I loved this place. We were looking for a quick bite to eat before one of us departed for Sydney. And, it was already heading 2pm. Not a great time to get a coffee and snack in Adelaide on a weekend or weekday, for that matter, as most places have closed/are closing. Plant 4 at Bowden was a suggestion but, almost all coffee machines had already shut down in there too. However, one lovely seller suggested we go over to Plant 3 - across a path only from Plant 4, where we discovered Little Banksia Tree Cafe was indeed still open, serving coffee and hot snacks still. Great service from behind the counter (and, there is also an actual bar too. For very civilised weekend/weekday tipples!?) from Sinead O’Connor lookalike and, willing to work with me to customise my ham and cheese toastie, by adding Kimchi as well as the Davidson Plum jam/chutney/sauce. Yum Coffee was great. Smooth. And worth getting the large size. Which I do rarely. I drink enough coffee as it is! Look, the ambience of Plant 3 is just beautiful… large, industrial but still inviting with white everywhere and loads of greenery all around (plant stall there too. Reasonably priced, with vases and pots that are mini works of art!) Plant 3 is vibrant, light and bright and Little Banksia Tree has great coffee, delicious looking pastries (if there’s still the one you want left?) and really interesting hot toasties/snacks with native twists like hommus with Geraldton Wax flower in it… Davidson Plum jam/chutney/sauce, as mentioned etc. Lunch partners in crime, had the ham and cheese toastie without Kimchi, just Davidson Plum jam/sauce/chutney, and the other was a crab toastie with Geraldton Wax hommus. It was good too. But love my Jambon Beurre (ham and cheese) and with Kimchi, it was divine. Highly recommend hanging out at Plant 3. Great service, food and vibe. Bring the family-plenty of room to run around here. Or get takeaways and take them to the park just outside the door! @littlebanksiatree @plant3bowden

Really great food in a very good setting. We had XO Crab and Ham and Cheese Toastie in both of our visits, and the Pickled Crab on our first. The XO Crab is a beautiful bomb on the tastebuds, with all its flavours mixed in together, and just so right for a quick bite. On the other hand, the Pickled Crab offers the same, but a heavier version of the XO Crab, which is great if you hadn't had a meal yet. As for the Ham and Cheese Toastie, it's a new favourite of my girl! Their relish is also a really good addition and compliments the taste of all their served food. Their B.O.M.B smoothie (banana, orange, mango, blueberry) is also a must-try. The place is really nice whether you want to be alone or hang-out with friends and families. Haven't visited Plant 3 on a weekday, but on the weekends we visited, it was so great to see different groups of people - families having brunch together; a ladies group doing knitting displaying happy smiles; and friends catching up. The staff who served us were great and really helpful (i.e. when we asked what is in their food, since their menu is so different from the usual at first glance). On our last visit, we had Mae and Claire serving us and their smiles and professionalism on what they do really added to the good vibe of the place and the people around.

Iced Soy Mocha has made my TOP 5 ⭐ in Adelaide. It was just perfectly balanced in my opinion. There's two types of iced mochas on the market, the pure'ist and the whipped cream kind. If the coffee is good, I prefer the pure iced soy mocha, no fancy cream or sweet syrups. It's usually hard to come across a good one. These guys have nailed it! They had a slightly fruity roast, wasn't strong but held a solid aroma on the palette. Was so refreshing. Just simple coffee, ice and light on the chocolate. 4.8/5 ⭐ The cake was nicely presented, and came with a big dollop of ice cream. I believe it was a candied blood orange and chocolate "cake" however was more like a brownie slice? :') It had a lot of flavour and was moist. I usually don't like peel, but this was candied and wasn't bitter at all. 4.7/5 ⭐ The venue was very ambient and had an amazing vibe!! Plants and lots of light made for a great alfresco style cafe experience. You really have to come try this location as there is so much to offer here! I will be coming back for sure!! Was slightly on the pricey side for a coffee and cake. But well worth it!

Took my little guy out for a play locally during school holidays and treated myself to coffee and breakfast here, but was underwhelmed. They were doing a free coffee thing so it was super busy, maybe that explains my half full cup. The server didn't seem interested in how my coffee or food were...would have fed back to him that the pumpkin on toast was straight from the fridge cold (maybe just not what I was expecting?) and so was the toast, and hard/stale too, but he didn't ask. Normally I love crunchy sourdough! Toppings were yum so came to the rescue. Generally wouldn't try this one again though.

Every time I’ve been past on a weekend it’s been busy. So a quiet Tuesday lunch was a great time to visit. Excellent coffee The pastrami and sauerkraut toastie was juicy and crispy, loved the maple mustard too. There’s plenty of seats and it’s a great spot to get some work done while you eat.

3rd time - today was the worst No flexibility in menu - no tomatoes and NEVER will be - but advertise as sustainable but have HAM ??? Some staff are suited to hospitality but some definitely are NOT and some should be back of house forever Pricing higher for the quality There’s much better options in this area

Fantastic coffee, quick service and plenty of places to sit. The whole area had a really nice outdoor/indoor vibe to it. I had the XO crab toastie which was absolutely delicious and the right amount of spicy. Well worth a visit!

Have only been to Plant 3 in Bowden. After waiting for them to fill the space here we were eager to go on the opening day. Unfortunately the mug wasn't full (the tide was out!!) and we found the coffee very bitter. This was the same on our 2nd visit as well. People are lovely & cheerful and has a great set up. We will keep trying to see if this improves

Lovely staff. Coffee was ok. A little bit darker roast than I would normally prefer, but some interesting notes from the batch brew.

Food that costs an arm and a leg when Lost Loaf is adjacent. Coffee that’s mostly milk, and teaspoons covered in egg from a previous meal - no apology or replacement of foul cutlery.
