. The homeless problem is getting worse. Alot of the homeless are getting more aggressive as well. Also, people need to calm down with the scooters and bikes. I've almost been hit a few times by people going excessively fast or doing dumb things. Other than that, it's a beautiful part of the city!

  • mario andres

I love this park I come here all the time, when I'm in Charlotte this is our favorite meeting place where my friends and I hang out and go back to everytime we go anywhere, good place to find your friends and plan what you'll do for the day or just hang out , take pictures and have a fun time. This park is pretty, it's green and it's on a great location.

  • Francisco Sorto

I wouldve rated 5 stars but hey . The day I came here with my kids there was this black guy literally chasing another dude with a gun shortly after cops did come and detained the subject , it’s such a beautiful place to take your kids and family to but honestly I won’t be coming here anymore . My kids should have never had to experience that

  • A'shia M

This is such a great park to live next to! There's a great little walking area my dog loves to sniff around for a great sniffari and most people seem to pick up after their dogs which is great! The park is well kept and I enjoy coming out here with Gogi. I also just recently took my engagement photos here! Can't wait to get them back

  • JC RXN

House of soccer was an amazing event hosted in the Romare Bearden Park previous to the Arsenal vs Fiorentina Game, hosted in the Bank of America Stadium for the International Champions Cup. Thanks to the Organizers of this event I was able to received a pair of free tickets for the game, what an awesome experience all around. …

  • Spring Dasgupta

This park is small but such a haven in the heart of Uptown. People enjoy relaxing, playing frisbee, and walking their dogs here. Families bring their children here and they play in the fountain. There is often something going on at this park, whether it be live music or a festival. The Queen City has its New Year's Eve party here.

  • Local Contributor

Absolute beautiful park! There's a huge field to play catch or kick ball in. Or lay out in the field for a picnic. There's even a dog park for the fur babies. There's benches all over for sitting as well as a beautiful water exhibit. This park is right across from the baseball field and a block away from the stadium . …

  • Michael Pisarski

City of Charlotte has been working to get parks and open spaces uptown for the last few years. Romare Bearden Park is a great example of what they are aiming for in each of the four wards of Uptown. First Ward Park is open as well. Cannot wait for the trees to create a great canopy to match the rest of Charlotte's "Urban Jungle"

  • Ryan Loves Animal Crossing

Beautiful park. Excellent Landscape Architecture. Ample seating and area to stand and sit and enjoy the great views of Charlotte. Lots of movement with fountains and plantings, and fun places for the kids to play and make sounds. I was pleasantly surprised by this space, and would highly recommend that you visit just to see.

  • Curt

This is a quaint park to people watch, relax and take in the sun while surrounded by the uptown building scape. There are a lot of children taken to this small park area therefore you have to be careful, especially on the scooters, because kids run around without paying attention, so always be mindful of the children safety.

  • Ashish Jain

Nice park right in the middle of up town, it had some nice play area for kids. Went there over weekend with my wife and kid they enjoyed it gives a pleasant view of surrounding and has many different options nearby to eat.
Picnic area
Had small picnic area some people were playing music and enjoying the food

  • Yipsi Gallardo

I really enjoyed this park, is spacious, clean, it has good spots for instagram pictures and people use to go there to take family photos. Near to the park there is a street with some good restaurants as Valhalla (in front of the park) where you can have american food or mexican food, also drinks or cocktails.

  • Myra Bradley

Thank You Romare Bearden Park and The City Of Charlotte NC for providing the most sacred place that we could ever imagine for my Daughter's wedding . I love this park, despite the homeless scene who doesn’t bother me at all, the area is a safe and entertained place to bring your kids, fiancé or even your pets and have a quiet quality time in the heart of the city, been in charlotte for a year and half and is one of my weekly places to go

  • Bella SH

If you love the outdoors, the park also has plenty of green spaces and jogging paths that will provide you with the opportunity to run and walk. In addition, the park has picnic areas and recreation areas where you can enjoy beautiful views of nature and spend time with family and friends.

  • Lex voelker

Truly a lovely park. Located in the heart of uptown, this park is extremely popular and a perfect spot to walk your dog, take photos, workout, play sports or have a picnic. Highly recommend checking it out, parking is available on the sides of the street for a very cheap rate.

  • Lady V Wilson

The scenery within and around the park ALWAYS makes me smile. The dogs are so beautiful and friendly and their owner's are as well. I met BABY to she's a gorgeous black & white Old English Sheepdog....hoping I'm describing the correct breed, she was a stunner.

  • Neal Know

This is a very nice park and the location is amazing. I enjoyed walking through the park and playing in the waterfall. The only area that needs improving is the restrooms. There needs to be a person checking this area every two hours doing the day.

  • Sujit Khopkar

Jewel in Charlotte's crown! Amazing views of the Charlotte skyline in the night...kids love playing in the waterfall which looks amazing in the night with its changing colours. ..there will be people in the park even at 11pm on Saturday nights...

Beautiful center city park close to Bank Of America Football Stadium, BB&T Baseball Park, hosting many types of special events, and great for picnics, walking, running, frisbee, or just plain relaxing, with great restaurants and bars close by

  • Vinayak M

It's a nice park in the middle of the city. Evenings are pleasant. It has a big playground where kids can play and run around. The only prob is some kids do rash biking. I think they need to stop those bikes/scooters from entering the park.

  • Marcellus B

I recommend this spot. Whether it's for your pet or you're like me and just want to get away from everything and enjoy the night breeze, and just think about life. Yes, this the spot. Also nice views of high rise buildings and water falls.

  • Kimberly Hartman

We are from out of town and loved hanging out in this park. I wish it was warmer so we could have enjoyed it more. There are places to sit, take amazing photos, play, relax... I'd be curious to see what it's like in the weather months.

This is an amazing park in Uptown Charlotte right across from the new minor league baseball stadium. There are places to sit and eat, places to run, and places to play music. I wish more parks on Charlotte were like this.

  • SELENA ROYE

Unfortunately, I was there for the 4th of July Kaios. It was nice until the shooting and fighting began. Everyone was enjoying themselves until then. A beautiful array of cultures. I loved it, but the madness ruined it.

  • David Mickelsen

Dog owners ruin it. There are little signs everywhere denoting or dog feces has been dropped and someone was too lazy to pick it up. It looks like a new age hipster piece of art. Show your home town pride Charlotte.

  • K K

Was very excited to see the “skyline”, but it was underwhelming for me personally. I will say it is extremely clean and when do recommend to visit as there aren’t many places of interest to visit out in Charlotte.

  • Devin Johnson

It was an ok park beautiful scenery but only downfall is smelled like urine around some of the benches and alot of the homeless were there staring at your asking for money .Wouldn't be a park were I take my girls.

  • Ádina Santana

I was in there on July 13 at 9am. It is a beautiful places but I figured out that one of the homeless in there was chasing me. For this reason I ran away from the park and had no reason to give a better review.

  • Pam Grier

Nice place to have lunch. Near food courts to purchase food items and enjoy in the park.Shaded areas and tables. Just be aware that some homeless individuals may be in the area. Had no problems. Was comfortable

Fireworks were awesome as usual. We go every year. But this year people were scared, random groups of people running because someone was throwing fireworks into the crowd. This happened several times this year.
