I'm a pretty cynical person and certainly with dealers as you read so many horror stories. I needed a car for work and because my Son is ill. I bought a 1.8 TDCi Ford Focus off them. Initially i was impressed at the dealer letting me drive it on my own without anyone with me. I took it around Croydon and tested it around all the roads i could (for steering issues) and onto the flyover for speed woes. Clean inside with no marks and later checked the engine and that too was clean (or at least had been valeted - no bad thing if you ask me). So bought the car for a fair price. That was in December - during the rains. Over the next month i had leaking in the boot, in the rear passenger well and over the back sets - plus the battery died (the paperwork only said 10% charge left!). I was pretty annoyed. But every time McCarthy's agreed to find the fault and every time i got a courtesy car (3 different ones, including one used by Top Gear in their star in a reasonably priced car). Bearing in mind i had the fault on the car in December i only gave them the cheque yesterday 26th March (and yes this cynic in me was thinking it would be refused by being outside the 3 month RAC period) but no. Got the cheque for the battery replacement today. What i will say when buying is check the paper work of past services they give you and beware that the RAC checks that are done for things like the Battery only check if the car starts - its not a full test - although the paperwork noted i only had 10% charge. But when all is said and done i simple can't fault their level of service. They never gave me any problems or grief - despite me being angry (and to be fair this is the worst rain we've had in a good while). The car itself performed effortlessly as i was out in it every day - including the major storms. My woes could have been met with BS, I could have been fed some spin but actually i was never without a car and they have fixed the faults (focuses of that year have issues with leaks - its online). So 5 stars from me. They've been in Croydon a very long time (another reason i chose them) and i think its this level of customer service that see's them through.For the money i think i've done alright and for me at least they've seen me right. So happy days. 2021 UPDATE - still using the car on 40pd runs. It's been fantastic.

No customer service or salesmanship. Turned up at 6:45pm albeit they shut at 7pm so we apologised due to the terrorist attack we weren't sure we could get there. As cash buyers we could've drove the car away that day but any questions we had about the history of the vehicle weren't alleviated by Jon who couldn't wait to get rid of us. He didn't even try to determine our financial position and made very little eye contact and just kept saying "what are we doing guys". As a salesman you would expect staying an extra twenty minutes past closing time wouldn't be an issue (in recruitment if we were going to strike a deal we would always stay late for our own benefit). The next morning I put an offer in on the car, £700 under asking price and was told I would get a callback, but didn't. I called again after lunch and spoke to Jon who wouldn't budge on price and again couldn't wait to get off the phone. I said I would speak to my husband. I rang early evening to agree we would pay asking price and asked to pay the deposit, I was told Jon would call me back. God knows why someone else couldn't have taken my deposit. Jon didn't call me back. Surprise surprise I had to ring again today, I asked to deal with someone else who actually wants to take our money and was put back through to the monotone of Jon. Found out the car has been sold, insincere apology followed and again no salesmanship, did not ask us to have a look at their similar stock. The fact that we turned up for the test drive in jogging bottoms and maybe didn't look the part makes us feel Jon perhaps judged us and our financial standing. As the previous top saleswoman in my company I felt hugely let down and frustrated. I've never had to chase someone to take my money before. Not even a smile for our kids. The only good thing was the guy with the twin girls who took us for a test drive, if it had been his sale we would've bought it as he had a lot interest in us. Bitter taste left in our mouths.

Cue a generic copied and pasted response from a ‘manager’ Was told I’d get a call back tomorrow but looking at all the reviews I doubt I’ll hear anything. Awful. Terrible con men. Typical car salesmen. I would never recommend that anyone goes here, and will make sure everyone knows to stay away! Looking to buy a nearly 20k car and they just tell a load of lies! I loved the car, they would have made a sale today, but instead insisted on lying about numbers and making a load of stuff up. Went elsewhere, car for the same price, they said would be 282 a month on PCP. Great deal! Same terms and agreement with this place, nearly 400 a month....? How does that work? But can do Hire Purchase for a better price....again, how does paying for the full value rather than having a balloon payment work out better in ANY circumstance? I’m not stupid, I’ve been to a few dealerships and know how it works. So you don’t need to treat me like an idiot. Pushed for Hire purchase over PCP. Now we all know salesman get paid more for a hire purchase deal as they’re guaranteed you pay for 7 years so more interest. eBay Advert says includes 12 month premium RAC warranty, as soon as we walk in to the office before even talking about the car, they push to pay for this warranty (£10 a week) as it only actually includes 3 months cover of up to £500, I’d love to see that stand up in court. Along with false advertisement. Never heard such rubbish in my life. Also car supposedly comes with DAB radio....didn’t! Never ever recommend, if you can’t look after your customers from the beginning. What on earth will you be like once you have got their money.

I bought a car from here 5 months ago, i traded in my car, i did get a reasonable price for my car, and i was really happy with my new purchase, until i broke down and it was smoking with my young baby in the back. I expected a little more for £9000!The real disappointment came from the way i was dealt with when i phoned them, when it seemed like the repair was a small thing they were really nice to me,when it turned out to be £600 to replace the AC compressor and Alternator belt they then were less willing to help, offering to do it cheap 'on the side' (alarm bells ringing, dubious if it would even be a genuine or new part) if i could get the car to them ( around 30 miles away) but i couldn't use a second recovery to get the car to them, and i hadn't registered my free RAC breakdown cover as i already had a policy with my insurance. I felt like i was spoken to in quite a rude manner and there was little room for compromise. i have done less then 1500 miles in the car, and barely out of the warranty. essentially it was my fault for not taking out the extended warranty and having two breakdown companies so i could have had my car recovered to them. The manner that i was spoken to and the condescending tone really makes you question who you want to hand our money over too and do business with. Shame as they look like they have nice cars, just be wary who you deal with and what condition the cars are in. I wont be taking my car there for its 'free MOT' thats for sure.

Started well. Deposit down then waited over a week to hear back and was told the aircon needed a regas then told it was a problem with the compressor and then told it would have to go back to main dealership. Was given the option to collect it and they would arrange for it to be collected from mine and taken to hyundai to be repaired, given a courtesy car then have it delivered once repaired or I can wait until they get it repaired. Asked for it in an email to make sure this was carried out but didn't get one. Called to confirm and asked again for an email confirming these repairs would be carried out once purchased and was reassured that if they say they will arrange the repairs they will follow it through. A month later and I've only just received my v5 conveniently after 30 days. Still no reply to my email sent 2 weeks after purchase. Still no email after being called by after sales who said they would get them to call me and still no working aircon. Before going here I'd already had issues with previous dealerships. I really thought mccarthy cars were different but they've proved themselves to be just like all the others. I wouldn't recommend and I won't be using them again. Now deciding what legal action I can take for this but since they refused to put anything in writing I doubt I'll get anything in return.

I bought a Mercedes-Benz A class from McCarthy cars in July 2015, 57 plate, 60,000 miles. I paid top money for it, £6300. I felt re-assured by the documentation I was given with the vehicle, in particular, a service guarantee, that clearly said, we guarantee that the tyres have at least 3mm tread and THE BRAKES ARE LESS THAN 50% WORN. After one year, in which I'd only done 4000 miles, I took the car to Kwik fit for an MOT test certificate, it failed due to scored and worn below the limit discs and pads.Cost me £500 to repair. I looked at the MOT certificate supplied with the car, the test done by D&S auto solutions of S Norwood, the advisory box was blank...no mention of brake wear. I believe McCarthy have got an arrangement where the cars get a soft MOT so that they can get them on the forecourt and make a quick profit. I spoke to Robert McCarthy and he was horrified at my accusations, told me the brake wear was due to the way I drove the car, yeah sure! Told me to put my complaint in writing, I did so, he did nothing. My advice to all car buyers beware of McCarthy Cars, they are not as nice as they make out.I will never buy from them again.

I'd like to thank the McCarthy team for a wonderful service. My purchase was handled by Jonathan who handled my car purchase process and was able to hand me the car on the same day. I'd like to highlight the customer service that I received from the team and in special Jackie and James. Unfortunately, my car had a technical issue (which you might expect from a 60K miles, 6 year old Land Rover), I was amazed how wonderful and quick they were able to address the issue at hand. I was given a courtesy car in less than two minutes once I arrived at the service centre by Jackie, who kindly and promptly, handled the issue with no hassle at all. Also, James was a real gentleman by handling my complain. Overall, despite the technical issue, what stood out for me was their unparalleled customer service and issue handling, which I haven't seen in many places such as the motoring sector, so I highly recommend and will certainly be looking forward to using their services again, upon nearing the end of my car finance contract. I just bought my BMW 5 Series from these guys and have nothing but praise for the way they conduct business. I initially went to them about a month ago looking at a 3 Series. I test drove it, found that it was too small for my needs and I opted not to go ahead with it. There was no pressure whatsoever and that's what gave me the confidence to go back. Richard was very helpful, friendly and reassuring. The car was handed over to me well and everything explained. He even went above and beyond for me, offering to have my private registration printed on plates and also of preparing my car before the weekend. Overall, I feel comfortable and confident with these guys... The same can't be said of other dealerships I've visited, such as Car Giant... Where you are pressurised beyond belief. It's the initial non-pushy approach that made me go back and buy a car. Other garages should learn a thing or two and I truly hope that this approach is maintained in future years to come, because I'd certainly be returning when time comes for an upgrade! Thanks!

I went to McCarthy Cars to check out an Audi A3, I was really impressed by the professional service I received. When I arrived I was given time to check the car and have a look around it. I was given the keys for a test drive and it was really nice to feel they trust you, to go by yourself for the test drive. When I got back, I talked over the details with Jonathan, he was very helpful and professional. We managed to sort out all the paperwork and I was happy with the purchase of the vehicle. I was amazed aswell to be given a full year free RAC membership and that the car was given a free MOT for the year too. When I picked up the vehicle, I was shown around and shown how to operate the controls in and around the car. The car was clean and tidy, it just shows you how they pride themselves of giving you the best car dealership experience from start to finish. McCarthy Cars are an amazing family run business and I strongly recommend them to family and friends.

My first purchase from McCarthy Cars rates as one of my best ever car buying experiences., the salesman couldn’t have been more relaxed and accommodating. The car was ready for handover as promised in just a few days and was delivered without issue at the agreed time. Unfortunately the car developed a fault but this didn’t prove to be a big issue as the car was promptly booked in to a local independent specialist garage of my choice and the fault was resolved within a couple of days. McCarthy Cars settled the invoice direct with the local specialist I didn’t have to get involved in any lengthy claims process. I was very impressed with the after sales service and the way they stood behind the car and had it repaired to a very high standard, quickly and without any quibbles. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another car from McCarthy Cars based on my recent purchase – proper customer service – a very rare thing these days!

We saw the first car on Autotrader and contacted Ross to come see the car the next day. The dealer was the closest to our locality and had very good reviews. We were so impressed with the service, maintenance and checks done on the car that we were confidently happy to go ahead with our purchase. Ross was also a great salesman that answered all our queries, especially since it was our first car in UK, and took us through the sales process where we had the car in less than 2 days from our time of agreement which is super quick. A few weeks later we were followed up with Joe who checked everything was fine with the car and asked if we wanted to go with the service plan which we agreed too. I'm very impressed with everyone I dealt with as they very friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend going with McCarthy Cars if you want to get the good quality second hand car.

I would not recommend taking your car here to sell. They ask you to come in, with only one member of staff able or willing to perform an in person valuation on your vehicle. He works in a separate lot which you’re not told when booking yourself in, once arriving at the other lot I was made to sit for over half an hour whilst this one member of staff sold a car (if you know the process then you’ll know it’s certainly not short) after over half an hour of not being seen to I gave up and left. I called up to find out if someone else could perform the valuation or if I could come in at a time when this particular individual would be free to avoid wasting my time again, to only be told ‘let me ask my colleagues if were buying this type of vehicle’. Absolutely shocked that this was not discussed before bringing me in to the dealership.

I put a deposit down for a car, but circumstances changed so I had to cancel the purchase. Then I am told they cannot give me my deposit back after having placed it only two days before. The car was still in the same position as before. Then when I tried to cancel it he judged me and I felt offended. I was then told they can give me a partial refund and they keep £1,500 of my deposit for a future purchase. Which was totally not ideal. No where on their website is this stated, and I was never made aware of the deposit being non refundable. Had they told me fair enough, but no. Now I am stuck with the car as I cannot just hand out that much money with nothing in return. The car is great, but the situation I was put in made me feel left with little options.

Excellent service, Purchased my Audi A6 from McCarthy cars and had the pleasure of dealing with John who was very professional and helpful. Advised John I want to come and look / purchase the vehicle in the morning of the day I bought the vehicle, with very short notice he had the car MOT, cleaned and ready for me to collect that evening. Which I really appreciated as I was traveling 60+ Miles. I did have a small problem with the satnav on the way home, spoke to John who arranged for the aftersales team to contact me the next morning, which they did and arranged to collect the car get the issues sorted and returned to me. Very happy with the car and level of service provided, I would recommend to anyone and hope to deal with again. Thanks

Asked for a valuation via the online chat feature on Auto Trader and was given a price. When I drove to the dealership they reduced the offered price by £3,000, clearly the online chat is just to get you interested so they can rip you off when you get there. I'll add that my car is in perfect condition and the car I looked at wasn't in top condition at all, broken buttons inside, some weird white mess all over the car and a damaged wing mirror. None of which was mentioned until I mentioned it, when they said a replacement wing mirror had already been ordered. Sounded suspect to me so I walked away. Not the first negative experience combined with ridiculous part-exchange offer I have had from these people so decided to review.

I visited McCarthy Cars around 4-8 weeks ago, the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable, and the cars on site were prepared to a good standard. I spent time viewing a car, and took it for a test drive, my dog also came along for the ride, and they paid attention to my four leg friend on my visit. Although I ended up not purchasing the car, nothing there side, just my height made it uncomfortable in this particular model,. the staff were very helpful and understanding, and explained sometime a car is just not right, or you do not like the drive, their was no pushy sales tactics either, so I will be keeping an eye on their website, and looking to hopefully make a purchase in the future.

Brought my car around 9 months ago. Within the first week the car alarm turned out to be faulty and kept going off in the night and would not stop unless I left the car unlocked. The next week, I was driving to work and the car battery went. Stuck in the middle of the road for hours. Few months later, on the motorway noticed that the car was making a strange noise - turned out it needed a new gearbox. Recently the parking sensors have stopped working and will not stop going off. Poor service and failure to acknowledge the inconvience all the incidents have caused me. Will certainly not be recommending to any friends and will not be buying a car here in the future.

Avoid them at all cost. I bought a BMW from them for 11k end of September which I was told was in a great shape and had 43k miles. Now it’s April, I could use the car for 7k miles for about 1,5 month. Throttle body had to be changed, ECU had to be changed, rear tyres were dangerous. Wonder why they do their own MOT… And guess what, now the engine has a random missfire which is a mystery for two different garages and cannot figure.. The car cost me 3k since I bought it and I still cannot use it. I guess now all this explains why they aggressively pushed me for positive online reviews after I owned the car for 3 days… 1 star isn’t reflective of their service

McCarthy Cars were good and I'd recommend them because they are local and family run. Absolutely love our car, the quality and presentation of the vehicle. McCarthy Cars obviously take pride in vehicles they sell and I'd go back to get our next car! I would only ask that the sales people during and post sales take the time to explain finance and sales products in plain language as it can feel overwhelming for a buyer when they talk so quickly and expect you to sign forms without as much time I'd like to have read them before signing. But maybe that's just me. :) P.s felt really safe buying the car with social distancing measures, screens, hand sanitizer.

We have just returnerd to Mc Carthy cars to trade in our last car a Land Rover Discovery that we bought from them, for a newer version they had in stock. We would not trust any other dealer having been stung badly before. The service is fab, I can not fault any part of our experience with them. The aftercare is brilliant, they are attentive and willing to help with any issues or questions well after you leave them, and I have absolute faith that what we buy from them is good quality and genuine. Scumbag garage, like I've seen on other negative reviews of this dive once you have taken a car your on your own! They sold me a volvo with a faulty steering rack! Absolute cowboys! I started the process of going through the warranty but ultimately gave up as I knew the warranty wasn't worth the paper it was written on and I wouldn't get anywhere. Eventually sold the car on with knowledge of this issue. I remember I noticed a slight knock in the steering and I mentioned it so they took it out and said oh its just abit of play.. what a fool I was. Do not buy anything from them. They should be selling plastic spades and sand castles down the beach!

Very good service and post-purchase care. Sometimes it is the action when something goes wrong which is better read of service quality. McCarthy Cars really did deliver. We bought a new automatic, German manufactured car and something went wrong with the transmission a few weeks down the line (aka not a cheap thing to fix). We called them up and explained the issue and from there McCarthy Cars were awesome! They arranged a top national specialist who picked it up and returned it when we wanted (hats off to Midland Automatic Transmissions as well) and McCarthy handled the cost no issues, no questions asked. Great experience. We will be back.

Brought a 2018 Mini from this dealership. Very friendly, polite, knowledgeable, helpful. Didn’t feel like they wanted to rip me off! Or being given the hard sell! Rob McCarthy, helped me on the day, we arrived with our dog and he was fine with little Loki going for a test drive also. Not only were we offered refreshments on a very hot day but he got a bowl of water and some treats for the dog.All information was clearly presented, finances was offered but encouraged to look around for the best deal. I was very happy with the service I received and would recommend that you check them out if you are looking for a quality used car

They have a wonderful lady in the repair centre by the name of Jackie she’s a trustworthy lady and really gives a lot to helping you when you’re in need. She is an asset to this company and all I can say is thank you Jackie for all the help you’ve given going above and beyond I really appreciate all your help and if you was to ever buy from this place deal with Jackie if you have a problem. I believe she is probably the manager of the repair centre but if any business had several of her working there would be a great company. Thanks again Jackie for all your help this is a definite five star.

I was pleased with McCarthy Cars and would recommend them because the customer service is excellent. They really go above and beyond in how you are treated, it was so reassuring to have them take care of everything regarding the paperwork. They allow you to test drive alone which is great as sometimes you want to have a 'feel of the vehicle alone or with family member. The vehicle I chose to purchase is one of the best cars I have owned, absolutely love it! It came with good service history, great condition and very clean. I will be back for my next car purchase, thank you to James.

Went to Maria at McCarthy’s after a nightmare with Land Rover (long story). She was helpful, informative and understanding right from the beginning. Never too pushy and very knowledgeable, found us the perfect car, sorted everything from start to finish including getting our private on it for us. It’s all about relationships and we’ll be going back to Maria and McCarthy’s every time from now as the big dealers have clearly lost their way. A family business with good values is the way to go, I recommend McCarthy and especially without hesitation to anyone looking for a car purchase.

I’m the same guy who gave this company a 5 star review when I bought the car in December. 2021 But it was my biggest mistakes ever as I trusted them and didn’t look elsewhere. The over priced And after having some financial issues I asked them if they can buy the car back as only had it for 3 months n haven’t even used it n it’s been kept in a private garage.They didn’t wanna know or even try to sort something out or be kinda helpful! I will never go back there again nor recommend them to any of my patients or friends. Very disappointing experience!

Writing a review a year after purchasing my car. It is very hard to find a dealership that will go above and beyond for customers including aftercare, but McCarthy Cars has exceeded all my expectations. My car was well looked after by the previous owner and highly spec'd with all the required services, which I believe is the case with most of the cars McCarthy trades .The smart protect policies arranged by them have been easy to use, and I also had a warranty claim which they handled in two days. Couldn't be happier with their service, outstanding!

I would definitely (and already have) recommended McCarthy Cars to friends because the whole service and professionalism was the best I’ve seen in my 35 years of driving. I was not rushed when spending the two and a half hours choosing my new car out of five BMW X5’s in my price range, anything that wasn’t working on the car was fixed, the car was immaculate when I collected it and they even fitted a tow bar for me for free. I couldn’t fault the service received by McCarthy Cars of Croydon and will definitely be buying from them from now on.

spoke to McCarthy senior on the phone and asked about a car at 6PM. arrived at 9.30 AM to view it and was told by McCarthy Jr it had been sold that morning. seems a bit unlikely to be honest as it wasn't on the forecourt and jr. told me someone who had seen it before phoned that morning to buy it. Feel like I did a 100 mile round trip to see a car that was already gone. McCarthy Sr seemed likeable enough on the phone. Jr in person less so. 2 stars as they did seem to have an OK selection of cars there just not the one I had come to see.

Have bought a few cars from Rob at McCarthys over the years and I wouldn’t trust anyone else. I’ve always been made to feel welcome and looked after when I visit, I couldn’t recommend Rob and everyone there enough. I’ve never had a problem with any car I’ve bought here, it’s nice knowing that when I want to upgrade my ride I can call Rob and tell him what I’d like, he always gives me multiple options to suit and I know that it will be money well spent. Amazing service as always. Thank you

We reserved a car (polo) to go and see, we went, and was slightly disappointed at a dog "urine" smell, and a cracked windscreen, I asked the sales guy what could be done about these 2 issues, and the price as compared to many models of the same year, mileage, and conditions he said "Nothing" and was un interested in talking any further. So we found what we were looking for elsewhere and paid cash by debt card. If he worked for me, I'd have been quit annoyed at the negative attitude.

The experience at McCarthy Cars Used Cars Croydon was good. because they are friendly, polite and professional. I have bought from them before so I was very happy to go back to them. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. They even gave me a full tank of petrol which nobody has ever done before. Usually you get enough petrol to get you to the nearest garage. I would highly recommend. I think you might pay a little bit more for the cars but they give you 100% service.

Bought my chevrolet cruze hatchback in November 2015. Great sales service by Jonathan McCarthy. Very professional. Would definitely return in the future, and will definitely recommend mccarthy cars to family and friends. Excellent after sales service too. I had to replace my battery thisorning 3 months after purchasing the car. I contacted Jonathan and he arranged for me to be reimbursed for the battery no hesitation whatsoever. Brilliant company.

Been looking for a car for the last month. Maria at McCarthy’s has been fantastic. Really professional, and extremely patient and helpful whilst I’ve test driven half of the cars at the showroom. Buying a car is always a big decision, but having someone like Maria helping you makes things much easier and honestly, when the time comes that I want to purchase a another car in the future, I hope to be greeted by someone as caring as her.

I'm very happy with my Renault Kadjar and both Ross & Jonathan have been great throughout the purchasing process. Visited today with a view to purchasing 2 cars in exchange for our existing one car. I have to say the level of customer service was second to none which is so rare when it comes to car dealerships. Both the owner (Jim) and his son (Robert) who helped up through our purchases were extremely helpful, genuine and made the process easy! All other employees we were met also very attentive. We can't wait to pick up our 2 cars next week!

Purchased my Audi A6 from McCarthy Cars 2 weeks ago. Seriously I can't fault these guys. Every query was answered to a high standard and to be fair the process was much easier than I initially thought. Even the in house mechanics we're a pleasure to talk too. The car was immaculate both inside and out and a pleasure to drive. Would 110% do business with them again and hope they trade for many many more years to come.

McCarthy Cars deserve 10 stars! They have been nothing but excellent since I bought my car 15 months ago. The customer service is top notch (a rarity these days), they go out of their way to solve a problem/make the experience smooth for you. Even a year after I bought my car they proved again how amazing they are by helping me with the MOT and solving a problem with the RAC. Amazing staff, esp Jackie and Johnathan!

5 stars: Excellent A minute ago I had an outstanding experience with… I had an outstanding experience with McCarthy cars from start to finish after having a previous bad experience from a garage. The staff at McCarthy cars are very friendly and really make things easy and comfortable when buying a new car, the car was lovely clean and polished. I would recommend this garage to any of my family and friends.

I went to buy a range rover sport from these guys with my cousin and they were so good we actually ended up with 2 range rover sports in the end. We had a few issues with the cars but james and his team were so good and quick to get it sorted even though we live 50 miles away. They are well know to the land rover dealers along the south. I would be going back soon to upgrade my HSE to an autobiography.

Excellent from the moment i enquired about the car through the website, to the moment i drove it away (and after that aswell). A high quality establishment with a very knowledgeable and friendly set up in addition to fair and transparent pricing. Highly recommend as i've had some pretty average experiences when buying a car in the past. Rob was excellent, easy to deal with and great customer care.

Only found these guys by accident on the way to IKEA and glad I did. Great range of top notch vehicles, genuinely helpful and knowledgable service from James?(I think) and I didn’t feel pressured. Came back the next day having done a bit of research and opted for a Range Rover Velar with a bit of space for the kids. Would highly recommend as a real perception changer about car dealers, thanks!

After owning the car for less than 2 weeks the service engine light came in. McCarthy's were great, they 'fixed' it that day. However, since then the engine light has come on repeatedly and they are now too busy to fit the car in for repair. It is disgusting that dealers get away with selling cars that are not fit for purpose on the road and require repair within the initial 3 month warranty.

This is how it should be buying a car! Such a friendly and helpful experience. Rob was just fantastic - knowledgeable and putting no pressure on. He also provided a 5 star child friendly craft club - making masks for our 3 year old to keep him entertained while we took it in turns to test drive! Couldn't recommend McCarthy's highly enough - an old school professional outfit.

The worst people to get a car from!! Once you have your car, they couldn't care less about you. They are very rude. I literally just had a so called manager hang up the phone on me. It is disgusting!! Never ever going back to them again!! I was even told by previous customers not to go there.. and look now- they were completely correct. What a horrible set of people.

We were buying our first car in London. James was incredibly helpful and advised us well on every step. He listened to our needs and then suggested us a perfect car. Bought a bmw of them in Dec,from Cornwall. Had a fault in Jan,with the alarm system. At no point did thy try to get out of repairing it. Thu arranged the repair. And even sorted me a courtesy car. When the local bmw main dealer were less than should have been,McCarthy cars were straight onto it. Would def buy another car from them. And recommend them to anyone.

The experience at McCarthy Cars Used Cars Croydon was good because they dealt with all my questions, explained everything thoroughly. In general everyone made me feel at ease which was welcoming as you don't really come across that at brand name showrooms. I would recommend family and friends to purchase from McCarthy any day, the banter was a plus too.

Great place for second hand cars I saw a car online viewed it went down for a test drive all in the same day and the car was ready 6 days later. The guy who dealt with me was very professional and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and will probably come back to get another car. Nice family run business.

I would highly recommend this long established family run business. All of the staff are exceptionally helpful with no pushy hard sell tactics. Both James and Jonathan and the other staff made the purchase of my car a very smooth experience. I travelled a great distance to see the car I ended up buying and wasn't disappointed.

Great experience from start to finish. After being treated pretty badly from other dealerships McCarthy Cars were brilliant. Dealt with James throughout the process and couldn’t be happier. Super accommodating and genuinely cares about his customers which is a rare trait in this industry. Will 100% be coming back.

I will not recommended at all. They are really nice and kind when you want buy a car but after u sign the contract they don't care. I had issue with logbook because they send paper to DVL without my details. I don't understand how that company can treat customers like that. Customer service is really embarrassing.

Prices on forecourt cars are lower than website. Their response to this is "oh, someone probably put the wrong price on it." just be wary and get an independent mechanic to check over any car that you're interested in, as their RAC checks are flimsy. A bad experience buying from this company.

Brilliant dealers, James was very professional and answered all questions, the sale was smooth and easy. When we collected our Nissan X Trail it was in superb condition inside and out, they even had one other staff who explained all the technical bits in the car very very friendly staff.

They great because everyone who works there are very knowledgeable, professional and trustworthy. They clearly want you to be happy and don't pressure you at all, but provide an all round excellent service. We will certainly go back in the future and recommend them highly to our friends.

Never had a chance to test drive the car as when I arrived at noon, the salesman told me it has just been sold. I called a day before, sent an email, and called again at 9am to confirm before I begin my 3hours journey to Croydon. They even sent me a confirmation message. Disappointing!

I have to say the level of Customer service and going the extra mile was refreshing. I did not purchase this time but Jonathan did his very best to find the right deal for me. When I do eventually decide to buy a car I will be going back to this company's website. Many thanks Jason

Bought a 2011 BMW 5 series from McCarthy cars Russ was very good explained everything brilliantly. The gearbox developed a fault and was all sorted under warranty and provided a courtesy car. BMW running like brand new. Good company staff and great customer service (Thumbs Up)

We are regular customers here. If you are looking for trashy cheap cars, this is not your place. Only young cars, in excellent condition. Friendly customer service, fair prices. There cheaper dealers out there, but this company is is not a dodgy scammer gang.

Greeted by a huge hairy blancmange with its feet up on the desk in the office. Gruff, unfriendly and unhelpful - seemed very keen not to sell me a car. Utterly devoid of civility. Will never visit again. Does not really merit even one star.
