Relaxed, casual setting with standard QR Covid check-in and a wait-for-seating desk - ignored by some customers We ordered FREE RANGE EGGS ANYWAY $12.50 - two free-range eggs served your way with sourdough toast with an extra - Smokey Maple Beans $5. The other extras were mostly $5 too. Austere dish - the sourdough was a commercial, thin-sliced bread with little flavour and texture, barely toasted with no condiments such as butter or EVOO. A couple of tablespoons of micro greens [served on another menu dish] would have made the eggs more appealing ZUCCHINI, CORN & SPRING ONION FRITTERS GF/$19.50 - with dill yoghurt, a soft poached egg, slow-roasted pea & avocado smash and a micro herb salad. The extra egg we ordered was forgotten but soon rectified. The 3 fritters were stodgy Dishes were over-priced for value - disappointing. However, the poached eggs were a highlight, as were our 2 rounds of coffee [9/10] The 30-minute street parking was well used by a steady stream of take-away coffee customers

Melon & Rye ticks many of the boxes for a quality experience. There are two interior rooms for indoor dining and a further area out the back for an outdoor experience. Staff offered a pleasant greeting upon arrival and we were able so sit wherever we pleased. In fact the variety of staff were all attentive and efficient. This visit was an exploratory post hiking coffee venture and we were not disappointed. The coffee was rather hot but had a bold flavour and creamy milk froth. The coffee was one that you would savour with a bun or similar, not something you could gulp down. An almond croissant fit the bill today, and I'd be happy to say that it was the tastiest iteration of its kind that I have experienced! Food and beverage selections look very good. Possibly the only point off was that it was a tad on the expensive side.

One of my favourite places to stop for a bite to eat in Adelaide. Pictured is the Chilli Scrambled Eggs with an Orange Ginger Carrot Juice. The amazing blend of light spice with the crisp and sweet salad drizzled on top made nothing but my tongue and senses tingle with joy! Would expect nothing less from this new and highly capable chef/owner. Trained by some of Adelaide’s best known chef’s, he’s making a name for himself in town. His humble and down to earth nature comes through in his meal portions, attention to detail and a passion to create only the best tasting menus for his customers.

I’ve been eyeing this location off for a while on Instagram and finally got to try this week. My whole experience was lovely, from the moment I was greeted by the lovely barista. I got a classic iced mocha and ham and cheese croissant, and they were both fantastic. I’m a big judge of iced mochas but would certainly get one here again. My friends food also looked delish! Certainly recommend stopping in here for food and coffee, aswell as for service!

My wife has been following them on Insta for a while now and was pretty pumped about our visit. We had a fresh out of the oven orange and chocolate muffin (forgot pic!) which was delicious and a New York cheesecake which was equally excellent. Both ordered the cherry ripe hot choccie and it was alright, a bit disappointing tbh but it didn’t spoil the overall experience which was good, opposite a beautiful park and lovely warm service. Would definitely recommend and will be back!

I have been to Melon & Rye a number of times and I can officially not recommend it. Each time I've purchased food here, the food was tasty, but a very small serving, nowhere near enough for a brunch/breakfast or lunch. Sadly unless the store is able to restore it's image to me, I cannot recommend buying food here. Coffee: 3/5 Food: 1.5/5

Stopped by for a hot chocolate last year and was very impressed by the service, so have been meaning to come back since. Had a mug of hot chocolate & a ham, cheese, tomato croissant and loved it. Quick and friendly service, decently priced for a beautiful cafe. Plenty spacious inside, clean and inviting. All staff were warm and helpful, I couldn’t rave about the service enough. Give this place a try!

Nice little café with plenty of options to eat or drink with gluten and dairy free options. Drinks range from tea and coffee to smoothies and juices. The food options are quite large ranging from toast, burgers and even pizza with some good specials too. They have vegan friendly options and use sustainable options including metal straws. It is a little pricey but the staff are lovely.

  • 3csaais SA

A lovely place with very wholesome food that has become far too expensive. For the food you receive the pricing is way out of proportion and although we love the atmosphere we will not be going again. Also our favourite waitress has disappeared, taking away our one remaining reason to visit. If they lowered their prices an extra star would easily be earned.

  • Celine Oudin

Staff doesn't seem happy to be there, too difficult to crack a smile. Irregular coffee quality based on who's the barrista, expensive expresso, too long (nearly reaching top of the t/a cup) even after asking for it to be tight and short - slightly better coffee than their only competition, hungry jacks

Excellent food and amazing service! I came here on Saturday with my mum and we had the 'shrooms on toast and the burger from the specials and it was amazing. I'm a vegan and they were very acommodating to switch things around for my meal. They have a great atmosphere and even when busy the service is great. Will definitely be coming back.

Terrible breakfast place We ordered an eggs Benedict and got boiled eggs. Need i say any more? If you’re a breakfast cafe and can’t do a runny poached egg like an eggs Benedict requires, don’t do breakfast. I didn’t even get to complain to staff as it was so hard to get their attention. Terrible. Never going back here again obviously...

Love the healthy yummy food at Melon & Rye. The staff are always happy and friendly. One of my No 1 cafes to go to in Adelaide over the year's. New menu looks great. Dine in or Take away. Such a great selection of Hot, Cold and Raw food. #LetsGuide #vegan #healthyfood #coffeeshop #adelaide

Great coffee and food options, lots for the Dairy Free, Gluten Free, vegetarians and vegans to choose from. Beautiful cake/ sweets selection as pictured but expensive as a takeaway option and a relatively small slice (also offered cream or yoghurt- they don’t work so well in a paper bag). Update Jan21, still great coffee

  • Miriam del Carmen Tranche

Not too much choices and over prices. We just went there to look around and we couldn't even think about take something. Lovely vibes but quite expensive. And I understand the current global situation which is like how it is... I would like one day to come back and see more options with more affordable prices. Thanks for all.

Had delicious food served on ridiculously small plates. Very friendly and quick service. Great coffee and tea but the decor could do with an update. Nice enough to return though

This place is a real surprise. Blink and you could miss it as you drive out of the city but I would ask you to trust me and go inside, get a coffee, and have breakfast before you set off on the road trip. The food is great, the coffee was excellent, and the staff are all friendly and professional.

  • Robert White

The service I've received at this joint has been in a league of its own, I haven't been to every cafe in the city but I'd be more than willing to put it up against anything in Adelaide. Kind of place that makes me wish I was a local, can't recommend it enough, def worth your time to check it out.

  • Lisa Pick

Absolutely loved the genuine food, great friendly service and my husband got to build his breakfast with all of his favourite foods Also purchased some great re-usable lids and a base for a turmeric latte. My supergreen juice was to die for will be back for sure. …

A quaint little local cafe serving amazing coffee. In an adjoining room, they sell some organic produce from beets, potatoes, butter, milk ,cheese to cider, juice adn wine. In the main cafe you get a selection of local beers and wines. The barista really knows his stuff!!

  • Alison Clare

Always wonderful. Pleasant, comfortable, choice of rooms, most delicious healthy smooth fruit juices ever, love the cakes and other delicacies, very friendly and speedy service. Only occasional customer because I live out of the area, but still called by name.

  • Shaun Burton (MuddyOCAU)

Stopped in for brunch before my youngest daughters appointment next door, finally somewhere that had a nice coffee and tasty food, a little expensive at my first thought, but prices were fair once my taste buds were happy. Staff were nice and friendly too

  • Kenzie Beames

A new local has opened and we were so excited to give it a try. Ordered the vegan granola which was just so fresh, creamy and full of flavour. The baby cino needs a bit of work as it was very hot but other than that it was delightful. High

  • Miss J

Nice set up inside the café with a variety of pastries. Not many interesting choices on the menu tbh. Went with the pulled pork burger that was on special. For the price paid, the burger looked kinda sad. Not very generous with the pulled

  • Sarah Murray

12 months after it opened this business still draws a crowd. Coffee was amazing and filtered water was freely available. Some menu items were a bit expensive for portion size however the Spanakopita that I purchased take away was delicious

Funky menu, lots of great veg options - this place is a little oasis of interesting food sensations, not much else like it nearby. Juices great. Lovely desserts. Also has cosy outside sitting area at the back - great when weather good.

  • Valentina P

Great cafe! The food is fresh and tasty, they make great coffee, and the staff is incredibly nice and helpful: they were very nice in accommodating all our dietary requirements and personalised our salads. Lovely sourdough bread too.

  • jake Warming

Their coffee is always brewed perfectly. Often have their latés or iced coffees, the staff are lovely and their seating options are quite nice, offering indoor and outdoor seating (in their courtyard).

  • AZ Math

Amazing breakfast! Bacon and eggs on sourdough with avocado. Cooked and presented with perfection. And to top it off, coffee was sensational! One of the best breakfast cafes in adelaide.

  • Wesley Brown

Well I practically live here. Almost daily coffee and home made cakes to die for. Breaky and lunches so good. Menu always changing so not boring. Great staff. Cant ask for more!
