I used to have a 5 star review on here but I no longer feel this practice deserves the 5 stars mostly due to the second vet that was brought in. First thing to know is they overbook themselves meaning you're dog has an infection? LOL no one cares and we will see you in 2 months. They are extremely sick? Sorry we overbooked ourselves and can't see you for 6 weeks try a pet ER! Secondly there's 2 vets working this office. One is a very nice and kind hearted vet who started the practice whom was the reason I originally gave 5 stars. The second vet is one of the worst people I have ever been around and I have had the misfortune of getting her for the last 3 visits. The second vet actually told me "Well you don't have to worry about shots in the future for your dog because he will be dead before he needs them again" this was on top of making small comments on every aspect of how I take care of my dog and constant ignorant comments from her in regards to what it means to be a "true pet parent." Turns out too that one of my dogs wasn't getting his shots for years despite me dropping him off for shots and paying for shots as well. They accidentally let that one slip and no one seemed to care that I wanted reimbursement for it. When this was a small practice that was excited to do peanut butter during exams and everyone was enthusiastic it was a great place. Now it's just a shell of what it was and I am looking for a new vet.

I took my dog for “day admission” and I was told the vet would call us. I get two calls to tell us how busy they are, then a 3rd call and I was told to pick him up by 5:30. I get there to pay hundreds of dollars and I have to request to speak to a vet. I told her I was in medicine so she knew that I understood a little bit and she had the audacity to laugh. Whatever! Then I call today because my dog is worse. I was told they would call back, 5 hours go by it’s almost closing time. I call again and I’m told “we are so busy but I’m sure they’ll get back to you.” Never heard anything and now I’m at the emergency vet paying double. I would have used that time to find a different vet had I known they weren’t calling me back. Then I’m told by the emergency vet that they didn’t give him the correct dosage of medication so no wonder he is worse!!!! What are you guys doing Do better people and at least have the decency to return a phone call. My dog may not survive because I trusted this place. Do yourself a favor and avoid them. ** This place does not have the same vets that we use to see who were knowledgeable and caring. Idk what happened to them but they’ve been replaced by people who have no idea what they are doing and they obviously do not care either.

Just got home from my first visit with my Yorkiepoo puppy Charlie. First off, I was helped through an extremely stressful situation the previous week by the tech Brit. I also had Brit for my appointment today and I will say she is one of the most compassionate people I have met. I had some things going on in my personal life that affected how I responded to an issue and she was nothing but amazingly patient and genuinely caring with me during the entire process. I truly believe she cares, about animal and human alike. I also met Dr. Cole today and she too was extremely thorough, patient and very friendly with both myself and Charlie. She took the time to answer all my questions and had a wealth of knowledge to give, especially since Charlie is my first small breed pup. I feel much more equipped to handle any issue that comes up in the future. I can’t comment on pricing because I didn’t shop around. However, I wasn’t shocked with the bill and I felt the experience was well worth it. Thank you Brit and Dr. Cole for a wonderful first appointment for Charlie. He was happy the entire time and will not be hesitant to go back!

I live fairly close to this vet, and have meant to give them a chance and see if they are good. The first time I had to go was unfortunately when my elderly cat had a bad episode and had to be put down. They gave me my options and seemed fairly professional and empathetic at the time. They handled the cremation of my cat, and I ended up having to follow up 4 months later to get her remains as they just never bothered to keep track or call me back. Ok, red flag but I was still willing to give them another chance. Took my dog there today and the experience was HORRIBLE. we were condescended to, talked past, and endured barely veiled accusations that we don't take care of our dog at all - unprofessional, unempathetic, accusatory, judgmental and rude, with no basis in reality or fact. Snap judgments based on minimal information definitely don't make me feel like you are going make good treatment decisions for my animals, and your random unfounded prejudice against me as a pet owner does not lend to a trust relationship. Definitely not going back, very disappointed.

I've taken both my cat and dog here after trying out another veterinary hospital. Consistently, I prefer Dr. Cole. She is calm, caring, thorough, and thoughtful. She's not just an animal person, I think she's a people person too. I've never felt like I was annoying her or asking not very useful questions. She listens to my concerns and checks to make sure she's addressed them all. And I feel so relieved that she cares about my pets being hurt or scared as much as I do. I love all the staff. Every single person that has helped me has been warm and considerate--to the pets and me. The vibe here is warm and inviting. What about the cost? The other place that I first chose had reviewers stating that they had the lowest prices and great doctors. I think Malaherd has the same prices overall, and I prefer Dr. Cole. I've only been to the two places. So if you're wondering if your veterinary hospital visits could be better, start here.

My puppy, Lulu, had a little limp and her regular vet couldn’t see her, so I took her to Malaherd, which is very close to our home. We had a great experience with Dr. Janine Cole. A few weeks later, Lulu had a limp on the other side and again our regular vet couldn’t see us, so again I took her Malaherd, and again Dr. Cole and her staff were wonderful. Based on those two experiences, Dr. Cole is now our regular vet. Last week, Lulu went for her first annual check-up, and again we had a great visit. The facility is scrupulously clean, painted in calming colors, the exam rooms are comfortable and attractive, and the pricing structure is competitive and fair. Further, Dr. Cole is always punctual, and she makes time for questions. Her love of fur babies is evident, and I have complete confidence that she will always take excellent care of my Lulu.

Cannot say enough positive things about this place. We had to put our elderly dog down finally after it became apparent it was time. The staff was amazing. They were accommodating and caring. I cannot speak to the "vet services" other than the process of putting down our dog. However, they were more than comforting and easy to work with for the process. It was a difficult decision and time, the entire staff handled it very very well and cannot say enough about the business. I hope when we get another pet, we will be able to take it back to this office and see if the rest of the services are in line with the experience we had. Update, we are currently taking our new dog to Malaherd. They are amazing. Cannot recommend them enough. From the staff to Dr. Cole best vet we have ever had. Highly recommended.

Dr. Cole and all her wonderful staff are so caring about their patients and clients. I felt so welcomed and heard! Before this, I went to a more corporate vet and definitely didn't have as personal of an experience as I did at Malaherd. Dr. Cole made every effort to help me find solutions to my cat's allergies (after curing him of his bacterial infection) and spent a lot of time listening to me and giving me her expertise. Another thing, she allows your pet and you in the room (no more than that), which I absolutely loved because I was able to ask questions without feeling rushed (like for a curbside vet visit at the corporate vet I went to). Thank you so much, Dr. Cole and the amazing staff at Malaherd!!

I recommend Malaherd Veterinary Hospital to ANY pet owner. The professional and caring atmosphere in the hospital and with the staff is fantastic. Dr. Cole and her staff are without a doubt one of the best veterinarian hospitals in the city. Having to break the news of a terminal prognosis for our cat, two weeks later she worked with us to very kindly and gently euthanize our pet due to our pet's rapid deterioration. I cannot get over the kindness of each staff member knowing the sorrow we were going through, and Dr. Cole was great. She let us be comfortable and allowed our pet to be comfortable while we sent her over that rainbow bridge with tears and love. I would give 10 stars if I could.

I took my dog with severe anxiety to them today so that I could get him established with a regular vet, and I can't get over how amazing Dr. Cole and Jody were with him. Their main goal was to make sure he didn't have a bad experience so that he wasn't afraid. Typically, he doesn't eat when he's anxious, but those two had him eating peanut butter off of a spoon. The time and care they took with him really made me feel comfortable about trusting his care to them. Thank you so much for such a positive experience.

Be warned, Doctor Exelby is extremely condescending and patronizing. Everyone else working there is pretty decent, but when supposed professionals feel the need to talk down to caring pet parents, the inferred message is that you don't deserve nor truly care about your pet - contrary to the act of bringing them in after a few days of extensive home care failing to improve the issue. Days... Not weeks nor months, DAYS. Exelby NEEDS to work on her soft skills.

I’m from Boston traveling to Chama NM and my pug puppy had some issues that need it promptly attention I call about a dozen places with no luck… finally I call Malaherd Veterinary Hospital and after I explained my situation even though it was not an emergency I was able to walk in and they took such good care of my pug!!! I was there for less than 45m. Their from desk staff and vets amazing!!! Their service superb!!! Definitely recommend ✅✅✅ thanks

BEST clinic in new mexico. Tanisha, Emily, and Brittaney are exceptional and amazing at what they do! Our kitten Princess Diarrhea felt so safe and cared for! All of my concerns and questions were professionally addressed and I left feeling confident in my ability to better care for my baby with the knowledge they provided. Dr. Stogsdill is an incredible addition to Malaherd and such a compassionate veterinarian.

Switched here after we could not get an appointment for several months with our previous vet. This office has been great. I don't get the sense that they are trying to upsell us on anything, they have been kind but straightforward on care and have allowed us to find prescriptions cheaper providing us with the prescription, which is allowing us overall better care of our pets. Thank you!

The staff and Doctor at Malaherd have been tremendous.They diagnosed and treated my dog accurately which has been an issue in the past and is always a concern. Dr. Cole took her time with both my pup and me making sure to answer any questions I had. They have also been in constant communication with me since our visit. This place is highly recommended and I will be going back.

Ripley and Milo love Dr. Cole. She takes so much time with them and especially our Milo since he has some reactive issues (he thinks he's a big dog). She is so patient and kind and loves our boys as much as we do. She gets on the floor and gives them love every time we see her. Her staff is awesome too!! We will always take our pets to Dr. Cole at Malaherd!

Dr. Cole and her staff are amazing! They go out of their way to make sure your fur family is taken care of! It amazes me when we visit they spend time with you and your pets and answer all my questions. Sounds crazy, but our dogs get excited when we say we are going to the vets. I can’t thank Dr Cole enough for all the amazing care she has given our pets!

This clinic has very kind and knowledgeable staff! We are first time puppy parents and are super happy with the care our puppy Bella received! Facility is very clean, organized and nice. They took the time to answer all of our questions and addressed concerns. Would definitely rate a 10 out of 10 and recommend to anyone looking or such amazing care!

Dr Cole has been our vet for 16 years. She has provided outstanding care for our 4 dogs and I wouldn’t trust them with a one else. My yorkie was recently diagnosed with diabetes and Dr Cole provided her with medication that made am immediate change. Her staff is kind and professional and provides excellent service. Both of my GPS had a hard time tracking down the clinic, so we were running late to our appt. Called the clinic & they did help guide me to the clinic. But then they tried to admit my dog-child without a vet having even laid eyes on him, stating that the vet would see him between appts. Seemed really off to me, so we went elsewhere.

I took our rescue Border Collie in today at 5 months for a check up and some serious recent behavioral changes. These folks spent 2 hours with us at this first visit, largely due to our puppy being so upset! We left informed and set up for necessary future services. Very professional and caring.

An incredible place the staff and Dr Cole are amazing even with the new precautions, Dr Cole and staff make it such a personal and caring experience, my fur babies and myself felt our welfare and saftey were paramount. They are my vet for life!!! Thank you for taking such good care of us.

I brought my pug in last minute when he got into some chocolate cupcakes. The staff was so friendly, even though I came in half an hour before close. They took care of him and I felt welcome and cared for by everyone there. A pleasant experience, even given the circumstances.

I had to put our sweet dog to sleep this morning. Everyone I dealt with was wonderful and very caring to both of us. It`s never easy, but they made it the best they could. I would highly recommend them to any one looking for a good place to take their loved ones.

Dr Cole and her Staff are The Bomb !! thought I had no choice but put her down but she had every bit of faith in saving her this is Day 10 of our home care and doing pretty good. One day at a time So Greatful to have my Girl back.

Helped my grandma at her dogs appt. Felt like she was being interrogated, overcharged, and judged. They (assuming her husband-Lance?) are not nice to their employees. Unfortunate.

There was no wait for our appointment, but a warm welcome sign with our pet's name on the door. They also took quality time with us, getting to know our pet.
