Situated across the road from Bristol University's imposing Wills Memorial Tower, this particular branch of Oxfam is generally well-stocked with academic books, which can be found on the first floor in amongst overflowing shelves of classics, sci-fi, and a large range of fiction genres and non-fiction disciplines. The predominant feature of the ground floor is the selection of general fiction. It is clear that the staff and volunteers pay a great deal of attention in designing window displays, keeping the shop in a very neat condition, and providing customers with valuable assistance. The range of stock on offer, combined with the very reasonable prices, means that it is usually quite difficult to leave the shop empty-handed. You may well pay a little extra in here than in other similar shops, but the extra cost is justified in consideration of the care and attention of the staff in selecting and providing what is usually top-quality stock, in addition to the welcoming and considerate help that is always available.

Due to the proximity with the university - maybe - sometimes it's possible to find real gems of books at basement bargain prices. Last I found, books by Peter Druker and Michael Porter.

Always worth going in to see what they have. Good prices, wide range of books and a decent science fiction section upstairs. …

  • Dan Pope

One of the best stocked charity book shops I've ever found, possibly thanks to its proximity to the university.

Prices were reasonable a while back but due to lack of donations of late the prices have sky rocketed.

Interesting that this shop focuses on book sales and quite a few customers were browsing their stock

Big variety of books but poor customer service. Oxfam Books could use an "update"!
