BAD EXPERIENCED for the first time that I visited this place and shop there...I went to the chicken section and get a bag of chicken legs when I noticed that it was dripping and not tied properly so my friend help me by asking the people there for another bag but instead of helping us, they said no and go to cashier to ask for plastic bag so my friend went to the cashier and OMG, what a shocked when my friend came with a bag and when she's ready to hand it to me , the lady who got mad took the plastic bag from her and she kept talking in Chinese which we don't understand and so my friend took the chicken and brought it to the cashier saying" it's dripping and wait until we're done our groceries.".So it stayed there until we've done our groceries..It's so rude that it's just one bag for a dripping chicken legs because I don't want to contaminate my groceries...There is no good costumer service and coming from a far place just to get our groceries there and treated us with disrespect not even speaks English so we could understand. Never will we return there after spending $400plus in our groceries because of there attitude. VERY BAD COSTUMER SERVICE!

I got sick from ground beef I bought there. I strolled in one day because I was walking in the area. There were definitely cleanliness issues in the store, but I didn’t pay it much mind as I used to live in Toronto and a lot of the Asian markets there have a different ‘standard of presentation’. I bought 2lbs of ground beef and what was advertised as ribeye steak. I went home and promptly froze the ground beef and steaks. When I cooked some of the ground beef, I thought it looked a little grey (but again—Asian Supermarket so maybe slightly different methods of preparation?). I got sick after eating the beef. Cold sweats and severe nausea and stomach cramps. Then there was the ‘Ribeye steak’. Yeah right. Very tough cuts of meat—more like stewing beef in disguise. I should have been suspicious of such a good price. Anyhow, after my experience here I won’t be returning. They’re health and safety standards are obviously in violation of whatever codes there are, and they lie about what they are selling you. No thanks....

Recently moved to Hamilton from Toronto and I was looking for an Asian grocery store in my neighbourhood like the ones I would visit weekly in Toronto’s Chinatown. B&T is excellent. I’m able to purchase all of the sauces, snacks and ingredients that are hard to find at places like Fortinos or Walmart. B&T has your common and hard to find foods from Vietnam, Thailand, China, etc. If you can’t find something at B&T try looking for it at Tan Thanh Supermarket just down the street. Both are absolutely incredible Asian grocery stores. Also, it’s difficult to find VEGETARIAN KIMCHI in downtown Hamilton that actually tastes authentic and B&T is the only place I’ve found that carries the good stuff. (Previously tried overpriced mildly spiced sourkraut wrongly labelled as “kimchi” from The Mustard seed - a grocery store near B&T - that was 3x the price of the absolutely delicious and authentic kimchi that is sold at B&T) I’ve recommended B&T to many friends and I will continue to shop here for Kimchi and other yummy snacks

Nice selection of vegetables and fruit. Great seafood selection live, fresh and frozen. Butcher shop is ok but sometimes the cuts are geared for the oriental meals. An entire aisle committed to noodles. Oriental and common spices although in some cases using names not all are familiar from domestic stores. Eggs of differing types available such as quail, duck in addition to chicken, some types are only available prepped for oriental cooking styles. Snacks from various parts of the world are on offer. Limited baked goods are usually at the cashiers. All kinds of different crackers and cookies not typically found elsewhere join delectables and treats but mostly from overseas. Lineups to cash out can extend top the rear of the store on weekends, even with all cashiers open. Unfortunately sometimes the odours from the seafood area can permeate the store. Although not particularly strong some are negatively affected. Lately they have been doing a better job in dealing with this issue.

Good place to shop! they have just about anything we need! But I wish the people that work their would stop talking only their language when customers are around that don't speak their language! Very rude to do this a lot of customers are not from Asia... Your business is in Canada training your workers to speak English around other customers is important!!! Surprised from the last time I shopped & B & T Supermarket more then 3/4 of the people that work there do speak English! Very friendly staff & exceptional variety of frozen or fresh fish; meats; etc like any other supermarket with no long lineup at the cashiers plus they don't charge for shopping bags! not like Nations with long lineups & don't try to improve the cashiers situation!

  • Tom H

Your business hours shows that you close at 9:00pm on Saturday. As I was picking up my last item close to the cashier, the rude young staff told me to "go, go" and began to rush me to cash out at 8:20pm. I questioned them "don't you closed at 9pm?" at that moment the owner(older woman with short hair) responded with "we want to close early". Being a business that's open to the public, I suggest you honour your business hours!! It's unimaginable that an owner and staffs could treat their customers in such a fashion. I have been there numerous times, but after that incident I will never go back!!

Went just after opening time and was glad to see it wasn’t busy, because aisles are narrow so no way to social distance. Excellent prices for fresh produce, fish and meat. Outstanding selection of Asian spices, sauces, packaged foods you’d never find in a regular chain store supermarket. Staff is typically brusque. Don’t expect smiles and please and thank yous- this is a very authentic Asian grocery. Customer service is not part of the culture. Also typically smelly like any authentic grocery in China Town on Spadina Ave in Toronto.

  • Adnan Taha

Don't buy anything from here that isn't pre-packaged - as I went into the store I was hit with a very strong odour of rotting fish. I've been to many grocery stores selling fresh seafood and in familiar with the smell, but this odour was definitely from rotting fish. The store was also extremely cold at 15 celsius, which is not okay for the poor employees that have to work there for entire shifts. I really hope that B&T improve the quality of their produce and the working conditions for their employees.

  • Shalana Switzer

Just what I would expect at an Asian grocer. Lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and fish. Some harder to find vegetables as well. To address some other reviews about smell, it's what I would expect near a seafood counter: it smelled like fish. We did go in mild weather so could definitely be worse on a hot summer day. Everything was clean and well stocked. Friendly and helpful staff. I only gave 4 stars as I didn't find the prices especially low. It isn't worth it for me to just shop here.

  • A N

It’s actually not a bad place for Asian produce and conveniently located in a busy plaza, but the owner of this place is horrendous! Every single time I’m there I hear her screaming at the staff and just plain out cursing and belittling them. I feel so bad for her workers, with the low unemployment rate they should try to find work elsewhere. I’ve boycotted this place and I hear others have as well because of the abusive and demeaning treatment of this owner towards the staff.

  • Hedia B

At first visit: this store is well stocked, fair prices and relatively clean. I’m not giving them 5 stars because I saw a lady with hijab going to the cash and the cashier said something to her in whatever language she was speaking in and then started laughing with the other cashier. They may very well said something kind but the way it was done made me (a bystander) feel very uncomfortable. Please train your staff on these things.

VERY VERY DIRTY no speaking English very little the cashiers,at all meats handle very poorly poultry sitting next to other meats beef, pork, fish. the bottom of the freezers have rust, any person with any disability can not shop in there, if you ask for a toilet they say no washroom, they clean the veggies & greens next to the meats. its to bad living in a beautiful multicultural country this people don't try to speak English

  • A V

Be aware of buying rotten goods, fruits and vegetables. Monday, I bought meat which had white maggots and coconuts that were rotten. I brought it back to the store and the rude owner screamed at me saying that no store in Canada exchanged or refunded any product. NEVER going BACK to that store again! Be aware of what you buy there for your own safety. WORST experience of my life. I ALREADY REPORTED TO THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT.

  • Brittany Bekiaris

I have mixed feeling about this one from a cleanliness point of view for spoiled produce but I will continue to shop here. The prices are very good and I enjoy buying my frozen seafood and favorite ramen here because you cannot beat thier prices. Also they have this younger gentleman at cash who impresses me everytime I go, hes literally magic with how efficiently and well he scans and bags things

  • Emma V.P. (SquareMoon)

》This place has good deals on food items (meats). 》some sections of the store look a bit unkempt, but with a nice clean-up, it would be perfect. 》the guy who assisted us last time could not understand very well what we were saying, so it was an interesting experience for us. Best if you go with someone who speaks their language for a better service. It's just how I see it

  • Philgore O

I used to go here a few years ago more frequently, always had a funny odor but the prices where good. Ill never go back, today after seeing rotten fish mixed in with good fresh fish all packed in the same ice like nothing was wrong... fresh fish have clear eyes, these where sunken in and had a rotten yellow flesh around the eyes. Shop at your own risk... #foundthesmell

  • Eric Dyer

Cheaper produce an meat than many other local stores. Strong fish order - some of which is to be expected but it also smells like some things have turned and not been thrown out in a timely fashion. No customer service but I wasn't expecting any anyways. Some good stuff here just be careful of expired products as cleanliness doesn't seem to be a priority :P

  • Carcar

I would give it a 5 star for a lot their great prices but some of the shelves in the snack section at times are slightly empty or not available. Asian oriented foods from Philipino to Chinese. I find an abundance of seafood and some chicken have the best prices around with some good sales store wide. Some stuff may be pricey as is everywhere these days.

  • Jay

I wanted ground beef. One dude ignored me and went to the back room. The other was cleaning the sinks so he had his back to people waiting. Not a problem until he served me while still wearing the same gross gloves he had on while he was scrubbing the sink. He handled ground beef, and presumably other people's orders with those dirty gloves. Gross

Terrible staff, well manager. Just came to this store for a first time. A "female look like male" (or a short hair girl) staff yelled and cursing at me for took the wrong cart. I did say "sorry" for that, but that staff keep mumbling bad thing behind me. The female manage was nice, but she said nothing about that staff and find me a new cart.

  • Arefin Chowdhury

Fresh vegetables but the worst customer service. No english speaking sales person. No credit card .only debit or cash. Debit if its atleast 10 dollar! Cashiers are fast but you have to check your receipt otherwise lots of time they make mistakes and take extra money. Atleast i found 3/4 times even once it was 23 dollar!!

  • Richard Cresswell

I stop in to purchase some exoctic fruit. It's a small store that offers Asian food. The fruit and vegetable section of this store had alot of variety and the fish section was quite impressive. Strong seafood smell through the store prices where reasonable. Overall I purchased what I set out to get so a good experience.

  • David J. Fernandes

This place is well stocked and well priced and absolutely No Frills. Don't go in expecting Sobey's and you won't be disappointed. It's one of the few places in Hamilton to grab pan-asian cooking ingredients - both fresh and canned. And it's a tenth the size of Nations and WAY easier to find things, pay and park.

  • Sandra Coruzzi

Store is filthy. Again. Wear gloves and dispose of appropriately. Many staff are maskless and if you ask them to put on a mask to serve you they scream and yell at you. Avoid the Manager, she is loco! Many cockroaches in vegetable cases, such a dissapointment. Worth the extra walk to Nations.

  • Anton Lit

Good store if you don't care about the price of the product. Half the things are missing price tag, and you won't find out from any workers until you get to the cash register. You always come out of the store smelling like a garbage can. Otherwise, it's an okay place to get fresh vegetables.

  • Edgar K

Unbelievably rude customer service. I arrived at the store at 8:20 (they close at 9 on Saturday) and they refused to let me purchase one item as they decided to close early. They shouted at me and told me to get out and it sounded like they were swearing in their language behind my back.

  • B Bilal

This place sells chesp food items, fresh vegetables and fruit and a lot more..Their customer service is worst. They don't talk or greet you and if ask for a thing you are looking for they don't understand but keep staring....May be they speak well with countryman who speak their language.

  • bill rutherford

It Really Sucked no room to walk . The little red pull carts to put your groceries in were not Sanitized for people to use . You use at Own Risk . Lots of violations for fire hazards Guaranteed. If there was a fire I would hate to think what would happen . No public Washrooms ...

  • Lisa

The staff are extremely rude. I was waiting in line and a lady in line behind me butt me because she was friends with the cashier..And the cashier did nothing about it. She didn't even care that I was upset and she's workers there. What disgusting behavior. I've never been back.

  • Mary's Bud

This is a really good place to go get your seafood, mainly cuz you get to see the seafood in their tanks. Maybe I'm just childish like that but I think it's cool as hell. Either way we got ourselves some nice mussels and shrimp prepared in an alfredo sauce and noodles

  • J V

Pretty good place to grab some groceries. They don't heat the interior, so it's legitimately a huge fridge. Kind of narrow aisles, as expected of an Asian store. Their selection is moderate, not as much as a supermarket but still a good variety to choose from.

  • Jason Morse

Store insists you take plastic bags with your purchase. It's their policy. Tried today after years not shopping here for this reason. Still won't budge so I left empty handed. Produce wrapped in excessive plastic too. So frustrating as it's right near home.

  • Cindy Chiu

I smelled something weird when I entered the store but I was unsure what that is. And then I passed by the seafood section and I immediately started to gag for ten times. AND I WAS WEARING A MASK!!! I only give one star because they have mangosteens…

  • Anthony Kam Chuen Chan

Variety of Asian grocery. I like to get rice, vegetables and some dry goods at the store. Parking lot can be quite full. Also, I take opportunity to go to Pho or BBQ kitchen in the same area for lunch. Some area can be cleansed better and more tidy.

  • nick butler

Decent Asian grocer, good selection and prices on fresh greens. Large noodle selection, fresh and fried. Stinks like you would expect. Little to no english. Always has a sale on my very favourite mushroom powder. Seasoning gift from the gods.

  • Dwayne Richardson

You have to be careful when buying fish from this spot. I have bought fish that tasted like chemicals. I think they put a chemical on their fish to preserve visual freshness. They also have red lights over the fish to make them look fresh

  • Erin Janus

Best place to find affordable, delicious young thai coconuts. Best coconut water & coconut meat that I've ever had. And at a great price. However, I wish there wasn't so much meat and dead birds there, makes the store smell mad.

  • Grant Seifred

Great Asian/Chinese/ Korean/Vietnamese/Thai grocery store. When we make Pho this is the place for all the greens etc. I never buy any food from China, but there is still lots to look at and supplies from other countries to buy.

  • Kim Pho

Small little supermarket but they have all the essentials of an Asian Supermarket! Doesn't get overly busy like most other supermarkets I know so that's also a plus. They also often carry steamed banh bao and banh mi too!

  • Tyler Chabot

Great place to pick up necessities for all Asian style dishes. Meat is cheap and good cuts. Selection of fruit and veggies is well stocked and cleanly. Vast supply of rice, oils, starches, flours, noodles, etc.

  • Mrs. Fashionkilla

Rude staff. No one helps you. If you ask for help they ignore you. The guy at the fish station is the most ignorant man I have ever met...may be cheap but is it worth the treatment....sorry I don't speak Asian!

  • Toni Berisa

Great prices and selection of products. The staff are very unfriendly.... today to my surprise the cashier was friendly and even laughed at something that happened while my friend and we're at the cash.

  • Ohhh Jacquie

It smells kinda fishy BUT the fruit and veggie prices can't be beaten. Do t bother going on a weekend it's mayhem with very few extremely slow cashiers who insist on packing up your groceries.

  • Lynda Tomkinson

this store was great, they had so many items that are usually hard to get and prices were very good. but if you only speak english and need help from staff they will not understand you.

  • Shahan Aaron

Low cost products. Fresh vegetables. Lots of products for a small location. Customer service is not the best will be putting it lightly. I go there for quick service not great service.

  • Sam He

Cheap but please take care of your customers. Two customers arrived within five minutes, and found it has already closed. Publish your business hour to every social media please.

  • Brenda S

Rude, rude, rude! Worst customer service EVER. I will not be returning to this store. Ever. Young lady with short hair and older lady with short hair are just rude and obnoxious.

  • Lang Le

this store carry more vegetables and tropical fruits selection compared to other asian store but customer service is very poor,,, have not going back there since this review

  • Muhammad Bahaaddin

I would kindly ask Google to add a ZERO star! Ridiculous, make sure when you buy from them. Some items are expired and still sold.. poor customer service.. what else..

  • Tweeta Fa neeta

The lady at front with short hair is funny, fast and knows the store well. Stay far from others, there rude and when asking a question to them your easily brushed off.

  • Beto Pinto

good prices owners and workers are rude with people english is very little here in my opinion if you open a store you should be able to speak english with people

  • Akbar Pirani

Pros: Low prices Cons: Stinky smell & rude staff. You may be able to save a few bucks if you don't mind shopping in stinky store and being yelled for no reason.

  • Suresh singh

This place is very messy ,unclean and very smelly, produce are outside in heat rotting...where are the health inspectors.Do not recoment to anyone to go there.

  • Geoff Hamilton

Well, I did an Entei raid across the street in Pokemon Go and caught It, and then my phone prompted me to review this place so I give it an automatic 5 stars

  • Qlr TiF

Great Asian supermarket. Cheaper price tags. Never empty shelves. Great place to get your veggies Lots of varieties. Whole place smells like seafood tho.

  • Karl Mark

If you care about customer experience go elsewhere, otherwise you go here for the cheaper price. They dont care if you complain. Either you buy or leave.

  • Cee

Kinda smelly, but a decent no frills kind of grocery store. I especially enjoy the owner lady yelling all sorts of things while you are shopping haha

  • Nicole Collins

Many Asian foods and groceries. You might not see most of the prices due to missing tags, but prices aren’t more expensive than other asian stores.

  • Sabrina Costa

This place is so small and smells plus costly they need more selection of stuff plus they should hire people who can speak and understand english

  • Karen Giang

Bought snow peas and they strategically placed the bad ones underneath the good ones in the container so you can’t tell when you buy them.

  • Raphael Chan

Freezers bunkers are so full, frozen foods are not frozen well. The labelling of the prices of the frozen foods are very confusing.

  • dust418

monkey business(low price for bad food) rude staffs & management warning : never ask a question to staffs or owner. ruin your day.

  • S Smm

  • Sean Gratton

I love shopping here for Asian imports, mostly sweet or salty snacks, and noodles. Their prices are often better than Nations.

  • Kieran Prince

Good alternate food selection, competitve prices... English is far and few between so communicating on product is hard
