The worst service I've ever gotten. I went to this place Tuesday night hoping to have a good time. The food was good. I got a young lady, Samantha, as a server which seemed nice. However she didn't come to our table asking if everything was okay and never refilled our glasses of water which is in my opinion the bare minimum for a restaurant. When the time came to pay I left 10% tip on the machine. While I was grabbing my card in my bag, the server took the machine to pay, I thought i took too long and that she had to put the number in again. She changed the tip to 15% (with tax which is equivalent to 17% total) grabbed my card from me without asking anything and payed. She then quickly left. I asked her for my receipt which she gave me just for me to see she changed the tip. I hesitated to go see her because I didn't want to seem like a "Karen" but I went anyways. I asked her what happened because that wasn't the amount that I put on the machine and she answered me with "when you go to a restaurant you're supposed to leave a 15% tip". This is totally outrageous she not only changed the tip I put, took my card from my hands, PAYED WITH MY CARD NOT SHOWING ME HOW MUCH IT WAS and then had the audacity to tell me I was SUPPOSED to leave 15% tip. I will certainly never come here again.

Stay away from this place! I will give this place no stars if possible. Ordered pizza and I know this came straight out of cheap frozen pizza box. The burger was a processed patty also from the frozen section and simply thrown onto a going stale bun, this is the worst food I've ever had in a "restaurant/pub" Fast food chains puts this place to shame! Extremely slow service, and the place was nearly empty. Choose not to tip, and the woman had the nerve to demand a tip, and loudly scolded me for not doing so and told me that it is mandatory and the law in Canada to tip?!!! Lol guess she thought that I was a tourist or didn't know the law and she can scare me or force me into doing so. At another table I overheard a couple that had order drinks and complained to the waiter that there was no alcohol in it and that it was mainly juice and water. This place is a scam, don't know how they are still open.
It's the worst restaurant I've been to in several years!!! First time at this pub, and I'm never stepping in again. The service was absolutely terrible. The waitress showed up late and then misguided us on multiple items. We ordered the famous fish and chips, which on the bill board said unlimited fish, chips, and tartar sauce at any time, but everything except the fish was extra charge. What the hell was that??? Even the fish fillet, which was small, greasy, and overfried, they said they ran out after 4 extra fillets, that too, at 8 pm. After that, she took our cards and charged us 18% tips without our knowledge and gave us the wrong bill, saying that the tip was included in the items, which was a blatant lie. We have the right to decide the tip percentage based on the service we get. A bogus experience.

The service was absolutely horrible. Over 1 hour to get my drink. What's worse is that I saw my strawberry daiquiri sitting on the bar for 20 minutes, melting completely before the waitress brought it. I ordered the St-Paul Burger. The bus boy brought the food out but left it up to the waitress to serve it. It sat on the waitresses station for 30 minutes, it came cold and tasted honestly horrible. It cost 21$! They have better burgers at McDonald's.. Sat down at 6:30. Got my food at 9. Couldn't get refills on water, couldn't order a second drink, food and drink just sat unserved forever. When it came to pay, the waitress made my boyfriend wait 25minutes at the cash even though she saw him there. All the other servers said only she can make the bill. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Confusing spot in Old Montreal. Stopped in for a drink while touring the city and couldn't figure out if I was on Bourbon Street in New Orleans or at a bar that was on the brink of closing. Granted I was there early in the evening and the wait staff mentioned it gets busy towards the late hours of the night. The sign outside the front door says "Showbar". Asked one of the bartenders what that means, and they mentioned they haven't done any shows since COVID. Seems like this spot might be a victim of COVID, but could be cool if they got the atmosphere inside figured out and followed through with the "experience" the signs and menus seem to portray. Didn't get any food to be able to review that, but the menu seemed to have a lot of standard bar fare.

They deserve a lower star but 1 is the lowest I can select. The place and location is great spacious and nice ambince BUT service was the worst since we got there for more than 10 we sit there and no server came to our table not even a host was at the entrance there! After I went to look for a server he came 2 minutes after, we asked for food and no food we understood that since it was already 1130 pm no big deal with it, however, we tried to order only two beers none of the two most usual brands at at place where available the server was not even being helpful or giving a nice service at all. We got our two beers and those where the worst 20 dollars spent in my life one of the beers was smelling truly bad! We will never recommend this place or even come back at all!
Came here with a small group around midnight. Had to order drinks at the bar which is fine, however there were only 2 bartenders. One spent 10 minutes flirting with a customer while the other one was working. The bartender who was working was condescending, and cancelled a transaction to force a tip on a pitcher of beer despite no service and a long wait time. The beer didn’t taste like how it normally should, and was sour and flat. Rustic atmosphere wasn’t kept clean so it felt run down. Also suspicious activity was just happening out in the open with someone dropping off a backpack. Just really weird vibes paired with poor night service. The pub wasn’t even that busy (20% capacity). Won’t be coming here on my next visit to this city.
If you want to experience racism, please visit this pub. Such a rude waitress Sarah!! Been there on May 26th with friends, ordered fish & chips with drinks. Fish was over burnt and tasted little bitter. When we asked her to change them, she yelled at me saying that’s how they are made everywhere as if we’ve never ate one before. Felt embarrassed in front of my friends. We had to take out the whole batter off the fish and ate them. She saw us taking pictures of the food and changed her behaviour and started being nice so that they don’t get a worst rating. But once a bad experience will always be remembered. Not to forget, chef was very nice old guy came to us and asked what was the problem and made another set of them.
Horrible waitress staff. I don’t know her name, but she was a middle aged woman with orange hair. She was extremely slow to serve the only 5 tables there. We even had to ask her to bring us menus after 10 minutes of waiting. The food was as expected for a pub, drinks were good. At the end she got really upset and rude when I forgot to press the tip button on the machine. I was about to correct it and give her cash, however she got extremely rude and told us it was “mandatory to tip in all of Canada as it is the law” which is absolutely not true. She continued to raise her voice at us and tell us it is against the law in Canada even though I am Canadian myself. She was sooooooo extremely rude… horrible waitress.
Many restaurants closed in Old Town today. The ones that were open were very busy. Lines out the door. Except for Pub St. Paul. Walked right in and only 3 parties seated. Food was Meh. Below average pub food. Service was Ok. Customer was leaving and told the bartender," Don't work to hard." He replied, "I never do." What? It's obvious that the ownership is not on their game. Electronically measured drinks. Really? You need to trust your employees to run your establishment. Very obvious that the owners do not trust their staff. Update to previous reviewers. No Oscar sighting at the bar. Hopefully he's gone from the sounds of it.

I had a great experience at St. Paul Pub in Montreal. The location was fantastic, offering a picturesque view of the Ferris wheel. The music and ambiance were just right, creating a pleasant atmosphere. I couldn't resist trying the nachos with cheese, and they were superb. However, one aspect that left me a bit disappointed was when the server added the tip to the bill without my consent, which I didn't appreciate. Overall, it was a great visit, but the server's tip handling was a minor hiccup in an otherwise enjoyable experience.

We came here for lunch on a hot afternoon. Nice breeze coming through helped cool us down. There are quite a few dishes to choose from. We ordered several dishes (Fish & Chips; St. Paul Burger;Slash Poutine; Pub Chicken Club; Fettuccine Alfredo) and ate family style sharing. Fish was a little overcooked but not bad. All the other dishes were piping hot and delicious. Our server was prompt and attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere of this place is pretty amazing. Nice and relaxing. If you are over in this area, I recommend coming and checking this place out.

The worst place i have visited in my life not even the service as after paying the amount of food they are forcefully asking us for 15% tip even we have already paid tips they are asking more . One of the staff was smoking weed in the restaurant and asking for more tip . Not only this they even push us when we want to leave he dont allow us to do that . Being a customer is our responsibility to pay the tips by our own but its very shameful for them to push us away just for the tips .

Horrible food, sketchy employees (minus one helpful bartender) and SLOW! My bf and I waited 1hr 15 for two poutines… with 3 other tables seated. The gravy was oddly light in colour?? And tasted old or off i don’t know but it was not enjoyable. The cooks weren’t doing anything, everyone else had food. Not to mention a sketchy employee was getting drunk ordering shots for random customers. Then doing it with them then playing the slot machines over and over while continuing to drink. The only saving grace was my waitress did comp my drinks after realizing it had been over and hour. Just be a bar not a pub.
Honestly, the service we received at the bar left such a bad taste in my mouth that that the solid food couldn’t make up for it. Oscar is a terrible employee, and more so a terrible person. Maybe get take out if you have to get anything here. Definitely don’t sit at the bar. Overall, stay away unless you like being around a disgusting person. They need to fire that guy Jesus..

The staff is absolutely rude to customers if you leave them anything below a 20% tip. I only tipped 10% because the service was terrible and the waiter came back and questioned me why I only gave him 10%. I felt like he was very unprofessional and doing so when we literally only ordered two pictures of beer. Also, next time I'm just going to grab the beer myself instead of waiting 35 minutes for two pictures of beer. You guys need to work faster.

I decided last minute to run in here and try the Fish & Chips and was surprised at the really delicious flavor it had. I do see some reviews saying it was burnt, which I can understand but I personally like it extra crispy so everything was good to me. Service was very nice and I was able to watch the Friday night football game. Got to meet a cute dog in the bar too very nice

Lol all the comments about the bad service are dead on… we walked into a mostly empty bar, three different servers made eye contact with us but didn’t say anything… finally we asked one of them if we should seat ourselves, to which we got a “yeah, whatever.” We got the last table by the window - yay! - but it was sticky and smelled like dirty dishrag. After 10 minutes of sitting there with no drinks, no menus, no acknowledgement from anyone, we finally left. A strange business model!
Ordered a coke, it was flat, zero bubbles tasted awful. Told the waitress and she said "yeah, because it's from the tap, so it will be flat". Asked for a new one. Same thing. CHANGE YOUR CO2 it's not difficult. Ended up paying for a cocktail instead. Waitress gave me the wrong bill and refused to make things right. I ended up paying for someone else's (more expensive bill) and she basically told us we had to figure it out. Fish and chips were good, nothing spectacular. Won't be back.
I went here for late dinner after I arrived at night to the city (most places nearby were closing), I only got the after 10 pm menu, I had the poutine, and boy it was good, it has to be the best poutine gravy I've ever had, well seasoned, rich and flavourful, the fries were fried to perfection. This is more a place to hang out with friends and drink (especially at night), with loud music and noisy conversations. Pretty good atmosphere if you are into that kind of activity.
Highly recommend: Samantha being an effective server made our visit a joy to be there. Gotta view the huge mural with John Lennon being a spiritual leader. We had lasagna and fish chips. The Greek Salad was excellent as well as the fish. They had singer for music background. Their Windows were opened for fresh breeze. Samantha deserves a pay raise

Was just in Montreal for one night on my way back home from a quick girlfriends trip. Our waitress was over the top accommodating. The 80’s music put us all in the best mood & The window overlooking the busy shopping area was a perfect spot to unwind and people watch. This is the perfect place to grab drinks and some yummy pub grub. Satisfied my poutine craving perfectly. coming here was the best decision!

Went with a group of friends. Waitress took forever for our second order even when we tried to call her, so we decided to order beer ourselves from the bartender, Waitress was condescending and insulting because we didn't wait and she wouldn't have gotten the tip i guess, EVEN when we had to do her job for her. Rude staff. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere where service isn't this horrible

We took the fish & chips unlimited deal. They run out of fish after some time. There was no refill for sauce. The service was worst as the waitresses was not listening to our call. Service needs work. We had 4 different waiters, none of them aware of our order or what was going on. Loooooong wait, our sodas were flat and watery as a result, other orders never showed up. Location's great, so is sitting by the windows. No complaints about the food, it's what you expect. Good prices too. Would've been 4-5 stars if the floor manager had any idea what they were doing.
After a cold walk in Old Montreal ... As we know Montreal is famous for the Onion Soup .... There's so many posh restaurants here ..so after walking..reading menu's..We picked here ! This is more like a bar ... Sadly our menu choices were disappointing...for me only of course ! *Onion Soup...was lemon water .. *Ceaser Salad..more lemon and old lettuce... *Warm coffee ...
We didn’t eat here, so I can’t comment on the food. Our bartender was the highlight, very hospitable. We had drinks and played pool. The sticks and table were beat, but worked fine for our purposes. The beer selection wasn’t great, but the atmosphere was just what we were looking for to kill some time. Watched the Canadiens game on TV, but the feed wasn’t ideal (pretty glitchy).
Great location and views however this "restaurant" has no business serving food. I went with a couple friends and each of our meals plus the apps were terrible and lacked flavour. I definitely won't be getting food here again. Not worth the price either... However this business is better if you're looking to drink with your friends, shoot pool, darts, watch the game, etc.
Not pleased. Every time we were served. My wife felt uncomfortable. She was being stared at the whole time. Made the kids feel uncomfortable and confused. Please dont let oscar serve you if you go here. Terrible service. We as a family of two young children felt uncomfortable.

A happy go lucky bar with a cool, relaxed and mellow vibe. I actually liked the joint, but the server was incredibly rude, slow and unapproachable. He complained as he wasn't happy with his tip percentage and was demanding me to use my card machine again and pay an individual bill for an extra tip, extremely unprofessional and downright unacceptable.
This was a nice place for a pizza and beer! The atmosphere was really nice and fun!!! The pizza was great! There is a very nice view of the Farris wheel and river area! The paintings and statues really make the place!!! We went during the day so it wasn’t night clubby but I could totally see if it was night, it would be crazy cool!!!
Decent food, decent price for the area. Poor communication between servers and with our table - waited over 30 minutes to have our order taken, then it sat on the bar for 20 before it made it to us. When we did get it, it was very serviceable. Crisp fish on the fish&chip (even after sitting, impressive!), well seasoned.
Really cool place, nice music and decoration. We ate a poutine and it was really delicious. It also has tables with nice window view of the lake and the ferris wheel. Service was a little bit messy, but I believe we were just unlucky (the waitress seem to have recently started). I would totally come back.
Hanni is such an amazing bartender, or should I say MIXOLOGIST. I ask for an aperol spritz and he looked at me and said "I GOT YOU WITH NY PERSONAL TWIST". He then proceed to add grapefruit juice to it. What a delight. Also legbtq2s+++ friendly.

Great pub style mashed with rock band...excellent service at the bar and an appropriate environment to theme. It was not overdone nor was it touristy. The cold beer on tap was perfect for a quick stop on a stroll through Old Montreal. The bar did have a great view of Old town as well as waterfront.
Loved their food. The Cesar salad was absolutely amazing. The ingredients were fresh which made the food all the more better. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was really nice. My sincere thanks to the chef though for a great meal. It was amazing! Underrated dining place in my opinion.
Very bad service as a tourist. Worst restaurant. Never visit over there if u dnt like food and if you dnt like service so they will force you to give tips like 18% to 20% and we have to call 911 for that . Worst experience.

The climate and inside is good the alcohol is decent. However, for big groups they have only one bill, not separate, which made a really tiresome and worrisome Friday even more anxious filled. In my opinion it reflects badly on the service.
I don’t blame our server. This place was under staffed for a Thursday. Start off with dirty tables, be served with cap still on (not twist off), huge wait to get drink order in, then food order, then receiving food. Caesar salads was wet
Showed up, was told to sit anywhere .. went to sit was told to go back and stand til someone else seated us , no one seated us. Went to sit again in a different spot and no one came to give us menus or anything while other guests came in

Good atmosphere and a nice place to drop in to escape the cold as far as I’m concerned. Nachos were not the best though, only warm with still cold cheese. Was explained that there was another large order but still, it’s nachos.
Cheap drinks, quality music, great open windows with a view. A good stop on your bar crawl, or to load up on pub food before going out for the evening. We sat upstairs by the window and really enjoyed our time there.
Simple pub food, the wings are small with only hot or mild. The nachos are better but the cheese is not layered, just on top. Good selection of draft. The best part is if you can get a seat at this table in the pic.
Ordered a bottle of red wine but no bottles available. OK no problem! Can we try a sip of your house red wine to see if we like it? Nope can't do that.ok let's get out of here as soon as possible. Not impressed.

Fish and chips all you can eat apparently means just fish all you can eat. The fries cost 7$ additional after the first portion. You don't even get more sauce. Futhermore, the food isn't even good
Great vibe, good drinks, good view. The service wasn’t good, we had to go get the menu ourselves and then get up and go there again to order. Open till 3 am! Overall, good enough, will go back.
I cannot get over the size of the food portions! I swear the plates were as big as my head! Delicious and incredibly filling, you have basically two meals in one if you take the leftovers home!
