This park was once known as Palmer Park, until a year or so ago. This park is a get away spot for me when I want to be alone, or just to think, or even to bring my kid to play on the playground.
Playground
There is definitely a suitable size playground for the kids to play on.
Restrooms
There are no restrooms available anymore at this park, that's the only issue I have.
Dog-friendliness
People from the surrounding neighborhoods always come to walk and play with their dogs here.
Picnic area
There are no actual picnic tables or grills pre set for use here, but there is definitely enough grassy area for picnicking in the front and back or on either side, depending on how you look at it.

Nice well maintained park with extraordinary public transportation access although at times parking can be challenging depending on day and time. Very peaceful during the morning and afternoon on weekdays. They have a arts and craft fair hosted in the park on a regular basis that is alot of fun with fantastic local artists showing their work. If you do get to one of the parks at festivals make sure to bring some money because I can almost guarantee that you're going to find something you will love. Overall great experiences here and the only downside has nothing to do with the park itself but traffic and parking if your not on a streetcar.

  • Bayou Plant Mama (Botanical Babysitter)

Attended the monthly open air Arts Market event on Saturday. I enjoyed the live music series, the food vendors as well as the native talent. A great place to source eclectic items for gift giving. Friends of the Library had discounted books for purchase there ranging as low as 50 cents. Make sure to bring your shopping bags to free up your hands, a wide brim hat for sun protection and shades. There are a few sitting areas depending on the time of arrival. The swings need to be fixed. Only one working swings. Hard to see kids waiting for 15 minutes to use the swing. Also the red spinning seat needs WD-40, it barely spins.

It is a great park to go throw frisbee, take the kids ect... It has pleanty of open space to run around with your dog or kids also a great place to fly drones. The only negative bis the homeless people and they don't have many and the few that live there stay over by the bus stop. Plus I have never seen them do anything to offend or affect others but there presence does make some mother's Whit children uneasy but I fell they are just people going through a rough spot and are harmless.

Right at the end of the streetcar line on Carrollton Avenue Palmer Park. They have a classic Archway and a war memorial in the middle but the real attraction is the very clean playground. There are lots of young children in the neighborhood and it's a great place to bring kids or to sit on the bench and relax. There's often art markets and food festivals in the park. And it's close to a supermarket in Walgreens if you want to have a picnic.

  • Nicky “Prolific Nicky” Bourgeois

Lovely little park in Carrollton. There is a playground for young children. There are also several shaded benches along the walkway. I really appreciate this park for its simplicity and convenience (located right off of the last stop of the St Charles streetcar and accessible by multiple busses). It's a great place to get away from the business of the city and relax. There are often different events such as arts and crafts fairs.

A clean, safe park for just relaxing maybe yoga, if your into that. At times throughout the month, their is arts market in the park which bring more activities to the park. If you like fast food Burger King is across the street and Walgreens as well, if you just want some snacks for a picnic with your lady or your crew. Small park with few amenities but more accessible to do as you please.

This park used to be my favorite spot to sit down and have lunch or take a shaded walk but now it's in disarray and in need of some serious tlc. The city should still keep up properties like public areas during the pandemic. Even if you don't want people playing with their kids and congregating it still needs proper maintenance. I hope someone of some importance sees this.

During winter there are always bums hanging out at this park, I guess they don't get hassled as often. In summer there are fewer homeless people, but more hoodlums. I can walk my dog here, but there are lots of idiots that don't keep their own dogs leashed. I wouldn't recommend it for small children but kids 6 and up should be fine. The equipment is in good shape.

  • Ms. D

It's a cute small park with some covered areas. It's entertaining for smaller kids but probably not the older ones as far as things to with playground equipment. They would probably be more entertained if they had a ball to play with or other things to do other than play on the slides or swings. There is a lot of grassy area for running around so that's a plus.

Palmer Park has come a long way from many years ago. It still has plenty of space to be a greater park for kids. The ground and landscaping is not well kept. The location is perfect if you are utilizing public transportation. Parking is more residential. Many individuals with their dogs come here.

  • Rickey Flippin

The scenery is nice. The close proximity to the street car stop and intersection of Claiborne & Carrollton is perfect if you're a pedestrian that uses public transportation. Although some of the equipment is degrading and starting to become unstable. Overall it's a nice park just be careful.

  • Joseph Utter

Pretty lovely little park. Might need some policing at night time... & a weekly power-wash... smelled of urine in some spots, unfortunately. But the concept and amenities are great - so long as folks will respect the place. Neighborhood patrol watch might come in handy, just a thought.

  • JC Cantrell

Small open park area. On Saturday, they had an arts and crafts exhibit with a lot of local artists. Did not see a playground or such, just open space. Trees, grass, some benches, that's pretty much it. Just hop the St. Charles line to the end of the line and there you are.

  • Monique Nettles

I brought a group of preschoolers their to play and we had a ball. We loved the shade above the climbing equipment which kept the sun out, but the humility kicked our butts. Make sure you bring some bottles of water. There are no water outlet nor a place for potty break.

  • Millicent Schmidt

Better for older kids than younger ones. The shade for the play structure is great, but I wish some of the parent benches had shade too. Sometimes the grass around the playground gets ridiculously overgrown, to the point that my toddlers are practically swallowed by it.

  • Megan Brennan

We stopped to eat our frost top burgers. There was trash just sitting out (near the play area) so we moved inward to the middle. Just dirty. Ants and flies really bad. Couldn't hardly eat, flies trying to attack my food. And ants on my feet. Yuck. I don't recommend it.

  • Mary Michelet

This is one of the best parks in the area, the only thing I would like the city to do to make it a little better is maybe pressure wash it every few years. The equipment is still in great shape but you can start to see signs of wear and tear on the plastic pieces.

  • Travis Stutsman (Simple Complexity Studios)

Its a prettt park, lots of shade, 2 busess and the streetcar meet at the corner, each hit a different part of the edge of the French Quarter, on the Canal street side. Small kids playground, and across the street from a Walgreens and a Chase bank.

  • morgan esteen

Been going their all 16 years of my life can say it's fun to go with friends and hangout and Walgreens and burger king are right their if you get hungry or thirsty and then take the street car and then you'll see a chain of places you can go to

  • Shirley Young

The monthly art market is fun to shop at for gifts for loved ones, yourself and useful decorative items for your house. Market tents are set up along paved paths under shade trees. It's a very pleasant park in a lovely neighborhood.

  • Floydann Freeman

Love bringing my granddaughter to the park. The only thing about the park is that there's only one swing. This needs to be addressed. Called and reported it and there's still one swing which has been broken for a long time.

  • tyler lamaide

Nice little park on Carrollton and Claiborne. Would avoid at night lots of homeless sleep there. During day great place to bring kids. The is a art market that is around once a month I think usually some really nice stuff.

  • Roddie Montgomery

Its use to be fun there was once sand boxes and more stuff to play on when I was a kid now there is just like 1 area to play for the kids what happened to the merry go round but the care about the kids I don't think so

  • Alessandro Pelias (PizWiz)

It's okay. A nice little park with a nice playground. Nothing special, though. Except for the fact that the playground is always shaded by a big canopy. I just wish the benches where parents sit were also shaded.

  • Dorothy Berman

Lots of benches to seat on. Trees were abundant and a variety that ranges from palm trees. Also a nice playground for children and parents to play. Great place to eat lunch and watch the children play.

  • Anna Corne

A beautiful little park right at the end of the St. Charles trolley line. It's worth a stroll if you have a few extra minutes, just to breathe and get a break from the constant buzz of downtown NOLA.

  • Jamilah Peters-Muhammad

Love this community jewel. I have brought my children, grandchildren, and now my great-grandchildren to this park. We love bike riding, skating, and picnicking here. My Babies love the play set.

  • Matthew Parks

Nice park to go for a walk or jog. Multiple sidewalk paths let you pick your route. Nice playground with shade (depending on time of day different parts of the playground are shaded). Art market

  • EEDNB

Like the place. I saw the Great American Eclipse here. Nice playground for the kids, but the grass can get overgrown at some times and is infested with bugs. Overall nice place

  • Jeannine G

The Palmer Park Art market is always so nice. So many vendors. A great variety. Parking is a little rough just make sure you park legally. It's a great way to spend a Saturday

  • Zach Gorres

Attended the monthly art market at Palmer Park, which usually happens on the last Saturday of the month. There are probably 24 - 36 artists with a nice variety of work.

  • Mary Jane Rogers

accommodating., open park. Port-o-potties was definitely not good. Street cars stop right next to it. There was a street fair going on with great vendors. Lovely day!

  • Wayne Boyko

I like going to the park the last Saturday of the month to browse the local vendor offerings and grab a quick bite to each from food stalls while enjoying the park.

  • Jay Crutti

Nice play structure with some shade. Lots of puddles to navigate on rainy days. Not much infrastructure like water fountains or trash cans or restroom facilities.

  • Glen Loftin

A great place to enjoy a beautiful day finding some leads for a job, getting that homework complete, and always dancing in the rain alone or with that other half.

  • Amanda Amanda

The park is very peaceful. There are plenty of areas with shade to just chill and relax. Right at the end of the streetcar route. Near Burger King and Walgreens
