Exploring the @MuseumofBrisbane was a truly enriching experience. Set within the historic Brisbane City Hall, this museum gracefully narrates the city's diverse history, culture, and art. The museum’s venue, Brisbane City Hall, itself is an architectural marvel. It harmoniously marries historical significance with modern amenities, offering a setting that transports visitors through time. A standout feature is the museum's approach to inclusivity. They've gone above and beyond to ensure that individuals with disabilities feel welcomed. The availability of audio descriptions for exhibits, tactile orientation points on the floors for those with low vision, and specialized interactive features ensures a comprehensive experience for all visitors. The exhibitions are not just displays but experiences. I was especially captivated by the site-specific exhibit on Brisbane. It offered a tangible and interactive exploration of the city's nuances. Their dedicated staff deserves praise. From the cheerful greeters at the welcome desk to the informed guides, every interaction added value to my visit. The museum has been proactive in its academic collaborations. Their engagement with students through a variety of programs provides an immersive learning experience, allowing the younger generation to connect deeply with the city's history and culture. For those who wish to marvel at the building without diving deep into the museum exhibits, there's an option to explore the City Hall for free. However, remember to book in advance to secure your spot. Despite the plethora of experiences on offer, there's no entrance fee, making this museum accessible to everyone. Before heading out, don’t miss the museum's souvenir shop. It's a treasure trove of local artistry, perfect for those looking to take a slice of Brisbane with them.

As a resident, was quiet disappointed visiting this "museum". It was more of an Art and Pottery exhibition. I was expecting to see Brisbane with real history of our current living generation, including photos of the building of Captain Cook Bridge & Story Bridge, photos, information of Newstead oil refinery, wool stores, Patty's Markets, rail and Navy docks. The Valley 5 Ways with the Coke signage (still in place in Kings Cross in Sydney). Brisbane's old tram network, First shopping Mall in Brisbane and David Jones at Coorparoo. The old Myer in Queen St with Elevator Porters and dine in restaurant. Old Queensland Rail steam& deisel trains & carriages, tracks, stations, tickets and date imprint machine, and the guard passing the hoop for signalling clearance. Queen St when it was a traffic street. The old RBWH precinct, The Courier Mail production building in the valley. Even South Brisbane prior to Expo'88 and its post redevelopment. Even photos or footage of the old Eagle Farm Airport. How many people would know how to travel from Cleveland to the Airport or to Redcliffe in the 70's? Things of interest to show residents and visitors the like, what Brisbane WAS when it was younger. Make it more interactive and engaging to encourage school visits and more tourists to know about Brisbane THOSE THINGS ARE ITEMS FOR A MUSEUM OF BRISBANE...not today's art. To me, just seemed to be an exhibition of Arts and retail. Visit once but wouldn't recommend it.

Brisbane museum is an excellent fun place for a family day out. It has various parking places near it which allows you to park next to museum at a walking distance. Brisbane Museum is full of animals, birds, butterflies and other reptiles sculptures and skeletons of Dinosaurs. Kids will never get bored however this Museum is so big that it makes kids tired though. This Museum has very well maintained gardens in which you can sit, eat food and have a small picnic while kids enjoy the Museum, Dinosaurs and other animals. This Museum also has a earth evolution room which has excellent visuals to allow kids the understanding of evolution of earth over the years. Staff is very helpful and also you don't waste a lot of time in the queue as there are lots of booths which keep the traffic moving. Enjoy while you are here. (Please like my review if it was helpful and if you would like me to edit my review then please suggest edit).
Really cool wee museum right in the heart of Brissie. To be honest it hadn't really been on my radar, but just popped in on a rainy day. It was fantastic! The storytellers section was unique and really informative about Brisbane of yesteryear. Loads of interactive gems and displays. There was a rad exhibition of young humans pictures of what COVID had meant to them, really insightful and a wonderful insight into how these times affected the youth. The final section was the Bauhaus section which was also really cool, with some interesting light shows and artwork. It really was a feast for the senses and I walked away feeling like I learnt something. All round, well worth the visit and we didn't even pop up to the clock tower. Enjoy an immersive experience next time youre in the city, it's well worth your time!
A delightful place to pass an afternoon. And very educational too. Not being a museum fan I was reluctantly dragged along by my other half and my nephew, who wanted to see the Gladiators display. Gee was I glad I went along! The display was amazingly excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed it - and I learned a lot. My two lads even had the opportunity to put on some gladiator masks and play at having a battle! I was so take aback and intrigued that I walked around the other floors in the museum and ran out of time after spending 3 hours inside. I most certainly will be back and will allow more time for me next visit. The great thing, too, is the location ... so close to all the pubs and restaurants in South Bank!
Located in level 3 of Brisbane city hall building, museum of Brisbane is a great place to explore in the cbd especially in a rainy cold day. Super neat and clean with magnificent interior design and architecture. Free to entry to museum with lots of gallery and projects. Free lockers to use too. Lovely and helpful staffs, great services. They provide free tour guide for the city mall (45 mins) and free clock tower tour (15 mins) too. You should book ahead for those tours through museum of brisbane website to avoid waiting time. Can easily spend couple of hours exploring this great place. Highly recommended!

Nice place to visit. They are in their early stage to develop and express “Brissie-ism” so currently displaying some history and artworks of historical significances. Speaking with the staff who are super helpful and friendly, I believe there are many new things to come live at this museum. At the moment, it doesn’t take much time to see all the artworks so I recommend to visit if you will combine this with the Clock Tower Tour and/or the Hall Tour. It’s good to see some history and work in progress. I really look forward to seeing more at this Museum as well as things around the city.

Such an awesome museum! It really is such an asset to the city. At present it has an exhibit in relation to the Queenslander and what's hidden underneath one, as well as the poinciana growing beside it, all as a metaphor for the growth of the city. This exhibit really is excellent and thoroughly recommended. It also has an exhibit in relation to Brisbane being a city in the subtropics, and all that entails. Plus The video tracing the Brisbane River from it's source to Moreton Bay is always much loved. I also liked the map of Brisbane which includes the Yagera names for locations. Plus Brisbane City Hall is such an amazing location to visit to see the museum.
We did the MOB and was great to look over the history and the past of this beautiful city. We were also lucky enough to do the clock tower tour! That was a brilliant experience... from hoping in an elevator from the 1940s to being almost at the top of the clock looking over the city square and further abroad. Parking was $16 from the day.(weekend rates) and wasn't so far to walk to the entrance of the MOB. So beautiful inside, have to see for yourself. We were also lucky enough to see a beehive that apparently only comes once a year to this particular outside wall and the kids loved watching them fly all over the place.(windows were all locked shut.)
Located inside the Brisbane City Hall. Didn't come here by intention. Just wandering around and found out there is a museum inside the city hall and decided to check it out. The entrance is free, no ticket is required to visit. But you need to lock your bag in the locker. Surprisingly the museum seems fun. A lot of things to discover. If you spend more time on it there is a lot of fun stuff. Too bad I was in a hurry so just a quick tour. The staff are all very friendly and nice. Don't feel shy to ask for help. Overall it is a great place to discover.

Great place to visit, located on 3 level 1. Museum of Brisbane (MoB) explores Brisbane's contemporary and historic aspects through art, workshops, and exhibitions. 2. MoB has won top honors at prestigious national awards multiple times. 3. Opened in 2003, it's housed in Brisbane City Hall and moved to a purpose-built space in 2013. 4. The collections feature 9,000+ items, including local art and historical objects. 5. MoB is open daily, free entry, except for special exhibitions and closed on some holidays.

Nothing much to see. Has a little bit of history about the building, Brisbane's founding, and pre arrival information, but it's mainly focused on showcasing local artists & thier social programs. The click tower tour is enjoyable & worth the time. Book ahead, they have lots of no shows for tours, but if you haven't booked, you can't jump in a vacated spot. Architecture is fascinating and worth exploring.

Lovely information about Brisbane, it's formation and also their main attractions so if you're a lost tourist that doesn't know what to explore, this isn't a bad way to start! The rooms are small, only one floor, and can probably be done in under an hour. It's free and the staff are nice, there's also clock tower tours that you can book for free that leave every 15 minutes. I'd recommend booking in the morning to get the best slots available.
Great museum inside city hall. Book a tour up the clock tower for the full experience (free but limited to currently 4 people) including the old lift. No need to buy tickets for the museum itself but do book ahead for the clock tower if you want to go up. Please note clock tower tours are not wheelchair accessible as there are narrow stairs at the top

Did the free tour and looked around the museum. Interesting, informative and well presented. Lovely staff, great views. If you're in Brisbane, it's definitely worth a visit, especially combined with the free tour! The customer service team for the museum are also second to none. Michelle and Catherine, thank you for helping with my obscure query!

I enjoyed my visit here, but I have difficulty with the description of 'Museum'. I expected a museum to concentrate on the history of Brisbane, but that is only a tiny part of what is on display. The vast majority is recent art. As I said above, it was pleasant to visit, but I was disappointed that it did remotely meet my expectations of a 'museum'. I feel it would be better described as the 'Art Gallery of Brisbane'.
Fabulous new exhibit which had interactive participation in some of the installments. Nice little gift shop with many Brisbane designers merchandises. It is a small cosy museum but filled with great artworks and has a special section dedicated to the cities history. Exhibit change regularly so can also pop back to see new stuff. Do not forget to donate as it always helps from giving back as all is free to enter.
Museum was okay, although not a huge amount to see in between exhibits. Going up to the clock tower was quite cool in the old lift, and you need to reserve a tour time slot in advance on floor 3 whilst you’re there. Tour guide for the brief clock tower tour was brilliant, and very engaging with kids!

Another museum worth visiting. If my understanding is correct the building was prior to being a museum a childcare center. The exhibition rooms are therefore big and spacious. My toddler loved it and I enjoyed it too. Learned a few new things and had spent a good two hours. The building has a nice architecture which you will enjoy too. Give it a go. You'll thank me later.
This place I truly love. It is a reliable source of interest, learning, and cultural uptempo inspiration. There's clearly a great team who work on making the installations facinating. It's a trustworthy tourist destination. The added bonuses can be a cup of tea at Shingle Inn, a peek at the main hall with colourful dome at City Hall, and a guided tour of the clock tower.
The Brisbane Museum is a great place to visit and check on new exhibitions, some of them are really interesting and different from an average exhibition you could find on another museum. The thing i liked the most is that you and your kids can interact with them! AND ITS FREE!!

This little museum in Brisbane Town Hall always has interesting eclectic exhibitions on Brisbane history and geography with due respect for native Australians who occupied the region before Europeans. Don't miss a visit to the bell tower for a great view of the city.

Relatively small but very well curated. The storytellers exhibit is amazing! Gives you such a wonderful insight into Brisbane life. Just doing that can easily eat up your day. Would recommend to do the free tours as well. We did the clock tower tour, museum highlights tour and city hall tour in just over half a day.
This place was a treat, 1st time going in and was not disappointed, got to see alot of weird and unusual but fascinating arts and great history of this place. Heads up tho, you gotta book to go to the top where the clock is. This place is a spot but to be missed.

Beautiful building with amazing things on display. The Museum of Brisbane heralds a rich history and a magnificent place which is world renowned for its uniqueness. Staff are very friendly, Covid safe measures in place here. They do tours of the big clock tower and the tour operators are very informative. Thank you
We did the clock tower tour for this afternoon, such a fabulous experience. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, tour informative and with COVID restrictions there was only two on our tour. Note you will need to store even small bags in the locker, which is free. A strong recommendation from me!!!
This place was great, if you liked the original ps3 Ghostbusters game you will love this place it reminded me about the demo game. Very nostalgic. I love the experience looking at all of the clay ceramics was very cool 5 stars

The staff at the museum were wonderful and really knew their Brisbane history! I checked out the three tours available - make sure you book in really for the Clock Tower tour unless you don't mind waiting for a few hours! - and I can say that I now know more about Brisbane than I ever thought possible!
Clock Tower Tour and Museum Highlights Tour are very cool and interesting! The guides are friendly and knowledgeable and willing to answer questions by participants. There’s also a cloakroom on the 3rd floor reception where visitors can deposit our bags so we could attend the tour baggage-free.
Really enjoyed the exhibitions I have seen here. The Museum seems to have a lovely collection and puts on a good range of shows related to the area. Generally not too busy during the week (unsure of weekends) with polite invigilating and ticket sales staff. Some lovely items in the gift store.
Museum providing lovely stories on Brisbane and suburbs within. Liked the stories provided from a personal perspective, particularly on Fortitude Valley. Free Lockers available to store items whilst browsing which was super handy. Recommend booking in advance for Clock Tower tour!
Great free museum in the heart of Brisbane. We got (free) tickets to go up the clock tower, well worth the wait. Museum is very informative and quite extensive. The high rotation exhibition (paid, $12) is nothing special, but $12 is a small price to pay to support a great museum.
Lovely stroll around. Entry is free. Not much inside to see tho. Most of the rooms are locked. The grand entrace is perfect for photoshoot as it has a huge grand marble staircase and high ceiling.

The clock tower tour + informative Brisbane museum were interesting, although I was suffering from a food coma at the time so missed a lot of the written info. It's easy to get to and free to all, with the option of making a donation if you are inclined.
It was a pleasant experience, nice and quiet, even some of the spots are closed due to an events, but its fine, the security guard was so welcoming and friendly, it was a pleasure to see him and apreciated with his help. Specially for my mom . …

Not really what I expected at all. Probably the weirdest museum that I've ever been to. Most of our was closed off and some music show would cost $12. The narrated Brisbane picture show about people, on rotation, was excellent.
