The store reps are not very helpful. Difficult to find items in this store, hard to find a store rep and even when you do, they tell you it's out of stock without checking. Not sure why they do this. In my opinion, this is a very poor customer experience and unprofessional. It happened in multiple occasions. I asked a store rep to check if an item is in stock right there he said if it's not in the shelves it's out of stock without checking, I found another store rep asked same he replied in same manner but this time I insisted it doesn't harm to atleast check the back, after a while, he came back n handed me the item and was able to stock up the shelves. Sometimes you ask a question they just reply I don't work in that department without making any attempt to help or get someone who works in that department I don't get it, what's the point of having customer service if they cannot provide top notch customer experience, why are they there if not to render help to customers, do they really understand that the customers are the reasons the store is existing? My recommendation to the manager at this location fennell and upper gage: try and have a general meeting with your employees and educate/remind them that being helpful, friendly, professional and more are the good qualities of customer service, treat all customer equally, if customers are happy they not only will shop at this location but will recommend friends and families to shop as well, in return, a higher sales return/turnover. In the long run business will flourish, shareholders will be happy as well as employees Times are hard, there's recession, loosing 1 customer is a big deal, that 1 customer can result to 1000 more customers as they spread the bad news along. Metro is a great brand but some of the employees can ruin this if things are not put in place and if they don't carry out their duties with the intention of providing a satisfying, excellent and top notch customer experience, treat every shopper equally and with respect and stop acting too personally when carrying out your duties. The business is not yours, the shareholders are the ones suffering the poor and unprofessional outcomes of the employees I hope this review gets to the top management. I'm just 1 customer expressing my opinion on the way I was treated but there are millions who may not have the time or not interested to do this. A bad review is there to help management take the proper action to set things right

All the people complaining about the customer service have lost their minds. This horrible place treats their workers like trash. Worse than any workplace I have worked in that even years later after working here I’m still upset. When I worked here I only got 11.00 and hour and u best believe they are still doing the minimum wage. They give one unpaid 15 minute break. I worked in the salad station section. I was in charge of being in a freezing cold fridge. In which they didn’t even provide a jacket and your shift would barely even cover how long it would take to cut up everything. If u even decided to take a 3 min bathroom break you would not be able to finish and if u didn’t they would fire u. The worst part is they kept cameras in the back to watch the workers just to make sure they didn’t eat any of the food but if any food from the bakery or salad bar or hot foods was not sold we would have to trash it. All that good going to waste, but they ran a dictatorship to make sure none of their workers would even sneak a bite of anything in their mouths. This is to make sure you buy their food. Yes they wanted to pinch every last dime their workers made. No In store discount, No paid breaks. No breaks at all. I mean not even a second to take a breather. Working in a freezer all day. Watching you like a hawk to make sure u didn’t sneak any food just so when it came to lunch I had to pay full for food so they can get some of the minimum wage salary back from you. So many people would leave their job after just a a few weeks because they treat their workers so badly. I haven’t worked here in 9 years and it is the worst job I’ve ever had. EVER. Slave wages, high expectations, little to no breaks, unpaid breaks, no employee discount, made their workers stave even tho they would throw out and waste hundreds of pounds of food a day. If you worked at the sald bar and let’s say had to pee and came back and didn’t finish cutting and packing everything they would make u do it overtime with no pay. The people that run this place are evil. And they want to get mad because u just left and never said a word talking about u need to give a 2 weeks notice looooool okkkkk. After 3 weeks of no shows they finally stopped calling me. That’s how much they need their slaves. Because no one can work here long

Very disappointed with the service at METRO the deli and cheese counter as well as. The fresh salad counter. Noticed A older gentleman in his 70s + Asking for coleslaw Had a very low voice, the lady at the counter could not hear him the first time he asked so I said to the Gentlemen, she didn't hear You. So he repeated himself saying I would like some coleslaw the green stuff. instead of saying pardon me, After the second time, you couldn't hear him. And after you noticed he spoke softly you didnt even offer to come around the counter to ask what he said or wanted She gave him the dirtiest look on Earth And said, what do you want I piped up with a loud voice. Stating the gentleman asked twice for coleslaw

I have been shopping at Metro for years. The last few times I've gone they have had promotion sales on certain items But unfortunately the Metro on Fennel ave refuses to acknowledge or honor the Flyer sale price. When I went to check out I showed the Flyer price that was online And they told me that it was not valid as anybody can put a fler online...Really...?? I explain my mom just purchased the same items at the metro in Stone Creek for the flyer price so it wasn't a bogus flyer. They really didn't care, so I left my shopping cart with my groceries and left. So it looks like if you follow the flyer do NOT go to Metro on Fennell ! VERY DISAPOINTED IN METRO.

They are who they are. Metro is infamous for their exclusives and great products and service. Top notch deli and bakeries. The only downside to this location was that they do not take back the water bottles, but they will direct you to their bigger sister store down at the center mall for that service. Even o n the phone, I felt that service with a smile vibe and was happy with the pleasantries. Grab your super store freshness and enjoy your personal needs with the help of a great location that has just about everything and anything you need.

Ive been to the food counter around 4 times, the first 2 times the ladies that were preparing the food were extremely nice. The next two times the customer service was horrible. I greeted the lady working at the food counter and she said nothing back and just looked at me. She asked me what I wanted in a rude tone and gave me less food than usual , I said thank you anyways and she didn’t even say anything. Metro please hire people that know how to separate having a bad day and their emotions from work. Thank you.

Fantastic experience dealing with Barb the Baker! We came in during a hectic time, there seemed to be repairs going on the slicer - it was loud and disorganized, the phone kept ringing and people kept interrupting her - However Barb, never once lost her cool ... took EXTRA time out to make our daughters birthday cake special - talked directly to our little girl, letting her be "a part" of the process - it was beautiful and my little girl is STILL talking about her princess cake Highly highly recommended!!

Stopped here to pick up a few forgotten items from the weekly grocery trip. Sign upon entry they do not have bags you must have your own. So instead of getting a few things that I needed but could wait for my weekly grocery trip I just picked up 1 thing that was absolutely necessary for dinner and made a mental note so I won't be going back. I have good bags I take with me to shop but don't leave them in the car so an unplanned stop could require a bag. Even a paper bag would have helped.

I bought expired crab here. When I called the manager, Sam Said he would take it off of the shelves and I can come exchange for something not expired. After travelling there hours later, I found EVERY SINLGE PACKAGE of crab to be EXPIRED ON THE SHELVES. shame on you Sam, this is not “Human Error”. The 50+ packages of crab on the shelves were over a month and a half expired and you did nothing to prevent this, even after it being brought to your attention. Don’t shop here!

Stopped in to get a birthday cake today and they had no vanilla cakes in the bakery. No problem, I get it it's Monday. Except when. My husband asked after being ignored for sometime the truly rude employee seemed disgruntled about Monday... or life... or maybe cake and. Snapped that she had none & didn't know when they would. Bakery is not for you. Please get a new job. Went across the street and got a delicious and cheaper cake from. Freshco.

I spent around 200$ a week here. I went in today there is one cashier. It’s a busy Saturday. I have to bag my own groceries while a rude cashier “supervises” behind us. The groceries are expensive enough you can afford to hire a few cashiers. Then she reprimands a customer for leaving before their receipt was printed. If you are that concerned about someone stealing an eggplant it might be best to just open up a till. Lazy

I only go to Metro for specific products. Their prices are too high. I always have to get a raincheck for sale items as they have none in the store. They always let me down. Been there twice this week to get the dawn dish soap on my raincheck. None to be had. The manager is rude and the female staff suggested I drive to Dundas and see if they have any. That store is 30 minutes away. No customer service. Very disappointing

Today I bought a chocolate cake from their Bakery and let me tell you it was DELICIOUS one of the freshest, best tasting, cream yummy frosting 7” round Chocolate Fudge Extreme Cake. Worth the price. I will definitely buy this again. This Metro has the most amazing Bakery always freshly made daily bake goods. I definitely recommend this Metro clean, friendly staff and lots of parking.

Don't bother coming for a hot meal - by 5-5:30 pm it's all gone/ scraps or very old. They seem to only make the sides once per day and it's first come first serve. Last 3 times we've come we've either left with gross food or nothing. Just stop having this as an option if it's too much work to do. Prices are high, and lately it seems the meat section is always empty.

I went in to get my son’s birthday cake and the lady at the bakery was sooooo rude and condescending. She treated my family like we were less human. I felt so sad for my son to have witnessed such horrible behavior on his 3rd birthday. Will tell all my family and friends to avoid this store. #Metroisracistagainstmuslims

  • AS JOURNEY

Very bad experience at bakery, the girl at the bakery was very rude with us, first i thought she must be having a bad day but then she was nicer to other white people, then i got it that as we were muslims thats why she was behaving the way she did. Her behaviour will humiliate her only in long term.

100% better quality meat snd produce than the Freshco across the street. That freshco had gray and sometimes old meat and wilting vegetables, while this metro seems to always have fresh produce and meat! A bit pricey, as with most loblaws places, but worth the slight increase!

This has to be the worst store ever. I don't know why I continue to go there. It is close by. I might need 1 thing in particular and go in. Nope never have whst I need. Plus employees look miserable. But chicken is on sale so I will attempt. Lol. I try to not go there anymore

  • Rita

Young girl at bakery is rude! Every time I go it’s like I’m bothering her and she snaps. She should get another job she likes! Very bad customer service. Asked for pastry and said we didn’t have time and that she had to fill in orders first. manager needs to access.

I love my metro store but it needs to get bigger. A nice brand new deluxe metro with lunch counter etc would be great. Today , Wednesday there was very little on the shelves in the meat section . The fish section looked sad. Please puck it up. I love going to metro.

Good store, clean and maintained. Fruit quality is very good. Its pricey though. I always shop here when the item I am looking for is on sale. Bakery in store for freshly baked bread and dessert. I have bought birthday cakes on numerous occasions for my family.

  • Nik Crawford

One of the pricier grocers. Deli and bakery are great, but the produce often leaves a little to be desired. Staff have always been helpful and friendly. Parking lot is pretty poorly designed, beware of drivers.

  • C M

Flyer specials are usually good deals but regular prices are high. The meals to go are good though, especially the chicken meal deal. Always fresh and well cooked.

  • amber

Food is garbage, always bad or expired. And more expensive! Also always have their on sale tags on wrong items so make sure you don’t get charged full price!

  • Marie Mushing

Store is nice, staff friendly. Food prices still too high but I love the deli!

  • andrew purcell

Over priced for many things, but do have things that others stores don't

  • Jorge Dias

Don't by chestnuts there, I bought some and 80% were rotten

  • michael raleigh
