Mount Coot-tha Lookout is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Brisbane, Australia. Situated just 7 km from the city center, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of Brisbane and its surrounding areas. The lookout is easily accessible, with plenty of parking available at the top of the mountain. There are also public transport options available, including a bus service that stops at the lookout. The view from the lookout is truly spectacular, offering a bird's eye view of Brisbane's skyline, the Brisbane River, and the surrounding mountains. The view is especially beautiful at night, when the city lights up and provides a stunning backdrop for a romantic evening. Apart from the view, there are plenty of other things to do at the lookout. The area is surrounded by beautiful gardens, picnic areas, and walking tracks, making it a great destination for nature lovers. There is also a restaurant and a cafe at the lookout, where visitors can enjoy a meal or a coffee while taking in the stunning views. One of the highlights of visiting Mount Coot-tha Lookout is the opportunity to see the iconic Brisbane Botanic Gardens. The gardens are located adjacent to the lookout and offer a beautiful and relaxing place to spend some time exploring the natural beauty of Brisbane. Overall, Mount Coot-tha Lookout is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Brisbane. The stunning views, beautiful gardens, and wide range of activities make it a perfect destination for families, couples, or anyone looking for a great day out.

Starting with the restaurant, I was blown away by the quality and variety of the food offered. The menu featured a wide range of delicious options that catered to different tastes and dietary preferences. The flavors were mouthwatering, and the presentation was impeccable. The staff was attentive and provided great service. After our meal we then enjoyed the lookout even more and had an ice cream on the grass area, adding to the overall charm of the experience. While my visit was indeed unforgettable, I must acknowledge a minor disappointment with the restroom facilities. The bathroom was in bad condition, which was unexpected considering the otherwise high standards maintained throughout the venue. The cleanliness and upkeep of public restrooms are crucial, especially at popular tourist locations like Mount Coot-tha Lookout. Additionally, the baby change table was not reliable, and this could be a concern for families with young children. Despite this minor setback, my overall experience at Mount Coot-tha Lookout was exceptional. Note to management: It would be fantastic if you could address the issues with the public restroom and ensure the safety and cleanliness of the baby change table. This would further enhance the overall experience and make Mount Coot-tha Lookout an irresistible attraction for locals and tourists alike.

Great place to visit for a brilliant view over Brisbane city and beyond! Have visited many years ago when growing up in Brisbane but haven't been back until over Christmas. Very busy but worth it for the views. Also stopped for a bite to eat at the cafè...food was decent but it's rather expensive for the snacks we ordered. They had also run out of cold drinks in all three fridges, rather bizarre for a busy cafè so that was disappointing. Can also drive a loop past the television stations that transmit from Mt Coot-Tha back to the bottom of the range area. Gets a bit hazy in the summertime from the heat, winter probably brings the best views. Something that must be rectified is the state of the public toilets. They were revolting to say the least. Unfortunately it appears some people dont know how to use a toilet. If they want tourists to go there, they must keep facilities clean and tidy. A good afternoon and great views!

I really liked it, a very beautiful and romantic place ... From what I didn’t like: poor lighting (and in some places a complete absence), this is especially important for stairs.. Because of which our friend was injured ... Also terrible toilets, absolutely not cleaned ... Please pay attention to this the owners and local authorities and correct the situation. Such a beautiful place, despite the fact that it is winter and cold in the evenings, there were a lot of people, very popular ... well, you can’t it like that! I hope that next time everything will be at the level and we can recommend this place to friends. In addition, I want to celebrate my birthday in September with you! But if the situation does not improve, then I will be ashamed to invite guests here ... Sorry to be negative, but it's true...

The sweeping vista of Brisbane's cityscape offered up by the Mt Coot-tha Summit never fails to impress - whatever the weather! For a truly memorable adventure, and a guaranteed heartstarter, ascend the mountain via the Summit Track, take in the breathtaking views, then enjoy breakfast at the Summit Cafe before descending via the Spotted Gum trail. The round trip is around 5km. If you have energy to spare at the bottom, enjoy another hour (or two) touring the Botanic Gardens. Don't miss the tranquil Japanese Garden and be sure to check out what's on at the Richard Randall Art Studio. Grab a coffee (and maybe lunch) at the Botanic Gardens Cafe to finish an awesome day out. It's one that's sure to get your step count up and your feet back in nature.

A must see whether you are a local or a tourist. Great views of the city and surrounding areas. As well as mountains in the far distance like Mt Warning and Mt Barney. The viewing points are at different heights with approx 180 degree views. There is a cafe on site which is open late. And a restaurant next door for night bookings and functions. The viewing platform is free and you can enjoy it both during the day and at night. There is one way in and one way out for parking. So you will actually drive past it on the main road and come around in a circle from behind. There is parking at the top but it is limited so you may need to go around the block again and park on the parks lower down. The walk is not too far still.

Mount Coot-tha is a popular tourist destination, offering a variety of activities for all ages and interests. The summit lookout offers stunning panoramic views of Brisbane and the surrounding area. There are also a number of walking trails, picnic areas, and playgrounds to explore. Mount Coot-tha is a Brisbane icon, forming a backdrop for the city and is Brisbane City Council's largest natural area. It contains more than 1600 hectares of open eucalypt forest, rainforest gullies and creek lines. Mount Coot-tha Reserve adjoins the south-eastern section of D'Aguilar National Park. -Bard!

A great spot with a magnificent view looking to Moreton Bay, Brisbane and down to the southern rangers. Travelling by car, the windy road takes us through residential areas; forest and then the Sunmit. With parking and a short stroll to the lookout, visitors can enjoy impressive views. The licensed cafe offers an extensive menu to suit all tastes and patrons can enjoy a relaxed lunch or dinner indoors or under umbrella's whilst soaking up the vista! Toilets are located next to the Cafe. The Scenic drive is also worth taking passing TV stations and back into residential areas.

Mount Coot-Tha Summit Lookout provides an outstanding view of Brisbane. Despite its popularity, especially during sunset, there's room for crowd management improvements. More parking or shuttle services from central locations might be beneficial. The on-site amenities, such as the gift shop and restaurant, while modest, offer essential services. The restaurant could better utilize its scenic backdrop, and a more straightforward ice-cream ordering process would be appreciated. This iconic site holds great potential and with some enhancements, it could become an even more remarkable destination for visitors to Brisbane.

  • Aline Silva

Heey folks.. recently I've been in Mt Coot-tha Lookout and if you love sightseeing, I strongly recommend to go there to enjoy an amazing view. In Brisbane, I guess this is a place where it's possible to enjoy a view of the city far away. In the mountain you'll find a souvenir store, a restaurant and the bus stop is in front of the entrance. Otherwise, you can get there on foot, for me it's the best way to know the places: walking and trekking. It's near to the Botanic Garden and Planetarium as well, then if you have enough time, go and visit, it's perfect for a picnic with friends. Putting in your bucket list :)

  • William Duval

Drove up no worries and luckily jagged a parking spot close by. Had an ice cream and enjoyed sitting back looking toward the city. Now the downside. Some of the trees have grown so tall that they obstruct the view, especially looking South and they need to be trimmed but I doubt this will happen as the Greenies will find a reason to object. Would only affect a small amount of vegetation and improve the experience for everyone. But if you're happy looking at the city and lights at night go for it.

A spectacular view! I would imagine that many proposals would of taken place at this fantastic scenic spot. It is a MUST SEE attraction if you live in, or are visiting Brisbane. I have been up here numerous times and they have a cafe where you can order a coffee and cake and absorb nature at its finest or even bring a picnic blanket and a loved one and enjoy the sunset. Great for motorbike riders such as myself as the ride up and down is fantastic and rather scenic but challenging at the same time. They also have hiking trails for fitness enthusiasts. Highly recommended!

As the sun began to set, we took a bus from UQ to Toowong ($3.25) where our friend picked us up to head to Mount Coot-tha. The lookout at Mount Coot-tha is where locals and tourists alike, head to get views over Brisbane City. Views were certainly amazing. We also saw some orangy clouds on the opposite side of the pavilion as the sun set. If you managed to catch sunsets from Mount Coot-tha, share with us in the comments section below! Awesome spot to see Brisbane and surrounds from above, from the sunshine coast to the scenic rim. There are lots of hiking options from casual to advanced. There are plenty of places for a picnic or for the dog. A nice little souvenir/coffee shop with some nice snacks/cakes. You can grab a beer and enjoy the view. I haven't eaten in the restaurant, but by all accounts, a sunset dinner is worth looking into. Sometimes hard to get a park, tip: There's about 30 more car spaces behind the restaurant on the way back down. Nice gift shop, café & restaurant.

  • Amila Premakumara

Best place to get the perfect view of the city. The premises do include some long range binoculars which operated by 2 dollar coins. However if you wanna take some nice clicks of the view, you might need a long range camera as a normal mobile cam gets obstructed by the tree range just beneath the look out. However the a sunny day and looking out is one of the great things do in Brisbane, if you are visiting. Don’t forget to try the restaurant as well, its quite good.

We managed to get there on a good day and it was quite busy. There was a wide range of people up there and it was fantastic. Look over Brisbane Skyline with the clouds and the sun poking through. There's also other calf which sells a good amount of food and drink and of course the restaurant which we didn't manage to get there as it was closed. The car parking was pretty good as well and there wasn't too many on the day we went Saturday. Please visit

Good place to enjoy night view of Brisbane. There is a botanic garden down there. So you can probably spend your day time in the botanic garden and then drive to the summit look out when you finished your garden tour. It is not that far from the botanic garden. The parking here is somehow difficult to find. Maybe you need to turn few rounds to get your parking. There is a cafe up there which offer you food and drinks. The scene up there is superb. And a great place for dating too. If you don't mind too many people beside you

  • Jay Roams Thailand

This is a great lookout with an outstanding view of the sea and city. You can park in the car park and walk or hike some of the trails on the mountain. We went down a gravel trail and back up a paved one next to a nice stream. Plenty of birds including magpies and bush turkeys, too. The loop we did was about 5 to 6 km. Other walkers and hikers are friendly, and there are plenty of water fountains for people with dog bowls, too. There is a nice cafe at the top but I did not see any public toilets. Highly recommend this area.

  • Craig Mather

Whether you are driving up or hiking up, it's always incredibly satisfying to get to the top and see all that is Brisbane City. Absolutely stunning panoramic views of the city and its surrounds. The cafe is wonderful to grab a quick coffee or a bite to eat with some stunning views and staff are always friendly. We always bring visitors to Brisbane up to the summit to show them where we live. If you are visiting Brisbane, this is a must. If you live in Brisbane and haven't been here, what are you doing?

  • Julissa Weiss

Amazing city views. I Keep on going back just to appreciate the views from up there. It can get very busy on weekends . Love it early in the morning just before getting into work it's so peaceful. Nice place to take overseas visitors for a nice pic. Chicken wings were delicious h8ghly recommend them but they have a spicy sauce so if you are susceptible to chilli keep away from them.

Amazing lookout especially for magnificent and stunning sunrise and sunset with bird-eye view of Brisbane. Many free car park just in front of the lookout and surrounding areas. No problem for car parking. Having wheelchair access, benches to sit and rest, also big cafeteria if you want a coffee or breakfast with the view. You can take a bus up here, or just 15 mins drive from the city. Highly recommended, definitely a must while you are in Brisbane!

One of my favourite place in Brisbane ❤️ Theres 3 ways getting up there, by car, bus, or if you like to hike, 60 trails awaits you from easy to most challenging hike up to the Summit. So far I’ve done about 6 of the trails & love them all. The best part is the reward up on the summit, a cafe where you can enjoy a cuppa & delicious food with a breathtaking view There’s ample parking available , toilets & souvenir shop too.

  • Dianne

Nice spot with a great view of Brisbane city. Limited parking at the top when it's busy and not a lot of space to turn around up there. If you can find a park at the top during peak times you're very lucky. Gets busy in the evenings and weekends. There's a little gift shop up there, ice cream shop / Cafe and toilets. There's also picnic spots and bush walking tracks on the drive up. The ride up is fun on a motorbike too!

  • Thushini Goonewardene

We visited the summit around 10am. Quite a beautiful bird's eye view of Brisbane city and the surrounding area. Trying to catch the sunrise or the sunset from this location would definitely be an experience! There also is a souvenir shop on site, a cafe and ample parking. There are many walking/ cycling tracks you could take as well.

Fabulous views from the summit, which is only a short walk from the car park. There's plenty of space at the top although it can become busy at sunset or peak times. A cafe / restaurant and toilet facilities are available at the top, and parking can be quite limited. Several walks down from the summit with a map of these routes at the main entrance. Stunning city views and a pleasant area to visit.

  • Sai Charan

We can see the whole Brisbane from this look out point. I recommend binoculars or use a Samsung ultra zoom camera to check the great view of huge buildings. It was a little crowded even on a weekday. Hardly found any parking near the look out. The restaurant over there was nice and cosy for friends and family.

Best place to see the entire Brisbane City along with the opening to the sea and other mountain ranges. Its an awesome place to come to, sit & relax, and enjoy the scenery. Sunrise is the moment, you would definitely don't want to miss. This place is very popular among photographers as u can see different shades of the city from day to night. Definitely recommend this place to visit.

Spectacular view both at night and during the day. My photos are shocking and of course do not do it justice. The food and drink options are a nice addition thay not many look out points can offer. Awesome spot, with absolutely stunning views! My partner and I did the hike up there, and it was so worth it! It was a little unexpected in regards to the view, because normally when I do a hike, I expect the view of the top of a mountain, but here we got a view of the city! Still super cool spot to look at, definitely could've driven up, bit I think the hike made it all worth it!

Beautiful place looking over the city.Nice spot for picture taking and it has restaurant and coffee shop and souvenir shop too.We got lucky that the weather was nice when we went there. There is also a trail inside mount Coot-Tha Forest which we walk down to Jc slaughter falls....path was wide and clean...you can hear different birds chirping .it was an enjoyable experience ❤️

So you've just arrived in Brisbane. Take a few minutes and head up the cootha, take in the sights and get ya self dialled in. While yer up there, grab some Tucker and have a pretty decent coffee. Now go get stuck in. Don't forget there is more than just the summit. Go explore the walking tracks and find some hidden gems..

  • Ellé

Super busy, hardly any places to park. If you like cities then it would be a great lookout but to me it is just a concrete jungle. Probably a nice easy place to go at night to get a picture with the lights. I was actually more impressed with the wide range of birds that were hanging around.

Awesome trails, having free internal transport or buggy for some people lost would be awesome. Maybe a free local bus or buggy can be started all day for public transport travellers. If you have your own car for this spot then absolutely no issues, lots of parking options and trail options are there. Quite safe.

Awesome view from the top and Brisbane town is looking good! Cafe got variety of cakes and some hot puff. Great coffee as well. Recommend to come early then sit back relax with a cuppa of coffee and a slice of cake. Great day

A very nice lookout. The views are amazing. Lots of parking at the top and on the way up. Even on a cloudy day the views are spectacular.

This was such a fatal place to see all of Brisbane. It was beautiful. The Cafe there was great too. We didn't eat there but did have a drink. The view is spectacular. Definitely worth a visit if your heading this way

View from the lookout is lovely but can be quite busy and touristy on the weekend. We walked up the summit track which was steep but enjoyable. Plenty of parking spaces and BBQs by the start of the summit trail.

Nice night view. Great for stargazing. Sad that most of the restaurants were gone. Loved having ice cream during cold weather.

If you're looking for the best spot to watch the sunrise in Brisbane, I recommend visiting Mount Coot-tha. Panoramic views of the city and surrounding areas, making it the perfect spot to catch the sunrise.

Very nice walk, with a great view at the top. We walked from the bottom of JC falls car park and it took about half an hour to the top. The walk is well paved with only a few steeper parts. Would recommend.

Recommend hiking from the botanic gardens. Great view, and there is a restaurant and gift shop and restrooms at the top.

Was a great new perspective on the city layout. Even if the heavens did open up and we got drenched, was still worth it.

It is a must-go iconic place for lookout enthusiasts. What a refreshing view with all great vegetations around the area. We'll come back here again definitely for a deeper look around.... More

Cheeky weekday visit, still quite a few tourists and school trips. Good cafe with seating, great views. Could do with a couple of those binoculars turrets you get on the top of tall buildings

Loved the view from Mt Coot-tha and the food from the cafe was delicious. Plenty of parking and seating.

Best views of Brisbane! You can get here by car with plenty of parking or via walking trails. Most trails are between 30-60 minutes walk, though 5-10 minutes is fairly steep. More

Beautiful place for a nature walk with three levels from beginner to expert. Grab a coffee or breakfast when you get to the top and enjoy views of Brisbane and Moreton Bay.

  • Robin Tan

We managed to get a car park at the summit. The trip was well worth it. There are other attractions (bbq area and waterfall) around the area.

Nice lookout and view point. Local cafe and ice cream is great too. Parking spaces are limited on crowded weekends or public holidays from tourists and visitors.

  • Anthony Celzo

Best to go here late arvo as it is not that crowded. Picturesque views and skyline nearing sunset is very nice. Parkiing can be a challenge but you’ll get by.

  • Fiona Blaney

A great viewing point at night to see the Brisbane City all lit up.

Hadn't been here for over 30yrs and I enjoyed the experience. Lots of visitors (not overwhelmingly so) and the walk down to the botanical gardens was great.

Beautiful lookout and a must visit if in Brisbane. You can reach the top hiking or driving. At the top, there is a cafe that serve beverages and food.
